SCXI-1112 aquires 1Hz other SCXI and PXI devices OK

SCXI-1112 aquires slow, < 1Hz. I have an SCXI-1160, PXI-6602 and PXI-6052E in the same Chassis and they aquire > 100 Hz.

Nardelli,
Could you provide some additional details concerning your setup? The SCXI-1112 has a maximum sampling rate of 333 kS/s. Thus, most likely, the program that is controlling the hardware is determining the sampling rate. Which development environment are you using? What type of programming structure are you implementing with regards to the SCXI-1112? Single-point acquisition (software timed)? Buffered acquisition (hardware timed)?

  • SCXI 1112 and 1302 doesn't run at the same time

    Hi,
I have SCXI 1112 thermocouple input module,  SCXI 1180 feedthrough panel , and a SCXI 1302 terminal block connected SCXI 1000 chassis with SCXI 1349 adapter. I am trying to measure voltage by using SCXI 1180&1302, and temperature by 1112 module at the same time. When  chassis is on SCXI 1112 runs without a problem; however, voltage reading coming through SCXI 1349 makes no sense (plus I can't run them at the same time, LAbview gives an error). While the chassis' power is off, it is the other way around, SCXI 1349 runs smoothly.
In addition to that, a radiometer, connected to a power supply, is wired to SCXI 1302 terminal block. When power supply is on, SCXI 1112 module's temperature reading is 4 times higher than actual value. In other words, power supply effects the readings.
Could you please give me some advice to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Azra

One piece of the puzzle you left out is the DAQ card being used in the host computer.
Without looking at some specifics on the SCXI cards/connectors you are using, I will comment you must be careful when you are using an 1180 feedthrough module.  Keep in mind, the SCXI chassis is Signal Conditioning -- it's nothing without the DAQ.
I would recommend you back up a few steps, simplify the setup and test each input channel from MAX -- making sure you aren't overlapping channels between the 1180 to the DAQ and the SCXI chassis.  Remember, most data from the SCXI chassis comes in on a single channel of the DAQ through the 1349.
    Hope this might help.

  • I am trying to configure my SCXI-1540 card for excitation voltage and frequency using MAX - but it is not giving me that option when I click on the card and then properties, am I looking in the wrong place?

I am trying to configure my SCXI-1540 w/1315 card for excitation voltage and frequency using MAX - but it is not giving me that option when I click on the card and then properties, am I looking in the wrong place?
I have LabVIEW Express 7.0 Professional - SCXI-1000 Chassiss - along with SCXI-1112, and SCXI 1520/1314 - cable to the PCI-6052E is attached to the 1520 card.
MAX says it recognizes all the cards in the chassiss.

    Jeremy, Thanks for the reply.
I tried to set up the system as DAQmx.
I had MAX auto-detect the set-up - and it recognized all the cards - but did not select the 1315 accessory on the 1540 card - I had to do that manually - but in the configuration section I would select the accessory and it would deselect itself. I had to get out of the set-up and then right click on the 1540 card and click on the "Accessories" tab and select the 1315 terminal block that way.
It didn't seem right that the system should behave that way, but I pressed onward.
I then tried to create a new DAQmx Task
When I create new DAQmx task and then click on Analog Input no "Position" Tab appears for me to select, all I get are:
    Analog>>Voltage
    Analog>>Temperature
    Ana
    log>>Strain
    Analog>>Current
    Analog>>Resistance
    Analog>>Frequency
    Analog>>Custom Voltage with Excitation
Do you think there might be something wrong with either my hardware or perhaps my configuration that is not allowing it to recognize the 1540/1315 in DAQmx?
I had included the system report of what programs I am using, etc. as attached file nireport.txt
After the DAQmx did not work I tried installing everything as Traditional DAQ and it did let me set-up the 1540 Card with Excitation Voltage and Frequency and gain - I then went in to the VI that I had built and tried to use the Express DAQ Assisant to read the channel that I am connected to on the 1315/1540 - when I try to use DAQ Assistant it gives me an error saying that "Device not available in NI-DAQmx. It is possible that the device is being use by traditional NI-DAQ"
Which I guess it is since both configurations are now set-up in MAX.
I would PREFER to use the DAQmx set-up, but I am confused as to WHY it won
    't come up with
    Analog input>>POSITION>>LVDT
When I try to create a new DAQmx task.
Thanks for the help so far! As you can probably tell I am new at this.

  • Problem to install modul SCXI 1112 with a 1000DC chassis

I want to install the module SCXi 1112 with the chassis 1000DC but when I test the chassis with NI Max, it don t find the module.I connect the chassis to a MIO 6025E. One precision, I have control the connection between the two elements and the autodetection don t find the module
warning message Failed to find Slot 1 is empty

    Mous,
The first step is to make sure that the NI-DAQ driver is installed properly and that your DAQ board (6025E) is working properly.
Then, refer to page 2-6 and 2-7 of the SCXI 1112 User Manual. It gives some troubleshooting help for the error you are receiving.
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/322476a.pdf.
You may also want to try installing the 2 modules separately and install them in different slots to rule out which module or slot is causing a problem.
Hope this helps. Have a great day!

  • Scxi 1112 can not acquire correct data at high temperature(higher than 700C)

A scxi-1112 module in scxi-1001 chassis is used to acquire oven Temperature. Software is LabView 8.5. when oven is ramping higher than 700C, the module gets wrong data, the data acquisition VI shows random values around 700C.It seems the scxi-1112 module "reaches" its maximum setting, which actually is 1000C. Can Anybody explain what's happening to me? Thanks.

