Scroll Lock function with ultra thin mac keyboard

In the Boot Camp Installation Guide (on pg. 17) there is a table showing PC key commands and the corresponding Apple keyboard commands for both external and built in keyboards.
The table shows F15 to be the single stroke for scroll lock.
Yet, I can't seem to get it to work.
We want to use the scroll lock function to work with x-Fire while playing Halo to chat with other players (something that is easily done on a pc).
I tried some of the other Apple commands -- and get no response from any of them.
Suggestions?

I realized it is simply a matter of Windows not recognizing the Mac keyboard.
Anyway the warning window went away and isn't an issue any longer.
The keyboard works just fine.

Apple Final Cut Pro Retrofit Ultra Thin Alu Keyboard

Hello there, I've just got a Apple Final Cut Pro Retrofit Ultra Thin Alu Keyboard to help me learn the shortcuts to FCP, but it has no instructions on the colours as to make it easier for me to quickly identify the short cuts, ie is it option-click, comd-click, cnt-click on the selective keys. If you know what I mean. Do the colours Identify what comd key I use?

Scroll lock function on Excel 2010 on Macbook pro

I am running Excel 2010 on my Macbook pro and cannot seem to switch off the scroll lock. It will work when I hit the F14 key on my wireless keyboard, but that is in my office and not to hand all the time. When i restart excel the scroll lock is on again.
As you know on a Macbook Pro the keys only go to F12 but the suggested Shift+FN+F12 doesn't work

I suggest you ask your question on the Microsoft Mac forums as it's their software you're having problems with. These forums are for troubleshooting Apple products, and not related to your question in any way.

HT1216 Apple Keyboard (Ultra-thin USB) keyboard

Hi. I have bought great ultra-thin USB Apple keyboard to be use it with a PC in which Windows XP is installed. I need to utilize ctrl+alt+del to enter the starting screen and use the task manager window. But I could not use this function because there is no Del on Apple Keyboard. How can I do with Apple keyboard?Thanks

PC Insert key equivalent on the ultra thin apple keyboard (german layout)

i was working on a windows server 2008 via a remote desktop connection using CoRD.
somehow i managed to activate the overwrite mode (where you don't normally type but overwrite everything right hand side of the cursor).
and i struggled to deactivate because i couldn't find the key.
(as a workaround i was able to deactivate using Fn+m on the builtin keybaord of my MBP). but how can i do that with my external keyboard?
i surely have activated it with this external keyboard, so there must be a way to disable it.
some googling turned out it's the "help" key. but since this ultra thin keyboard doesn't have any help key but a Fn key at that position. (the Fn+m combo has no effect when pressed on the external keyboard).

Scroll Lock key not found on my keyboard

I have this HP keyboard with my pc. Unfortanetly, a program i am running requires i need a scroll lock key, and there is none that i can find on the pc. Can you tell me where it is located on the keyboard for my desktop pc? Thanks in advanced!

The three keys on the right have speakers on them. The left one has a speaker with a crossed out sign, the middle one shows a speaker with the - next to it, the right one shows a speaker with a + next to it. So is the the speaker with the minus sign on the scroll lock key?
Actually there are 4 keys on the right..three with speakers and the sleep button (it shows a moon underlined). I think the moon underlined key is for sleep mode on the pc.
Here is the layout of the right of my pc's keyboard, from the left key above the home key:

Print Screen function in Windows using Mac keyboard

The following article gives the Windows equivalent keys on the Mac keyboard. On the PC keyboard, "Alt-Print Screen" would be "option-F14". But it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

Disregard question... "alt-F14" works. It was just poor execution.

Ultra thin usb keyboard brightness lock

My keyboard got cleaned by my son while connected and now when I press the dedicated brightness up or down key the symbol appears on screen with a lock underneath. So the adjustments can not be made on either key.
I can make adjustments via the system preferences/displays just fine but the lock symbol persists.
I tried going to ../keyboard and restoring defaults and that doesn't work for me either.
Can someone please help me turn the lock off?

