Scripting error when using 64 bit internet explorer

Could you please give me a solution to the following:
Laptop  HP Pavillion dv7-3112sa  Windows 7
Printer  HP Photosmart B209
Wireless connection Netgear DGND 3300 v2
When I use internet explorer 64 bit and try to print, I get a message "Scripting Error" and it will not print.
This is OK on 32 bit.
I cannot update my HP software because I lose wireless communications altogether and have to do a restore to get it to work again.
This question was solved.

Scripting errors are related to how the website behaves with a browser.
In this case, it is printing script that is having an issue and it appears to be with the 64bit Internet Explorer since it works fine with Internet Explorer 32bit.
Review this article from Microsoft regarding this issue.
You have already found the best resolution to this issue:  Using 32bit Internet Explorer.
64bit web browsing is still a very small portion of web sites and very few fully support the 64bit browsing experience.  I highly recommend using a 32bit web browser for viewing websites as this will give you the best compatibility as every website still supports 32bit browsing, but not all sites are fully compatible with 64bit browsers.

  • Script Error when using IE on my iMac

    Thanks to all the people that helped me with my previous problems.
    I have another problem though. When I'm using IE on my iMac, on about 80% of the pages I go to, it'll say "A script error occured. Some scripts on the affected page may not work correctly. Do you want to continue running scripts on the affected page?" then it asks for yes or no, and i choose yes. Some times the page will open correctly, but sites like www.aim.com will only display the background image, but no text. I can't even see any thing on www.apple.com (I'm using my PC right now). Is there some thing I can download to fix this problem? Thanks.

    Internet Explorer is no longer supported on the Mac. There are numerous alternatives like Wacom Mozilla, Netscape, iCab, Opera which are available for Mac OS 8.6.
    You may though find more and more websites which don't work properly on Mac OS 8.6. Disabling Javascript and Java will make many work better, though some buttons and menus may be missing. This is as much a problem of the webmaster not following the good practices of making the website accessible to all people who use it. http://www.anybrowser.org/ has a great website about writing websites following standards that are usable on all browsers, as well as letters you can write webmasters that aren't able to make their website visible on all browsers.
    Some alternative web browsers I've listed on http://www.macmaps.com/browser.html
    I'd add, Mac OS X has much better support of websites than Mac OS 8.6 or earlier, and if you are finding websites you use frequently don't support any Mac OS 8.6 web browser, it may be time for you to upgrade. The G3/233 iMac's maximum operating system is 10.3.9, though you must upgrade its firmware before attempting to install 10.2 or later.

    Hello,I'm not sure what's going on here, but when I try to use a data parameter and run the report, upon clicking on the calander icon, I get a JS error saying that an object was expected in line 80.  A referring URL to a prompting htrml is listed, but I'm just not sure what I need to do to straighten this out.  Service pack perhaps? I have had a similar problem with CR XI,  if I put the date in manually no worries, if I use the calendar, I get some sort of error as well,  "a runtime error has occured, error line 742", this happens on my CR XI on one machine, it is running on product version 11.5.8.963,  I also have CR XI, on a test server, running 11.5.8.826 and I do not have an issue with this one.  So... Long story made short, it may well be the service patch.  When I debug the error it tells me there is a "Microsoft Jscript runtime error"  It is pointing to c:/program files/business objects/common/3.5/crystalreportveiwers115/prompting/js/promptengine_calendar.js

  • Scripting error when opening Interactive Form

    Hi all,
    I'm experimenting with adobe interactive forms (in web dynpro), but things aren't going as expected. I'm getting scripting errors when clicking (in Internet Explorer) on a link that opens a view with an interactive form. Please see below for details.
    I've found a similar error description /thread/80059 [original link is broken], but the context is different. It seems to be related to namespaces, but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hello Jeroen and welcome to the SDN!
    It seems like an error in the WebDynpro-part, not in the Adobe forms-part. Please check if all your elements (views, windows, controllers, etc.) are in valid namespaces.
    Could you try to create an application for the WebDynpro-project in the NDS, and try to <i>deploy new archive and run </i>? Does this work?
    Perhaps you could even copy the project, and replace the Adobe Inter Form element by a static text, to test if it is in the WebDynpro part or that it really has something to do with the Adobe.
    Good luck,

