Scroll stuttering and loss of touch screen control

Since downloading IOS 8.1.3, my iPhone6 has begun doing some really crazy stuff when I am scrolling up or down with my finger.  Its not 100% all of the time but when it happens, initially, the scrolling will begin to stutter away from my finger, followed by a complete loss of control over the touch screen.  At that point, random buttons all over the screen will be getting clicked as if I was touching them, but I'm not.
This has been consistent across all apps and has only begun for me following iOS 8.1.3.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a solution?  Thanks.

Same exact problem as you have on my iPhone 6, and same cause - 8.1.3. I am not even going to install 8.2 for fear of more, new bugs. Nothing on the list of bug fixes for 8.2 says anything about this shaky screen and things being clicked on their own problem.
Any luck with this issue being fixed with 8.2? Anyone still experiencing this with 8.2?

  • Is there a way to play a video and disable the touch screen

I want to be able to play a video and disable the touch screen so that it will play uninterrupted (even if the screen is accidentally touched). Isn't there a "hold" button?

Press the Home button once real quick to put the iPod on Hold.

  • Problem with touch screen control

I got my incredible yesterday and activated it.
    I have problems:
-When I use the zoom (pinch/spread) on larger screens,  I loose the ability to scroll up/down/right/left (swipe, slide).
-I lose the use of the four main buttons.
-I get strange menus popping up.
    -The phone completely freezes up.
For example on the Maps app:
I "pinch/spread" to zoom in on the map.  Then, I want to move the screen up/down/left/right.  Most of the time, I am unable to do so.  It just keeps on zooming in and out.  I am only using one finger and moving in a straight line (up, down, left, right), but it keeps zooming in and out.
Also, When this zoom problem happens, the four buttons (home, menu, back, search) do not work at all.   They are completely useless.
Another thing it does when it is stuck "zooming", a pop-up box appears.  This pop-up box has three icons in it:
    -two papers
    -a magnifying glass
-and a green circle with two arrows pointing off from the circle
The touch screen is frozen, so I have no idea what those icons are supposed to do (I could probably guess).
When this box comes up, if I try using the joystick,  it will start making green lines and boxes all over the screen.   The touch screen and four buttons are still totally useless.
Other times, a menu appears for no apparent reason.  I can't select anything in the menu, or back out of it.  Again, the touch screen and four buttons are totally useless.
I must turn it off, then back on.  Then, I can back out of the menu.
It is NOT just the Maps app.  It happens regularly while using the browser to read web pages.  I've also had the phone freeze up doing other various things (like the flash light).
I've removed the battery and restarted (soft reset).  I've also done the factory reset (hard reset).  The problems continue exactly as before.
The problems are not 100% of the time.  I have been able to use it some, and can see how it is supposed to work (and it is great).  But, the zooming problem makes internet use, and the Maps app nearly impossible (I am sure I would have a long list of other programs, but I only started using it yesterday).   I can use these things fine for a minute or two before the problems start (usually starting with the zoom problem).
Sorry if this is long (I am copy/pasting it to send to Verizon support).
    Any ideas?

Make sure you return the phone if the touch screen is unresponsive.  Continue to return any replacement until you get one that the screen is complliant with your touch, skin chemistry and local climate.
This issue cost me the cost of a replacement phone, and repacemet of broken touch screen glass and LCD when I continually tried to use more pressure to get the screen to respond.
Mine was less responsive when the phone was receiving a call and was ringing, which tells me it may be a design flaw that will not carry enough current to the touch screen when the ringing is occuring.
The replacement is a new one that I had to purchase as they would not warranty the other one.  It is also unresponsive to the touch when in standy and the phone is ringing.  I have learned to be persistently working with it the entire duration of the ring cycle, and am 75% effective in answering calls before they time out.
The original one was repaired(?) at my expense, and came back totally unable to wake from standby.  I have to take out the battery and power it back up to get it to work again.  Presently, I have the display timeout set to 1 hour.  If the phone rings after the screen goes to standby, I have to let it ring and go to voicemail, then remove the battery and power it back on.
The original one was 6 weeks old, but the entire warranty was void once the touch screen glass cracked.  It was easy to verify that the phone had not been dropped.  The screen glass cracked under thumb pressure.
Of course, neither Verizon or HTC had ever heard of this occuring before.  I spent the better part of today trying to find the right combination of applications and timing to wake it from standby.  I finally reformatted the SD card, reformatted the Phone Storage, do a factory data reset and finally a new firmware load.  Nothing will restore the screen.
If I had to guess, I would say there is a trace on the board that was not sufficient to carry the current of a full volume ringtone at 0dB.   It could also be parameters on the touch screen that are too tight to compensate for differences in skin resistance/capacitance.  Also is the possibillity of bad ground integrity between  the phones individual circuits.
It is all academic, as I have spent another 200.00 on the original to replace the touch screen and LCD Display, only to find out that the phone is now unable to respond to the touch screen when it is in standby.
I will continue to use the new one until it finally stops responding completely.  This time, I bought insurance.  I can keep on taking them back until they acknowledge the problem.
Try to learn from my mistakes.  Make them continue to replace the phone until you get one that works.

  • I have an ipod touch 3rd generation and the whole touch screen is not working.

