Scroll Speed

Is there any way to set the scroll speed on a rolling title without dragging? I can't seem to find a mention of it in the manual.
I very often have several scrolling titles of different lengths in my projects and I want them to scroll at the same speed. Now I'm using the eyeball method but it would be very helpful to set the speed arbitrarily.

Curt,
Yes, so I have a trick I use. I create a box that takes up half of the frame. I put the same box on both titles. I time the number of frames that the box takes to come fully on to the screen (if the text starts off screen) or to move from top to bottom.
Then I drag out the second title to match the same timing. It is a hassle, but it works.

  • PDF/X makes the scrolling speed of ClearScan PDFs much faster

    Hello all,
    I am using 9 and X (trial) to find the best solution for reading scanned documents on Mac and iPad. I recently found that ClearScan OCR makes scanned black and white PDFs very light. Consequently, scrolling of PDFs on Mac and iPad becomes faster than regular bitmap PDFs.
    However, there is a problem in ClearScan that bitmap image area become heavier than the original scanned files. I usually scan paper documents with a resolution of 600 dpi and downsample them to 600 dpi when OCRing. So theoretically, scrolling and pinch zoom in/out speed in Preview.app should be the same between the original documents and OCRed ones. You will be able to reproduce this problem if you OCR the following PDF. Try ClearScan + 600 dpi downsample + US English.
    http://articles.adsabs.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/nph-iarticle_query?db_key=AST&bibcode=1990ARA%2 6A..28..215D&letter=0&classic=YES&defaultprint=YES&whole_paper=YES&page=215&epage=215&send =Send+PDF&filetype=.pdf
    But if I export OCRed document as PDF/X after saving it as a regular PDF, the bitmap area become very light and scrolling speed in Preview.app becomes very fast, while I get a preflight error when exporting to PDF/X. The file size of the exported document becomes about two times larger than the regular ClearScan PDF.
    My question is; What is the main difference between regular PDFs and PDF/X? How can I get the same effect of the scrolling speed difference without exporting regular PDFs to PDF/X which is heavier? Any technique?

    Hello lrosenth,
    Thank you for your comment. As you mentioned, I do not need to use PDF/X in fact because I do not send them to DTP companies.
    Is there any tips to change the scrolling speed faster without using PDF/X? I do not know why the image part of regular PDFs after ClearScan is heavier than the originals.

  • Control the scrolling speed while browsing a PDF file from a URL in Safari

    When I open a URL pointing to a PDF file from Safari, the PDF file is opened by the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin.  Too many times the multi-page PDFs scroll too fast up and down uncontrollably from the touch Pad.
    Is there a way to control the scrolling speed and make my reading experience better?

    You need to remove both, while Safari is closed.
    You can use the Trash - Put Back command to replace them right away (again, close Safari first) or drag them from the trash to some spare folder, in case you want them later.

  • Mouse Scroll speed problems with JVM

    I could not find Java (Apple’s JVM ) forums, so I might be posting this in the wrong forum. With that disclaimer, here is my issue:
    I am running into a problem where the mouse-wheel scrolling speed configurations are not being properly passed to Java applications. I have set my scrolling speed to the maximum, all works well with regula apps, yet when I use my mouse-wheel to scroll and window in a Java application, scrolling it is unbearably slow, the wheel becomes useless.
    Also, horizontal scrolling does not work in any java application either.
    I believe these are a problem with Apple's JVM implementation. Are there any workarounds?
    Has anyone else experience this?
    JVM v1.5

    Does this happen with all Java apps or just a handful? I ask because I found that OpenOffice scrolls so slowly that it's unusable. However, I think this is an issue with OO, not with Java. Other Java apps scroll fine for me.

  • Scroll speed in Cover Flow???

    I love the cover flow view in finder and iTunes but I have a the new magic mouse and the scroll speed is just too fast...
    I have a hard time landing on the object I want, I just go back and forth back and forth over it...
    Is there a way to adjust scroll speed in that specific view?
    Thanks!

    HI,
    Open System Preferences/Mouse and check your Tracking setting.
    In that specific view? No.. unfortunately not.

  • Increase Mousewheel Scroll Speed of my jScrollPane?

    Hi,
    Im having some trouble increasing the mousewheel speed in my application... im using Ubuntu as operating system. Currently im doing the following:
    jScrollPane.getVerticalScrollBar().setUnitIncrement(90000);I tried with 16, 30, 100, 300, and 90000 and the speed is not increasing. I also read on Ubuntu forums that mousewheel scroll speed seems to be a problem but in all other applications on my computer the speed is ok...
    anyone knows how to solve this?
    thanks

    You need to override getScrollableUnitIncrement to return a larger value. SSCCE: the table on the right will scroll 5 times more than the table on the right.import java.awt.Rectangle;

                return super.getScrollableUnitIncrement(visibleRect, orientation,
                      direction) * 5;
          JScrollPane scrollRight = new JScrollPane(tableRight);
          JSplitPane splitPane = new JSplitPane(JSplitPane.HORIZONTAL_SPLIT,
                scrollLeft, scrollRight);
          JFrame frame = new JFrame();
          frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
          frame.setSize(700, 500);
          frame.add(splitPane);

  • Acrobat Pro CS6 onn OSX scroll speed

    Hi all,
    This is a strange one... I installed CS6 on my Macbook Pro, updating from CS5.5.
    All is ok except for one weird issue.
    Scrolling up and down PDF files in Acrobat Pro is super slow. Like mollases. It's very annoying.
    I have always assumed scroll speed to be a system level setting, and all my other programs, including the other CS6 installs, are scrolling at my system-set speed.
    I looked in Acrobat Pro to see if there is an application-specific setting to no avail.
    Does anyone one know what might be happening and what I can do to fix it? Perhaps I'm missing something simple (I hope...)
    Thanks!
    Scott

    OS 10.5, Apple wireless mouse. No issues in any other prgrams. But I did discover changing the view setting for the PDF remedies the issue. Why would I have to do that to scroll at my set speed? Strange...