  • Sharepoint 2007, Office 2007, and 64-bit Internet Explorer support

    Hi All,
    I have an issue editing documents on our SharePoint 2007 intranet.  When using 64-bit IE, and when I choose "Edit in Microsoft Office Word" I get the following error:   ‘Edit Document’ requires a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater.    This does not happen with 32-bit IE.
    I am working on deploying Windows 7 and I am seeing this on a clean installation of Windows 7 Enterprise x64.  The only software I am installing is Office Enterprise 2007.  The Office 2007 installation includes the Office Tools > Windows SharePoint Services Support.   Installing SP1 and SP2 for Office does not fix the problem.   I can duplicate this on multiple computers.
    I know 64-bit IE is a level 2 supported browser according to this article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263526.aspx ), but shouldn't editing documents be allowed for it?   Perhaps I am misinterpreting the article somehow?   If this is the case, could someone point out where I am going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Thanks but copying the dll over and restarting IE also did not work.  I also restarted the computer to be sure.  I tried these additional things:
    I tried re-registering the dll but I got this error:  The module "owssupp.dll" was loaded but the call DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070716.
    I also removed the dll and ran the Microsoft Office Diagnostics utility.  It found and corrected one problem (it added the dll back), but this did not fix my problem.
    To elaborate more, I noticed that I CAN check out a document and then use the "Edit in Microsoft Word" link to open the document.  However, when I try to save the document, SharePoint thinks the document is read-only.  So there is still some compatibility issues going on there.
    So I did some more digging and although I couldn't find it documented, the feature that allows this to work is an ActiveX control.  I compared the browser add-ons in the 32bit version of IE to the 64 bit version and what would you know, the add-ons (SharePointOpenDocuments and SharePoint Stssync Handler - both controlled by owssupp.dll) were not part of the browser... and there didn't appear a way to install them.
    According to the document I linked in my original post, ActiveX controls are not supported in level 2 browsers such as 64 bit Internet Explorer... it could be this is one of the ActiveX controls that is not supported.  For now that is my answer unless anyone else has more ideas.

  • COM Surrogate stops working When printing in Internet Explorer 10

    Some info about the setup
    Virtual Server
    WIndows server 2008 R2 Standard

    The problem only occurs for some users, other users on the terminal server are able to print.
    Printing in Google Crome works just fine.
    I've tried to disable all "add-ons" in internet explorer
    I've disabled Data Execution Protection for "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe"
    I've also tried to add "C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe" got an error about 64bit

    FOUND A WORKING SOLUTION TO INTERNET EXPLORER 11's COM Surrogate Error
    Problem: My Windows 7 x86 (32bit) Virtual Instance on Parallels was having issues with launching Internet Explorer 11, either after an upgrade from 10 or when I had accidentally uninstalled then reinstalled my Parallels Display Adapter from the Device Manager.
    And since one of my work websites rely and are only compatible with Internet Explorer, this was driving me NUTS. Every time I would launch Internet Explorer, I would get bombarded with a series of COM Surrogate errors that would never stop until I had end
    tasked everything via Task Manager and/or restarted the virtual machine.
    Diagnosis: After attempting all the available solutions on the internet..: Updating Windows 7/8 Codecs, Adding Data Execution Prevention (DEP) entries for both COM Surrogate and Windows Host Process for my x86 Windows 7, and attempting to find a way to downgrade
    Internet Explorer 11 (nearly impossible).
    HERE IS THE SOLUTION that worked for me:
    1. Hit Windows + R (Run) and launch "inetcpl.cpl" (Internet Explorer Settings)
    2. Go to the Advanced Tab, and Click "Reset..."
    3. Check "Delete Personal Settings" and click Reset
    Enjoy :)

  • Parts of screen missing when played on Internet Explorer

    Has anyone ever had a published CP5 project not display the whole screen when presented in Internet Explorer?  A coworker brings up a course in IE and the playbar and the right side of the screen are missing.  I bring up the same course from the same source on a different computer and all the elements are there.
    I have no idea how to explain it.  The monitors are the same resolution and the size of the project isn't big enough to go off screen.

