Scrolling weird in Finder, another issue

Hello all,
In a Finder window, sometimes the scroll bar will disappear when there are files that are further up / to the side than is shown. For example, I have a window with many folders in it, bigger than the screen can handle. (http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa187/adam_0/Picture1.png) I delete all folders but the top and bottom row. (http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa187/adam_0/Picture2.png) Then I move the bottom row up towards the top row, and the scroll bar disappears. (http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa187/adam_0/Picture3.png) This has happened on two computers, so it's not isolated to my computer. Please help!!!
Also, I am having problems with the Discussions here. I can't award "helpful" or "solved" points to people, which is really frustrating. It gives me an error every time. Sorry for posting these both together, but I didn't know where to post questions about the Discussions.

Hi AdamH,
It sounds like some corruption in Finder. Go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then log out and back in again. Or restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

I'll confess that at this point I am feeling so overwhelmed I can't believe it and yet I seem to know more than most of my friends and associates about computers when it's obvious I know so little. Not a great place for a society to be racing to, but ... First, I have looked for the scroll bar in various views on my initial account. It will show up at times but only scrolls an inch or so and then other times--nothing. To be honest, I've never seen a computer act so strange.
I looked at Carolyn's suggestion and thought geez! I want my computer to work--I didn't say I want to work for Apple and figure all this out. Reload this but be careful of this and this and this. I thought go to what HS says and try his solutions out.
I created another account, went into it and naturally I can see no scroll bar because I don't have any pictures. What I was shooting for is some degree of normalcy so I can see the picture files I have. I'm beginning to think it may be easier for me to keep inventing ways to get past the peculiar curves this Mac wants to toss at me! I can't operate under the new account because it doesn't have a printer assigned to it, there's no Microsoft Office program ... and of course I somewhat concluded that the answer is assigning everything in the one account to the other account and that's ... pardon my novice attitude ... like hard! The hardest thing I ever had to do with a Dell is re-install Internet Explorer and I thought that was complicated.
Now that I've gone on and on, what am I missing in concept about creating a new account? How can I check for a scroll bar when it has nothing to scroll .... without signing up for brain surgery 101? Any hope here? I appreciate your help. The dedication you have to understanding malfunctioning computers is indeed impressive.

CMIS Connector - Mac OS 10.9 Finder Mounting Issue

Hi.
I have recently updated my system to MAC OS X Mavericks (10.9) and Adobe Drive to Version 5.0.1. I am using CS6.
I updated from CS5, Drive 3 and Mac OS X 10.6.
The problem is as follows:
When i connect the CMIS volume (an alfresco 3.4 community dam) with Drive 5 the volume is mounted in Mac Finder as "cmis". Instead of my custom volume mount name "MyCustomVolume". I defined the custom name in Drive as well as in Alfresco CMIS-Config. And it worked flawlessly before updating. But i need the volume to be mounted as "MyCustomVolume" and not as "cmis".
The strange thing is: If i run the terminal and have a look "~/Volumes" i can see, that there is a volume "dr-x------@ 1 myusername nogroup 0 20 Nov 15:22 MyCustomVolume" mounted. And no volume "cmis". So where does this "cmis" come from?
Needless to say, that my file linkings e.g. in InDesign documents relate to the old mount name and not to "cmis". Currently every file i open will have broken links.
And there is another issue: The "cmis" volume is "readonly" and not writeable. Using the Finder i am not able to change any of the cmis mount properties.
Actually i am wondering whether it is a Drive or a Mavericks issue.
I already tried this:
- Several Drive reinstallations, Drive Cache/Setting clearings as well as Mac OS Disk Utility permission repairs.
- Deactivated Sophos Antivir
- Uninstalled MacFuse and Tuxera NTFS
The problem is critical for me because my daily work depends on a seemless cmis integration.
So i hope for some help.

UPDATE:
Intermediatly Adobe Drive 5.01.28 worked as it should do - But today i ran into the same issue i had before.
I haven't done anthing cruel to Adobe Drive, but suddenly i have this same strange behaviour like i described in my initial post.
The finder shows "cmis" as volume mount name BUT the Terminal/CLI shows me the correct volume name in the "/Volumes" folder - this is driving me nuts.
I already did a PRAM and SMC reset on my mac. And i deleted Adobe Drive 5 completly and reinstalled it. Same result - same problem.
The Alfresco server is running properly and i already restarted it.
The Errorlog of Adobe Drive shows these errors (repeatingly):

I don't know why Drive is looking for these files and what they are about. (Some of them seem to belong to Mac's TimeMachine, but my TM disabled!)
Need some help! Because i can't work with my server files and the Creative Suite anymore. Every server-based file i am trying to open with an Adobe Application causes an error.