I have a 32gb ipod which I bought for fifty dollars and when i bought it had a pretty baddly cracked screen but thing is it worked fine. Every part of the screen worked fine; it was as senstive where the screen was cracked as the areas of the screen that were not cracked. I dropped it a couple times from like two or three feet on two a hard wood floor about four times all it did was make the cracks on the screen a little worse. Then one day I dropped it from about a foot and now the whole touch screen is not working does anyone know why this is. They told me at the ipod store to get a new one would be 130 to trade mine in. But the thing is I very mechanically inclined and I am very good with electrionics; I was planing on buying the glass for fifty bucks and putting it on myself because I read how to do it and I am more then capapble of doing it. But now since the touch screen is now working; do I need a new screen along with a new glass? See the thing is because I think both those part cost 120 together. Which would not be worth me doing that when I can go to the ipod store and they would trade me a new one for 130 bucks. But the issue is, they told me at the ipod store they would have to look and see how damaged the ipod is to see if they will exchange it. My screen is severly cracked; also I have a dent that is a half inch long and 1/8th inch deep in the back of my ipod and its very scracthed up; do you thing an ipod store would exchange it in the condition it is in. Also has anybody had this problem before and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to take it apart and fix it my self without buying any new parts.

If I were you, I would pay the $130 for a replacement. Then you can be sure that it has all the working parts it needs.

  • I restored my ipod touch, and now the touch screen refuses to work

my ipod touch recently said it needed activation, although I've been using it for 18 months now. When I connected to Itunes, it said it could not read the contents of the Ipod, although it did read the model number and other details. It said to restore it to the factory settings, which I did. after restore, the touch screen refused to work. after 24, it began working, but then said it needed activation again. Hook up to Itunes, same song and dance. It is frozen again. Has anyone else had t

You should take it to the nearest apple store to let them restore it and activate it. iTunes wouldn't dare restore my ipod touch everytime i tried to restore always an error. So the next day i took it to apple and they fixed it.

  • I need help with my ipod touch 4, i hit it on my table and now the touch screen doesn't work at all

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Maybe just a loose connection they can fix.

I don't have iPhoto on my iPad, so I can't help with that, but you must have looked at advice for a Mac computer? Maybe browse the iPhoto for iOS forum?

  • Why does the 2520 Nokia Lumia have so many issues? I've had pairing issues, freezing issues, and now the touch screen doesn't work! I'm SO glad i spent $700 on a piece of CRAP! And Verizon will do nothing to help or make me happy. When my 2 years are up G

    GregLallo,
I would be upset if my phone was having multiple issues but would not want to lose you over this experience. Nokia Lumia are typically good phones and it saddens me to see you are having so many issues with the phone.  How often are you having the issues with the device not responding? What activities are occurring on the phone when it stops responding? Have you always had pairing issues? What are you pairing your phone to?

  • Not able to scroll up or down or touch the screen and go to another website. Does anybody have an answer to this problem? I did have this function previously.

Not able to scroll up and down or touch the screen to go to another website.  I can see everything on the page but the screen darkens a bit but everything is visible.  Just no touch screen function.  Can anyone provide me with a solution to this problem?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • Built in microphone and touch screen doesn't work

    Hi
I have problems with two things, my built in microphone doesn't record anything, also I tried all suggested steps of HP support.
    Windows recognizes the microphone.
The touch screen doesn't work the touch part, but the display is working good.
Also i tried to update Drivers, but looks like Windows does not recognized the touch screen, when I going to Control Panel and search for touch screen stuff, I do not see anything.
I hope you can help me to fix this.
    Thank you.

    Hi @ldiego008 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 Notebook and the microphone and the Touchscreen not working correctly. If you follow this document it will show you how to correct this issue on the Touchscreen.
Try following  this document document on Resolving Microphone and Line-in issues for Windows 8.1.
Here is something else that might help if you need it. If you go to the Device Manager (Audio inputs and outputs)and uninstall it from there restart the computer it should automatically reinstall it for you. This link shows you the Device Manager Screen shots that might help.
Hope this helps with both issues.
    Thanks.

  • Scrolling lag? Delay between touch and display.

I've had 4 replacement iPhone 5's so far and the latest one seems to have a slight lag between the touch and the response I get from the display. Furthermore, if I go to any webpage and scroll up and down sometimes it'll stop scrolling completely and ignore my touch.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnioM-nkhqc
This video does an okay job of demonstrating the issue but I haven't noticed it on my previous replacement iPhones, only this one. I know they opened up my current one's hardware to tighten a screw on the lock button but am unsure as to whether or not the display was affected. I don't know if this is a software issue or a hardware issue but some reports are saying 6.1 fixes it. However, I'm on 6.1.4 and restored twice already and the issue still persists.

One way to replicate this is to go into safari and onto a page like Yahoo.com and continuously scroll up and down. After a few seconds sometimes it will stop scrolling altogether. I don't have another iPhone with me to test this problem and finding videos of people scrolling is harder than I thought. I just don't want to go into the Apple store again and have them tell me it's not a big deal and send me home. Also, the acceleration on scrolling never seems to get very high and stays at a flat rate unless you contiuously swipe the screen. I thought it was supposed to accelerate depending on how fast you flick with your finger as it has done in all my other iproducts but this is not the case and everything seems to lag.

I sweated working outside and now my touch screen is not working right?

To restore app data, the apps have to be in the iTunes library of the computer on which you do the restore. The iPod ackup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.
