• Text not showing up on PHPBB forum posts

  There are 2 forums I visit regularly that are powered by phpbb. They work completely fine, but when I click on a post to read it, the text shows for about one second, then the post's box extends and there is nothing in it.   I have tested the first forum in both Safari and Firefox. I am getting a php error message from the servers for the second forum.
  For the sims99 forum, I am sometimes seeing what you are seeing using Safari. Sometimes I can read the posts and sometimes the text clears, the box expands down the page, and it remains empty. I cannot determine why one time I will get the blank, expanded post boxes and other times I will not. I will be able to read a topic, go back to it to see blank boxes, but then be able to read it, or not, on the third try. I can see no pattern.
  Using Firefox, I am getting a more consistent pattern. I will click on a topic. The text will appear and then clear. I will momentarily see both horizontal and vertical scroll bars in each post box. These will then disappear and the text will come back.
  This behavior is not generic to php boards but is caused by how this particular forum was set up. I have not seen this behavior in any other php - or other - forums.
  All browsers on both Windows and the Mac cache pages on your computer to speed up surfing the web. Sometimes what is in the cache interferes with refreshing or using a page. To clear the cache in Safari, click on the Safari menu entry and choose "Empty Cache". However, in this particular case, clearing the cache had no effect.
  For now, if this is a forum you want to use, it does work using Firefox, so you might want to download and try this browser. I find that it is a good idea to keep an alternate browser on hand for when Safari comes across a web site it chokes on. There are close to a dozen very good to excellent browsers available for OS X and Firefox is one of the best, but you will find other users who will give you excellent reasons why they think some of the others are the best. Even in the Windows world, you will find that not all web sites are well behaved in all browsers.
  Two things you can do are to report this forum to Apple and to the forum's webmasters. To report the problem to Apple, go to the Safari menu and click on "Report Bugs to Apple" while you are on the forum. If you click on "More Options" you will be able to include the page source code and/or a screen shot. Give as much information as possible in the description. I cannot find webmaster or site contact info for the forum, but most of the announcements are posted by a user named Nova, you you might want to send a description of the problem to this user using the PM (Private Message) function.
  Congratulations on getting a Mac. I think you will continue finding it an excellent experience. And these forums are an excellent place to learn things, either by specifically asking questions or just by scanning the various topics.

• Multiple PHPBB forums

  I will be leasing a dedicated Windows Server 2008 server in a datacenter and I intend to host multiple websites with their own forums. I'm currently running on a Windows Server 2003 utilizing Snitz forum software and the Access DB. The Access DB
  is painfully slow and with Snitz no longer being supported I want to change format across the board.
  I intend on installing the PHPBB forums software utilizing the MS SQL Express 2014 DB.  I know nothing at this point of PHPBB or MS SQL Express 2014 other than having installed MS SQL Express 2014 on my local computer for testing.
  Before I get too involved in learning this I want to make sure that MS SQL Express 2014 will be able to run multiple forums that are unrelated and do not share DBs.  Anyone with any experience in this  please share as much as you will.

  While it is true that PHPBB is probably the best out there as far as active Windows/SQL compatibility, support for the Windows platform is still very light on the ground as you saw in the replies on your phpbb forums post.
  I started using phpbb on windows a long time ago, and the "just use Linux" response to problem I reported were very tiring. That was the main reason I wrote that blog post because there were just enough "gotchas" with a windows install
  that I kept forgetting them on the few occasions I wanted to re-install on a new server.
  SQLExpress is a bit more challenging to use due to the limited management, but the newer versions pretty much give you everything you need. Earlier version were so limited it was exceptionally difficult to configure for non-SQL people.
  As for other links, not really. I wrote that blog post because there was nothing else like a walk-through guide for Windows+SQL+IIS that I ever found.
  I'm happy to help out if I can with any specific questions or issues you encounter, and if there are things we learn from your different installation I can always update my blog post so other people doing the same thing can learn as well :)

• Scroll Bar removal from Jive Forums

  We are currently on Netweaver 7.0 SP15. We have downloaded Forums from service market place and deployed into our landscape. All the functionallities are working fine except that I get additional Vertical Scroll Bar.
  Has anyone else implemented this and we are using Light Framework Page.

  I am using Business Catalyst and Dreamweaver to create a trial site.
  I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this request but anyway I have inserted a photo gallery module at the bottom of the sidebar in the homepage of my test site.
  Can anyone advise on whether jquery or any other code can be inserted into the page or module code that will replace the "next" hyperlink below the first 4 photos with a horizontal scroll bar at bottom of the gallery so users can just scroll through all 12 images ?