Verizon Customer service actually told me to go find another carrier! Customer Service is GONE

I live in Rock Valley, Iowa which has always been a "questionable" service area for Verizon, but with the newer phones are service has been "acceptable" for the last few years, UNTIL May 2013 when Verizon installed a new tower in Rock Valley. At that point we (and many other customers now in our area) went from "acceptable" but questionable service, to practically NO SERVICE. I have tried all the standard ways to work with Verizon, filing a SERVICE complaint, working with several Techical Service Verizon people, and then the local Verizon Store , Since the new tower was installed we have less than 1 bar of service, and certainly no texting, no internet service (certainly no 3 or 4G) and barely phone calls (certainly not in the house) We have been told,:
1) oh, you live under the "umbrella" it will get better
2) tough luck, you're just in a bad spot,
3) if you go 1/4 mile north, or 1/2mile south, service is fine, (well that doesn't help me where I live)
4) tough! go find another cell phone provider! (seriously?)
We have 8 units on our plan, including flip phones, i-phones, droids, and droid tablets, and none of them can get any type of service now. We run a large business at home, with employee's who need to talk to each other concerning livestock and trucking, and have NO SERVICE for either business or emergencies.
In the last 3 months, several emergencies have happened, and I personally had no service,
1) my mother had a heart attack, and no one was able to reach me (i was at home-thus no service)
2) I had a flat tire 4 1/2 miles from home on the highway, (after calling and calling for help, no calls went through) that blows the 1/4 mile from home Verizon Theory!
3) There was an intruder in the neighbors house, and people tried to call and call to alert me, (no ringing-I was home)
4) There was a recent assult within 1 mile of home, people were trying to reach me, to alert me, and nope, phone never rang
Most of us have Cell Phones for 2 reasons, Business and Emergencies, I have contacted Verizon several times, and politely explained to them the problems, have documented
1) no service areas(not just at home)
2) phone updates of every sort and kind
3) Dropped call areas (not just at home)
4) Have agreed to help in any way to improve the service we are NOT recieving!
Verizon has done NOTHING to work on this problem, Absolutely NOTHING! Considering they are well aware there are problems, and even admit to the problems, you would think they would take a step up and try to at least "attempt" to recognize the issues, and work on them. Considering "life/limb" has been at risk, it would be nice if someone with some authority would recognize this issue, and make an attempt to fix it.
It is Time for Verizon To Step Up and Recognize Problems and work with Customers? Are you willing to take that challenge? It isn't appearing so at this moment.

I just had another issue with cs6 locking up.

I just had another issue with cs6 locking up. This time, I was in cs6 beta working on an image, I went to file/open to open another existing file in photoshop, and when the finder window popped up to select a .jpg to open up, the cursor wouldn't respond to the finder window that was opened up, and I couldn't close it out, and I had to force quite cs6.

If I'm reading this correctly, your last kernel panic (that's what these are called) occured six months ago. Is that correct? It probably does not have anything to do with the number of windows you have open; I suspect it has to do with one of the third party kexts or non-apple hardware. My guess would be something with parallels (is the software up to date?), but if you're only getting panics at 6 month intervals it's really hard to diagnose.
Kernel panics aren't fun, but they aren't the end of the world. make sure you keep regular backups, and if you can figure out how to replicate the panic at a more frequent interval we can figure it out.

When I use "update-request", I need to specify a stylesheet. In that stylesheet, the following lines work before upgrade:

After upgrade, it doesn't work properly. What I see in the database field value is storing only

How can I get my result back?

Weird iMac Leopard Install issue.

Hello All,
Recently Was given an iMac G5 With a 1.8Ghz PowerPC Processor and 2Gb RAM.. It works great, However it has Tiger and I want to Upgrade it to Leopard..
Here's where the Issues start..
I put my DVD In the Drive.. I know the DVD Works, I've used it on Many other Computers without a hitch. it brings up the "Install OS X" Window and When I click it, It tells me to click another button to restart and Boot from the CD..
It then restarts, And I can hear the Superdrive Working away (The Superdrive works Fine BTW) It then shows the Grey "Apple" Screen and the little wheel starts spinning, Super drive still reading fine.. Then the super drive stops reading (You can hear this) The little Wheel goes away..
Then it sits for maybe 20 Seconds and.. The fans being to speed up.. Slowly at first then faster and faster until they are just flooring themselves.. I thought this was normal so I left it for awhile.. 1/2 Hour later and still nothing..
Help me guys, I'm stumped.. I don't usually use macs.. So I have no idea what I'm doing..

