Scrolling layouts list on a low res screen

Some of my users like to use lots of layouts for their meetings. When they attach the meeting PC to a projector, the screen reverts to 800x600 resolution and they can't get to the layouts that now don't fit on screen. Is there some way to scroll layouts? Otherwise select from a large number?

The antiglare screen has only been available on the high res model of the macbook pro.

  • Help!!! Images are blurry/low-res in InDesign files I sent - re-linking is not working or we're doing it wrong :(

So I am transferring all of my InDesign files over to my boss because I am leaving my job, but all of the photos placed in the layouts I've created show up blurry when he opens the files on his own computer. We've tried relinking the files, even! We may be doing it wrong, so first of all, could I get a detailed step-by-step to relinking files? Secondly, if that doesn't work, what else would you suggest?
Info that may or may not help: I have a PC, he has a Mac, we used Google Drive to share the files, and I've already tried packaging the files.
    Thanks!

Is it now the appearance in ID only or also PDF output? If the output is fine, it may just be the screen display settings. ID by default shows a low res screen copy. You can check on the boss' computer by selecting an image, right click and change the setting...near the bottom of the menu.
Also, in the links panel, are all the images up to date?

  • Mavericks: Screen Sharing Resolution changed to low-res

I just updated my two slave macs (Mac Pro, Mac Mini) to Mavericks (main mac still on 10.8.5), and when I do screen-sharing by connecting to each, suddenly I'm getting each slave mac in a square screen at low-res -- 1280x1024. THere are no other options to return these to full 1920x1080-sized windows.
Some other forums recommended a free app called Display Menu that puts a screen resolution in the upper menu bar, but when I select 1920x1080 as the resolution for the sharing window (which it has always been), I get a black screen in that window and the only fix is to turn off the slave mac manually, and when it comes back on and I reconnect to it, it reconnects with the square 1280x1024 monitor window.
It used to be that I got the 16:9 screen share window and I could scale/resize it by dragging corners but that option is gone.
Anyone know how to get that old 1920x1080 resolution back in my screen-shared windows?
    Kerry

Ok so the solution was to user a different VNC client in Ubuntu. "Vinagre" allows you to view your remote session scaled to any size you like. It will however retain the dimentions of your MacBook screen.
One thing to be aware of is that when authentication your VNC session (entering your username and password) Vinagre only allows you to enter a password of 8 characters max. So if your password is longer then 8 characters you will have to shorten it to user Vinagre... A bit annoying but at least it works.
    Techy notes:
It is actially the VNC server Vino that Vinagre uses that is enforcing the password length limit. So if using an alternative client that uses Vino as it's VNC server this limit will apply for that client also.
Even though you are scaling the client session down VNC sends the host's full resolution so you will still transfer a lot of data over the network.

  • Screen Saver Built in Pictures are Low Res

I just purchased this 30" Cinema Display. Really like it a lot. I wanted to use the Beach or Forest screen saver. All the pictures are low res. Is there a way to get HD picts to replace those for a great looking screen saver. The originals are very grainy. I didn't install the software in the box as I don't believe with the new systems you need to. I am hooking it up to a MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Bennie

The size of the photographs used in the Beach, Forest, Cosmos, etc., slideSavers is 1024*768 and is obviously so on my 23" ACD, let alone a 30".
Interface Lift has some great hi-res wallpapers.
In the past, I've copied the Beach.slideSaver (/System/Library/Screen Savers) to the desktop, right clicked on the copy to "Show Package Contents", burrowed down to "Resources" to find the photos, trashed those jpegs and replaced them with my own. You can rename the slideSaver to *.slideSaver, copy it back to the folder from whence it came (authenticate) and/or to /Library/Screen Savers and you now have hi-res slideSavers of your choice.

  • Yosemite - login screen on low res

    Hello all,
i'm facing strange issue. After update to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro Retina ( Mid 2012 ) login screen appears in low-res.
I've tried changing resolution and several restarts but no luck so far. Anyone had same issue?
    Thanks for any advice.

Also experiencing this on my Late-2013 15" rMBP...it wasn't present during the early OSX 10.10 betas but has been persistent over the last few and now with the full release.
I have done a full, clean install as well to see if something was fubared in the settings but nope. What a really silly issue to have. 10.10 wasn't ready for primetime, these aren't the type of bugs that people should be experiencing.
What I can say though is that for me, this issue is limited to when i'm using an external display. If I use my laptop without anything connected externally it doesn't happen.

