Scrolling within frames in Safari on the iPad

Scrolling in frames, using browser base on-line e-mail, Safari web browser, composing in a text window or box.
I've notice when at my yahoo e-mail account that I can't scroll in a frame like I could on a regular computer. I know there is the Mail app, but I want to use a browser. And I don't have external application permission for all of my on-line e-mail accounts. And as I cut cost at home, pay for e-mail service days are numbered.
Without the ability to scroll, parts of messages are hidden. As well as item list are cut off, as when looking at my "inbox" the message list is truncated. And you can't just simply swipe your finger and bring up those hidden msgs or lines of text.
Even while writing in this box, I cannot scroll to see text as it disappears to the out side of it. Luckily I have the compatible keyboard and the arrow-keys will allow me to see the completed message.
On the side, I think Safari is doing a great job. Maybe on the first visit will a site route me to their mobile page. But Safari can handle most pages. Even on my laptop I still need to use Firefox to allow me to see certain, of all places, US government pages!
Don't think adobe flash is supported though. So some work still needs to be done if this is going to replace my laptop. I really thought these issues should have been address by the time I got this. I just hope these issues are addressed. Otherwise this thing is just a fancy toy for only the lightest of work.
Cheers,
Lincoln

Hey thanks. That works for text boxes for sure. But I think there is still issues in Safari.
Does that maneuver have a name yet? I was just thinking of the rock band Five finger death punch. Maybe it could be called the "two finger death drag
About Yahoo Mail, it just kicked me over to I guess an I-pad version of it's self and is working in much the same ways as when I'm at gmail. The left colume is real big, easy to point at, and list your messages. The right column displays content and can be scrolled up and down.
When I first got this thing, I didn't have a home network. Now that I do, I'l be using it more. I'm just hopping on some smooth sailing.

I also have problems with Facebook on my iPad 2. I don't do a lot with Facebook and generally only post on my feed page. Sometimes hitting return on the keyboard enters the comment, sometimes not. Sometimes the comment will show on my iPad but if I revisit that page I find that the comment has disappeared. So I'd say that Facebook and my iPad are not totally compatible with each other.
I looked into Friendly and was about to purchase this free ap. But before I did I went to the Friendly web page for more info. There I found a page with users comments. One after another users complained about bugs with Friendly. The developers claimed a fix was coming but the user comments complained about the lack of response and support. One of the fixes suggested by the developers was to log out of Friendly then log back in. One user complained that doing this three times in ten minutes was not very helpful. Because of this I decided to avoid Friendly.
I did find a Facebook developed ap but it was for the iPhone. I presume that iPhone aps will work on the iPad but I'll wait until Facebook releases an iPad compatible ap. If there is an ap developed by Facebook for the iPad that I missed please let me know.

  • Movies in mobilme gallery won't play in safari on the ipad

The movies I have put on my MobilMe Gallery won't play in Safari on the iPad. The photo gallery works fine, but the movies gallery does not. I created the movies directly from within Quicktime (Share-> MobilMe gallery). Using Safari on my Mac everything works fine. It's only on the iPad that it fails!
What is the matter here? And how to solve this?

Yes, same thing here. I received an email on my iPad with a direct link to a MobileMe gallery movie page. Click on the link and Safari opens just fine, and shows the first image of movie and the text, but no spinning, never loads, can't play.
I know you're supposed to use the MM Gallery app... but... what about those iPad users who don't have MobileMe, but are just redirected by an email link - they could download it, but wouldn't know that.

  • Will Apple be adding 3D tabs in Safari on the ipad 3? I am not crazy about how it's set up to use right now and would think if they put it on the iPhone they would on the ipad also.

Has anyone heard if Apple will be adding 3D Tabs in Safari on the iPad 3? I am not crazy about the way it is set up right now.

    No.

  • Using Safari on the iPad unsupported mode with R17

I have a customer that just purchased iPad's for their sales force and they are trying to use the "Safari" or "Private Browser" in an unsupported mode. They have turned off the message center, but when they try and login after clicking through the unsupported browser message they receive the following error:
Occam Browser Update Servlet: Uncaught exception: and uncaught exception has occurred while attempting to render the page. Please try again later or contact Customer Care for more information.
I know we have customers and internal sales consultants that have CRM OD working on the iPad with the message center turned off. Has anyone seen this error when attempting to login with the iPad or iPhone?
    Thanks for your help!

Support for CRM On Demand using Safari on the iPad will be available in R19.

  • We are having some problems viewing wide format drawings in safari on the ipad - The images view fine on the computer... Any ideas?

