Scrollable Frame issue on iPad 'Adobe Viewer'

I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue when previewing a folio with the iPad viewer.
The issue is when I have a full (or even part) page scrollable frame on a page and once I have vertically swiped/scrolled to the end of the scrollable frame, then the next vertical swipe seems to stick much more than usual and requires a much longer/sustained swipe to get it to move on to the next page.
This issue is only occuring when previewing a folio on the iPad viewer. It behaves as expected (short normal swipes) when previewed on the Desktop 'Content Viewer'. It also behaves as expected when simply previewing from the Folio Overlays panel – both on the Desktop viewer and iPad viewer. It also behaves if I import the article as PNG format into a folio, however I am requiring vector quality/display for this project so can't ignore the issue.
It also does not fix the issue to select 'raster' rather than 'vector' in export options within the 'scrollable frame' folio overlay panel.
My first thought was that maybe this is just a quirk of the iPad viewer, but the fact that the behaviour works in most other scenarios has me guessing. Maybe i am missing something somewhere which may explain this. I see the use of Scrollable Frames in this manner within many apps (in vector/PDF) without experiencing this issue, hence why I am leaning towards it being a quirk of the viewer when as a folio with a PDF scrollable frame.
I am using the latest viewers (Desktop and iPad app). The folio's tested trying to resolve this issue have been in both v26 and v27. Using InDesign CS6 on Mac. Same issue happens whether iPad is horizontal or vertical.
Please let me know if you need any further details on my setup or what i have been testing if that will help.
Thanks
Ross

i had this problem once, in the folio producer have you given the folio a name, number and description?
also in the viewer on the ipad they are not nessecarily in the right order - so scoot about on it
if all else fails, delete the folio and re-upload, we had a glitch once and the only solution was to re upload

  • Folio not showing on Ipad Adobe Viewer

Is the second time I have a folio not showing up on my ipad adobe viewer.
This has happened after i delete 4 or more articles from the folio, after deleting them it stops showing in my ipad viewer.
I researched here before and the solution was to check for the size, (that it was a size made for ipad) and yeah, i checked the size and the size is totally fine 768x1024
    but still doesnt appear.
what I have to do is to create a new folio and click "copy to" each article to the new folio (from the old one), but the option copy to has to be done one by one, which is very annoying and time consuming. Once all articles are copied the new folio shows up but the old one doesnt.
Anyone knows why this happens? how can it be solved faster?

  • Desktop Viewer and iPad Adobe Viewer conflict on video previews

    Steps:
Place .mov file in InDesign layout. Ignore the warnings about .mov file not for SWF output, only PDF. Be sad there is no poster.
Place .f4v file on same page in InDesign. Be happy that there are no warnings. Be happy there is a poster.
Use desktop Content viewer to preview the page. The .f4v file plays as desired. Image moves with controller. The .mov file controller moves but there is only a black screen, no image.
Use Adobe Viewer on iPad to preview the page. The .f4v file is a static picture with no video controls or images. The .mov file plays but there was no poster.
I was told that the desktob Content viewer is only for the most "raw" previews of the Overlay effects, but it seems that this is not quite correct. If you go by what the Content viewer shows you would not place the .mov file.
But if you place what does preview in the Content viewer, the .f4v file doesn't play on the iPad.
Based on what the desktop Content viewer displayed, I thought the only format that would work on the iPad would be the .f4v. But given the love between Apple and Adobe regarding Flash that didn't seem to be possible.
I've had someone else confirm these findings.
    Any thoughts?

    Sandee,
You're best sticking with .mp4 files, at least for now.

"Supported video and audio files you place in InDesign play when tapped in the Viewer. For video files, use a format that is compatible with Apple iTunes, such as an MP4 file with h.264 encoding. For audio files, use MP3 files."
    http://indesignsecrets.com/picking-the-best-video-format-for-digital-publishing.php
"What is the best video format to use for most digital publishing output? Surprisingly, there is usually one answer—H.264 files. H.264 files are the most widely supported: Adobe InDesign CS 5 and 5.5 let you place them, and you can control their viewing with the Media panel. They are supported in Adobe Flash Player, and they are embedded into Acrobat 9 and X, and Reader 9 and X. Apple has supported the format on its very popular devices (iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch), and it’s equally viewable on Macintosh or Windows computers. When you view videos on YouTube, Vimeo, or other sources on the internet, you’re viewing H.264."

