SCUP\SCCM catalog

I'd like to see an SCUP\SCCM catalog available for Java. It would make managing updates a heck of a lot easier.

Users have been looking for a Java catalog for SCUP/SCCM for a long time. It's extremely simple for software companies to make one and it allows updating programs to be leaps and bounds easier. With all the Java exploits in the environment this should have been done long ago. Maybe they don't think it's a top priority but if you search Google for SCUP Java there are literally hundreds of posts where people are looking for a catalog. "Hundreds isn't a large enough number to waste our time on", that's just how many decided to make an account on that forum just to agree with someone or to create a post about it. I guarantee any admins that use SCUP want to be able to load their hardware mfg, Adobe, and Java into SCCM. Only Dell and HP have steped up for hardware and Adobe has their catalog readily available. Come on Java.

  • SCUP/SCCM install of 11.3.300.257 fails

    Hi,
I'm having trouble deploying the new combined 32/64bit version of Flash published through the SCUP cab catalog and SCCM Software Updates deployment. On every one of my machines the update fails with the same error. I have a mixed environment of Win XP 32bit and Win 7 64 bit machines.
I've previously had no trouble at all deploing Flash (and other Adobe updates) updates using the SCUP catalog and SCCM. It is first with 11.3.300.257, where the msi contains binaries for both 32 and 64 bit, that i experiece issues.
The error i get in the WindowsUpdate.log is:
WUAHandler.log (SCCM related log) gives the error:
Installation job encountered some failures: Error = 0x80240022.
UpdatesHandler.log (SCCM related log) gives the error:
    Update execution failed.
The Windows Application Event Log displays nothing in relation to the msi, so no usefull info there.
Anyone else out there with the same issues, or with some guidance?
    Br,
    David

Have, I am having the exact same problem. But 90% of my machines are fine. It is the about 30 machines, about 10% of the total, which fail with this error message. I cant see anything wrong with these machines, or anything in common thats different from the machines that patch ok.
This has occurred with all Flash ActiveX updates for Internet Explorer since I began using SCUP with SCCM.
any other advice that could be of use? Thanks!

  • SCUP XI catalogs missing MUI versions of updates.

    Hi All,
I am looking to update deployed repackaged versions Acrobat and Reader 11.0.0.0 with the .01 and 0.2 updates through an SCCM deployment\SCUP. I have setup all three XI catalogs in SCUP 5.0 and imported all updates, however I cannot see any MUI (Multi Ligul User Interface) updates for version 11, is this normal? I have even opened the catalog cab files and cannot see any reference to MUI versions of the 11.0.01 and 11.0.02 updates.
Any advice on how to get the MUI version of these two dot release updates would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ben

    Hi,
You've found a bug. Here's the rule: If there is no MUI-specific update (which there usually isn't), just apply the generic update. 11.0.01 provided a MUI installer. MUI. 11.0.02 is generic.
Unfortunately, the SCUP catalog isn't aware of the  11.0.01 MUI update. If you install that outside of the SCUP process you can resume updating 11.0.02 with SCUP.
    Get 11.0.01 here: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.01/misc/

  • SCUP 2011 Catalog issue

    Hi,
We are using SCUP 2011 with SCCM in our environment for patching Adobe applications but SCUP catalog is showing patch updates only for 3 Adobe product (Adobe Reader, Acrobat and Flash Player) due to this we are unable to patch other Adobe applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Shockwave and Fireworks. Could you please help to get this resolved so that we can have updates for mentioned applications in SCUP catalog. This is very critical for us.
    Thanks.

  • Updating Flash Player ActiveX / Plugin via SCUP / SCCM

    Hello,
I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers, mostly with Windows 7 x64.
Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin.
    But now my Problem:
After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working)
I figured the Updater works like this:
First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins.
First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled.
But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error.
This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before)
How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?
    Thank you very much!
    Sincerely Martin

Exactly the same issue here (see http://forums.adobe.com/message/6285043#6285043). We have stopped the deployment of that package since nearly every second client is affected by this. It seems that the installation package does uninstall the flash player ocx (both 32-bit and 64-bit), but does not install the new version.
I remember there was a bug at the beginning of this year, where the install package did install the new version, but marked it as "failed" in SCCM software center.. Just a few days later there was a new package in SCUP with the same version number...

