Scrolling freeze (Chrome, preview, Appstore)

Since I have updated to Mavericks, I had scrolling freeze issues.
Especially, When I am Internet surfing, scrolling works at the first time and then both touch pad and mice are suddenly frozen.
Aslo, When I hit the power button, the computer directly goes to sleep mode. Any one know how to fix them?
These problems are really annoying and I really want to downgrade my OS.

Adobe Bridge Freezes While Previewing Animation Presets

I know this question has been asked several times over, but I do not have a resolution so I thought would ask again. Like the previous posts, when I browse presets from the Effects and Animations menu, Adobe Bridge opens. I can scroll through the animations, but once I choose one, the play button scrubs and appears to play, but never does, and then the program freezes. I have read the blog posts and installed the fixes posted on the adobe blog, but nothing helps. All of my Apple Software and Creative Cloud software says it is up to date.
Here are my settings:
Adobe After Effects 12.2.1.5
Adobe Bridge 6.0.1.6
Apple Quicktime 10.1
20-inch, Early 2008 iMac OS X
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)

Thanks for the quick reply Rick. Yes, 4Gb is not a lot, but when I bought the machine I was not doing any video and it sure seemed like plenty in 2008. I probably should upgrade...
I did close down everything else, but the problem still exists. I can navigate to a thumbnail, but once I click on it and try to preview, the program freezes and I have to force quit.

HT6114 pdf's freezing in Preview!

I see that there is no update for Preview in the current update (10.9.2) regarding the fact that it keeps freezing randomly when reading pdf's. Is anyone else still having this problem?

I do like Adobe Acrobat and use it regularly but there are parts of Preview that I like a little better. That being said, this is a new problem that Preview has, where it is freezing while scrolling through pdf's. I've been using the same type of pdf's for years now and it is only after the Mavericks update that this freezing problem has started.

Bridge freezes while previewing animation

I'm using a Mac, 16GB RAM, 200+GB free space. Bridge CC 2014
When I want to preview an animation in Bridge it freezes. I can select any folder, but selecting an animation will freeze Bridge. I can't actually quit Bridge, I have to Force Quit it and, interestingly, Finder doesn't show Bridge as "not responding".
In my Activity Monitor it shows CompressorJobController, CompressorTranscoder and dynamiclinkmediaserver as "Not Responding".
I've uninstalled Bridge, (with Adobe Cleaner), deleted the cache, reinstalled, did Disk repair permissions - still not working.

Two finger scroll problem in Preview

When viewing a pdf with over 200 pages in Preview, for example a pdf book, two fringer scroll stops functioning periodically. In order to get it working again you have to click on the destop and then click back onto preview to get two finger scroll to work agian. Is this a limitation of the Preview app? This does not seem to be a problem with smaller pdfs.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Since I use Mavericks I'm not able to scroll with 2 fingers in the preview app. Only the keyboard with the arrows works.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with scrolling in Preview. I found a few resources that I think will help isolate and troubleshoot this issue.
First, try booting your computer into Safe Mode and test it here:

If the issue is not present in Safe Mode, it can mean that a third-party application set to automatically launch may be causing conflicts with Preview.

IPhoto 9.4 Update-Scrolling Freezes in Faces

I have 859 Faces in iPhoto. After the 9.4 Update, scrolling up or down in Faces freezes. I can exit out of Faces but when I return, it still will not scroll.
Is anyone else having this issue and if so have you had luck in a remedy? I appreciate all advice on this topic.

Hi on my side the issue is still there. I talked to the apple supporting Saturday some minutes and the support told me that my library is ok or at least the pictures are still there. The guy had the theory that after recalling my backup from before the update everything should be fine.
I of course tried that and copied my library from 16.09.12. This library was definitely before update to iPhoto 9.4
I opened afterwards iPhoto and the dialog appeared that library needs to be updated.
Then again the same issues appeared. Faces hangs while scrolling and faces proposes empty pictures as proposals for some faces :-(
So no solution at all.
For me 9.4 has definitely an issue. Unfortunately I could call the support again today but I will try my luck tomorrow. I guess they are already aware that there are problems.
A reasonable solution is not yet there I guess.

Is it possible to do synchronized scrolling in mac preview?