This whole affair happened with the log on screen up, which is why I found it so puzzling. I had tried unplugging the keyboard and restarting but that didn't fix it. Finally in .../display/options the box "disable brightness button" was selected, deselecting this resolved the issue for me.

I brought a MacBook air to use outdoors for my small business so I could send paperwork to my HP wireless printer, anyway here in Australia if the police hold something for three months or more its sold at auction provided its not needed for a case or such, anyway I brought an air 2011 model thinking it was a 2012 model that's where my problems began.
As soon as I got home I charged it up and turned it on only to have find my mac lock it for me apparently it was proceeds of crime an was forfeit by the owner who as soon as I plugged in the net he locked it, so I go to the police an tell them, they say inspection time is 2 hours before the auction an if you got it wrong in that time your a %#^*wit, so now I have a 2011 air waiting on a four digit number, the guy hasn't come round as he knows he's not allowed to have it, the police don't care, they do the taking where money is concerned an tough.
The dog ate the charger so as I just brought the current MacBook I thought I'd use its charger, lol no such luck they changed the size of the plug, thanks to a mate I've got 50% power to pull a miracle.
I'm not psychic so I can't guess it, the police said no chance in **** of us paying you your 400$ back and some ex owner that is getting a perverse buzz annoying me. I'm lost guys any answers or an I screwed totally I find it hard to believe apple have locked themselves out along with everyone else.
Please anyone help and beware police auctions, you'd think most honest around, not so.

Take your MBA to an Apple store and they should be able to unlock it. You will have to provide proof of ownership. It seems you will need the appropriate charger for your MBA. I suggest not feeding the replacement charger to your pooch.

How to open CD tray with a non-Mac keyboard

Hello.
Some years ago I bought a Logitech keyboard and set it so that a certain key would serve as Eject. For a good long time it worked but in the past few months Eject has been either refusing to open consistently or opening from another key. It finally stopped working altogether and hasn't responded to Pref Pane reassignment. OK so I may need a new (Mac!) keyboard but since I'm cash-strapped that may be a couple of months away and the paper clip solution is only designed for rare occasions. Is there something I can do to get the CD tray to open without a button?

Also, try this procedure as it's more permanent:
Enabling an Eject menu As a side note, you can enable another means of ejecting disks by opening the folder System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and double-clicking the file "Eject.menu". An eject icon will appear in the menubar that can be used to close and open selected optical drives.

There is a key combination that operates the scroll lock function on your keyboard, try it and see if it works:
The reason that the manual switch is mapped to the scroll lock is because it is a rarely used (sometimes never used) function, unfortunately that is exactly why it is vanishing, gone on some keyboards already.Consult the documentation for the switch, see if the function controlled currently by the scroll lock key can be remapped to another key.

2011 Lion ultra thin keyboard PC shortcuts

I just got the most recent 2011-2012 Lion version of the Apple Ultra Thin wired keyboard for Christmas but it seems some of the keyboard shortcuts that used to work with Windows don't work anymore. I can't seem to find a page that shows the correspondances like there exists for the older Apple keyboards.
Can anyone point me to a new reference? Thanks!

OK, after a couple of weeks I can confirm the following:
1. The two ultra-thin keyboards I own both have the same model number: A1243, EMC #2171. However, the unique identifier (serial?) on the underside is different.
2. The older one was purchased less than two years ago and the new one is 2 weeks old.
3. I plug the old one in and all the PC shortcuts work.
4. I plug the new one in and none of the PC shortcuts work.
Can anyone in this universe explain why this is so? Thanks!

After their recent upgrade Facebook no longer works for Firefox version 2.0.0.20, what is the most recent version of Firefox that will function with a Mac G3 running OS 10.3.9?

Facebook (FB) recently restructured their website. After logging on to my FB homepage, some of the graphics are garbled and I am no longer able to post status updates, comment on friend's status updates or pictures, or post pictures using Firefox version 2.0.0.20. I would like to know if there is a newer version of Firefox that will function with a Mac G3 Blue and White desktop running OS 10.3.9 which will be compatible with the new FB? I would upgrade my computer, but have 22+ years of business and tax records that will not function with the newer Mac OS.
