Scrolling acceleration in Mountain Lion?
When skimming through long documents in previous versios of OS X, I would continually scroll small, quick intervals on my trackpad. In Mountain Lion, it seems Apple has added an acceleration to this scrolling behavior, a bit similar to trackpad cursor behavior. Now, when you continually scroll small bits in rapid succession, it accelerates until your scrolling skips dosens of pages at once.
Is there any way to disable this behavior? (Although I'm guessing not)
Go to System Prefrences > Accesibility > Mouse and Trackpad > Trackpad Options and next to scrolling it will say: Scrolling "with inertia" click there and change it to "without inertia".

Scroll malfunction with Mountain Lion and Mavericks after download
Since I downloaded Mountain Lion and now Mavericks the scroll function has stopped working. All other pad functions work but not scroll with 2 fingers. Anyone else solved the problem?
HI tmwfromuk,
Did experience exactly the same malfunction. Still did figure out why.
Will continue to figure why. When I have some news I will inform you on this.

HT4930 Turn off mouse scrolling completely in Mountain Lion?
After installing Mountain Lion 10.8.5, I have a slightly different Magic Mouse preferences window than I did with Snow Leopard. There is no longer an option for entirely turning off scrolling. This is really annoying while working in Photoshop as the cursor will periodically "jump". I also do not have "Universal Access" in my System Preferences. How do I turn off scrolling?
In case anyone comes here looking I made an applescript that does the job. You could automate this using automator so use a simple keyboard shortcut to activate it for easy access.
Script:
tell application "System Preferences"
activate
set current pane to pane "com.apple.preference.universalaccess"
end tell
tell application "System Events"
tell application process "System Preferences"
tell table 1 of scroll area 1 of window "Accessibility"
delay 0.2
select (row 10)
end tell
click button 5 of window 1
delay 0.1
if value of checkbox 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility" is 1 then
click checkbox 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility"
else
click checkbox 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility"
end if
click button 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility"
end tell
end tell
tell application "System Preferences"
quit
end tell
To do the automator method all you have to do is launch it and select "Service" Then set "service receives selected" to "no input". Search in the action bar for "Run Applescript". Paste the script code there and save. Now in System Preferences> Keyboard> shortcuts there should be a catagory called General. Under that should be whatever you named your automator service. Make sure its checked and then just click and add a keyboard shortcut!
Hope someone finds it useful. I made this for my brother because he hates having scroll on for games as well. -
Chrome and some other apps scrolling jerky in Mountain Lion
I note from another site there are seven bugs needed fixing asap. I have most of them after upgrading.
Worst at the moment is the crap scrolling in Chrome and some other apps.
Also losing the pointer bery often
How soo do Apple respond and fix these things normally.
I think Lion and Mountain Lion are brilliant but I didn't think my new commitment to Apple would include these shoddy upgrades.Yep...

Lost scroll bars in mountain lion
Ever since performing the last security update on my MacPro 3,1 (running MacOS X 10.8.5) I've had a lot of system weirdness. My magic mouse lost a lot of it frunctionality (I can just point and click and right click) the Mac kernal was visible along with the CoreSyncInstall.log, various apps open at start up even though they are not listed in the log in items, and my scroll windows dissapear never to return until I resize the window then they only appear for a brief moment. I repaired permissions, took the disk offline and ran TechTools on it, I'm at wits end. Does anyone have some insight on this?
ThanksScroll bars have been gone by default for several iterations of OS X ... I forgot exactly which one got rid of them by default (my guess is Lion).
Anyway, go to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar), choose "Geenral", and set your scroll bar preferences there. -
Scrolling bug in mountain lion? - please help
Really annoying bug that seems to have developed in the last few days - can anyone help?
when looking at any window with a scroll bar the screen starts to automatically scroll in jerky steps every quarter of a second or so downwards (or upwards if I reverse the swipe direction on the mouse or trackball settings) to the end of the content without any input from me. This makes most programmes almost useless unless I enter tehm without the mouse cursor over the window.
Same problem using either trackpad or mouse so suspect its a software issue not anything on the peripheral.
fully updated system, not helped by SMC reboot or "killall Dock" terminal command which I read on another post might be helpful
anyone with similar problems or who can help me?Not a bug, please do a SMC reset again. Follow the directions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If that doesn't help please reset the PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Or finally you may have a corrupt cache, restart in Safe Mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455 -
Is there any way to disable the expanding scroll bars in Mountain Lion?
Since I never scroll by dragging the scroll bars with the cursor, I find the expansion of the scroll bars to be a distracting and even productivity limiting feature. Is there any way to disable the expansion of the scroll bars (perhaps with a terminal command)? System Preferences doesn't have an option to switch this feature off as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks a lot in advance.No!

