Scroll speed in Cover Flow???

I love the cover flow view in finder and iTunes but I have a the new magic mouse and the scroll speed is just too fast...
I have a hard time landing on the object I want, I just go back and forth back and forth over it...
Is there a way to adjust scroll speed in that specific view?

Tip: Speed up Cover Flow

I recently discovered a usefully feature for speeding up Cover Flow. If it's been posted before apologies in advance.
If you go to View >> Show Options in Finder and switch off 'Show Size' and set 'Use as Defaults' I found that it greatly increases the speed. However, this is only useful of course if knowing the file size isn't critical.

another option is to move the database out of My Pictures....

Blurry Scroll Bar in Cover Flow. Help?

Well... i've had my new macbook for about 3 weeks. have about 100 songs in there so far. on itunes. today my friend sent me mp3 files and the moment i got them i put them in itunes. the problem is i discovered that after putting the songs on itunes, the scroll bar on the cover flow became blurry.
i quit itunes and started it again and the scroll bar was normal again. but then i went into the itunes store and came back to my music, in cover flow and the scroll bar was blurry again.
what does this mean? VIRUS?
obviously something is not steady here. any words? thanks.

This definitely isn't a show-stopper, but it is annoying (Don't fret -- its not a virus. Nor does it have anything to do with your Music collection.). I have the same glitch with Cover Flow. I've found its relatively easy to (temporarily) fix: all you need to do is resize the iTunes window (by just 1 pixel will do).
Hopefully this is more permanently fixed in a future version of iTunes.
For those who are wondering what I'm talking about, when I open iTunes in Cover Flow mode the horizontal scroll bar (slider) is nice and crisp. However, if I switch to another application, or simply click into another section of iTunes (like Movies, or the iTunes Store) and then click back to my Library of Music, the Cover Flow horizontal scroll bar often appears fuzzy, or blurry. Resizing the iTunes window temporarily fixes the glitch (at least, until I switch sections again).

I know this has been posted last month, but no one answered it. Is there any fix to the blurry scroll bars in iTunes? It's a little embarrassing to have my cool Apple look gross in iTunes...

Repeatable Crash - Cover Flow

The iPod app consistently crashes when I scroll around in cover flow. The crash is repeatable, speed is not a factor. It will crash if I go slow or fast. After reboot, it will still crash but I can scroll a bit longer before it crashes again.
I have NEVER been able to get from A to Z without a crash.
Am I alone in this?

I can't say that you're alone, but I certainly don't have that issue. 996 songs (also 2.0, 5A347), can scroll end to end and back with no trouble, slow or fast.
Does it crash in a specific place? Could be a problem with some of your cover art...

Cover Flow scroll speed

Is it possible to increase/reduce the speed in which the Cover Flow mode scrolls through items (when using a scroll wheel on a mouse)?
I have a lot of movies, and I like using Cover Flow to preview all of their covers. However, I would prefer it if when scrolling with the wheel on my mouse it wouldn't skip to every 4th/5th movie on the list, and would instead scroll through them one-by-one.
Any ideas?

Cover Flow Scroll Bar is Blurry

Hey,
In cover flow, I notice that the scroll bar is blurry. I've found a temporary fix for it by resizing the cover flow window which resets the horizontal scroll bar to a clear, crisp image. However, as soon as you go back to whatever source (Libary, or any of my playlists) you were originally in, the scroll bar appears blurry again.
Does anyone else have this problem, and know a way to fix it?

Why does my cover flow scroll bar look like THIS?

here you can see how very often the scrollbar looks like. is there any known reason for that? when I change the size of the cover flow part of the window it changes back to normal. but very often, even in full screen view, the scroll bar looks this blurred...
any suggestions?

Cover Flow does not show song title or scroll bar

Cover Flow only shows a distorted "box" instead of the song info and the scroll bar. Why is this?

Cover Flow up and visible, but no movement when trying to scroll

Ok, So I looked through the forum, ran a search topic and found several references to Cover Flow, but nothing that quite matched my situation.
I just downloaded and installed Safari 4. Started it up, choose to activate the cover flow option.
It comes up on the screen (no fully viewable pages, but they seem to be added as I visit them). However I cannot get the pages to flow through to be viewed.
I can click on one side arrow or the other and the highlight bar on the list moves, but not the visual pages. Same result with the sideways scroll. I looked through help and I can (and do) use cover flow all the time on my iTunes, so it should be working in Safari 4, yes? But it's not.
Any ideas how to correct this?

Hi,
Did it when I got home from work. No joy. Decided to download the program (I originally got it by way of the software update), deleted whatever references I could find to Safari including old installers/programs. Went to all the places you suggested originally to try removing and trashed them basically tried to clean the computer of all reference to Safari.
Re installed, and believe it or not all my bookmarks came back though I had reset the safari completely so my keychain is wiped. Sigh.... We I'll just have to re-enter them all (hope I can remember them... grin). The silver lining though is I've gotten rid of the flotsam in the key chain.
The cloud to that silver lining is still no joy with the cover flow. I also just thought about this, but in the top sites on my main account, nothing automatically highlights when I run my cursor over it. It never has. But in the second user I created I have Cover Flow without problem, and on Top Site it came up with a generic list supplied by Apple that not only highlights when the cursor runs over the pane, but at the bottom the URL of the site comes up as well. Not so on the main user.
I know it will be a pain, I'm not even sure HOW I would go about migrating all of my original user stuff into the secondary, but I'm getting tempted to do that.
Or maybe I'll just delete it and put the old version in if I could figure out how to find an older version. I know others have asked to do that since they just don't care for even the working version, but I must confess I'm a bit ticked if I have to do that since I really like the idea of the Cover Flow and Top Sites.
Where would I find a fix if it ever came out later?