• Horizontal Scroll Bar

  I have this site that I'm practicing on called

  it's been a work in progress for a while experimenting with Flash
  and Dreamweaver 8.
  In internet explorer my scroll bar situation works fine, in
  Fire Fox the unwanted horizontal scroll bar appears. At least at
  the moment I'm not concerned with other browsers. Can anybody tell
  me how to get rid of that little guy?
  I'm looking at the Validator and it is very overwealming to
  me as a beginner with the code.

• Scroll Bar Action

  Best explained by example:
  I have 2000 things of data that I need to populate to a table. This table is being refreshed every 5 seconds. You can imagine the slow down of having to do this. Now, I have method that will allow me to pull out only 25 at a time, and as needed. I want to set up a vertical scroll bar that will allow me to pull out the specific 25 based upon where the scroll bar is at. Like if I scroll half-way, it'll pull out 1000-1025 portions of data. The problem that I'm running into is that I can't get the scrolling to work properly. I've been using the:
  m_scrollPane.getVerticalScrollBar().setValues(cur_sel, DATABASE_SPACE, 0, tol_count);tol_count: how many is in the database total
  cur_sel: where the scroll bar is at currently
  DATABASE_SPACE: how many will populate (for this example, it's 25)
  Every time I attempt to scroll, it just resets back to 0, and doesn't even scroll down.
  Any and all ideas to help me with this problem would be great! Thanks

• Horizontal scroll bar in 1024x768 resolution

  I working in a older type HP notebook. ( Windows XP 32bit) This notebook max screen resolution is 1024x768
  A few days ago i update my Firefox.In the new version the websites wider than my screen and Firefox show the horizontal scroll bar, which is very annoying!

  Wow. Firefox 10 is terribly insecure and you should update to the latest version ASAP. Windows 7 is capable of handing 29.
  Also, I notice that in your original post you said you had Windows XP but your System Details (the computer you posted this question from) shows you running Windows 7 with Firefox 10.0.4. Which operating system are you using. I know an easier way to know.

• Horizontal Scroll bar in messgae window is a pain, can text be wrapped?

  I am new to Thunderbird but so far i am enjoying it compared to Entourage.
  I have one question regarding the horizontal scroll bar i see on some messages... Why on earth is this here? I really do not understand the logic in scrolling right to read an email, surely this text should wrap into the window space available rather than having to keep moving the scroll bar along?
  I have had a play around with the preferences but to no avail, can anyone point me in the right direction as this is becoming frustrating : ( :cry:
  Perhaps someone can develop this as an add on?

• Scroll bar issues

  My scroll bar doe not work in the Control Panel and possibly other areas.  When I try to drag it down, it goes back to the top, no matter if I use the wireless mouse or the lap top's finger pad.

  I see you are having some issues with your scroll bar. Check to make sure that End and Page Down keys are not sticking as this will cause your issue. Here is a document on Troubleshooting a Notebook Keyboard it is for Windows 8 but the Stuck key section is what you want. • Scroll bar, buttons and a Custom Component - help

  Thanks to another forum I was able to create a scroll panel and add a scroll bar to it.  That works fine.  Inside the scroll panel I have thumbnails of the product that I'm highlighting.  I want to be able to click on the thumbnail and have a full size photo of the product come up in the window next to the scroll panel.  I created a custom component that has a stage showing each full size product individually.  This worked fine when I simply had buttons and no scroll bar.  I could convert the thumbnail to a button and then add interaction so that it would go to the proper state of the custom component.  Where I'm having problems is now that I've imbedded the buttons in a scroll panel I'm no longer given the custom component as an option to pick from.  I can add interaction, but it only gives me the option of picking one of the pages, and not a component.
  I've attached a screen grab to help show what I'm describing.
  Any ideas?

  I have reviewed the video you refer to here, but you example still does not allow for individual items in the datalist (scrollbar) to be assigned individual actionable events.
  Can you expain your thinking in Option 1, as a workaround? Do you have any other suggestions?
  BOTTOM LINE
  We are all looking to do the same thing... something we are going to see A LOT MORE of after Uncle Steve's TABLET presentation next week:
  A scrolling menu, with selected items in the menu causing "navigation" to a certain point in a scroll panel. (imitating the flick or slide effect of iPhone).
  Suggestion: Can you add a field to thedatalist so that when the "repeated item" (in edit mode) is configuredto do an action (i.e., On-Click, Transition to State), we can then assign the state  you'd like for each item in thetable itself?
  Now the issue is making it change the "State" within another component (i.e. scrolling panel). Can that be done?
