Scrollable Text Boxes

Is it possible to have scrollable text boxes in InDesign CS6 without going down the digital publishing route? I was wanting to export as PDF but am open to options.

No.

Muse needs a Scrollable Text Box - which could be a tutorial for a Session from Danni - create a MuCow from scratch!
Also there is a desperate need to be able to label the widgets being named - having several "rectangle" is just annoying and is difficult to monitor.

  • Scrollable Text Box

I've created a fixed/pinned box on my site.. I'd like to create a scrollable text box inside that box.. where the user can scroll within that box and not have to scroll down the entire browser. Is this possible? If not, is there a html way to achieve this? I have no coding experience... If this is possible using coding, can one of you developers please give me the instructions on how to achieve this? Thank you very much in advance!
I forgot to add that I'd like to use a custom icon to scroll down the text box.

  • Scrollable text box and MSO

Can you have scrollable text with a tinted colour frame beneath it that sits on top of a MSO slide show?

    Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. Attached is a screen grab of the sort of theing I'm trying to do. The text bottom right is a scrollabel frame, and the background image is a slide show. When I preview it on the ipad, the background slideshow works, green coloured background to the text box and the graphics dissapper, but the scrollable text stays.
    Any Help?

  • Scrollable text out of control...

When I post the .swf file to the net inside a dynamic
scrollable text box I created the font (Myriad Pro) defaults to a
sarif font on PC's, and on my Mac Safari is is not anti aliased.
Just one more thing...I justified the text inside the box and when
it gets published it never justifies.

    What are you talking about?
Please clearly explain what the issue is.

  • Text box problem or question

I'm having the text field problem. I have two text boxes (inside my .fla file) one i can add more text without the box expanding and can  then select the text and croll down to view the missing text and the other one just gets longer the more text I add. I'm trying to duplicate the text box that does not expand the more text I add to it.
All the settings in the properties are the same on both and I've tried it in MX and CS3 and the both have the same properties in both.
    I'm stumped can anyone help.
    I'm attaching the file.
    Thanks!

If you right click the textfield on the stage you can select the "scrollable" option for it.  Another option to duplicate the textfield is to copy/paste it.

  • Preview and scrollable text problems

Is anyone else having problems getting the scrollable text function to work in an overlay to a fixed layout ePub? I have the latest version of InDesign CC, purchased last week.
Here is a picture of my file. As you can see, it's pretty darn simple. Content box is on the right. You can't see the entire box but It is long enough to fit all of my text. On the left, I created a container box, wider but shorter than the content box. I then selected the content and used Paste Into to put the content into the container. Next, I selected the container, went to Folio Overlays, and I designated the content box as vertical scrolling, start at upper left, and Vector format. But when when I tried to preview it (more on preview problems in a minute), the container appears as a simple text box with no scrolling capability. I've asked the Adobe help people and they don't seem to have any ideas yet.
As far as preview goes, well, I can export to Adobe Digital Editions or I can look at the page in Window/Interactive/EPUB Interactivity Preview. But File/Folio Preview just processes the page and then returns nothing. And the same thing happens when I hit Preview in the Folio Overlays panel.
I'd love to know if this is unique to my system or a common problem. Since I only purchased CC to produce annotated books, there is not much I can do without it. And if CC doesn't do it, does anyone have a suggestion for something a non-programmer could use to get the same result?
    Thanks for any help.

Scrollable frames are a DPS -- Digital Publishing Suite-- function (as are all other effects from the Folio Overlay panel). Those are a different beast than Fixed-Layout EPUBs.
For fixed-layout, all interactivity is supported (any panel in the Windows > Interactive flyout) except for Forms, Page Transitions, and the two Animation presets Smoke and Blur. Note that the panels Folio Builder and Folio Overlays are not part of the Interactive group of panels.
    I know it's very confusing!
If you're trying to create an *app* then you use DPS, and you should be asking this question in the DPS forum.

If you're trying to create an *ebook* then this is the forum to post in.
You might find my new lynda.com video tutorial course, Creating Fixed Layout EPUBs from InDesign CC, to be helpful. A bunch of the videos are free and may be all you need. • INTERACTIVE PDF QUESTION - Scrollable Text Area

I am trying to do my resume in a interactive pdf and need more room than my page offers.
Is there a way to make a interactive pdf with a text box in place that has hidden text that can be scrolled up or down to read.
Basically make the text area look like a placed web page within the interactive pdf with scroll bars.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

If you want the scrollable text in the interactive pdf, and you are using indesign to create it do like this
    Export to interactive pdf
Open the pdf in Adobe livecycle Designer and create textbox where you want and remove the Limit Text checkbox
Then Export it to the pdf
I think it will solve your porblem

  • Firefox Sync setup says "Incorrect words, try again" after receiving message "Your answer was correct. Please copy and paste the text in this text box into the box below."

When setting up Firefox Sync, I get all the way to the "Please Confirm You're Not a Robot" screen in the wizard, and enter the captcha values. I then receive in a small scrollable text area the message "Your answer was correct. Please copy and paste the text in this text box into the box below."
I copy and paste the code, in this case "03AHJ_Vuv1gStVScBWSYWw6M4_KKQ4wzhCDSzKqiCfv57XXGyvHtOk4ixehysQhOTIf-lsL41lc5n-piztjYJSKu6urCeRvETVfpzRDh7OmHCDZiIBZv9Qg4oyrmWDMu6JA7Eh-4C8aZn4" into the only other visible text box, and click the next button, only to receive the message "Incorrect words, try again."
My only option is to cancel at that point. I have tried this three times, once even starting the entire process over from the start, and it ends up with the same outcome each time.

