SCVMM 2012 R2 Error 26571

SCVMM 2012 R2 show me the following:
Error (26571)
Cannot refresh the Windows file server storage provider (IP) because the storage provider has atleast one file server that has not been successfully created yet.

It's easier for us to help once we know the following:
1)what have you done so far
2)what are you trying to do?
Have you deployed a scale-out file server cluster with VMM? How many nodes is it in the cluster?
Or have you simply added a single Windows File Server to your VMM fabric? Can you take a look at the provider in VMm and see if there are any more details around the problem?

  • Unable to install SCVMM 2012 - MSI error 1638

    Hi Folks,
I am getting an installation error whilst trying to install the new version of SCVMM 2012.  I had an earlier version (2010 I think) install which I removed via Programs and Features (also removed database, share and program directories).
When I try and install the new version the log file shows
    Note: 1: 1729
Product: Microsoft Web Deploy 3.5 -- Configuration failed.
Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Microsoft Web Deploy 3.5. Product Version: 3.1237.1762. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Reconfiguration success or error status: 1638.
I assume that there are probably some left over registry settings or something, does anyone know how I can clean out the old system properly or fix the issue?
    Regards
    Andy

Manually uninstall the "Microsoft Web Deploy 3.5" first from the "Programs and Features" works for me.

  • SCVMM 2012 V2V Error (2901)

i'm actualy migration av ESX 5.1 server to HyperV 2012 using vmm2012.
The Hyper-v Host is connect to iSCSI Qnap HD (the destination LUN)
the VMWARE Host is connect to the same NAS on a different lun for sure.
    I get this error
    Error (2901)
The operation did not complete successfully because of a parameter or call sequence that is not valid.
    The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057)
    Recommended Action
Ensure that the parameters are valid, and then try the operation again.
Please help.  If I can make this work I will migrate 6 other host to Hyper-V.
    Michel Monette

Hi Michel , the best solution to you is to talk to vmware you need the Vcenter without it , you have another solution:
    1. if the VM (guest) running on you ESX 5.1 are ms windows you can use the P2v menu at VMM2012 to migrate your vm (guestt) from VMware to Hyperv 2012.

  • Error in connecting App Controller to SCVMM 2012 R2

    Hello All,
I have recently installed App Controller 2012 R2 on a new VM. We are already using SCVMM 2012 R2 with Update Rollup 4.
I'm logged-in on the App Controller website with the service account of App Controller/SCVMM.
Now when I'm trying to connect App Controller to SCVMM server, it gives the following error:
    "Category: Critical
Description: Connection attempt to the target system failed.
    Details: Category: Critical
    Message: 553–RegistryInvalidValue
Description: The type or name syntax of the registry key value IndigoTcpPort under Software\Microsoft\Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager Administrator Console\Settings is incorrect."
I'm correctly entering the complete FQDN of my VMM management server, and the default port: 8100.
    Need help please.
    Thank you.
    Regards
    Hasan Bin Hasib

    Hi Hasan,
I haven't seen this issue before, but the following post provides information on checking the registry value:
    https://wmoore.wordpress.com/2014/04/11/appcontroller-2012-r2-vmm-registration-error/
The usual caveats about editing the registry apply, including make a backup first.

  • SCVMM 2012 R2 RU3 - Live storage migration failing with error 12711 if cluster resource name is not in form of "SCVMM vmname "

At the end of live storage migration in SCVMM 2012 R2 RU3 getting error:
    Error (12711)
VMM cannot complete the WMI operation on the server (hypervhost1.domain.local) because of an error: [MSCluster_Resource.Name="SCVMM test-vm"] The cluster resource could not be found.
The cluster resource could not be found (0x138F)
    Recommended Action
Resolve the issue and then try the operation again.
Storage migration actually succeeds and after Repair/Ignore and Refresh, the VM shows up ok in VMM, with the VHD in new location.
If VM is offline, storage migration always succeeds. Live (non-storage) migration always succeeds.
I noticed in the error message that it searches for cluster resource name "SCVMM test-vm" and for some VMs I've got different cluster resource names.
Like for this VM cluster resource names are:
    Virtual Machine test-vm
    Virtual Machine Configuration test-vm
Furthermore, those resource names are showing up correctly in [VirtualManagerDB].[dbo].[tbl_WLC_VMInstance] table, columns VMResource and VMConfigResource.
Anyone knows why SCVMM keeps searching for "SCVMM test-vm" and how to fix this without recreating cluster resources?

Ok, you have the same problem and same configuration that this post:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/853c021f-dd0a-4d88-a7c1-72bb8d4d0591/hyperv-cluster-live-migration-does-not-work-anymore-after-ur5-installation?forum=virtualmachingmgrhyperv#b5ae914f-7b52-4cea-86ef-a64ce4b32bb0
This problem occurs will old and new vm?

