Scroll bar navigation w/mouse very erratic - not good

Doing the kind of work we do, we navigate around imagery @ high magnifications using the scroll bars on the bottom and right side of a floating image window. I just discovered that this single-click-moves-one-screen view behavior that we have grown to depend on in every previous version of PS is broken/erratic/not reliable at all in CS6.
On my pc I'm using a Logitech G500 gaming mouse with programmable sensitivity, so I thought that might be the problem. But my coworkers (we have 5 additional CS6 installs at the moment, all up to date) using standard Dell mice are encountering the exact same problem - if you do not tap the left click with just the right pressure the screen will advance TWO places - or sometimes not at all. A normal mouse click will advance the screen two places. My pc has a different video card that the rest as well, and I've tried the basic, normal advanced and no GPU support NO change in this behavior.
This is a real deal breaker AFA getting CS6 integrated into our shop. I can grudgingly put up with some of the pointless UI changes made in this version, but to have such a basic and essential navigation tool busted 'out of the box' on 6 different computers is totally unacceptable.
Any help would be appreciated...

Sorry, didn't see your thread until now.
If you click on a scroll bar in Photoshop CS6 it will immediately repeat without waiting the normal amount of time before repeating, which yields multiple page scrolls.
This seems to be a departure from more or less standard UI behavior of the past, where there is a slight delay before the repeat starts - though Photoshop isn't the only application to do it (Internet Explorer is another offender).  It's been known since Photoshop CS6 was first released.  I believe it may even have been reported in the public beta.  I wouldn't bet that this isn't the intended behavior.
A workaround is to click the mouse right next to the scroll thumb, which will result in a one page scroll operation.
Note:  It may be that a configurable delay value somewhere in the system is affecting the timing.  I have purposefully shortened several delays on my system to make it more responsive, so what I'm seeing may not be what people see in the general case.
-Noel
P.S., I can pretty consistently reproduce the problem where it won't scroll at all by clicking in the scroll bar (causing a page scroll), then clicking again soon thereafter.
P.P.S., I just re-tested:  I can reproduce the expected behavior, including a short (near half second) initial delay and consistent response to clicking with Photoshop CS5 on this same system.  Photoshop CS6 definitely degrades the scrolling experience.

  • Magic Mouse very erratic in mapping apps

    Hi all, I have found Magic Mouse to be very erratic in mapping apps and at map web sites online. I think this is an over sinsitivity of the touch area. Usually these map apps and sites let you zoom in and out with your scroll wheel. What I am finding, when I click the map to pan, the map will zoom in and out rappedly. I imagine this is because of the pressure I am using to keep it clicked in to grab the map. And that a slight change force at the finger tip makes the thing assume I am scrolling.
    One thing I do with touch pads is tell them to ignore accedental commands. The Magic Mouse control pannel does not have this sensitivity ability.
    Not sure if there is anything that can be done about this. I may utilize a track-ball that I have when in these apps in the future.

    I discovered this.
    By keeping three (3) fingers on the mouse (Magic Mouse), mapping software will ignore scrolling input.
    This technique stops the erradic scrolling and zooming of the map.

  • Custom Scroll Bar (value before mouse buttonrelease)

    Hi Forte Users,
    Has anyone been able to modify the scroll bar so that the value was
    continually updated?
    Basically I want to be able to change a value in a DataField while the
    scroll is moved, not after the mouse button is released.
    The AfterValueChanged event will only be posted once the mouse button is
    released therefore I used a Timer.Tick event to continually poll the scroll
    bar for its value but found that this value also only changed when the
    mouse button was released.
    Any help would be appreciated,

  • IPhoto on Ipad 3: Scroll bar for lighter/darker/sharper/saturation not working

    Hello,
    I tried to make the sky darker with the brush and that worked. The sky was way darker, but the scroll bar to adjust the degree of darkness (and lighter and sharper and saturation) is not working. There is not any difference at all if I move the scroll bar to the right or to the left.
    I have the same problem with the saturation and sharpness. I can select the area and see an obvious difference, but cannot select the amount of correction with the scroll bar. Nothing happens when I move it...
    Did I forgot something? Does anybody have the same problem? Is it a software failure? I am using a new Ipad 3 with iOS5.
    Thanks!
    Tom

    Hello,
    after 3 days still not a single reply...
    Does anybody have problems to set the degree of brush correction (darker/lighter/saturation/sharpness)?
    I reinstalled the program, but the scrollbar is still not working.
    Is there any other way to reach Apple support? They have great products, but are definitely lacking in support...
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Disable / hide ALV scroll bar (Navigation Pane)

    Hello,
    is there a way to disable or hide the scroll bar in an ALV table? in other words I wanna display all
    the data in an ALV table without having to scroll down.
    Thanks,
    Abdul.