  • Scrolling text / Dynamic text Box

    Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can help me. I am quite new to flash and
scripts so excuse my stupidity..!!! I am creating a media player
(CS3), and have almost finished it except on small thing that is
    driving me round the twist.
I have a few dynamic text boxes that take info from id3 tag
of the mp3 file and I want to make the info inside the boxes scroll
as ideally some of the information will be longer that the text
    box.
The code to populate the boxes is:
    function id3Handler(evt:Event):void {
    songInfo.text = song.id3.artist;
    songName.text = song.id3.songName;
    album.text = song.id3.album;
I have set the boxes to be scrollable but nothing happens,
hopefully this will be simple for someone to me.
    Thanks in advance.

Just bumping this back up. I'd really like to figure this one
    out

  • I need help with a 1 Page Form with scrollable text field (5000 limit characters) and printing

Hello, I have no training in using Adobe Acrobat Pro or Livecycle Designer so I need major help with a 1 page form that I am attempting to create. Basically the form will be used to nominate employees for a Job Well Done Award.
    The form contains the following:
1.) The name(s) of the employees being nominated and the date of the accomplishment.
2.) In the middle of the page I have a section for a write up, limited to 5000 characters, this is were I am needing the most help. A couple of things, about this section: The font is set at 11 and I don't want it to change. The text field has multiple-line, scroll long text enabled. The text field is a certain size and can only hold so much text, then it starts to scroll, which I am ok with, I like that feature. The issue I am having is during printing. I would like to keep the text field scrollable but when I print I would like to be able to print everything in that field. Executing this is the problem, I have no clue how to do it. I was hoping for some setting within Acrobat Pro or LiveCycle to be available, but the more I read and research this, it appears that it may require java, xml, basically some coding. I don't know for sure.
3.) Below the text field I have another field for the person nominating to type their name and right next to that another field for a digital signature.
4.) And finally below those two fields I have a Submit button that is setup to start email application so the form can be emailed to the proper inbox.
    Thank you in advance.

With an Acrobat form the only thing you can do is export the text to
another location (like a blank field on another page) or to another file
format. With an LCD form you can expand the text box itself, but you'll
need to ask about that over at the LCD Scripting forum.

  • SCROLLABLE TEXT PROB;EM NOT WORKING

I am having problems with the scrollable text. I placed a big jpeg image. I want to create a scrollable text on that so I made a layer for that. Even I went to paste and board through preference pannel and changed to 1024pixels for the horizontal version. Now I put the text on the past board and with the same name I also created a layer of Caontainer wher I made a box on Indseign active board and put this layer where I created the frame with the same name. Now when I save and go to the preview folio my scrollable text does not work.
Do I have to do some thing in overlays or any thing in In Design

To answer to your first two questions: If I'm understanding you, you are correct. The 7 page magazine would have to all be in the same folio in the Folio Builder. Creating a new folio in the Folio Builder would create another project.
To import multiple articles, each InDesign file should be in its own folder. Those folders should then all be in one folder called simply called "folio" (when naming files and folders, the simpler the better).
I don't know what you mean by TOC images.
It sounds like you need to do some research and read up on the basics.
This website has some very good information: https://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/topics.html
    I hope this helps.

  • Scrollable text fields?

Hi, does anybody know how to add a scrollable text field to a slide? Or, at least, to imitate it? (In contrast to the text scrolling effects in iMovie I'd like to be able to stop and proceed scrolling by moude click.) Thanks for your suggestions.
    Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

You can do this, but it can be a bit quirky.
First of all, change the zoom of your slide to 25%. You will see it shrink down to a very small size in the top left corner.
Then create a text field and fill it with your information. Resize the item if necessary. Change the font *** needed and make it look pretty the way you want.
Now add some buffer space to the beginning and the end. Leave quite a bit of space at the end.
(You may want to put a stroke on the text box so you know where it ends for this next part)
Take the entire thing and move it up so you can no longer see the text above the slide. (you can still see the buffer space though)
No set a build for that object to move in, from the bottom, at your desired speed.
That should give you what you want, I think. Let me know if it works (I can't try it right now)
    Gerry.

  • Scrollable Text via Buttons

I've got my canvas size at 900x600 pixels, the text i want on
the screen is too large for the site's design, so i want to have
the text in the middle with 2 scroll buttons UP - DOWN on the right
hand side of the text. [let me point out i dont want the scrollbar
from components cos it doesnt go with my sites colors]. So thats
    not an option.
I looked online and it said 'make a text box, select
'scrollable' then create a button and right click and type in the
following into the actions' but when i right click the buttons
actions i always get 'current selection cannot have actions applied
    to it'
There was a reason i stopped using flash, and it seems ive
stumbled upon that reason again, im reading tutorials on the CS3
Pro version which is the one i have and what its telling me to do
is not possible. Its pissing me off now, why is it so hard for
    something so simple.
    Text Button UP, Button DOWN
    Click DOWN text scrolls down
    Click UP text scrolls up
Not rocket science, but for some reason Flash refuses to let
me do what i want to do. Im sure i have to piss around with
something before i can do what i want.. but can i as hell find it.
    Maybe its cos its late.

if you want to attach code to objects, you must use as2. as3
doesn't allow code to be attached to objects.