We are having some problems viewing wide format drawings in safari on the ipad - The images view fine on the computer... Any ideas?

No, the site isn't Flash-based; it's a site I've visited on the phone dozens of times. This problem only started occurring a few days ago.
I'm embarrassed to admit that the site is Popsugar.com, a celeb gossip site that I visit whenever I'm bored.

  • How do I save something downloaded in safari to the ipad

I downloaded a operators manual to my ipad using safari. I do not know how to save the manual to my ipad from safari. What I am trying to do is to keep the manual on the ipad for future use without having to download it in safari each time. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am technology challenged.

An owners manual was most likely in PDF format. If so, once it has downloaded and you are viewing it within Safari, you should be able to tap "Open in iBooks" in the top right corner. This will open the iBooks App where the manual will be permanently saved. I have dozens of manuals on my iPad using this method.

  • How do I open a new window in safari on the iPad?

How do I open multiple windows in safari using the new iOS7 on my iPad? It looks different than my iphone5

Try a reset then try Safari ...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Slow www browsing using Safari on the Ipad

    Hi,
After getting my ipad and being very excited with it, I am now wondering just what I want to do with it. Browsing the internet is like sitting down at with a legacy device and trying to visit modern web pages. My windows Atom net-book can run circles around it, and it's over a year old . . .
This is very disappointing. I can only hope Apple takes notice and has a patch solution.
But if I have to hope every web site has to make and app version of their site (e.g., Facebook app), and then have to purchase and install -- no way!
I hope all that is needed is some cleaner iOS. That or apple just should consider putting a intel dual into this device . . .
I've tried looking at some of the other post, and there are some similar issues. Anyway, I'm looking for input and want to know if I got this right . . . that it is indeed slow and there is no fix at this moment?
Let me know and thanks for reading!

PS, this was NOT sent from my ipad . . .

It's rather hard to imagine that about 9,000,000 iPads would have been sold to date if there were problems surfing the Internet with the device. I've had no problems with iPad performance visiting a wide variety of websites.
Perhaps you have some problem in your wireless network or with your ISP which is causing your problem.
Site-specific iPad Apps like Photobucket, CBS News, ABC Player, etc. are generally free and, if you want them, installation is not a problem.
If you are using the iPad forum as a source for positive comments on the iPad you will, of course, be disappointed since, generally, only problems are posted here. The vast majority of happy iPad users probably don't even know this forum exists.
Since you don't give any detail on what web sites you are talking about or exactly what your performance issues are it's hard to comment further.

  • Websites that crash Safari on the iPad

    Hi,
Have just come across a website that causes Safari to bomb out.
Visited www.travelodge.co.uk and when I entered any character in the Location: field, Safari closes down with no error message.
Wondered if others had come across similar situation??
Is there an error log somewhere to see why this happened?

Actually, just tried it a few times and it appears inconsistent. I tried to film the crash with my iPhone, and I cleared cookies & cache, then went straight to the website and it worked fine, showing auto-fill list of locations.
I did it a second time and it crashed. Went back to settings, cleared Cookies only, and tried again, it crashed. Went back cleared cache only, and it worked.
Tried the site a second time, it crashed.

  • Viewing bookmarks within PDF document on the iPad

I created a PDF document using the bookmark feature in Adobe.   When I open the PDF in my email on an iPad using the GOOD browser or Safari, the bookmarks do not display.  Are there any other options besides downloading an app such as Adobe Reader that will enable me to view and utilize the bookmark feature within a PDF document on the iPad?

  • Every time I launch Safari on my iPad there are about 5 or 6 tabs load ed with Wikipedia searches. I am the only one using the iPad so I know it's not me searching for this. Anyone else have this problem and if so how do I turn it off?! Thanks!

Can anyone help? This is getting frustrating!

Have you closed the tabs ? Re-opening Safari will open it with the same tabs that were open on it the last time that you used it.
You can clear Safari's history via Settings > Safari > Clear History (and possibly Clear Cookies And Data), and then close Safari via the iPad's taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
When you re-open it there shouldn't be any open tabs.

  • Does anybody know if the ipad air 1 is using yosemite or something different? I don't know what type of safari i should install because it disappeared from the ipad. Thanks!

Does anybody know if the ipad air 1 is using yosemite or something different? I don't know what type of safari i should install because it disappeared from the ipad. Thanks!

YYosemite is a Mac OS and it doesn't run on an iPad. You cannot delete or install Safari on the iPad. It is on your device somewhere.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