  • Scrollable Frame issues

scrollabe frames create dead space making it unable to flip to the next page
    PLEASE HELP

I think I have had the same problem. I created two horizontal pull out tabs, the first one was the largest content frame, taking up a full half of a page vertically, and contained a vertically scrollable frame within. It was set behind the second frame which took up the full width of the page but only the lower quarter. I discovered two things: the upper, smaller content frame made the vertical scrollable frame within the other content frame have a smaller 'scrollable area' so you could only scroll where the other frame didn't exist (even though it is not visible). Also, the whole page navigation (moving from page to page, either up/down or sideways) was now limited to a small area in the top left corner where neither content frame existed. Needless to say the client was not happy and they have now become object states instead in order to maintain use of the whole page for navigation, as most people would use the lower right corner to swipe.

  • Navigation issue on iPad Content Viewer

I'm just testing out Content Viewer on my iPad (4th gen) and when I preview on the device I can't seem to access the naviagtion. i.e Home button, Contents etc...
Its should be a simple one tap to get this information but it doesnt appear.
I have turned off the app, the iPad, restarted InDesign CS5 with no joy. Even tried uploadin new folios but it just updates the version in the Content Viewer without giving me the option to navigate home.
Any ideas as to what the problem could be?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
have you tried to uninstall and re-install the Adobe Content Viewer?
Is this happening on just this folio or other folios as well?

  • IPad Adobe Viewer Update?

I have just installed all the updates on indesign (folio tools) but now when I go onto the iPad to test it, I get a message saying go to the appstore to update? I have been to the app store and no updates are available, unistalled and re-installed still nothing?
    Help?

I've had previous cases like that .. we do have some instructions to revert to older tools and basically re-publish the folio so that it is compatible with your viewer: see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/917/cpsid_91785.html
Also note the new Viewer Builder allows you to create a compatible Adobe Content Viewer. By doing this, users don’t have to wait for Apple or other marketplaces to approve our new Adobe Content Viewer in order to preview content that has not yet been published, or is published as private for testing.

  • Slideshow showing up perfectly on desktop, not on ipad Adobe Viewer

    Hi There,
I am creating a folio in indesign.
On my first page, I have made an image appear using the slideshow tool. I have ticked 'cross fade' with a speed of one second, and the text is appearing the way it should on both desktop and ipad.
On my second page however, I allocated the same settings to an image, and although the cross-fade function works perfectly when I preview my second page on desktop, when I view it on the ipad it appears quickly and doesn't fade in like I want it to even though cross-fade is ticked.
    What could be the problem?
    Kind Regards,
    Jillian

    Hi Bob,
I've been investigating this issue in the meantime, and I think it is actually a problem with Content Viewer on my Ipad. I was viewing my folio on an older version of content viewer, and not only was the issue with the cross-fade happening, all of the text appeared out of place (overlapping images etc.)
I then downloaded the latest update of content viewer from the app store, and now I can't open my folio. It appears in the library, but when I press view, nothing happens. I've tried restarting the ipad but this doesn't work. I am also having this issue with other folios in the library that were created within the last 2 months, however folios that were created earlier in the year open and I can view them and they function perfectly. Any clue as to why this would be?
I've attached an image of the version of folio producer tools that I am using (updated 2 days ago.)

  • Scrollable Frame causing viewer on iPad 1 to close

    Hello,
I am about to launch my magazine on the iPad, just need to send the App for Apple's approval. Unfortunately I am facing the problem above when changing orientation on iPad 1, and I don't like the idea of launching a "buggy" product.
The scrollable frame that is causing the viewer to close is vertical and is 2517 px height.
Is there any size limit that I should keep when working with Scrollable Frames?
    Thanks in advance.

You got a point here Bob!
My idea is to send the app with only a few (perfectly functional) articles for approval.
One other thing I can do is to not work on both orientations. I am using vertical and horizontal orientations to complement the content, on the vertical layout I have the main article and, in some cases, I use the horizontal to present photos as slideshows, scrollable frames...
But after your comment, I'll con tinue to try (harder) to overcome the problem.
    Thanks.

