SCVMM Service Fails to start after SCOM Restore (with possible fix)

Hi,
Found an issue today that SCVMM 2012 SP1 Service (with rollup's) would not start. Only think I was told was that recently the SCOM Database had been dropped and re-created. We did have SCVMM connected to SCOM.
I got some errors like this on the SCVMM Server
Log Name:      VM Manager
Source:        Virtual Machine Manager
Date:          12/27/2013 12:45:29 PM
Event ID:      19999
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      SCVMM01.domain.local
Description:
Virtual Machine Manager (vmmservice:3036) has encountered an error and needed to exit the process. Windows generated an error report with the following parameters:
Event:VMM20
P1(appName):vmmservice
P2(appVersion):3.1.6032.0
P3(assemblyName):E.MomDal.MOMFacadeFactory
P4(assemblyVer):3.1.6011.0
P5(methodName):M.V.E.M.FacadeFactory.Create[T]
P6(exceptionType):System.NullReferenceException
P7(callstackHash):42ec
Any Ideas?

I think I found the issue.
I found that because SCVMM had been tied into SCOM, it failed to start if SCOM was running with a fresh database and didn't know about SCVMM.
I got around this by
* Turning off both SCOM servers in our environment
* Starting the SCVMM Service
* Disabling the connection from SCVMM to SCOM (Remove-SCOpsMgrConnection -force in VMM Powershell)
Not sure if this is the correct way to resolve this issue but it seemed to.
Should this have been solved another way?

We had performed a database restore from the backup which was taken before the system rebuilt. The SAP failed to bring up as the dispatcher stopped due to the work processes died. After the database restore, we had run the SAP Tools for MSSQL Server but still did not manage to bring up the system. Please find below the logs for the developer trace and the dev_w0.

    Hi Guenther,
I've managed to bring up the SAP now after changing some parameters
in the instance profile that are pointing to D:\. It's now up and
running, but the dispatcher is in yellow colour. The status
is "Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec,
J2EE status info unavailable". I did not select Java during the
    installation. Only ABAP was selected.
I am able to login to the R/3 system now. I notice that there are some
parameters in the instance profile are related to the Java like
rdisp/j2ee_start, login/accept_sso2_ticket and etc. Is it possible that
database backup that I used to restore was from a ABAP + JAVA system?
Please see below for the dev_disp

  • SAP failed to start after database restored to a new machine

    Hi,
We have a SAp BW 3.5 running on a SQL 2000, recently our server is degraded and become unstable to host our BW server.
So we build another box with the same OS and DB version and patches, ran sapinst from the SAP DVD, upgraded the kernel to the same level as our current setup.
SAP started Ok with the kernel upgraded, however when we restored the backup to it, if fails.
I have attached the developer trace log, and hope someone can give us some help on diagnosing the issues

  • HT203175 How does one fix the  problemd.... "application itunes helper.exe - mobile me service failed to start becasue missing  MSVCR80.dll" ?  This started after the last "update" of itunes

With a recent update of itunes, ( a couple weeks ago), when plugging in my iphone, itunes did not automatically launch...and when manually selecting itune to open I recieve the statement ...
"application itunes helper.exe - mobile me service failed to start becasue missing  MSVCR80.dll" ?
I have gone to the itunes site and reloaded itunes....and did not fix the problem. ....help

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Sync problem on iPhone4 IOS5 and iTunes 10.5: Sync service failed to start