Cover Flow album art and scroll buttons scrambled (7.5)

Hello, Everything has been fine with my i tunes but i opened it the other day and the cover flow view is playing up. All the album covers/podcast displays etc are just scrambled (a series of horizontal coloured lines like a faulty TV.)
the scroll bar and the show full screen buttons are also shown scrambled. if you play a song the album art shows in the left corner fine but the flow art is still scrambled. any ideas anyone? i have tried lots of restarts but it is no better. the only thing i have done is windows update which did some .net updates. regards john

7.3 is broken.
I replaced it with 7.2 and all is well until they fix the problem. This list is full of this problem!

Cover flow slow to scroll in Vista with Nvidia GeForce 8400M

I recently purchased a new laptop with vista service pack 1. One issue is the cover flow motion is really slow to scroll compared to my last computer using xp. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a fix?

I have had the same problem with my new Dell XPS notebook since I bought it in mid Feb. I have googled the problem and a lot of users are also having this problem. Cover flow mode is painfully slow and unuseable. If you find a fix, please post.

Mouse scroll on cover flow skips albums

Hello all,
as the title states, when I did a mouse scroll, it used to flow through every album. At one point it started skipping some album. I have this problem quite a while now but it starts to get annoying. I have Windows x64 with the latest version of iTunes x64 and Logitech mouse with latest drivers (even thought the mouse doesn't seem to be the problem because mouse-pad scrolling is acting the same). I have tried changing how many lines the mouse roll scrolls each time but when I put one line at a time it skips one album (for 3 lines I think it scrolls 4 by 4). I have hundreds of albums so I'm not sure if there is some kind of algorithm that when you have many albums it goes 2 by 2 so you can scroll them or something... Any help will be appreciated.

If not a bug, it's certainly a design oversight rather than intentional behaviour. As far as I can tell it's present on all iPods, it's just more obvious on the classic, and to some extent it's also present in iTunes. If you select the browser view so that you get a listing albums on the top right you might expect that each line would represent a single album, but if you have more than one album with the same title you still only get one line. Workarounds are as Jeff suggested, e.g. *Album - Artist*, appending different numbers of spaces to the album title for each different album or giving each album different Sort Album values. Personally I prefer the first method as it clearly distinguishes albums in the iTunes browser.

Can Cover Flow view be limited to playback of only one album at a time?

Hi all,
I've been using the Cover Flow view in my iTunes Library more and more lately (after years of suffering owning a slow machine). But there has been a question regarding playback that has been slightly nagging me for a little while. I couldn't come up with effective search results, so I'll pose the question to the masses.
Cover Flow playback (by default) seems limited to playing through one album and jumping straight into the next album in the Library without stopping. Scroll through the track listing in the lower screen and you'll notice that iTunes lists every track from every album in your Library.
(picture one of those digital bar jukeboxes and an unlimited bankroll...)
Conversely, when clicking the album's title in the default List view, iTunes will only play the tracks in that particular album's playlist, and stop playback once this is finished. I have grown used to this option when desiring to fall asleep to one particular album only... and not the 476 albums which follow it.
Is there a workaround in place to emulate this "List View" playback behavior for Cover Flow playback?
Just curious... if not, it isn't the end of the world - List View will still continue to serve its specific purpose for my needs.
I just have a thirst for knowledge.

I'm not sure I follow you here — if I click a track in list view, iTunes always goes on to the next track when it's over (assuming Shuffle is off). If that's the next track on an album, great, but when I come to the end of an album it moves on to the next one.
Or are you talking about the Browser? Selecting an album in the Album browser pane will indeed produce the results you're describing, since the rest of your library will be excluded.
Yes that's correct - my apologies, I was at work at the time and was working from memory. I've had the Browser enabled since day one that it almost becomes second nature.
My iTunes interface, while displaying in List mode with the Browser active, limits the upper display fields to only Artist and Album panes.
And exactly as you said, once the album finishes playing, iTunes ceases playback.

Yes, but it's a bit clunky: use the Search box to narrow down your library until only one album is displayed.
Yes you are correct - it is a bit clunky. But it does work for the most part, provided that the album title is unique from a song title on another album.

Cover flow Size

I am using cover flow in the finder and I expanded it by using the three lines below the cover flow scroll bar but every time I open a window the size of cover flow gets smaller. Is there a way I can set cover flow to a default size in the finder so it stays that size?

it just keeps getting smaller until it reaches its minimum height which you can set by dragging the three lines upwards until it stops.
i would love it if cover flow stayed at the height which i set it too in each Finder folder which is about 10 lines in the list view below so you can a fair preview of the document.
