Scroll bars in Lion - Not what I was expecting

On upgrading to Lion, which was relatively painless, I was surprised at the lack of control that I now have with the scroll bars. Previous versions have always had some way to increment/decrement position using arrow heads, but Lion doesn't give me any option to do this. I find it deeply frustrating. I can't believe I am th eonly one who is experiencing this so either you all do things differently to me or I haven't figured out the best way to use it (or change it).
I am right in thinking there is no option to change this behaviour?

Hi Tom,
I thought that was the case.
The rest of Lion works fine and I can do everything else so it is only these blasted scroll bars that give me grief.
I do have Snow Leopard backed up on a NAS, and I have the original Snow Leopard disc. All data is double backed so no problem to rebuild if needs be. I'm just amazed that the scroll bars have been so badly designed in a system that gets everything else right.

Scroll bar on editor not working

I recently upgraded to phtoshop elments 11.0 to 13.0
In the editor mode I cannot use the scroll bar. The scroll bar works fine in the orgnizaer mode. I have tried three different mouses and there is no difference.

I am using Windows 7 Professional
In the organizer portion the scroll bar moves. When I put my mouse or
arrow on the scroll bar and drag it then of course I move through the different
rows of folders or rows of pictures once in the photo bin.
It was doing it with Photoshop Elements 11.0 and I thought 13.0 might fix
the problem and the scroll bar did move on the first try but not since then.
When I try and load the photo bin and I am choosing the right folder to
load the scroll bar just does not move. I can select the right folder by
using my up and down arrow or the page up and down and then click on the right
folder and then it loads.
Once I get the right folder of pictures loaded and once I finish the first
row of pictures I cannot use my mouse and arrow to drag the scroll bar
down to get to the next row of pictures. I can place my arrow on my mouse
below the scroll bar and got to the next row but I usually get only half the
picture and sometimes only 1/4 of it but I can usually get it loaded up and
edit the pictures and move on the next picture but it is very slow and
frustrating.
Any help would be appreciated.
I protested to an adobe supervisor and I got an e-mail and somebody is
supposed to call me tomorrow so hopefully then can log on to my computer and
see what I am talking about.
Sound like something got corruped in the editor mode only. I tried 3
different mouses and even the computer mouse and no difference.

JComboBox scroll bar thumb does not move

I have an application that is using a third-party panel class that extends JPanel. For some reason my JComboBox scroll bar thumbs do not move unless the pop-up menu viewport extends outside the frame boundary. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or have any suggestions on how I might trouble shoot the problem? I would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Arrgh, I first reported this behavior (well, alright, I was using a table control/indicator, not the MCL) back in LabVIEW 8.0. The discussion thread can be found on the LAVA forums, starting September 14, 2006. In that discussion, Scott Menjoulet and jhoskins seemed to be able to work around it with the "custom control in a project fix", but I could never get that to work, at least not when I built the custom table into an executable. I filed a bug report on the next beta cycle, but I can't find my old bug reports/CARs online anymore.
But I'm reasonably certain it's been an identified bug since 8.5.

Front pannel scroll bar get disabled(not visible)

Hi,
I am facing some strange problem with Lab View front pannel. I am doing some expriement with PictRing vi which is in Ring&Enum. Then while doing this I lost my scroll bar(both vertical & horizontal) from front pannel. But it's present in block diagram of same vi. I deleted the PictRing vi and restarted my pc considering it may visible the scroll bar but it's not working. If I create new vi their on front pannel scroll bar is appearing. What might be a problem with my vi?

What version of LV are you using? Can you post your VI? I would be happy to take a look see.
Is it possible that you turned scrollbars off?
Got to VI Properties>>Window Appearance>>Customize and make sure that the checkboxes next to Vertical/Horizontal Scrollbars are turned on.
If you are using multiple panes you may have to turn scrollbars on individually. You do this by right-clicking on a splitter and selecting the visiblity of the scrollbars on a per-pane basis.
Finally, if you have set the option "Fit Control to Panel/Pane" this can also turn off your scrollbars. Again, you can just reenable them via the VI Properties box or the splitter popups.

Scroll bars in Lion

How do I adjust the scroll bars in Lion? I want the scroll bars to be visible always, and wide (like they were in previous operating systems).
In Lion, when I open a file, the scroll bar is invisible. To get the scroll bar to appear, I have to stab blindly for the thing, until I get lucky and hit it. Then, when the scroll bar does appear, it is excruciatingly narrow, and I have to really focus all of my mental powers in order to hit the darn thing.

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

I hate the narrow scroll bars in Lion. How to adjust?