After painful upgrade to IOS 5.0 on my iPone 4 which suffer from er 3014 unt I do full restore in other computer. Now two new problems cropped up again:
    A.
When I sync IPhone with iTunes, the sync process started and freeze at "waing f sync service to start" and for 5 minutes or so, it end up with a dialog stated that the iPhone could not be synced because sync service failed to start
To remedy, I have to click t start Sync again, and thios time, it will be completed.
To solve tjhis, I have done the following, and the probelm still persist:
    a. Reinstal,l to repair iTunes
    b. Delete the Lockup folder
    c. Reset sync history
    d. reboot iPhone
All cannot solve the problem. Help please, how to solve this problem?
Also, when I backup my iPhone, it freeze at "Backing up iPhone" fr about 10-15 minutes, then start backup, until nearly finished, then it restart backup process again by itself, and again, freezing at "Backing up iPhone" for another 5 minutes, then it start backup and complete. I check the backup time in Preferences, it's correct.
To solve this, I delete the backup, and start new backup, the process went OK. But when I start backup again, the above symptom (backing up, and restart backup again to complete) persist
I have quite a rough experiences with iTunes-iPhone-iPad sync and backup all the times. Can the sync and backup process mad better and real trouble free Apple?
Help and suggestion please. I sync iPhone and iPad2 with WIndow XP PC. iPad2 do not have problem. The problem is with iPhone4 IOS 5 32 GB (less than 2 GB free space on iPhone remains)

I have very similar problems with my brand new iPhone and iTunes.  iTunes is virtually unusable even after multiple installs, uniinstalls, and reinstalls. Sync fails silently. Drop-down menus won't stay visible long enough to click any options.   Phone-support blames it on the fact that I use Windows XP however the iTunes page says right there: "iTunes 10.5 for Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7".  The only program I have problems with is iTunes.
He said I have to revert to iOS 4 but he also said he thought that was impossible.  What does the OS on my phone have to do with the behavior of iTunes running on my computer?  iTunes crashed and had failures both before and after I updated to iOS 5.  Typical bad tech support just like every other company.  I thought Apple was different. Apple really stepped in it this time and it stinks.  I've seen a huge number of new problem reports here and elsewhere.

  • Error during iTunes 10 installation - iPod Service failed to start

    Hi Everyone,
I am getting this error during installation of iTunes 10(Windows XP).
+*"Service (iPod Service)failed to start.Verify that you have sufficient priveleges to start system services."*+
*Can any of you please help?* I ignored it first and continued with the installation. Then tried to update iphone to iOS 4.1 which crashed. I had to go to Apple store to get my iphone restored. I am having trouble installing itunes and cannot restore data from backup.
I tried uninstalling itunes and deleted all itunes data as suggested by the guy at the Apple store. Still not working. Will appreciate if someone can help resolve this error. Thanks.

I just got off the phone with Apple tech support. The problem with that iPod Service is a problem with XP Service Pack 3, but can be fixed this way:
    1. Right click on "My Computer", select "Properties"
    2. Click on the Advanced tab.
    3. in the Startup and Recovery section, click the Settings button.
    4. Click the Edit byutton to edit your boot.ini file in notepad.
    5. Look for "/noexecute=" in the file and change the word after the equals to "optin" (sorry - I don't remember what the original setting was anymore).
    6. Save the file, close notepad, click the OK button on Startup and Recovery window, then reboot.
The warning message about the iPod Service should stop. Also, this helps with iPhones that are not recognized by Windows or iTunes after an install fails.

  • SRV2008R2 SP1: Software Protection Service failed to start. RDP not working

    Hi folks,
I'm currently working on an issue on a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Hyper-V Host where RDP from one moment tio the other does not work anymore.
After an investigation I found that the Software Protection Service can't be started. The following events are recorded every few minutes:
Event ID: 1001 - The Software Protection service failed to start. 0x80070002. 6.1.7601.17514
Event ID: 7023 - The Software Protection service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
I searched and found a lot of possible solutions which are shortly listed below:
I have confirmed that the sppsvc.exe file exists and has the proper permissions. Also replaced the file with the same file from another 2008R2 server
Checked the spldr start value via HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\spldr. This is 0 which should be fine.
Checked the sppsvc paths and settings via HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sppsvc. All are correct.
    SFC /Scannow + CHKDSK /r
System restore is (off course) not available
Tried to reactivate the server by recording a different product key. Did not work.
Removed the last batch of Windows Updates that were pushed towards the host. We believed it was caused by this but since you don't always need a host but only the VM's hosted on it it was a while ago since we logged in.
Local firewall enabled and disabled. Also
Netstat does not show any listening ports for RDP (3389)
Changed the port to 3390 but this port is not visible as well
Also RDP from the affected machine to localhost does not work
Since I can't find any more options in fixing this issue I'm wondering if someone else has some ideas which I can try. Otherwise a reinstall needs to be done.
    Hope to hear from you

