Scripts in an action CS5/Mac

I have several Applescripts that are loaded into the Script menu. I also have several actions that are easier to use as actions and at least one that cannot be replicated using Applescript. I'd like to consolidate them into just one interface on the Action panel. I've tried to make an action that calls the menu item for a script, but after quitting Illustrator and starting it again, the script is always removed from the action I made.
Any suggestions, or do I log this as a bug?
Or, if anyone has a javascript that can successfully change the document color mode to CMYK that would be fantastic. That function isn't available in Applescript.
Thanks

My solution is to use GUI scripting to fake a menu item click. What a farce though! I can NOT believe how the Ai team could let this *vital* function be unscriptable for 10 years! I just posted (probably the 3rd time) in the bug report area about fixing it. I hope ANYONE who also needs this function will post a bug report and demand this be fixed asap.
Here's the web addy for bug report:

  • Disappearing line numbers CS5 - Mac

    Hi, thanks for stopping by
Has anyone come across this? I suspect it's a bug, though a minor one. I've not reported it though thought about it.
    CS5 - Mac 10.6.4
    ******BUG******
Concise problem statement: Disappearing line numbers
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Open page (Mine tend to be local, php)
    2. Split screen view (line numbers should be visible)
    3. In the code view hit the return key for a new line
Results: The line numbers disappear though in the menu View > Code View Options > Line numbers is still ticked.
Unticking and then reticking the menu option seems to bring them back and they stay then as though hitting the return key shortly after opening the window/splitting the view (with few if any actions in between) is part of it.
Has anyone come across this and if so anyone cured it? Cheers.

Thank you for the complete summary of the symptoms and how to reproduce it.  I have not noticed this in DW CS5 on my iMac, but I'll whip up a test case and post back with the results.

  • Is there an AppleScript or Automator Script that will wake a Mac from Sleep?

Is there an AppleScript or Automator Script that will wake a Mac from Sleep?

    Frank and All,
The following answer to your question above is complicated, but I hope it explains why my question was formed with so much frustration in it.
I have an OpenOffice(OO) Macro that was launched with Calendar at 6pm each business night. It ran properly in all Apples operating systems until I Hit Maverick(OSX10.9). From then on, the AppleScript would run from one to 3 days, then would disappear from the Calendar entry. The Calendar alert would still run, but the "OpenFile" section of the alert would disappear. I also was running elgato EyeTV HD during the day, so I would use energy saver to put my MacBook Pro to sleep at 12 Midnight and wake it again at 9am. I picked up a used Mac Mini to do the EyeTV stuff, provide AppleTV the files in H264 format through iTunes' media share, and found it had plenty of power to do the 6pm automated stuff simultaneously as well. Because I still wanted to run the OpenOffice Macro on my MacBook Pro at 6pm, and wanted to use it for a host of other things when I was on the road, I wanted it to sleep most of the time and only wake up automatically to run the 6pm OO Macro. When I called Apple about the issue I was having with Maverick and Calendar loosing the OpenFile command as part of the Alert Message, they told me the no longer supported answering AppleScript Questions but they now would support Automator questions. I pointed out that the OpenFile would also fail after one to three days if I used a Calendar Alert to launch an Automator App. At first, I did not like Automator, but now I see why Apple is pushing us to use it. Automator adds a TIME STAMP ID to the Apps developed in Automator so the first time you launch the App after a change to it, you must reply to a dialog message saying that this is the first time you are running this version of the App. If a Scammer has replaced your app with one that can reek havoc on your computer, the replacement app will not run unless you are there to agree that you know where the modified app came from and click the OK button to continue (BRILLIANT, Enhanced Security idea on Apples part). I also noticed that after Mountain Lion, the Applescript delay timing was all screwed up as well. Well I tried to use LaunchD Task Scheduler to circumvent the Calendar Problem and that worked until I upgraded to Yosemite Last week. Then LaunchD no longer worked and I am only into a few days of using The Calendar Launched Automator App to see if it will continue to run.
But I think I solved the dilemma I was having with opening an Automator App in a Sleeping Mac. I Googled up the following question, "AppleScript to wake up computer".  I went thru several complex responses until I found this on that is INCREDIBLE EASEY! What came back was a brettterpstra.com  response from Feb 20th,2014. What it said, in a Quick Tip: caffeinated your Terminal Article,  if you wanted to wake a Mac from sleep, use the Terminal command named "Caffeine -u -t 1". I placed it in an Automator Most Used Action called "Run Shell Script -- Caffeine -u -t 1" and it worked!  Now, I can put my Mac to Sleep but at 6pm, the Automator App will launch, run the "Caffeine -u- -t 1" command and proceed to work as if I had awakened the Mac From Sleep mode by pressing a keyboard key and had run the Automator Script with a double click.
Sorry for the long, drawn-out reply, but maybe this will help others.

  • I only ever activated one license for cs5 mac. Stuck using PC now. Help please.

Now I'm using a Wacom companion, and forced to operate windows on it. Isn't there something I can do or someone I can talk to in order to gain access on both operating systems?

A CS5 mac license is only for a Mac and cannot be exchanged for a PC. One way out is to upgrade for $200 to CS6 and order a free Platform swap to PC.
A better way is Creative Cloud Photography plan | Adobe Creative Cloud
You get Photoshop as part of the deal and can move between PC and Mac as much as you like. $10 monthly or $120 annual. All future upgrades and versions part of the deal.