I recently upgraded to Lion, which all seems realtively nice and well designed to me. In years of Apple developments, I have learned to appreciate the changes and gradually have come to appreciate most of the stuff they come up with. One thing really annoys me seriously, though, and that is the very narrow scroll bars! When I could easily find the scroll bar in 10.5, an 6. I now have to waste my energy on pointing the mouse at the very narrow scroll bar. Who the **** had the great idea to narrow it? There is NO WAY I can live with this.
Has anyone come up with a fix? If this is not fixable, I will downgrade to 10.6 again.

But you miss the point: I am annoyed with the GUI designers for falling in love with their own design and not letting users choose what is best for their own workflow. This is a 'forced' change and a basic violation of all design philosophy. What would you say if the gearchange in your car had been reversed after a visit to the garage? Exactly! To force users to change their workflow is actually very arrogant.
Lion is a New OS. If I purchased a new car that had a new shift pattern, It should not be a suprise as I would have (should have) researched and test drove the auto before purchasing. A quick trip to the Apple Store, or reading on-line reviews would have allerted you to the change in scrollers

Scroll bar visible but not able to scroll in custom screen for IW21

Hi,
We are using custom tab (screen exit) in transaction for creating notifications (TCode IW21). Two subscreens are configured to be embedded in the tab, combined area of which is exceeding screen size vertically. The scroll bar is visible in the tab but is not able to scroll using mouse scroll, but can be dragged up and down.
Does anyone know how to make it scrollable or make the scroll bar visible at application level (not in tab) and make it working?

When I try to open/print or save to hard drive /print a PDF sent me as an email attachment, Firefox won't print. I WILL tell me what top do to FAX something, which is not what I was trying to do.

I opened this same PDF a week ago and was able to print it. I was just trying to print a spare copy today. I was able to get it to work by accessing my email through another browser. But, in Firefox, it didn't want to print. It was only interested in telling me what I needed to do uin order to fax something.

Ok two things based on the crash report and the steps you took right before the crash:
# Try to disable scrolling acceleration and restart Firefox. Does it continue to crash?
# Try Safe Mode and do the same task as above with email and the pdf [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
# Also pdf.js may be helpful to read pdfs in the meantime. You can change the default reader in the Preferences/Options > Application menu of Firefox.
# Try to clear out the downloads folder and update flash to version 14 (that should do it)
IF it crashes again please also provide the new crash signatures and we can take a look :-) Sorry for the crashing :-(

My first bill is not what I was told

My first bill was not $75 (as I had been led to believe) for monthly service but $77 plus $40 dollars for a variety of other extra charges. The $40 dollar charges were not explained and I could not get a real detail list of them on my first bill. This is false advertising! I was told that I could get a discount for signing up for automatic billing, but I did not get a discount and I did not see the discount written anywhere on the web site either. I was also told that I could get a discount for being elderly and disabled. Neither of those claims were true either. I am on a fixed income and can not afford extra expenses. You sales staff, web site and process mislead and confuse customers purposefully. I was not told that it would cost me $380 to get out of my two year commitment, but I found it in the fine print after I committed contractually. So far my experience with Verizon wireless service has shown to be corrupt in the lack of informing customers of their real costs. This is no way to run a business that needs to rely on reputation and word of mouth business. Your business is just another big corporation that is profiting from extreme greed without a care for their customers. Whatever happened to truth in advertising? Then the worst of it is that I cannot get a contact person to talk to that is not a sales person. It was one of their (several actually) sales staff that misled me to begin with. This note is the only forum I could find to complain.

The first bill is almost always higher because of prorated charges. So if your bill prints on the 15th and you started service on the 30th of the prior month, your first bill will have half a month's charge for the 30th-15th, then the usual month in advance charges for the 15th-14th of the next month. Discounts for autopay, I believe, take a month or two to show up. There is a plan for people 65+, and you should be able to change to that plan if you want to, just make sure the change is set to take place the first day of the next bill period.
The other $40 in charges probably include activation and possibly insurance on the phone, and you should be able to pull up a detailed bill in MyVerizon with each line charge described.
How did you start your service? Did you go to a store, call, or order online? The ETF for a smartphone is $350, not $380, and if you were not informed of that you should have been, although if I were setting up service with a contract, I ask the terms of the contract, like fees, time frame, service and all that. Did you enter the agreement under the impression that there was no penalty for early cancellation?
Finally, this is primarily a customer to customer forum with occasional input from reps. They are identified with a Verizon logo. If you need immediate action, you will need to call. I hope you are able to get everything straightened out and explained!

Scroll bar direction will not change

When I go to general preferences, there is no way to change the scroll direction any longer.

I know that is where it is suppose to be but it is not. I remember it being there at one time, but it is no longer available. I have the latest software and uodates.
I am using a microsoft mouse, could that be a problem?
