Hi, I'm a little frustrated with the tablet and am using my laptop to type this. My playbook cursor keeps jumping from subject to content and back as I'm trying to type in the content window.
My original problem is the webpage dragging as I'm trying to scroll thru a menu list on that page. For example, if I open the music webpage "Pandora" and try to scroll thru my stations list, I end up dragging the whole web page up or down. How can I scroll without the web page moving around? .....and what am I doing wrong with the issue stated at the top? Thanks in advance for anybody that can help.

1. This forum is incompatible with Playbook. It has been reported.
2. Some web pages are incompatible with Tablets - All tablets including the eyepads. Drop down and drag menus often will not work.

Can you scroll and drag items in stacks?

Hi,
I know that in Snow Leopard it is possible to scroll in stacks but does anyone know if there is a tweak/modification available that can enable owners of Leopard to also scroll in stacks?
And also is there any way to drag from stacks when in List view. It is possible in Grid view, but Grid view does not automatically show one what is inside a folder if one highlights it, whereas in List view, simply hovering over a folder name will cause a list of its contents to appear (but you cannot drag from this list AFAIK).

Elements 6 scrolling and drag and drop issues.

In organizer, my mouse will not scroll proberly either by clicking on the up and down arrows or by clicking and pulling the tab. I also connot drag and drop from the tag section to pictures. Can anybody provide a solution.

Touch devices - list-based control scroll and drag distinction

Hi,
I am wondering how Flex is able to distinct between a touch scroll of a list-based control and a touch drag event of an item in the list on a touch enabled device.
Unfortunately I am not able to test this issue here right now, since I have no touch device running AIR 2 or Flash 10.1.
In my application, I have a number of DataGrids. On touch devices, I want the user to be able to scroll the list without using the thin scroll bars, but also want to enable him/her to drag list items.
Anybody out there with an idea?

Welcome to the discussions, JCEIV!
Just a few pointers that may help:
AirPort Utility 5.5.2 is the latest version of that application. Is the AirPort Extreme running 7.5.2 firmware?
Did you connect an ethernet cable from your computer to one of the LAN <-> ports to make the configuration changes on the AirPort Extreme? +I just don't trust wireless for any type of important configuration changes or settings+, but you may disagree.
After you update the AirPort Extreme, you can disconnect the ethernet cable and move back to wireless.
If the AirPort Extreme does not restart correctly when you update it, you may need to perform a Factory Default Reset to clear out any old and possibly corrupt settings. It's a hassle to have to reconfigure everything and reenter all the data, but I know of no other shortcuts.

Touchpad Synaptics: Touch-and-drag while scrolling

Say there's text you want to highlight, but it spans more than the current amount displayed on your screen. On a touchpad, I do the touch-and-drag gesture (tap once, then drag with touchpad) until I highlight all of the text. However, if the text is large, then merely putting the mouse at the bottom of the screen makes for considerbly slow scrolling. Normally on Windows, I would instead apply a second finger to drag up and down, which would scroll the screen at a desired faster rate.
Is there an equivalent that you can do in Linux? The TapAndDragGesture in synaptics allows for the touch-and-drag feature, but it doesn't allow for the extra one where you can apply the second finger to scroll up/down while still highlighting. I haven't found any other alternatives that allow one to highlight while scrolling relatively fast. (LockedDrags doesn't do this either.)

This topic isnt really something normally answered in the Arch forums. Im not saying people wont answer (as I myself am going to), but generally this is something better for upstream developers to consider as opposed to Arch users. Just trying to point you in a more productive direction for the future Many times if you ask something like this Archers will just ignore you so you get the point..
That said, my touchpad on Arch works exactly as you describe desiring. I double-tap 1 finger to initiate the highlight function, then move down to select more text of course. If I reach the end of the visible page, I can simply swipe my second finger and it will initiate vertical scrolling without affecting text selection. FWIW, I switched to xf86-input-synaptics-git in the AUR for multitouch, and that is how it works for me.
I do not have edge scrolling or sustained scrolling enabled on my system as it drives me nuts. When I really want to select a ton of text quickly, Ill initiate by holding the left touchpad mouse button down, then two-finger scrolling up or down. That is the easiest way for me..

Scrolling and selecting text with a bluetooth mouse. (Possible bug?)

I currently have an Apple Keyboard and Magic Mouse hooked up to my Playbook. They work very well, the implementation is incredible. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to scroll with the the mouse. It really limits the PB since if I hook it up to my television I cannot scroll unless I have the PB near me. Has anyone gotten this to work or is this something we are hoping to get in a future update? Aslo, is there a way to select text and bring up the copy/paste menu without having to use the touch screen? I can select text by holding shift / arrow keys on the keyboard but am unable to perform any actions without having to use the touchscreen.

Hold on there, @jnko -- are you saying you can scroll with the mouse (as in, use the virtual scroll wheel), or are you saying you can use the mouse to click on the document in, say, Word To Go, and drag it to make the screen scroll? I can only do the latter, and, like you, can't scroll at all in the web browser. Stinks that this wasn't fixed with the last update...