  • All of a sudden my icons are big and everything is low res

All of a sudden my icons are big and everything is low res as if it in safe boot mode. I did not safe boot my computer. I have shutdown & restarted and it is the same. Could it be a virus?

First hold the Control key and scroll or swipe down to make sure that your display is not just zoomed in.
If that does not return the display to normal, go to System Preferences > Displays > Display tab and check the Resolution:
If that does not help, reset the PRAM as per > About NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

  • Best way to create a scrolling expandable list of checkboxes

Stupid question time: I want to create a list of checkboxes where there can be more than will fit into the fixed space in the UI so I want it to scroll as necessary. I also need to add and remove items to reflect changes in external factors.
I've tried to use the Radio Buttons item (which seems to be an NSMatrix that contains NSButtonCell objects) but I'm having problems (added items disappear off the top/bottom of the NSMatrix area, they seem to revert to the radio-button even if I set the 'prototype' to be a checkbox, I cannot get it is scroll).
I'm sure that this is a standard thing to have (a scrolling dynamic list of checkboxes) but I'm not sure how to create this. It's almost like the pop-up list in the combobox control but I want it on the screen the whole time.
In Windows I would simply use a CheckedListBox control - what is the equivalent in Cocoa?
    Thanks
    Susan

    For what it's worth...
I kinda sorta got this to work using an NSMatrix instead of an NSTableView. Clicking the checkboxes afterwards only seemed to "select" the checkbox (ie put a focus ring around the checkbox) rather than actually checking or unchecking the checkbox. So you might still need code similar to what you've already done for your table view.
Here's what I did. This was in Leopard with Xcode and IB v. 3.0, but it may be somewhat similar in earlier versions of IB.
    1. Drag a single checkbox into your window.
    2. While your checkbox is selected go to the menubar and select "Layout -> Embed Object In -> Matrix".
    3. The inspector window should change to "Matrix attributes"
    4. Use the "Cells" attribute counters in the inspector window to add more rows (or more columns if needed) to your matrix. This should add more checkboxes to the matrix.
    5. Add rows and/or columns until you get basically the number of checkboxes that you'd like to be able to see in your scrollable area.
    6. Now while your matrix is selected go to the menubar and select "Layout -> Embed Objects In -> Scroll View"
Initially the scroll view will not show a scrollbar (because your scroll view was sized to encompass all of the current checkboxes). But if you click into the scroll view so that the embedded matrix becomes selected then you can use the "Cells" counters in the inspector window again to add some more rows or columns of checkboxes... and the scroll bars of the scroll view will become active.
If you don't know the total number of checkboxes beforehand then you can do something like this in code at runtime:
    [theMatrix addRow];
    [theMatrix sizeToCells];
This assumes that "theMatrix" is an outlet to the matrix. The addRow method will add a row to the end of the matrix but there are other methods that will allow you to add a row at a specific index. The "sizeToCells" seems to be required to get the scroll view to notice that the matrix has changed size and it's scroll bars may need to be adjusted.

  • Is it possible to create a script to produce a high res and low res pdf and jpeg from Indesign at the same time

Hi, I'm just wondering if there is a way to automate a long process I have to do to create assets for my job.
I have a single page InDesign 6 file which I have to output three ways:
A low res pdf without bleed or trims
A high res pdf with bleed and trims
A low res jpeg downsized to 2% of original size.
If anyone knows if this is possible I'd love to hear from you.
    Thanks in advance

Automation requires creating your own IDML script for output. Scroll down on this page to the section on Scripting resources. The text is a bit confusing. It says InDesign CS5 Scripting resources, but then the paragraph for that section says the PDF files are for CS6. I haven't read through these, I just found them by searching for "indesign automation". It does say in part that is can be used for preparing files for printing, so once you figure it out, it should be a single click option to do all three steps.
You can do them now with the menus you have, assuming you also have Acrobat Pro installed. With any document open, choose File > Adobe PDF Presets, and choose either from the prebuilt defaults, or create your own in the Distiller. However, I don't see a way in the Distiller settings to choose whether or not to include bleed and marks, so I'm not really sure how you'd have them on for one and not the other. As far as JPEG output, that can be chosen under Export. You get a choice to set a resolution and JPEG quality level, but not a size, so the output will be the dimensions of the document.