    Hi,
Based on your description, I noticed that you have tried lots of ways to solve this issue. On current situation,
would you please let me confirm more details?
Type services.msc in RUN to open Services. Then navigate to Software Protection service. If start it manually, what error message will get?
I’m not sure if RDP issue was caused by the Software Protection service. So, would you please let me know the complete error message when RDP didn’t work? Meanwhile, please
open Event Viewer and follow the path: Applications and Services Logs-> Microsoft-> Windows-> TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager and TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager. Please check if can find more clues. Those may help us to go further analyze
    RDP issue.
    Please
perform a clean boot and check if this issue still exists.
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start which eventually leads to windows error 193 which never goes away no matter what I do  and the dreaded

Mid way through download of I-Tunes after clearing every Apple program from my computer I get "Apple Mobile Device Service" failed to start message.  Eventually leading to Windows error 193 (error 7).  How do I get Apple Mobile Device Service to start so I do not get error messages and failure of I-Tunes to install?

If you have a 64-bit machine, then try the "for older video cards" version...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

Please help. My ipod classic could not be recognised by itunes when I connect my ipod to PC. Previously it has been recognised before I updated. This was a while ago now and so I removed all apple files and re installed the latest itunes but am having the same problem.
When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

Some anti-virus programs (e.g., McAfee) have this rule that can be invoked under the "maximum protection" settings: PREVENT PROGRAMS REGISTERING AS A SERVICE. If that rule is set to BLOCK, then any attempt to install or upgrade iTunes will fail with an "iPod service failed to start" message.
If you are getting this problem with iTunes, check to see if your anti-virus has this setting and unset it, at least for as long as the iTunes install requires. Exactly how to find the rule and turn it on and off will vary, depending upon your anti-malware software. However, if your anti-virus or anti-malware software produces a log of its activities, examining the log may help you find the problem.
For example, here's the log entry for McAfee:
9/23/2009 3:18:45 PM Blocked by Access Protection rule NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\iPod Service Common Maximum Protection:Prevent programs registering as a service Action blocked : Create
Note that the log says "Common Maximum Protection: Prevent programs registering as a service". The "Common Maximum Protection" is the location of the rule, "Prevent programs registering as a service" is the rule. I used that information to track down the location in the McAfee VirusScan Console where I could turn the rule off.
After I made the change, iTunes installed without complaint.

  • Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services????

I recently got an iPhone 5s and had to download the new itunes which I had been putting off for ages, otherwise it wouldn't sync. It wouldn't let me download and instead said 'service mobile device service' failed to start. I then tried to uninstall (as recommended by apple) and re install but the same error came up. If i click ignore, it finishes downloading but refuses to open, instead coming up with 'error 7 windows error 193'. Ive tried everything and this is really frustrating, help would be much appreciated

OK Dave, i just found one solution that worked for me.  However, I find that solutions appearing on discussion threads often are very OS and machine specific, so I normally try a variety of suggestions.  After awhile one suggestion normally works.  So try this one, remembering I have a Dell PC with Win 7 x 64 which may not fit your situation.
Go to https://discussions.apple.com/message/24606166#24606166 where you will find a solution from touringtest2.  The soulition requires an easy uninstall of Apple software items.  I followed the steps outlined exactly and have successfully installed the most recent iTunes software.  Hope this works for you and a few others too.  Apple support sure doesn't make it easy for interested users which is why I appreciate support communities like this.  Thank you touringtest2 wherever you are.  Best - RonS42

  • Service "Bonjour Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

    Greetings,
Having a little problem installing Itunes 12. Upon trying to install the program, i'm confronted with this error: "Service "Bonjour Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". Nothing I've done seems to be able to get the program to be installed. It asks if i want to retry or cancel. Clicking Retry only prompts me again with the same error message. After i hit cancel the entire installation rolls back.
I'm currently logged in as administrator ( I don't have any other accounts on this computer), I've tried uninstalling all the components relating to apple along with its folders and restarting+RT clicking>Run as Administrator. It still refuses to install. Very frustrating. Any ideas?