  • SCVMM 2012 SP1 Beta Installation Errors

    Hi All,
Pulling my hair out trying to get SCVMM 2012 SP1 Beta to install on a Windows 2012 machine. The machine was a new installation and had IIS installed, Hyper-V Role, Failover Clustering, SQL Server 2012, AD (it is a domain controller).

  • Cannot Install SCVMM 2012 - Hardware Management Error (WinRM)

    Hello All,
I am trying to install SCVMM 2012 on Server 2008 R2, However, when installing, I met the following error:
I tried using the command "winrm qc" but "Access is Denied" error is shown.
My account is a domain user which has been given local administrator privilege.
    Any help is appreciated

    Brian,
Why we can't run the SCVMM installation using Local administrator account ?
From the Tech net : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg610656.aspx
To start the Virtual Machine Manager Setup Wizard, on your installation media, right-click
setup.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
For the WinRM errors , isn't this something to do with UAC , Can you use an elevated command prompt and run  "winrm qc" if you still get the access denied error , please check that administrator account has a non blank password
WinRM needs to be fixed prior to go for VMM installation

    Hi Guillaume Pincon,
Please first update both server to latest update and turn off the Windows firewall for narrow down this issue then try build the cluster again, one of the cluster create condition is all the servers should have the same software updates (patches) and service
packs. If all above steps not work please post the second validation error information.

  • Errors Performing V2V Conversions from ESX 5.5 to Hyper-V 2012 R2 using SCVMM 2012 R2

I've successfully added my vSphere server and 2 ESXi 5.5 hosts to my SCVMM 2012 R2 server.
    I have also added my 2 Hyper-V 2012 R2 hosts as well.
When I attempt to do a V2V conversion of a VM from 1 of my ESX hosts to Hyper-V, I receive - "Error (2901) The operation did not complete successfully because of a parameter or call sequence that is not valid. The parameter is incorrect."
When I go into the details of the job in VMM it shows "1.4 Convert VMDK to virtual hard disk - Failed" and "1.4.1 Deploy file (using HTTP) - Failed"
Any help resolving this would be appreciated.
Also, I can do V2V conversions using the same ESX and Hyper-V hosts without any issues using Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter 2.0, but my manager wants me to use VMM.
    Thanks!

Quite honestly, building fresh on the platform and migrating the apps / services is always the best way to go
PlateSpin was the last product I knew that had a Linux conversion utility.   Even found this:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/enterprise_admin/archive/2010/04/26/hyper-v-linux-p2v-with-platespin.aspx
No idea the current status of PlateSpin.  They were the gold standard back in 2008.
But honestly, it can be painful.  It all depends on the hardware now.
With Hyper-V the end boot device is IDE - so if the machine now runs on SCSI, the boot loader pointers need to be modified (if you can find a tool to bring the disk forward).
Now, that said.  Hyper-V can convert a physical disk to VHD.  That is a stealth feature that has been there from the beginning.  I can't recall if it is block by block, or if the file system must be known for the copy to succeed.
You mount the disk on the Hyper-V Server and create a new VHD from a physical disk.
The biggest issue with the conversion utilities is that Windows does not know the Linux file systems.  So you need some Linux tool to do it.
I know that VMware had a converter that handled Linux - but again, you have to manually fixup the hardware in the boot menu.

  • Unable to reinstall SCVMM 2012 R2 during database migration - access denied to VMMDKM container

I'm trying to migrate my SCVMM 2012 R2 DB to a new SQL 2012 server. As per TechNet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn469626.aspx,
I uninstalled VMM, which went without a problem. During the reinstall, setup fails with "Unable to create or access the Active Directory container CN=VMMDKM,CN=System,DC=feroscare,DC=local. Access is denied. Specify the distinguished name
for the container and verify that you have GenericRead|CreateChild|WriteProperty rights on the container." - as is shown in the setup log below.
I'm trying to use the same account as the service account and to connect to the database. I'm logged into the VMM server as that user account (and running setup as that account). I have verified that the account has full control over the VMMDKM container
and all descendant objects. I've also added these permissions for the VMM server's computer account, although I'm not sure that's necessary.
VMM server is running Win 2012 R2, SQL server is 2012 running on Win 2012 R2. Domain controller is running 2008 R2 with AD at the 2003 functional level.
Please can anyone please advise what to do next to troubleshoot this?

    3 Steps are neccessary:
    1. Make sure the Windows Firewall Service on the SQL Server is running and set to automatic
    2. Add the SQL EXE as a Program Exception to the Firewall on the SQL Server:
To add a program exception to the firewall using the Windows Firewall item in Control Panel.
    - On the Exceptions tab of the Windows Firewall item in Control Panel, click
    Add a program.
    - Browse to the location of the instance of SQL Server that you want to allow through the firewall, for example
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.<instance_name>\MSSQL\Binn, select
    sqlservr.exe, and then click Open
    - Click OK.
    From http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc646023.aspx
    3. The last step neccessary, on the SQL Server, is to set File and Printer Sharing "on". When this is off, the following error occurs: "Network Path was not found"
