Scrub Bar and Slider question

I am trying to better understand the edit sliders in QT 7 Pro.
In 6 Pro I would hold the shift key and drag the slider from an IN point to an OUT point of my choosing. This would now be highlighted, or selected. I could then cut or copy that selection. When I try that in QT 7, as soon as I click down on my IN point, everything is selected all the way back to the beginning of the movie. In essence, it is selecting backwards. I also notice that the two (in-out?) markers appear when I click anywhere along the scrub line. I am getting things done but clumsily. I know there must be some handy, easy ways to manage these powerful new features. Tips, please. Thanks.

Use the letter i and o keys to select in and out points. They will be created at the location of the playhead.
Hold down the shift key and use the arrow keys to add (or remove) frames.

Scrub bar and its ability to pause

I'm considering a purchase of Apple Quicktime Pro but I'd like to know if it can perform a specific function that I have in mind while it is embedded into a browser.
You see, I work a for a research center that has an electron microscope. The EM lab creates these fascinating 3D movies of a 360 degree views of microscopic particles. The movies essentially rotate around a target and pictorialize the structure of the particles.
The EM lab would like to take these movies, which are in AVI format, and post them online. However, they would like the user who (who is viewing the movie files from within a browser) to be able to scrub through it and pause, in order to view the particles at different angles.
Essentially, my question is this. Can Quicktime allow a user to scrub through a video, let up on the scrub bar, and have it PAUSE instead of play at that point? This would, in essence, make the scrub bar less of a position to start playing a video file and more of an indication of a vantage point of that particle. Is this clear?

The scrub will reflect whatever the state of playback is at the time. That is, if the movie isn't playing to begin with, the user can scrub to any point and the movie will not automatically start playing. If the movie is playing, then the movie will continue to play after the pointer is dragged to the new location.

Slider or scrub bar per slide

Hi Folks,
Does anyone know how to create a slider or scrub bar per slide. The one that comes with the Captivate 5 skin is a slider for the entire duration of the project. I need one specific to each slide.

There is no standard object in Captivate that will give you a scrub/slider bar for an individual slide that would enable a user to move at will from the first frame of the slide to the last and any point in between.
The default slider on a Captivate playbar is the closest you get out of the box.

Help! scrub-bar and controls missing

Hi, I have a problem. I was playing a track today and i noticed that the bar with the scrub-control is totally missing. This is true for podcasts also, where the bar for adjusting the playback speed and scubbing is gone. Help! how can I get that back?

But quantity is not everything.
Funny, because Windows proponents and users touted the quantity of apps available with that swiss cheese for security OS being "everything" or a big plus, but now say it isn't everything with iOS. Can't have it both ways.
At present there are about SIX blacklist apps in the OFFICIAL Apple Store which I can buy for MONEY but have NO USE AT ALL because of the APIs restrictions.
3rd party apps don't have access to private iPhone APIs for security reasons. Andrioid is following the same path as Windows. Their so called "open" OS is a swiss cheese for security mobile OS.
If this isn't acceptable to you or having an option to block unwanted calls provided by the iPhone's OS is a very important want or need, stick with an Android or Symbian device that includes the option.

Sometimes putting the computer to sleep and waking it up helps. Is there a way to remedy this?

Certificate Widget and Random Question Slides

I am in the process of evaluating Captivate 4. Twice now I have had an issue with using the random question slides with the certificate widget. In both cases I converted a Captivate 3 course in which the random question slides and corollary question pools had worked as they should. In both, I successfully added the certificate widget to the new course (Captivate 4) following the instructions in help.
In the first course, only one question pool would work. The others simply showed up as a blank slide. I was able to fix that by merging all the questions into the one working question pool. Wasn't the way I had wanted to randomize the questions, but it allowed me to publish the course. The certificate widget did work.
In the second course, none of the questions pools are working and the published version of the course skips right past the random questions that had been interspersed after each topic area. One again, this course had worked just fine in Captivate 3 and with Captivate 4, without the certificate widget. I do not wish to combine all the questions into one question pool. As I noted, I published the course without the widget and the questions worked just fine.
This leads me to believe that I am doing (or not doing) something when I include the widget that is causing the problem. I can't imagine what that would be, but the fact that no one else seems to have posted this issue makes me think it is something I'm doing.
I am not using an LMS. I'm publishing to .html file that resides on our LAN.
I hope someone can help!