Sorry if double posting is a no-no here, but I forgot to add that I've already tried disabling Spyware Doctor.

  • ITunes 9.0 install problem: iPod service fails to start, installer quits

    Hi,
I tried to upgrade my iTunes from 8.XXX(I think it was latest 8) to 9.0 but run into this problem where the installer tries to start the iPod service and fails. The installer can not continue any more and it has to be rolled back. I uinstalled 8.xx and tried again but same result. I also tried the suggestion in another thread about stopping the AppleMobileDevice service and removing the folder but it did not help. This is the error message:
"Product: iTunes -- Error 1920. Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
I am logged in as the admin so I do have sufficient privileges.
Is any one having the same problem? How do I make it work? I am using Win XP-Pro SP3 32bit.
    Thanks

I also unistalled the itunesbabd quicktime and now I can't get it to download. It keeps sticking. I am concerned that my library is gone. I have no way of backing my files, laptop.
I was finally able to make it work. I did the following steps:
    1. Delete/unistall every thing related to Apple/iTunes
    2. Delete itunes folder if its still there.
    3. open MSCONFIG->General->check off 'Load Startup Items'->click 'ok'
    4. Reboot
    5. Install iTunes
    6. You can turn on Load Startup Items after iTunes installs.
Hope this help. Thanks for all the help. It sure was annoying!!!!

  • IPod Service Failing to Start and Priveleges

    Before
When iTunes 6.whatever was out, my iPod did not work at all, but I continued using iTunes for music.
    iTunes 7
I plug my iPod in and got the common message "iPod is corrupted. Press restore to restore it", etc. It never works.
    Why it doesn't work
It brings the message "Servie 'iPod Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privledges to start system services"
Any help? How do I get these 'priveleges'?
    ?   Windows XP

I had been experiencing this error for a long time since iTunes 7 released. I tried different ways to resolve it. Untill today, I found a possible resolution and sucsessfully install iTunes 7.3.1.3. I think that might be helpful.
First, remove all previrous itunes and install the lates t release. You will stuck when trying to start iPod service. Open c:\program files\iPod\bin. You will see iPodService. Double click it. If you got an error about a .dll file (mine is setupapi.dll), remember it and you can continue....
2nd, put xp disk in dvd/cd-rom. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32 and locate the .dll file and rename it. This moment, your cd is running trying to rebuild the dll file just renamed.
3rd, when cd-rom stop running. Retry to start service again. Good luck, I hope you can resolve it.
I checked some microsoft KB for this error. This might happen when xp system been customized or dll file corrupted.

  • Please Help - "iPod service failed to start...."

I have an iPod mini. I have Windows XP. I needed to upgrade my iTunes to get a song I really wanted. And this is what happened...
-It was 'registering iPod service and a window pops up and says "Could not start service"
    -I hit "OK"
-After a minute or two, a window pops up and says 'iPod service failed to start. Verify that you have sufficiant privileges to start system services'
    What do I Do?
    iPod Mini   Windows XP

it then said "Could not update environment variable 'PATH'. Verify that you have sufficient privilages to modify environment variables."
that's fairly exotic on a 7.0.x install. (for some reason there have been all manner of kinky error messages showing up for folks over the last couple of days. i'm having to say "exotic" a lot.)
okay, let's try working through the general troubleshooting advice from the following document:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows
... but if no joy there, let's get an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • "iPod Service Failed to Start" message when upgrading iTunes

When upgrading iTunes from Version 7 to the newest version, I got an error message stating "Service, 'iPod Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services." So I canceled the download and rolled back to Version 7 again. I did notice that now I'm getting an error message when I start up Version 7, stating that it could not start the iPod service. I just bought an ipod Classic and cannot use it without the latest version of iTunes. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