  • Sccm Catalog services

Just a simple question, we are planning to deploy software catalog website for our users, we have one primary site and many distribution points, the question is since my users move from location to location so when a user is going to install the application
from which distribution point will the application be downloaded from ? Will it check the IP of the PC and download from that boundary (DP)where the user is currently located. How does it tell the location where the user is ? Or may I get a brief
description how the applications are installed using software catalog website

It doesn't matter how the installation is initiated, either Software Center or the Application Catalog. In both cases the configured boundaries (and groups) will determine were the client will get it's content from.

  • Updates Publisher 2011 + SCCM 2012 - no signing certificate every time (Bug?)

    Hello everybody,
I got a strange problem with the System Center Updates Publisher 2011 which I want to use with SCCM 2012 (SP1).
Some weeks ago I was able to enable the publishing on the update server (SCUP + SCCM + WSUS are the same machine), to create a self signed certificate and to astablish the connection to the WSUS server.
Some weeks later the SCUP seems to "forgot" the certificate and the option "Enable publishing to an update server" is disabled.
If I try to reactivate this option then I can not create a new self signed certificate anymore.
I get always the "... test connection succeeded. However, no signing certificate was detected ..." dialog.
I also can not choose the existing certificate (.pfx) file ("No certificate information available").
    Is this a bug?
Can I deinstall the SCUP completely and create a new certificate again?

Did you open SCUP as administrator? But Yes, you can reinstall SCUP and create another cert or use the existing cert.

  • Managing multiple Adobe product updates.

Is there something similar to Microsoft's WSUS Server, where we can proactively manage Adobe Reader, Acrobat, Flash and Air updates for our various Servers and computers?
Preferably something that alows us to just approve an update, the user clicks on the balloon for the install to occur and it all happens seamlessly in the background.

You can switch to the SCUP/SCCM methodology to update users in your network. There are catalogs released post every release which will enable you to do the same.

Hi, I am new to SCSM. I finished setting up the lab for SCSM 2010. I want to deploy OS/application to a PC. What else do I need to set up.  I cant get help from MS V-Lab. It doesn't open on my PC. It opens a blank page in browser with no error. I have
    .NET 3.5.
My lab Is 3 servers and 1 client in one subnet.
    1- DC1( 2008 R2 AD).
2- APP1 Server 2008R2 (Service Manager Management Server, SQL 2008R2, and Self-Service Portal).

    4- Cilent1 Win7 ultimate (service manager console)
Do I need to install configuration manager, share point, any operation manager? What version?
    Please help.  Thanks.

    Hi,
You need to Install SCCM 2012 server along with agents on Desktops, then you can create application package and install it on your desktops.
You may use Orchestrator to Integrate SCSm with SCCM catalog.

  • 2/20/2014 - Release - Flash Player 12

The next version of Flash Player is available for immediate download.  In today's release we've updated Flash Player with important security updates and bug fixes.
Security update details can be found here: Security Bulletin (APSB14-07)
New Features for Flash Player 12:
Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 Support
Microsoft has released IE 11 on Windows 7 and we plan to officially support this in Flash Player 12.
    Mac .pkg Installation Support
Deploying Flash Player and keeping it up to date is a critical task for system administrators worldwide.  In Flash Player 11.9 we added .pkg support for ease of deployment.  In Flash Player 12, we've incorporated feedback from system administrators to improve the workflow and UI.
Graphics: Buffer Usage flag for Stage3D
We've added a new enum Class called Context3DBufferUsage which defines two constants, STATIC_DRAW (default) and DYNAMIC_DRAW.  These constants specify how buffers will be used in Stage3D. We've also added a new parameter, called "bufferUsage", to the constructors of VertexBuffer and IndexBuffer. This "bufferUsage" parameter uses one of the constants form Context3DBufferUsage, which will allow you to select the appropriate buffer type according to your needs.
Stage3D Creation of Context3D with Profile Array
We've added a new interface to Stage3D.requestContext3DMatchingProfiles(profiles:Vector.<String> ) which will create a Context3D with highest level suitable profile that is in profile array,  based on the current hardware.  A developer can check the newly added property 'profile' to obtain the current profile that was chosen by the Flash Runtime.
    Notable Fixes and Enhancements:
[3680211] [IE11 Win7] Flash now renders correctly on a page with both WebGL and Flash content playing simultaneously
[3685519] [Win8] Context Menus triggered by the software keyboard's Menu key on Windows 8.x now work correctly in Modern mode
[3691916] [Installer] Resolved an issue where SCUP/CUPT catalog configuration was detecting Flash Player updates as available when users had the current version installed
[3684347] [Video] Resolves an issue injected in Flash Player 11.9.900.170 that caused Flash IP-Multicast playback issues on Internet Explorer 9 and 10 on Windows 7
[3689061] [Video] Resolves an issue injected in Flash Player 11.9.900.170 that caused the video buffer to no longer be filled if the buffer was emptied while playing an RTMP stream
    Known Issues:
The following behaviors will be modified in Safari 6.1 and higher in Safe Mode:
AIR Badge Installs - AIR Badge Installer will not launch an installer when running Safari 7 in Safe Mode.  Users will instead see a dialog with a link to more details and workarounds on an Adobe website.
Adobe Connect Plug-In Install - The Connect Plug-In Express Install will no longer work on Safari 7 in Safe Mode.  Users will instead see a dialog with a link to more details on an Adobe website.
Flash Player Global Settings - When a users launches the Global Settings menu from the Flash Player context menu on Safari 7 in Safe Mode, the user will be taken to the classic SWF-based preferences menu on an Adobe website, instead of the native Flash Player settings UI in the MacOS Control Panel.
LocalConnection - When a LocalConnection is constructed from a SWF hosted in Safe Mode, it may only establish a connection with other SWFs also hosted in Safe Mode.  If a LocalConnection is constructed from a tab with Safe Mode disabled, it will not be able to communicate with a SWF in a Safe Mode tab.
For complete information please see our release notes.
Current Flash Player desktop users that have enrolled in the "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" update option will receive this release automatically and silently within 24 hours.  Users that have selected the "Notify me to install updates" update option will receive an update notification dialog within 7 days from today (please note that Windows users will need to restart their system to receive the notification dialog.)
If you would like to install the update immediately, please use one of the links below:
Flash Player 12 desktop for Windows XP, Vista and 7 and Internet Explorer: 12.0.0.70
Flash Player 12 desktop for Windows XP, Vista and 7 and Other Browsers: 12.0.0.70