    Hi, you can use the table configuration to control this. set_visible_row_count to -1.
    data:
    l_salv_wd_table type ref to iwci_salv_wd_table,
    l_table type ref to cl_salv_wd_config_table.
    l_salv_wd_table = wd_this->wd_cpifc_usage_alv( ).
      l_table = l_salv_wd_table->get_model( ).
      l_table->if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_visible_row_count( -1 ).

  • Scroll bar is not working since last updates

    my scroll bar on laptop mouse pad no longer works in browser since last update. It works fine in all other programs.

  • In Columns mode, Preview QTs no longer have scroll bars...Why?

    I used to really like looking for files in the Finder mode, in the Column view; then finding the QT, and previewing it in the Preview column, complete with scroll bar. That was the Old Days. Is there anyway in Leopard to get the scroll bar back? (BTW, I'm not a fan of the Space Bar Preview, unless someone can tell me a way to keep the preview playing even after I click into another window/app.)
    Thanks!

    I think the answer is "fashion" or the latest interface thing.... Anyway, what ya get now is the little play button smack dab in the middle of the preview, just like YouTube! Only better! Because this play button doesn't appear until you mouse over the preview button! Isn't that cool? No? Tell Apple what you think of this devolution of usefulness:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
    So if you want to have a scrollbar that you can scrub you must use QuickLook (the spacebar thing). But all you can do with volume in the scrub bar is mute it. And you can't switch to something else while it plays. If you want it to play when you switch you have to use the play button in the Preview pane. But you can't scrub when you switch back.

  • Web Gallery Scroll Bar Slider Problem

    Hi,
    I'm running Windows XP Professional and Lightroom 1.3.1. I seem to have a problem with the functionality of the sliders in the scroll bars of the web galleries that I make. I use the Flash templates.
    I can drag the slider to move through the thumbnails. But when I click in the open area of the scroll bar to scroll forward or backward a page at a time, nothing happens. That functionality seems to be missing. My cursor will change to a pointed finger when it moves across the slider bar, and the up and down arrows at the ends of the scroll bar. It will not change when I place it in the open area of the scroll bar, indicating that the functionality does not exist.
    This seems very odd and contrary to the global behavior of slider bars in all other applications, including within Lightroom.
    Any idea what's going on and any solutions?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi...
    Please check in your application parameters. Did you declare wdtablenavigation parameter?
    and check table properties like scrollbarvisible always  or none...

  • Those darn Scroll Bars!!

    Ive looked at and tried many different tuts for adding a scroll bar to a JTextArea in my JFrames but they never seem to work... can someone please write me a small sample code for it? Heres a skeleton code for you to use if you want to help me...
    import java.awt.Container;
    import java.awt.Dimension;
    import java.awt.Toolkit;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.JTextArea;
    public class thoseDarnScrollBars extends JFrame
         JTextArea textBox;
         Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
    public static void main(String[] args)
              thoseDarnScrollBars frame = new thoseDarnScrollBars();
              frame.setVisible(true);
    public thoseDarnScrollBars()
              Container c = getContentPane();
              setTitle("SCROLL BAR!");
              setSize(400, 300);
              setLocation(((int)screenSize.getWidth()/2)-(getWidth()/2), ((int)screenSize.getHeight()/2)-(getHeight()/2)); // center the box into the middle of the screen
              c.setLayout(null);
              textBox = new JTextArea("");
              textBox.setSize(390, 290);
              textBox.setLocation(5,5);
              c.add(textBox);
              setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    }if someone could just take this code from me and add a working scroll bar i would be VERY thankful to you!

    oh... well i like it and im gunna use it for the time being (I never publish my programs, im not skilled enough to, I still just write programs to keep myself learning to gain knowledge of the Java language before I start moving onto the proper coding methods (And I know, its always best to start of with good habits so that you dont stick with the bad ones). Ill start working with BorderLayout later on)
    But ive figured out how to make it work with null as the layout:
    textBox = new JTextArea();
    JScrollPane scroll = new JScrollPane(textBox);
    scroll.setSize(390, 290);; //set parameters for scroll as if it were for the text box in the way you would if scroll wasnt involved
    scroll..setLocation(5,5);;//set parameters for scroll as if it were for the text box in the way you would if scroll wasnt involved
    textBox.setBackground(Color.BLUE);//background and foreground parameters must be set to the textBox and not scroll
    mainWindow.add(scroll);---EDIT---
    NullLayout should never be used.And technically its not "NullLayout", its just "null" =)
    Im just bein a... jerk?