  • Premiere Elements 9 - editing in low-res then rendering in HD

    Hi all,
Just started using Adobe Premiere Elements 9, editing together a 3 minute music video (so not an epic!). Half way throughand having all sorts of problems as the footage is running slowly or not running at all.
Just bought a brand new laptop with i5 core processor, 4 G RAM and 7,200 rpm, so don't think hardware is the problem.
    Question 1.
How can I edit in a low res version and then render in HD (is this called editing by proxy?)? A friend with Premiere Pro said there should be a very simple button that does this. It would seem a basic requirement of any video-editing software. But I can't find how to do it and the only internet search have brought up very confusing and long-winded processes.
    Question 2.
Having trouble rendering. I tried rendering as a WMV and the image was very pixilated even though it looks fine on the editing screen. File size was also huge and computer struggled to render it. Also tried FLV, which didn't work at all.
Would appreciate help as I've put hours into the editing process already.
    Many thanks,
    Christina

    >don't think hardware is the problem.
If you want to open and edit a single photoshop picture file... you are fine
For video (which is, in effect, 30 picture files per second, plus sound) you are not fine at all
Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208?tstart=0 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433?tstart=0 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used this eSata Dock... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

Do you have the latest drivers for the graphics cards? Are you using a custom profile, if so, what SLI setting did you use? (like split screen, or SLI antialiasing).

  • h:messages layout="list"  -- Not rendering as a list

    Hi all,
I'm trying to use <h:messages layout="list"/> in order to display my error messages as a list on the screen, but what I get are my 2 error messages one after the other, no delimiter and on the same line as this:
Please select a template. Please selecte the time.
I didn't see that bug in the JSF bug database, does anyone know if it's taken in care?
    Thanks!
P.S. I am using the latest version of JSF.

I've entered this as a bug.

  • Everything is being marked "Low Res" when they're not

I have a bunch of photos and have used them as desktop pictures, sent them to fm, emailed them, etc. All was well. Then one day my iPhoto marked most all of my pics as f-1006 or low res. When I go into the System Folder to Desktop Appearance, and I click a pic, a question mark shows up in the screen preview window, and instead of the pic immediately going to my desktop, the standard Mac screen remains.
This was not always the case. Pics from my cell phone used to work great-no longer. Pics from dvd's used to work great-they were/are pictures! Pictures that used to import/export used as screensavers, and desktop images no longer work. Or they might work every once in a while???
Anyone have an idea what's going on with my iPhoto and how I might fix it?
    Thanks so much,
    Teri~

Is this the "i" you're seeing?
It shows in a book when the image resolution of the photo is below 180 dpi for the frame it's been placed in on the page. If that's the case what are the pixel dimensions of the photos that give this warning indicatior?
    Or is it this?
This shows on all photos if you put the cursor over the thumbnail. If you click on it the photo will flip up the location/description window for it.
Every photo has it. So which one are you seeing?

  • T400 boots in low res, then changes to high res once windows boots

when i boot windows vista it boots into a low resolution, and makes everything bigger. Once windows boots up the screen flickers and it changes to a higher resolution. how do I make it stay in the higher resolution?

    Intel® Core™2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz__Windows 7 Professional__3GB Memory__160GB, 7200RPM Hard Drive__14.1” WXGA+TFT-CFL__ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470--

This appears to be the solution (at least, it is for me). I can apply my changes to the low-resolution proxy by saving the mesh and then applying that same mesh to the high-resolution image. The large brush sizes (in comparison to the image resolution)  that I am afforded in the low-res version are brought across to the high-res because the changes are not applied as brush strokes, but rather as alterations to an overall mesh. the changes to the mesh are what is transferred when I export and import.
Applying the mesh is pretty slow, and it requires a few tweaks at the high-res level, but it gets me 95% of the way there. I think this is workable.
To recap - here are the steps:
    1) I make a low-resolution version of the image (like 1200px wide)
    2) I make my edits to the image using Liquify
    3) before committing the Liquify changes, I "Save Mesh" in the Liquify tool
    4) I open my high-resolution image
    5) I use liquify, but I do not use any brushes, but in stead load my saved mesh from the low-res
    6) profit.
    thanks for the help folks!