Please note that both Flash Player for Google Chrome and Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 8 are updated using different mechanisms.  Flash Player for Google Chrome updates will occur during regular Chrome updates.  Flash Player updates for Internet Explorer on Windows 8 will be provided by Microsoft though the Windows automatic update feature.
Flash Player 12 desktop for Mac: 12.0.0.70
Flash Player 11.2 desktop for Linux: 11.2.202.341
On July 9th, 2013 we changed the version of our "extended support release" from Flash Player 10.3 to Flash Player 11.7 for Mac and Windows. To continue to stay current with all available security updates you will need to install the 11.7 extended support release or update to the most recent available release (11.9, etc.). • SCUP catalogs for use with SCCM

    Hi!
I was wondering if there are any other available SCUP catalogs that are not listed here
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/systemcenter/cm/bb892875.aspx
Like for example Java, Adobe Reader, Flash? Or do I need to publish my own updates? What is the best way to go about patching for example java on servers?

IMO you should chase SUN, Adobe, etc and get them to create the catalog themselves! It is ridicules that the catalog don’t already exist!
So you need to complain to them otherwise they will never do it! If you know complain about it then why should they do it?
    http://www.enhansoft.com/
Well, if you register (At Adobes site) for distributing Adobes software, they will send you a link, not only to the software, but also to the catalog for use with SCUP.
    Eg:
    http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/AdobeFlashPlayerCatalog_SCUP.cab
How to do it? Look here:

  • Proper WSUS+SCUP on SCCM 2012 SP1 with SQL 2012

Been pulling my hair out a new build.
    System:
    Windows 2012
    SQL 2012 SP1
    WSUS 4.0
    SCUP 2011
WSUS itself will synch if I set source= Microsoft Update.
SCCM SUP will synch with if I set source= Microsoft update.
SCUP will not connect to "update server" in this config.
SCUP will not connect if I check connect to local update server.  Nor will it when i try to connect to itself as a remote (ie local host or fqdn in Update server screen)
Now whats weird is if I throw a proxy on my spare machine and aim WSUS and SCUP to use it try SUP to FQDNof SCCM host:8530....I can connect
The problem is with the proxy in play I cannot download Dell catalogs as it used FTP not HTTP (Adobe will download though)
Every so often just for fun it will throw "request for principal permission failed.
Anyone that has this working can you please tell me what you have on each of the SUp. WSUS and SCUP screens

Try running SCUP as administrator. This is usually necessary when SCUP is installed on the ConfigMgr/WSUS server and UAC is enabled. heres a guide that may help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyEGWSFWyy0 using Group Policy is the easiest wat to deploy