  • Still having trouble with Adobe Viewer

I'm still having the issue that when I have multi state objects, (state 1 is off the page, state 2 is on the page) the hidden state (state 2) is showing up on the iPad Adobe Viewer when you click the |||| icon from the menu in the upper left corner. In the overlay creator panel 'tap to play/pause' is not checked.  'Cross Fade' and 'Hide before playing' are checked.
Any help would be appreciated!!  thank you!

What I was able to determine:  In the Oject States where all the states are listed.  The State where there is no object in view needs to be listed first. (doesn't matter what state number it is, just needs to be first in the list)  When I did this for all my MSO's there was no viewing problems!!  Thanks for leading me down the right path. much appreciated!

  • HTML Article performance issues in Adobe Viewer on iPad

I have created a HTML Article using DPS but when I come to view it on Adobe Viewer in iPad the content does not scroll smoothly and the content is cut off and cropped (the whole page is not displayed), it is very judery and struggles to render the HTML below 'the fold' so to speak.
I have tried both options for importing HTML into DPS and both have the same performance/lag isuues.
I have a video in my HTML that seemed to be causing an issue where the video streaming was struggling to be pulled through, so I have treid YouTube and Vimeo video streaming and the performance/display issue is not resolved. I then tried embbeding an mp4 directly using HTML5 to see if it was a connection/bandwidth issue and the problem still exists. However the videos do play, its just the fact that the container is cropped in half.
Sometimes the whole HTML article renders but then when you swipe back up the page it struggles to render the content above? Also then when you swipe back down the page the content is also cropped that was visible before?
I have reviewed every available discussion on the Adobe Community and other resources but all the fixes mentioned do not have any effect.
If anybody can assist or has been experiencing the same issues any advise would be welcome.
Oh, the HTML Article contains some JS too, it does function correctly but I was wondering if JS causes problems? Just a thought.

Well, I think I may have found the answer so I thought I would share with the Community incase anyone else experiences the same type of issues.
After testing another peice of HTML that also included video streaming and heavy JavaScript, I narrowed the issue down to my JS. I had two Nivo Slider Carousels that were the route of the performance issues.
The other test HTML Article scrolls smoothly and the video pulls in as intended, although once in a while there is a slight delay in the page scrolling up and down but this is hardly noticeable.
I hope this may be of some help to other's in the future?

  • Folio issue - not showing in Adobe Viewer iPad 1

I have a Folio created at 1024 x 768. It is loaded through the Folio Builder and everything is filled on in the Folio Producer.
When I log into the Adobe Viewer on an iPad 1, it does not show up.
    My Adobe Viewer is up-to-date.
The Folio is created for Viewer 20.
Our Branded Viewer is updated to Viewer 20.
I also have another version uploaded at 2048 x 1536, it shows up in the Adobe Viewer on iPad 3.
Anyone have any ideas why is will not show on an iPad 1?

I am not sure exactly what happened. One of the articles imported, but it wqas scaled down 50%. Due to the size difference it would not load to the Viewer.
Reloading into the Folio did not work. I created another Folio with that article, loaded it. Then I copied from one folio to another in the Folio Producer.
    Go figure?

  • Android viewer scrollable frames

We often use scrollable frames in folios. Is there a chance the the native android viewer supports vector scrollable frames in the near future?

Yup, soon. We're trying very hard to get them done but there are some memory things on Android that get in the way of us releasing it. We're working on those issues now.

  • IOS Viewer Scrollable Frames bug

Scrollable frame drawers pulled down and to the right, which are set to Use Document Position, function as expected in the desktop and Android ACVs, but are displayed as static fully drawn objects without the scrolling functionality in the iOS ACV.
Adding the stand-off item that was used in the pre Use Document Position era will get them to function correctly.
    See in this sample document.

the behaviour is really different between desktop and iPad. the android viewer and the desktop viewer are both built in the (same?) air framework, so they behave the same the most time.
funny that it is working there, i always need to insert some "helper boxes" to ensure that there is enough flesh in the scrollable content that you can drag out of the view:

this might be a bug, but there is an easy workaround.
