Scripting in Final cut, Special Request, urgent !

Dear all
I am researching a feature in final cut that I am already using in Adobe after effects.
I am creating a movie composed of several small movies, what I need it that a text box shows the name of the FILE that is now playing, so that when watching th full movie I can have reference to the small shots names.
I managed to do that through scripting in After Effects.
Is this doable in Final Cut
Appreciate your feedback since NO one around me seems to know !!

I know this is not the exact solution, nor is it the $10 app, but if you are doing this type of function a lot, you may find it worth the large price tag. I know it paid for itself in 1 job for me.
Not exactly what you want but may be a decent workaround if you are familiar with Motion (since you are an After Effects user).
Create a generic "name of clip" overlay in Motion as a template. Use Automotion to import your 100 titles as an excel spreadsheet, then export your 100 overlays and drop them into FCP.
Even better (but not realistic probably), your 100 clips are the same length so then you could create your spreadsheet in the EXACT order of the timeline, then drop them into FCP and BANG!
Well...probably not likely that each clip is the same length, but still 100 title overlays in less than 5 seconds with a spreadsheet (designed exactly as you need them) is not bad.

Assets are "Edit In Place" yet dragging to Final Cut Pro requests caching

This is an odd one. I have a large number of assets on our device that I can successfully drag from Final Cut Server directly to Final Cut Pro without issue. However I have what appears to be thousands of assets on the exact same device that I can not drag without the dialog box "You must add this asset to the cache before you can use it in a Final Cut Studio project."
This is very weird. If I right click on the asset in Final Cut Studio and select to view the Original Media I get the warning "The asset is an edit-in-place asset. Any changes..." so obviously it knows it is an edit in place asset, so why are they giving me grief when dragging to Final Cut Pro?
Specs: Final Cut Server 1.1, Final Cut Pro 6.0.4

Sorry that I keep replying to myself, but the bazaar behavior continues...
I took one of these odd assets and made a copy to my desktop. Then I deleted the asset and file within Final Cut Server. Next I moved the asset from my desktop back to the original location and waited for a Full Scan to pick up the asset.
After the Full Scan, the asset was draggable to Final Cut Pro! I can't possibly do this to every asset. Did the database get corrupt?
Ideas? Thanks!

Final Cut Pro timeline items vanish

Put simply, anything placed into the timeline soon goes invisible so that anything beneath, such as the desktop, becomes visible and if I click on what should be a video clip, I'm actually clicking on whatever's beneath Final Cut Pro, which then gets selected instead. Basically like a cookie cutter effect.

I reinstalled Final Cut Studio, assuming whatever had gone wrong would be fixed, but it hasn't.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Any suggestions are welcomed, as I need to use Final Cut Pro quite urgently.

Turned out it was ShapeShifter messing with my display settings. I'd forgotten I even had it. Once it was disabled, everything worked properly again.

Can´t buy Final Cut X, "cant complete your request, try later" Help please

I´ve been trying to buy Final Cut X for about 1 hour, but when I click buy, a message comes. "We cant complete your request. There has been an error in App Store, try later".
I had tried for about 45 minutes and the error stills there, I need the software urgent.
Early in the morning I downloaded the trial version but when I installed, it told me that the package couldn´t be opnened. Many problmes for something made by Mac, this is not normal.
Im in Bogotá Colombia, I need Final, please help me.

Good news.
I have succeed installed Final Cut X.
Here's what I figured out to solve this problem:
I changed the credit card again to another one from a friend.
The problem was actually with the credit card because the value of Final Cut X is $299.99
The budget limit of my credit card was the issue.
After changing the credit card I went to App store and choose Final Cut.
It started to download.
But there was some problem to download it too.
It stop downloading after 100Mb or less and an error windows pop up saying an error to download.
So I opened again App Store and did run an upgrade on OSX.
Mountain Lion had to do some upgrade with iTunes and that's what I did.
After that I reinitialized the iMac and then the download was ok.
Everything seems to work good now.

One or more of the updates requested by Final Cut Server could not be...

We are getting the warning " One or more of the updates requested by Final Cut Server could not be applied. (one or more replacement file(s) had unexpected track settings.)" when a FCPv6.06 (possibly also FCPv7.0) project file is checked-out of Final Cut Server v1.5.1. The assets linked to the project are cached down successfully (this in not an XSAN environment) but opening the project alerts to some offline media files (not all) and we need to manually relink them to the assets in the Final Cut Server cache. All is good again until the project file is checked-out of FCSvr to another workstation.
Having a look at the path of the offline files it is referencing the path of the assets as they were on the previous editor's (different) workstation. None of our workstations have the same path to the Final Cut Server cache.
My understanding and experience is that FCSvr manages the paths for FCP linked assets and modifies the checked-out file's path to point to the workstation's FCSvr cache?
Can you tell me how I can resolve this issue?