A number of users (myself included) have encountered issues with the random question slide feature - some of which is due to browser cacheing. If you can spare the time please use the web address I have included below to report this issue to the Adobe Captivate team.

Slider bar and volume control gone! how do I fix this

I am new to mac and i just lost the slider bar and the top most section of the itunes controls. I don't know what happened. I can't get it back. The controls via menu work. Also the red amber and green dots on the corner are also gone!
I tried dragging the itunes app to the trash and reloading it but it was restored the same way as before. Does anyone know what went wrong or how to restore itunes to the proper display?

Weather widget and slide show problems

My site opens on a three column fixed page with header and footer. I have been able to define the area between the nav bar and footer as editable. When I go to incontext and try to make that area editable through incontext it seems fine until I test it. I receive a message that the area is not editable and I can make regions editable through incontext. Only the right most column has a dashed line around it. From that I assume the problem is with the weather widget in column 1 and the slide show in column 2.
All of my other pages are single column and seem to work well with incontext. Any suggestions? Thanks...Morgan

InContext Editing regions cannot contain Flash or JavaScript content, so you should wrap the sections you want to have editable with div tags to separate them from this content. For example:

Where's the scrub bar

First time playin' around with iMovie 6. I cannot seem to bring up the scrub bar for audio (audio wavelength). I go to "view" and check the "show audio wave length" but nothing happens. Is there a button I am missing. Thats all you had to do in iMovie 5 was check that button. Or maybe something has to be turned off first. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thats a good idea. I never thought of that. When I get that serious I usually do the editing in Final Cut. It has a sound program appropiately called "Soundtrack" which is like Garage band with your movie attached. It has over 4000 loops and special sound effects. But I love iMovie too especially for slide shows and video emails. Unfortunately everything in FC is manual... nothing much is automated. I am going to try that suggestion in iMovie to see how it works.
I had made a 30 second clip for email and I coughed at the begining. Thats what I wanted to take out in iMovie but leave the video in tact. In FC it would have just taken a second.

Am I The Only One Who Wants A Decent Scrub Bar?

On both my iPhone and iPad I REALLY hate the inadequate scrub bar. I know I have fat fingers but to try to replay a a few minutes - or fast forward - it's nearly impossible to get even in the vicinity of where I need to get with the current bar.
How about keeping the current scrub bar to show progress, but you should be able to tap on it to get a large scrub wheel for accurate fast forward or rewind. There could be a 1x 2x or 3x indicator in the center each time you tap it to adjust the scrub speed.
I listen to podcasts on my iPhone and iPad every day and this is driving me nuts. Is this one of those insider secrets that's already there and I don't know it?

Scrub Bar Problem

I have an iPhone 4s and have somehow moved my scrub bar down, so when I am watching a video I have recorded it cuts through it. Can anyone help me figure out how to move it back to the top of the screen? Thanks!

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.
If that didn't helped, try restore from backup using iTunes.

Scrub bar help

Hey everyone, so i need to make a scrub bar that works for
the timeline in my .fla. I was trying my hand at it but I barely
code at all and I'm not sure why this wouldn't work for the first
steps:
I made an octagon that just tweens across the screen. I don't
know if the below syntax is correct so don't laugh at me : ). Scrub
is the mc name of the little bar i want dragged. 30 is the amount
of frames in the tween. 322.9 is the width of the bar on top of
which scrub is being dragged. With this code I was hoping the bar
would slide across automatically while the animation played. Please
help!! Also if anyone knows the next step for making the bar
clickable with my mouse and allowing me to drag it that would be
most appreciated!

How to replace the icon in the title bar and minimized window

I am not sure if this is a Swing question. But since nobody answered it in the Java Programming forum, let me place it here:
I would like to set my own icon in the title bar and in the minimized window of my java application, replacing the java coffee cup icon.
I am using:
frame.setIconImage(new ImageIcon("image.gif").getImage())
as was suggested previously in the Java Programming forum at:

This does create the icon in both places. However, it only works when I run the program from JBuilder 2006. It doesn't work if I run the program from the .jar or the .exe file.
How can I make it work for my .jar and .exe file?