    If everything else is the same, IE has that zoom option.  I use the shift-mouse wheel, not sure if you can do it with the keyboard or touch pad, but rolling up zooms in, rolling down zooms out.  Perhaps that's it?

  • Use only Internet Explorer for SAP portal

    Hello,
    We have a requirement to use only internet explorer for SAP portal.
    When we try to use portal in any other browser, it should display a message saying "This browser is not supported for the application" (or any other message). But purpose is, the portal application should be usable in only one browser i.e Internet Explorer.
    If any one have any idea on this, how this can be implemented, then please share the same. I tried to find if there are any standard SAP portal parameters, but haven't come across any.
    Regards,

  • I keep getting script errors when accessing Amazon Seller merchant pages. I get the following A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script

    I keep getting script errors when accessing Amazon Seller merchant pages. I get the following A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://spautofill/content/spOverlay.js:150, I also get js210 as well. I have cleared all cookies and history and unistalled Firefaox and reinstalled. Been thru my AVS and set the site as trusted in every possible place. Still get the problem. Do not get it with IE on same PC.
    == URL of affected sites ==
    https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk

    Same problem but with a different vendor site:
    https://www.webvitamins.com/myfavorites.aspx
    Not only does the page hang, but the other tabs also hang.
    I contacted the vendor and their reply was "we were told that this looks like a script that is used by "Sticky Password", third-party software that must have been installed on your browser. However, our website did not install it and does not have anything to do with it." As far as I can tell, "Sticky Password" is not installed on my Firefox.
    Same problem as above occurs, but with IE 8.0.6001.18702. Therefore, it is not unique to Firefox.
    CAUSE DETERMINED: Have determined that this problem only occurs when Kaspersky Password Manager is installed. In Firefox, if the "Password Manager Autofill Engine" add-on is disabled, the problem goes away.

  • Menu positioning problem when viewing in Internet explorer on a pc

    Hi guys,
    I have created a website for a football team and I am having problems with the menu. It looks fine in all browsers apart from Internet Explorer. The menu positioning is meant to be on the left hand side but shows far right on the screen when viewed in Internet Explorer. Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue?
    http://www.stormersfc.co.uk
    css sheet - http://www.stormersfc.co.uk/style.css
    Hopefully someone can help.
    Cheers,
    Roy

    Hummm....its difficult to tell. Youre using so many redundant css styles ie not needed.
    Youre 'leftPan' <div> container is 140px in width but your ul (unordered list inside it is 244px wide?
    Why set widths and heights when they are not needed. You have no idea what height the ul and li will be in other users browsers. A child element placed inside a parent container will stretch to the full width without specifying a width for the child element. The key to web deisgn is keeping all the maths 100% correct. If you so much as get anything out by even one px it could break the design.
    #leftPan{
         margin-left: 90px;
         width: 140px;
    #leftPan ul{
         width:244px;
         height:250px;
         background-position: 0 0;
         padding-top: 0px;
         padding-right: 0;
         padding-bottom: 0;
         padding-left: 0;
         margin-top: 1px;
         text-decoration: none;
    I see no reason why your based structure ie the 'container', 'header', 'mainpic', sidebar1 and 'mainContent' should not work in all browsers. Now what you have inside those may be casuing the conflict. I would strip the page back to the base structure (check that it does work in all browsers) then begin to fill the containers, checking as you go.

  • Unresponsive Script Error when Saving Changed Set in Flickr Organizer

    I'm getting an unresponsive script error when saving a changed set in the Flickr organizer.
    The problem started when using Firefox 3.6.8 or maybe an earlier version. It persists in Firefox 3.6.12
    I've noticed the error only appears in the Organizer and only when saving a changed set or saving after deleting a set.
    It does indeed save the changed set correctly before crashing.
    It is not intermittent and happens every time I perform this save.
    The error does not occur in Chrome or Safari.