  • Indesign CS4, CS5 Mac freezes/How can I get it to run?

I have been using Indesign CS5 Mac version. When I open it, after I make a new document, the color wheel keeps spinning until I force-close the program or restart my machine. I have taken CS5 off of my system and reloaded it with the same conclusion. Because I needed to use Indesign, I loaded version CS4, but came up with the same exact problem: the color wheel spinning continuously right after I have opened a new document.
    Any suggestions?

  • InDesign CS5 (Mac OS 10.6) can not open its own file

I need guidance to open an artwork file that in one hour I have to send to the print shop. InDesign refuses to open its own file.
    Any clue? Adobe, please help.

Re: InDesign CS5 (Mac OS 10.6) can not open its own file
    Bob and Peter
Thank your for helping us out. It was really necessary to ask a coworker to open the file and export it in InDesign markup language.
Three hours later than expected, but it's done!
We are stuck here. I'm a Master Collection user of CS5, using only Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge and Acrobat Pro. (I don't know why I bought the Master's). My coleague former Window user, got a Mac in May and downloaded the trial version of Design Studio Standard Collection of CS5.5. Before expiring, we purchased its license and filled it in the active trial version.
A couple of months ago we noticed that were missed Plug Ins on his version and contacted Adobe who instructed us to download the whole files again. We never did because it is a pain to get rid of the missing parts of a pre installed trial version etc.
I will ask Adobe to send a CD disk for his version.
    Regards,
    Junia

  • Extract filter in CS5 (Mac)

I just got CS5 last week and I'm trying to use the Extract filter but can't seem to find it anywhere. If I remember correctly, I had to download the plugin for CS4 but I don't see anything for CS5, only for Windows. What's up with that? Can anyone tell me if there's a plugin for PS CS5 Mac yet? Thank you in advance.

on same drive as OS X (and OS X was and is running Leopard and not SL or Lion)
Only CD #1 I can think of is XP SP2?
Well, that is what backups are for, system restore image, WinRE CD (WinRE3 is latest).
XP: reinstalls I've read pretty much had to be done twice a year to keep Registry and system running properly.
Malware? maybe not current or something.
Was low on disk space and now has issues
Not sure why "it" won't be accepted.
With Mac Pro, pull all the drives anyway other than the one with Windows and use Windows 7 Pro (dual cpu sockets, 64-bit).
Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 with EFI32 do have issues with booting and installing 64-bit Windows.

  • Merge to HDR Pro, Photoshop CS5 Mac

    Hello,
I'm using Photoshop CS5 Mac. When I select "File>Automate>Merge to HDR Pro…>" then Browse to "Adobe Photoshop CS5>Samples>Merge to HDR" and select the 4 jpg images, Photoshop merges the images and opens a window that says Merge to HDR (xx%) at the top.  Everything seems fine except the thumbnail images across the bottom are cropped off, their names and check box's aren't visible, and both the Cancel & Ok buttons are missing.
If I grab the window expansion in the lower right corner I can change the aspect of the window but the issues I'm having with the view do not change.  I can hit return and the system will generate the HDR image. Also if I select "About Merge to HDR" when the Merge to HDR window is open nothing happens.
Can someone tell me if there is a setting I need to change in order to get the window to view correctly or is this a coding bug?  I'm using an early intel iMac 17" with and additional Mac 20" monitor attached.  Mac OS 10.6.4, Photoshop 12.0 x32.  The iMac is set to 1440x900 and the Cinema Display is set to 1680x1050.
    Thanks for your time.

Here is the official KnowledgeBase document for the issue. Also, feel free to look at some of the other forum threads covering this (search: HDR OK Cancel)
Feedback on this workaround is appreciated.

  • I have CS5 Mac, can I open a CS8 PC file?

    I have CS5 Mac, can I open a CS8 PC file?

There is no such thing as CS8 but CS5 cannot open any INDD file created in a later version. You’ll need to get an IDML file.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Mac 10.6.5 not releasing memory

I have a Mac Pro running 10.6.5 Mac OS, 16GB Ram that I just installed today (had 8GB).  I opened up a rather large 11 minute PPro project.  I rendered it out.  Noticed that the Used Memory was getting larger, up to about 10GB where it leveled off for the remainder of the render.  After the render was done, the used memory stayed at 10GB.  I exited PPro, and it stayed 10GB.  Seems like it's not releasing the memory back to available or am I not understanding how either the Mac OS works with regards to memory or perhaps PPro?

Yes, that appears to be the problem. I disconnected my secondary monitor (which does have a different vertical resolution) and the eyedropper appears to function properly.
Okay, so now I know the cause of the issue. However, disconnecting and reconnecting monitors is not an acceptable workflow. Apparently this problem affects quite a few Premiere Pro CS5 Mac users with dual monitors since you referred to it as a know issue with all versions of Mac OS. Do you know if there is an update (not an upgrade) for Premiere Pro CS5 to address this?
    Thanks.

  • Text tool broken Fireworks CS5 Mac NL

The text tool on my fresh installed Fireworks CS5 Mac (dutch language interface) is not working at all...
When i select the text tool and draw a square were i want to have the text, typing on the keyboard activates all kinds of tools in the toolbox (probably the keyboard-shortkey-letter for that tool), in stead of producing text in that square!!
What am i doing wrong? It seems to be an error in the software, but the update-mechanism says there no updates available. Thanks in advance!

That's not a known problem, and I cannot reproduce it on my Mac. You might want to call Adobe  technical support.
