scroll ball doesn't work. there is nothing like NOKIA as we can easily view messages through NOKIA PC Suite

what u can try to do is to press the ball a little harder while scrolling this can take the dust out of the device.
or if u are really handy you can take out the ball to clean it yourself
else it is an internal problem that can only be solved by sending it to a repair center

Not sure exactly what you mean. It may be that you have continuous view activated, rather than the page view.

The mouse scroll wheel doesn't work with Xorg

I recently installed Solaris 10 on my x86 box. One issue is that the mouse scroll wheel doesn't work with Xorg. Hmmm... Okay, it sometimes did work, and most of the time went on strike, and recovered at random. This pattern continued.
My mouse is an ordinary PS/2 one with two buttons and a scroll wheel. I want to promise that there's absolutely nothing wrong with it per se. Here is some info:

The 6.2.9 updater is available http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/appleworks629formac.htmlhere. Note that the updater is language specific. The one at the top of the list is for the International English version of AppleWorks. The US English version is the one in the box at the upper right, identified only by its file size.

Mouse scroll ball doesn't launch Dashboard any more

I have my scroll ball button on my mouse set in System Preferences to start Dashboard. In the last day it has quit working. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to get it working again? It still works for scrolling and when I press it it starts a menu that launches:
Start in Spotlight
Start in Google
Look up in Dictionary
Cut
Copy
Paste etc...

Yes tried both killall Finder and killall Dock to no avail.
I just got off the phone with AppleCare they're sending a new one. Dang, I really wanted this one to last a long time!

Mouse scroll-down doesn't work....

LIttle trackball for scrolling on my mouse doesn't work when attempting to scroll down. I've looked at the pref settings for it, and it all seems fine. It will move in all other directions, just not down.
Advice please?

Glad it worked. Folks seem to have varying probs w the scroll wheel. I have been lucky. 1st one lasted 4 months and would not clean. Free replacement. This one is now going on a year w a couple of minor cleans.

HELPPPP KEYPAD/BALL DOESN'T WORK

So I went biking last sunday and it poured... and of course, my phone was in my bag which got soaked. Luckily, my phone wasn't completely destroyed but it seems like it suffered some water damage. When the battery is in the phone turns on/resets but none of the buttons work and the ball doesn't either. I am incredibly confused. Also, my alarm that is usually set for 9 AM goes off every day at 9 AM and the only way to turn it off is to take out the battery. I can also charge my phone and I will see my background/notifications for a second and then it flashes back to the clock which I cannot press end and make it go away because none of the keys work.
Any ideas?

If the ball in the mouse isn't the problem then try logging into your Guest account and see if scrolling works as expected in that account.

Laptop touchpad scroll button doesn't work in Firefox but works in other progs. I have tried changing mousewheel.withnokey settings as per Firefox help.

I have an Acer Laptop Aspire 1690
I've installed the latest driver from the Acer website.
I can use the scroll button ok in outlook express, internet explorer, adobe pdf reader, etc but not in firefox.
I've searched the help in here and tried changing the mousewheel.withnokey settings. But still not working.
Any ideas?

Try this :
For all who have problem with the standard ALPS touchpad driver in firefox 4; here is a quick registry fix: 1) Open registry with regedit 2) Search for following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alps\Apoint 3) Set ScrMethod to 1 4) Reboot
After that scrolling in FF4 should be possible.
For me it works with a Acer Aspire

My sroll pad button wont work on my menu screen or my media screen but it works everywhere else! I updated the software and it still doesnt work!

UP and DOWN SCROLL does not work on the MAIN PAGE and some other pages. But it works on the other page. UNLOCK BUTTON on top does not work either. It all happened yesterday and it just did not want to work. I tried to update and sync it and it STILL DID NOT WORK... HELP!

Just downloaded Firefox and love it, but my scroll feature doesn't work in this browser. Can this be turned on?

I cannot scroll by running my finger along the mouse. I must move over to the sidebar and pull it down. My scroll setting is still turned on within system preferences. Is there a way to turn scrolling on within Firefox? Thanks.

Super Monkey Ball doesn't work

I don't know what i'm doing wrong but this game just won't play properly. The game world just tips backwards and tilting left and right doesn't seem to do an awful lot. What is wrong? The app or my iPhone?

I would set up a meeting with a genius at your local Apple store. Have them look your iPhone over. If it doesn't seem to be responding to your movement of the phone, it might have a hardware issue.

Scrolling doesn't work on some applications

I'm using the program Notepadd++ and I can't use the touchpad to scroll. I've connected a USB mouse, and scrolling works fine with that device. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, etc, and it still has the same problem. Scrolling also doesn't work when watching flash videos on Firefox. Once again, scrolling works just fine when using a USB mouse.

After doing a little research, it seems like it is the programs are conflicting with the driver and you are not the only one to experience this.
Here is what I found to fix the issue in Notepad++. Note that it requires editing registry, so depending on how comfortable you are with that or not, it is up to you if you want to try this fix or not. I would always recommend backing up the registry before changing anything.
"It seems that whatever the Synaptics driver is doing to render the scrolling cursor is confusing Notepad++.
If you go to HKLM\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh and add a new DWORD named UseScrollCursor with a value of 0, the scroll cursor won't appear and vertical scrolling will work in Notepad++."

Auto-scrolling doesn't work when JFrame is not visible

Hi, I have auto-scrolling implemented for my JTextPane that sits in JScrollPane - which lives in JInternalFrame. It works as excepted - as long as my application's JFrame is visible. When the JFrame becomes invisible, auto-scrolling simply doesn't work anymore.
I've overcame this by scrolling down in "windowShown", but it's ugly because the user can visually see the scroll down when using this workaround (it jumps).
I guess this is Swing's optimization, but I would really like to overcome it in someway. But it seems I'm not enough a swing hacker to do it.
One thing to note is thtat, the auto-scrolling works fine when the JInternalFrame is NOT visible, but frame is.
I've tried to override the isShowing-method of JInternalFrame, with no luck.
Here's my scrolling method:

At some point I had really hard time getting the auto-scrolling to work, as I got these weird little bumps after scrolling down.
Adding scrollBar.setValue() seemed to 'just fix it'. It actually seems to be superfluous now.
The scrolling is already wrapped in SwingUtilities.invokeLater() - in conjuction with printing text into the JTextPane and it works OK.
I had some wrong info in the first post, the viewport actually does get scrolled down even when the JFrame is not visible. And by visible I mean JFrame.setVisible(false) - my application has a minimize-to-tray feature, which hides the JFrame.
So I think the problem is 'just' a repainting problem. When the frame is shown, the previous scroll location is first displayed, and then a repaint is triggered that causes the 'jump down'.
I'm not still sure how to fix it though.

Might mouse scroll ball issue

I got my Might Mouse just about a year ago. I'm having issues with the scroll ball. It works scrolling up with no problem, but scrolling down it does not work. To be clear, it can scroll but it doesn't make the page on Safari scroll down with it.
Anyone else have this issue? Any way to clean it?