It's A copy of a Leopard Disc I had, I had dropped and broken the original But I still have the .DMG (Or .ISO or Whatever) And so I Just make another one when the old one gets too scratched..
It's actually the only one I've ever seen.. It came from a rare Leopard single layer disc.
It's not Pirated, However I cant find another single disc one to try.. My machine won't read DVD+R DL's You see..
Could it be because I burned it on a PC? I am not quite sure how to burn discs on Mac.

I have heard there are ways to remove extra printer drivers or something to make a normal one fit on a Single layer disc.. Does anyone know anything about that?

Finder Icon Issues With Word '08 docx Files

Hi all,
I just picked up and installed a copy of Office 2008 on my brand new MacBook, and I'm already seeing an odd, annoying issue. When I save a docx file in Word '08 that's more than one page long, the preview icon for it comes up weird in Finder: it looks sideways, squat and long like a landscape view, whereas every other kind of file I save (including docx files less than a page long) have normal portrait view preview icons. If I save a file at one page long (which looks normal in Finder) then it goes longer than a page, it immediately converts the Finder icon to landscape view when I save. Even when I go into Word's save preferences and turn off the option to save a picture of the document, it STILL does it.
Any ideas for fixing this, my intrepid friends?

I've also been having this problem. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it's got something to do with the page setup/printing defaults. I've spent hours and hours messing and fiddling with settings (I was bored) but I can't figure out a way to fix/get round this.

Actually the Licensing information for the package is missing hence it is not launching any applications. You need to Reserialize the products using APTEE which you can find it on the Machine where you have created the package. If you dont have the access to that Machine then please download and install Creative Cloud Packager and it will download APTEE in the below mentioned location.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\CCP\utilities
Once downloaded please follow this KB article to use the Tool.

Weird graphics and other issues with internet explorer in all versions.

One of our laptops has an issue with their Internet Explorer. First, whenever the user logs on and starts internet explorer and navigates to any website, the website loads for a bit but then immediately displays a "Page cannot be displayed" error.
Every single time. If we try browsing again/refreshing the page it loads fine. But during regular browsing, we might get that page again.
Another issue that happens is sometimes the graphics logos won't load properly. See screenshot:

And this happens a lot. If this won't happen, the websites will only load with half its formatting missing.
Now we have:
-Thoroughly checked computer for viruses. Several full scans have been done with MalwareBytes with no issues found. Microsoft Security Essentials has been installed, full scan done, no viruses/spyware/adware found.
-We have tried upgrading to IE11. Same issue. Downgraded to IE10. Same issue. Downgraded to IE9, same issue yet again. IE was Reset each time.
We checked if it could be a network issue, but none of the other computers connected to the same switch has issue like that.
Any suggestions/ideas to try?

I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall, then check the result.

Does the 10.5.7 update address command+f finder search issues?
Search has been horrible under 10.5 in that it does not reliably find FOLDERS on network drives, only file names.
Even when I am looking directly at a folder and I search for it will not appear in the command+f window.
Also the stupidity of not allowing a specific search location.
Has this been addressed? I have, at any given time, 3-4 mounted servers.
I do not have a choice now to search a specific hard drive.
10.4.11 gave me the option under "OTHERS" to select a specific place to search.
The only choice I have in 10.5.2 is "SHARED". Which searches all drives when I only want to search one. Nor do I have a choice of searching just one of my two internal drives.
I talked with Chris in apple engineering several months ago, who acknowledged that search problems are a known issue under 10.5 and this was being addressed but have not heard any more. I don't want to download an update unless these broken search issues have been fixed. This is a production machine and I cannot have downtime in the Dept.

I know some stuff got sorted out but I am now having a problem with rectangles (as hitboxes) not showing up within Chrome.

I am running the most up-to-date version of Edge, because I knew about the other Chrome issue since it was affecting a lot of my work.
But I haven't seen anything else to do with it since the update and now I'm getting another issue. Not sure if its the same kind of thing or not.
Here is my composition : Dropbox - Work_fa
Basically on the page with "Meet Jeff" there are two little white semi-circles and the hit box should be in the right button but its actually off set and further right than it should be.
I've looked through the composition and the hitbox is within a symbol (s_cpl_fa_0_guide_page1) so also not sure whether its because of that?

My Ipod nano 4th generation just turned off and I can't restart it. Tried all the troubleshooting tips. Can't find the issue.

My three year old ipod nano 4th generation has been working fine all these years. Suddenly, last week, while it was low on battery (not completely drained), it shut down and I cannot restart it. I have tried all the troubleshooting issues and still did not manage to turn it on. Though. when I press center and menu while connected to my computer, the computer bips has if it recognized that something is trying to connect. Though, it cannot identify it and the iPod remains shut down. I cannot find the issue, perhaps I need a battery replacement?

It's possible. Just take the iPod to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.