Disable Very Fast Scrolling Acceleration
Please, make update disabling very fast scrolling acceleration in Mountain Lion.
Scrolling sould works like in Lion!!!The speed of scrolling through long lists depends on how quickly you move your finger or thumb around the click wheel.
That's it. -
Scrolling Unbearably SLOW Since Upgrading to Mountain Lion
I have a LOT of Playlists set up in iTunes, and previously if I were trying to drag and drop a playlist onto my iPod, it was very easy - scrolling acted just like it did in every other program. However, since upgrading to Mountain Lion recently, it takes FOREVER to drag a Playlist from the bottom of the list all the way up to my iPod to copy the playlist to the iPod. I can't seem to find the "sweet spot" to make the scrolling MOVE - I drag up to the top of that window and usually it would begin scrolling up the playlists at a normal speed - but now when I point the cursor to the top of that window, it will scroll maybe 2 or 3 playlists and then "stall" - I have to jiggle up and down over and over to get it to move at all! It literally is taking over 2 minutes to get from the Z's to the top to drop to my iPod! This can't be right...??
Is this a bug? Or is there another way you're supposed to do this? How bizarre is that??!! But yes, it worked for me, too. Just wish you could hold it instead of having to hit it over and over to keep the scrolling going.
Another "trick" I found by accident was that if you hold the cursor towards the top like you're trying to scroll up - but then drag it back and forth (left and right) - it causes the upwards scrolling to speed up. -
When I got the prompt yesterday that there was an update for Mountain Lion I went ahead and downloaded it, and it is awful! The scroll bar on the right side of the screen disappears too quickly now to use it easily, and is difficlut to get back, which adds extra steps (clicking on the down arrow while the cursor is in the scroll area then quickly clicking the arrow cursor while it is in the temporary scroll down bar. Or else this is from a Firefox update I did NOT actually download, but indications when I started up my computer today are that it did download somehow by itself without my permission, as there was a notice that some of my Mozilla ad-ons might not be compatible with this version of Firefox. I couldn't understand that since it should have been the same version of Firefox I used yesterday! I know I didn't download the new Firefox because the pop-up box went away very quickly each time it came up so I never did click on it. Does anyone know if the change in scrolling is a Firefox update or the OSX 10.8.5 update? I HATE it and want it off, but don't know which one is the culprit nor how Firefox updated itself without my consent. Aaaarrrggghhh!
System Preferences > General > Show scroll bars:
Make sure that "Always" is selected.
Best. -
i just upgraded from snow leopard v10.6.8 to os x mountain lion and my scroll bar has disappeared on all my applications on the internet. does anyone know a patch to get the scroll bar to work.
Open General preferences in System Preferences. You can set the desired scrollbar behavior there.

Problems with scrolling after mountain lion download.
I just downloaded mountain lion today and ever since the download I am having issues with the scrolling for my magic mouse and trackpad. My problem is when I scroll down on my mouse or trackpad it actually goes up on the page and vice versa. I have seen others have had some scrolling issues but not exactly the same as mine. Just wondering if there is any known fix for this problem? I did the PRAM reset and also the SMC reset and that didn't fix the problem unfortunately.
Look in System Preferences > Trackpad (or mouse) > Scroll & Zoom tab > uncheck Scroll direction: Natural.
The scrolling direction has been changed to a technique where your push the screen up or pull it down, takes a few days to get used to. The swipe directions will also be affected by this change. -
GPU accelerator Photoshop CS6 problem in mountain lion
I'm having trouble with Photoshop CS6 after installing the mountain lion. When the graphics processor is enabled photoshop crashes. I believe it is a conflict between ML, GPU and Accelerator ATI Radeon 5770.
Any predictions for this bug fix?Apple can't stick with an OS long enough for Developers to keep up, whether they want to or not.
So, strike one against Apple.
Apple has a history of poor graphics options and equally shady with regard to driver development.
Strike 2.
Adobe has always "supported" Apple on Adobe's "own terms".
In the old days when Macs were limited in user number, somewhat understandable.
But now.... Strike against Adobe
Adobe has taken to a development/release cycle similar to that of Apple OS X, but fails to properly support the OS versions that it targets.
Strike 2 against Adobe.
Neither company really gives a crap about the user needs/desires. What is offered is what some marketing types (real world, yeah, right) decide a user "wants".
Strike 3 against both companies.
The user is out.

I'd like to use the Data Socket Write VI to be able to give my loginname and my password from LabVIEW 6i. I really don't know how this VI works, and/or if this is possible. Thanks for your help.