Hello! I'd like to be able to sompare two pdfs side by side in mac preview. Does anyone know a way or an app that will do this with synchronized scrolling between the windows?

In the Browser select Effects>Video Generators>Text>Crawl.
Double-click Crawl to open it in the Viewer, click Controls and do your writing and adjustments etc.
When you have finished change the Viewer to Video and drag the Viewer window down to the Timeline.

Fullscreen Gallery image gets erased when scrolling on Chrome

I'm working on a website where we have an abstract video background playing behind a transparent logo, which when clicked scrolls the page down to the main content. The logo is layed over the video background as a single image in the Fullscreen Gallery widget, so that it resizes according to the browser size. On Safari and Firefox, everything works great (although a little slowly, I'm going to compress my images before the site is announced). But on Chrome, the scrolling window erases the fullscreen image from the bottom up, leaving only the background image behind it, and it looks terrible. I've run it without the video backround, and without the scroll effects on the item beneath the video, and I've pinned the gallery in place, but nothing seems to work. My site is live, though unfinished, at adptpro.com if you'd like to see what I'm talking about.
Any help? Or is there a more robust way to create the effect I'm going for?

I would not want to hazard a guess until I can check the instantaneous data rate at the time of the problem. Got the URL and a time where the file stops?

Scrolling freezes after installing FF11, only manually dragging scrollbars keeps working.

While reading a page and scrolling normally, scrolling (almost) completely freezes. Then, the scrolling only works by klicking on the scrollbar and manually dragging it.
Klicking next to the scrollbar for page up / down has no effect.
Scrolling via two-finger-guesture on trackpad has no effect.
Scrolling with arrow-keys has no effect.
After the Scrollbar was manually dragged, scrolling using any of the other means mentioned works again.

Well, this is probably caused by one of your extensions, or a corrupt Firefox profile. Let's try the easiest first ;)
Try to start Firefox up in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]], and let's see if you get the error still. If t still happens, we will know we need to dig a bit further. If it doesn't happen anymore, we can go through and narrow down what specific extension is causing the problem.
If it works in Safe Mode, then start Firefox back up in Normal mode. Disable all your addons (read the Disabling Extensions portion of [[Uninstalling add-ons|this article]]). Then, re-enable them one by one, testing after each one. If it stops working after you enable one, then we know what the culprit is.
As I said, that is the most likely, but give it a try, if it that doesn't work we can do some more steps.

Captivate CS4 Freezing on Preview Project

I have copied pages from a previous project into a current project. After pasting, I am unable to preview or publish project. While compiling, it continues thru the Audio Progress fine, but when it encounters the "Generating Slides", it gives the infamous "Adobe Captivate has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have found my version to freeze quite often. Any suggestions?

I am not getting the message. I am just encountering the freezing up and then having to press
ctrl-alt-delete to close out of the program. I can't complete the publishing process. Also, on my
computer that I have Captivate 4 on, I can't login to this forum; the webpage keeps flashing between
logging me in and redirecting. I have Vista on that computer. Very frustrated...please help.

Scrolling PDFs in Preview is choppy

Scrolling, even the smallest PDFs, in Preview using the trackpad (swiping a la iPad) is very choppy.
Even if I'm swiping very slowly, it pretends that I'm not moving my fingers at all, and then suddenly it jumps down half a page.
I did not have this issue with Mac OS 10.9, this issue only started in 10.10 Yosemite.

Thanks...I guess I could have figured that out on my own. To my defense, however, I realized that the document I was attempting to do that to is password protected - a situation that doesn't, understandability, permit this. I tried it on an unprotected version and it worked.

I am getting this unresponsive script message when googling and its causing firefox to freeze "chrome:/wrc/content/common/scripts/bal.js:854" - Any advice?

When I try an google certain web sites including "NFL" firefox freezes and I get the unresponsive script chrome:/wrc/content/common/scripts/bal.js:854". I uninstalled Google Chrome but still have the same problem.

Thanks to philipp: I disabled the avast addon (from) when I updated to avast 9.0.2008, and the unresponsive script has stopped freezing firefox during google searches.

It's not too bad, and seems to be more thorough than the avast addon.
I also use the web of trust (WOT) addon.