No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. The final Apple support solution was to reinstall my operating system. I would prefer not to. Any other ideas?

After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

How to add a hand tool (grab the page and drag) function on Chrome and firefox pdf viewer?

To clarify, hand tool is a function for user click on the pdf and dragging around , that is used to replace the scroll bar navigating .
The problem is, by default the Chrome and firefox pdf viewer do not have that function and I would like allow the user to drag the page.
A workaround is to use a jquery plugin (grab to pan https://github.com/Rob--W/grab-to-pan.js in my case) with an embed object (pdf viewer). When I maximum the size of the pdf and user drag the embed object.
The problem I have encounter is
1) When using chrome/ firefox, the pdf content do not fit to the page but auto resize by default even I have set the adobe pdf open parameter , using iframe.
2) The jquery seems conflict with the firefox pdf viewer, it works smoothly on Chrome but not firefox.

I've recently lost tap-to-click functionality on my synaptics touchpad, I have no idea why because I haven't changed anything recently.

I have the same problem, my workaround is setting the options with synclient executed automatically on login.
Im quite annoyed though that gnome just overrides settings done in xorg and hal policies, can anyone tell where to look for gnomes information storage?

Two finger scrolling while dragging files in finder

Hi guys.
I'm new to this forum but have used it in the past so I'll start by saying thank you for all the people who post on here.
Now for my query, and this one is driving me nuts because it seems like such a simple thing that is either missing or I can't figure out how to use for the life of me.
I know while dragging files in finder when you take them near to the bottom or top of the window it will scroll up or down. The problem is the area on which you have to move you mouse is about 5 mm big and if you go too far it stops scrolling etc. It's very clumsy. It amazed me that while dragging a file I could not still two-finger scroll, which would mean that you could control the speed. It would also be a lot more efficient.
I have searched countless forums and through google but cannot find an answer. If anyone can tell me how to two-finger scroll while dragging files please help me?! Or if there are any plug-ins that have more customisability that could allow it.

Why can't I open a playlist folder and drag and drop playlists in it?

I have hundreds of playlists that I am trying to organize via playlist folders. Right now I have to select a single playlist and drag it all the way to the top to the selected playlist folder. That is very tedious and time consuming! I have tried to open the playlist folder and just drag and drop the playlist but no go on that. Is there a way to move multiple playlists at the same time to the same playlist folder?

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.
I found no way to drag multiple playlists unless I collect them into a folder first and then drag that folder all the distance.
But you could try to shorten the way you have to drag the playlist, by collapsing all folders but the one you are working on.
I keep one big folder, that usually hold all my playlist and playlist folders.
When I want to rearrange certain folders I move them from this container and close the folder containing all the rest. Then I can move the from one folder to the other without too much scrolling.

Copy/paste and drag/drop not working in Mt. Lion

After two weeks of searching, I can not find the hangup which is causing my iMac 27" 10.8 to stop copy/paste and drag/drop following successfully doing the same shortly after startup. In Safe Mode, it doesn't happen, so I'm wondering how to track down this problem (extension?). I have to restart in order to get it functioning again after a short time of working. There has to be some kind of timing, like a program installed with a time limit which probably was forgotten in Lion and then reared its ugly head in Mt. Lion. Any suggestions for tracking this puppy? Or is there a program I could buy to do so?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.

Drop-down lists, scrolling and IE 7 issue?

I was using Captivate 3 prior to my work upgrading to
Internet Explorer 7 and had no issues with capturing scrolling
within a webpage and chosing an option on a drop-down list. I just
recently started working on a new project and using IE 7.
I went through my steps on using a drop-down list and
scrolling through it to find an option. However, when I went in to
edit the demonstration, the slide that showed the "selection" put
the correct selection in the caption - however, the slide
background image had somehow reverted the drop-down list to the top
of the list rather than in the middle where the selection would
have taken place.
Has anyone else seen this?
I went back did the same steps - but this time, I made sure
to take an extra shot prior to clicking the option - so I had the
correct screen showing for the lesson.
Anyone else have any other issues going on with IE 7 and
Captivate 3 that I should be aware of?

I have only been using Captivate for about a month now, but
that is how it has always behaved for me...When you click and drag
it starts the "Full Motion Recording". I have had mixed results
with full motion so far. Scrolling up and down and zooming in and
out of a page have been problematic. You can change these options,
or turn off the full motion all together.
Edit--Preferences--Recording--Full Motion Recording.
BTW, I am using IE7 on a Vista machine so I cannot speak to
the functionality prior to IE7.

My horizontal scrollbar doesn't work. I can't even click and drag it.

My horizontal scroll bar doesn't work anymore. If there is information on right of the screen I can't get at it using the scroll bar. I can't even click and drag it and clicking on the space between does nothing. The vertical scroll bar works fine but the horizontal scroll bar only works by using my mouse wheel tilt right. The horizontal scroll bar works in IE but not firefox.

as my Photo Size is Huge ..    70,000 + photos in the Computer. .   and was   40,000 in the   I - Touch .. .

          No Help . ..   so far, .. as a Apple user   since   1996 ..    I have Never experieanced such frustration    ???