I may have resolved this issue today or I'm at a stage where I can't replicate it. The problem may have been propagating from a within a template FCP project file we use to start our productions. I assume it was a corruption of the FCP file that FCSvr didn't recognise?

Command to Export project as Final Cut Pro XML from jsx script

Hi All,
Can somebody get me the command to export the project as final cut pro xml from jsx script.
I was using the extension builder script earlier for cs6 panel development, so we were using pjct.exportFinalCutProXML("pathname");
Now I am working for panel in Premiere CC so working on HTML 5 panel and qe dom scripting(.jsx).
In some jsx examples i got there is script to export sequence as final cut pro xml but cannot get the code for project export.
project.activeSequence.exportAsFinalCutProXML(entire_out_path);
Also please let me know if there are any kind of reference available about all the functions and properties in the pe dom scripting for premiere pro cc.
I am using premiere pro cc 7.1, windows 7, Eclipse Kepler.

When you reimport the exported project XML to FCP, do you get the full project or just the single bin/sequence? If you get the full project then it sounds like you need Premiere help, not FCP help ... have you tried asking on the Adobe forums? If you only get the single bin/sequence then it seems you might have inadvertently selected those prior to creating the project export. Try making sure that your FCP Browser window is active and that you have not selected anything within that window prior to using the File > Export > XML command. If that still causes issue then you might try using an earlier FCP XML version.

URGENT: Final Cut Pro Constantly Quiting

Hello Everyone
I am hoping that you will be able to help me out with this large issue.
First off I am using:
Apple Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 within the Final Cut Studio 5
on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz iMac 24" with 3GB of Ram and 512 Video Card from nVidia
When I open my project file from double clicking on it I can not export, import or open another file, the application quits.
So my problem is the application is constantly quitting when I go to open a project file from within FCP as well I can not import or export any files, without the application quitting.
I have tried wiping the preferences using 2 different programs and doing it manually.
I have tried re-installing FCP following the instructions on the Apple Support web site.
This is urgent we need this to be working for a film festival and I am stuck.

Reinstalling FCP would have been my suggestion, that's what I finally had to do a few weeks ago. Preferences usually do not affect this behavior AFAICT. On my systems, quitting without an error box or without an offer to send comments to Apple indicates a bad media file somewhere in the project. So we configure FCP to open into a blank project and then try to figure out what might have been messed up. It is usually one of the last rendered or imported media files.
Listen, this is not necessarily the best advice. You should wait till you get other suggestions
So, suggest your sort your scratch folders by date, move everything that was created AFTER YOUR LAST GOOD SESSION to the trash and try it again.
Warning, FCP can look in the trash so you may have to actually empty it and recreate all of those missing files.

Urgent! Help, how to deal with m2ts file in Final Cut Pro or Compressor...

Please help me solve this urgent issue, I've got source that came with the mpeg-2 Transport Stream (48min content @ 3.42GB size) format , but both my Final Cut 6.0.6 and Compressor 3.0.5 can not open this type of file, is there any way that I can transcode this m2-ts file into a Final Cut Pro and Compressor readable format with the highest quality possible? And how to do it?

hey, Thanks David, actually, I used MPEG Streamclip prior to post this massage, the problem is that my
MPEG Streamclip 1.9.2 can't correctly open this m2ts file (it says it can not read the file size...) and I also tried using VLC to transcode it, but with no luck, I can not find the right video and audio format to come out with QT playalbe file. Let me try ClipWarp to see if it works.

Why is osx lion is requesting my final cut serial number

When I performed the OS X Lion upgrade I could not load my Final Cut, It is requesting my serial number and I do not have it?

Make sure you're interpreting zeros and Os correctly. If the SN has an uppercase o and you enter a zero, it will not accept it and vice versa. Unfortunately, Apple uses a sans serif font for the SN, which makes it difficult to differentiate certain characters.
You can call AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE and explain your problem. Maybe if you offered to fax your serial number page from the FCS package, it would help. That's what I did for a support client of mine one time.

Absolutely. Go to File->Export->QuickTime Movie (do NOT use QuickTime Conversion). Make sure you check the Self-Contained box. The export will be an exact copy of your Sequence, complete with any filters or other effects you've added. Import the self-contained movie back into the project (or another project) if needed.