  • Annoying Finder Horizontal Scroll Bar

    I have an annoying Finder issue with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8 and maybe someone knows how to fix.  When I have a folder displayed, like the Applicaitons folder, with View opton set to "as List" the Finder displays a long horizontal scroll bar at the bottom that is active. How can I lock or anchor the horziontal scroll bar to the left side. It really gets to be annoying as you mouse scroll up and down the list.  I have the same issue in with Excel and Numbers. If it cannot be locked to the left, can it be disabled or deleted?

    I just made each item listed the min width and this let me resize the window to ditch the horziontal scroll bar. This helped but did not solve the issue on how to lock it to the left or turn it OFF.
    Thanks

  • Scroll Bar Width Adjustment

    This is a change suggestion for future releases.
    I would like to see an option to adjust the width of the scroll bars? In the library module, the scroll bars on the far left and far right are too narrow. I frequently miss the scroll bar with my mouse and the entire panel disappears.
    I am currently using Lightroom 2.1 for Windows.

    You guys aren't getting it. What Jeff is asking is HOW TO INCREASE
    THE WIDTH OF THE SLIDER BARS.
    Whether someone thinks "you really don't need to" is irrelevant. We want to center these images at higher magnifications. Just because you can put your cursor
    on the image and use the scroll wheel to make it go up and down doesn't mean you can make the image go right and left at the same time. Personally, I'd like to use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out (done in preferences, yes). But if you've ever tried to place your cursor on these narrow bars before you start
    moving the scroll wheel you know it's hell to hit those things very
    easily because they are barely 1/4" wide.
    So the question remains: How can a user increase the width
    of these narrow little bars? Is there a way to do this?

  • How can I get a scroll bar at the bottom of the page so I can see the right side of the page when I am using two windows?

    With two or three pages open, I have scroll bars that allow me to see the right side of the other pages, but not on the Firefox page.

    Thank you for the reply, Fred, but when I went to my saved screenshot, I realized that the shortcut on my desktop had opened in IE, not Firefox. There is no scroll bar and the directional arrows do not work. My daughter has been playing with my laptop again. When I set up the same conditions with Firefox, there is no scroll bar, but the arrows function properly, so I can read to the right edge of the page. Now to find someone who knows IE11. Thanks again, for your reply.

  • Scroll bar in CC 2014

    I am using StaticMultiLineTextWidget and ScrollBarWidget (vertical). I have associated the scroll bar widget with the multiline widget so that it works with it. I see that in CC 2014, the scroll bar appears with top and bottom arrows but the scroll bar thumb doesn't appear.
    Note that the same works fine in CS6. Has there been any change in CC 2014?

    I found this workaround to avoid this issue,
    We need to set the text of the StaticMultiLineTextWidget programatically (i.e. get the ITextControlData of that widget and call SetString() method.). If the initial text is set in the .fr resource file then the scroll widget doesn't work.
    This worked for me and I hope for others also. So I posted the workaround here just in case if someone else face the similar issue.

  • Lost Finder Horizontal Scroll Bar

  • I want my horizontal scroll bar!

    It is unbelievably tedious to have to open the custom zoom widget in order to accomplish something as simple as a horizontal scroll in a document -- particularly since the custom zoom widget cannot be moved over to the side where the bookmarks pane is. Instead, I have to open it, move the window, close it to actually see, lather, rinse, repeat.
    Come on, please give us a horizontal scroll bar!

    Hi Ric,
    Very interesting. I don't need a horizontal scroll bar *all* the time, but when I'm zoomed in closer than the width of the page -- well, I sure as heck need it then. :-) I would guess that most people would like the horizontal scroll bar to appear/disappear based on whether it's relevant. That would be OK with me.
    The reason I use Adobe Digital Editions is to read case studies for business school -- that is to say, for reference and citation purposes. That's why multiple docs is important. And a lot of these cases, it turns out, have mixed portrait/landscape orientation. Most of the case will be in portrait, but some exhibits will be landscape -- that's when I most need the horizontal scrolling, for landscape-oriented stuff.