  • Safari scroll speed

    Safari - Version 7.0.1 (9537.73.11)
    Is there a way to set a finite value to the relationship of (scroll speed) vs. (document length)?
    If the page is medium size I enjoy the two finger scroll, but as the webpage/docuent becomes longer the scroll speed increases and becomes difficult to control.
    Thanks,
    Joe
    PS  I also think the scroll bar should include the arrows.  I like the new clean look, but wonder if the resources and extra code is worth my user experience satisfaction to program in a set of 'hover-to-appear' scroll arrows.  I like the no scroll bar.  I like the no scroll bar then shows up when two finger scrolling.  I like the hover and lock feature when the scroll bar is visible.  I think this is when the arrows should be visible.  Or even one step further; the arrows should become visible when the mouse hovers near the top or bottom of the screen.  Again, this is useful for longer documents.  The grab and drag method is difficult to control when the scroll bar is tiny and the smallest movement conducts multiple pages of scrolling.

    You can also do a single tap, which takes half the time.

  • Scroll speed in finder windows too fast.

    I have a folder with 249 folders in it.
    I need to select folders more than a month old and get rid of them.
    To do this I change to list view, sort by date newest items at top oldest at bottom, drag through (bottom to top) and select the items I want to trash while holding the mouse button.
    The scroll speed is so fast that I am at the top of the list before I can stop.
    Where is the preference for FINDER WINDOW scrolling speed?
    FINDER version 10.4.2

    Threre is no speed control.. but try this instead:
    do what you've been doing... finder.. list view... sort by date, but select the FIRST item you want to delete by clicking on it ONCE.
    then scroll down 'til you can see the last item you want to delete, press the Shift Key, then select the LAST Item on your list.
    You should have automatically selected everything between your FIRST and LAST item.. which you can delete, or move en mass.

  • Lion mouse scroll speed scrolling too fast

    System Pref > Mouse > Scrolling Speed is set to the slowest level and it is still way too fast!  Heard others complaining about this on a Parallels discussion group and thought I would post here.  Incease the range of scrolling sensitivity in an update please!  Reply to this post if you are having the same issue.
    Scrolling was always way to fast in leopard when using Iphoto, but this with Lion it is too fast everywhere else except for huge files.

    I suppose you are using a non-Apple mouse. You will need to update the software, and adjust the tracking multiplier within the software.
    Logitech just came out with an update for Lion.

  • Mouse scrolling speed is too fast

    It appears that iPhoto doesn't honor the mouse scrolling speed in system prefs. Scrolling with the mouse is useless for me because the slightest up or down movement scrolls several pictures at a time. I have a Logitech MX Revolution... I don't know if the mighty mouse behaves any differently. Is anyone else annoyed by this?

    Nevermind... I discovered the Logitech prefs allow me to fine tune the scroll wheel.

  • Magic Mouse changes scroll speed on it's own?

    I manually set my scroll speed in system prefs to medium but the last couple of days it has been resetting itself to the slowest setting. Using latest operating system and new imac 27".

    Something to try:
    1. In the Finder, go to (your user account) > Library > Preferences
    2. Move the file com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist to the Trash
    3. Move the file com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist to the Trash
    4. +*DO NOT* empty the Trash+
    5. Restart your computer
    6. Set the scroll speed
    7. Restart your computer and use it for awhile
    8. If you now have problems using the mouse, put the files you trashed back where they came from. Otherwise, you will have either fixed the problem or eliminated the two preference files above as the source of your problem.

  • Plugging in USB Mouse Changes Trackpad Scroll Speed

    I bought a Razer ProV 1.6 external USB Mouse to use with my MBP. It is a great mouse, I love it! After customizing my settings with the bundled software (which is change through Sys. Pref. in the "Other" section), I started using the mouse and the trackpad without any problems; everything was working the way I wanted it to. Later, after having taken my MBP with me to school, I plugged the mouse back in. But when I did that, it decreased the scroll speed on the trackpad to level 2 (it had been level 8). I am not sure what is causing this. I have checked and there are no updates available for the software that came with the mouse. Any ideas where the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks!

    Razer has finally released a new driver for the Pro Click 1.6 which has fixed the bug issues between the mouse and the trackpad. You can find it here:

  • [4.0final] Scroll speed in table grid configurable?

    Hello out there,
    is there a way to configure the scroll speed (using mouse wheel) in the table data grid?
    It seems that the data grid scrolls pixel wise whereas the result grid of the worksheet scrolls row wise. So can I configure the table data grid (i.e. the grid that is opened when I click on a table in the tree and then on the data tab) to respond to the mouse wheel the same way the result grid of the worksheet does?
    Or is that simply a bug?
    I'm using 4.0.0.13.80 on Windows 7 64bit with the suplied JDK.
    Oracle version is 11.2.0.2.