    Hi gq,
Could you please provide a screenshot of the
way you are configuring the task, as well as what the data looks like
that you are seeing when it behaves incorrectly? If you just perform a
voltage reading (instead of a temperature task), what values are
returned, and does it show the same behavior of reaching a certain
voltage and not ramping any higher? Also, how do you have your
thermocouple attached to your oven; is there any possibility that the
connection is conducting at that temperature? Also, regarding the use of different measurements in the task, are you using different modules in your system or are the measurements being done on the same 1112 module? Additionally, have you tried other channels and received the same problem? I look forward to reading your response.

  • SCXI-1112 thermocouple with Autozero.vi

Please the following doubt I have on the example program "SCXI-1112 thermocouple with Autozero.vi".
In the vi's first sequence ground readings for each channel is found out and it is available in a 1D array. Each element in the 1D array corresponds to each channel's ground reading. These zero readings of each channels are to be substacted from each channel's subsequent data. But it is not doing so. In the second sequence since a column is indexed (which corresponds to one channel data) actual substraction is taking place between a channel's data and all channels ground readings available from first sequence. which is wrong.
    Kindly clarify the above doubt.

    Greetings,
You are correct. This example needs to be modified. The array of offset data should be indexed so that only one scalar value is subtracted from each element in the array of data from one channel. I have attached a modified version of the example.
    Good luck with your application.

  • Calibration of scxi-1112 channels simultaneously

can i calibrate all the channels in the module simultaneously using Scxi -calibrate vi if so please send me a example in lab veiw

    Suresh,
It is not possible to calibrate all of the channels in the SCXI-1112 module simultaneously. However, it is possible to design a program which will calibrate every channel sequentially without having to manually update the SCXI channel string between each calibration run. Simply place the SCXI Calibrate VI in a for loop. Use the index of the for loop as the channel number and create the channel string dynamically. You can then pass this string, which will change each time around the for loop, into the SCXI calibrate VI.

how do i calibrate Scxi -1112 internally and externally example using fluke instrument.
can i calibrate scxi-1112 using calibration executive.

    Suresh,
I assume you will be using LabVIEW to perform the calibration (let me know if I am incorrect). The LabVIEW help for "SCXI Calibrate.vi" (Functions >> Data Acquisition >> Calibration and Configuration) describes its use for both internal and external SCXI calibrations.
    Good luck with your application.

  • How do I physically connect the SCXI 1180 when using a 1520 and 1346 adapter?

    Here's my current configuration:
    SCXI 1000 chassis
x2 SCXI 1520 Bridge Modules (Slot 1, and Slot 2)
    1180 Feedthrough panel.
I recently purchased a 1346 adapter so I can use the feedthrough to access AI channels on the DAQ card.
My question is, how do I physically connect the ribbon cable of the 1180? Does it plug into the BACK of the last module in the chassis (ie. bridge module2 in slot 2) or does it plug into the other 49pin connector on the 1346 adapter?
If you read the installation manual for the 1180 http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371062a.pdf (Page 2-3)
And the installation manual for the 1346 http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/320722b.pdf (page 2)
it seems the instruction contradict eachother. The 1180 manual says connect it to the back of the module
the note under Fig.2 on page 2 of the 1346 says you cannot have anything plugged into the module next to the one that has the 1346 plugged into it; in my case that's module 2...

    SCXI- 1180 Feedthrough Panel w/ 1302 Block
    Signal Express 2014.
    Win7 Enterprise

I have the 1346 plugged into the first module in slot 1.
But let me try and clairfy what you're saying...
"Then the cable from the 1346 kind of loops back into the chassis and through the 1180". So this is my answer? But I'm actually taking  the cable from the 1180 and plugging it into the other 49-pin connector on the 1346. Sorry, symantics...
"...it must be on the first card when using a 1520". By "it" are you referring to the 1346 (which is how it's currently configured) or the 1180 cable?
and lastly; why does the 1180 need to go into slot 2? I can currently fill both slots (1&2) with the 1520's and with the 1346 plugged into module1/slot1, I can pass the ribbon cable around back of module2 and into the 1346.
Is there some other reason beside potential space limitations that you'd use the feedthrough in slot2?
Thanks for your info and patience!

  • Scxi 1126 frequency measurement along with other scxi modules

I want to measure frequency signal using sxci 1126. I have gone through the example code for sxci 1126. I am using NI-DAQ and Labview 7.1.
The example code is applicable when am acquiring only from 1126. I have to acquire data also from 1102 102B along with 1126.
In the example code along with AI config.vi and Ai Start.vi there are two additional vi's like AI paramete.vi and AI Trigger config.vi I understand that they are used for reading from 1126. My worry is how this is going to affect my acquisition from other scxi modules as all the modules are in multiplexed mode.

    Hi Bipin,
Looking at your code, I see that you are still using Traditional DAQ. Since you have LV 7.1, you can take advantage of the new features of DAQmx.
With DAQmx, you can create a virtual task that includes all of the different types of measurements you want to make. Once you set up the task in MAX, you can place it on the block diagram and automatically generate the code necessary to execute this.
To do this, open up the Measurement and Automation Exlporer (MAX). Select "Data Neighborhood" from the tree on the left. Then click the button labeled "Create New." Create a DAQmx Virtual Channel. Follow the series of menus to set up your first type of acquisition (1126 frequency measurement). When you are
done creating the task, you can add the second type of measurement to that same task. In the task config page, you will see a white box with the name of the channel you just created in it. Above the name you will see an "Add" button. Click on this button and follow the menus to set up your second measurement (1102 module).
Once they are set up, save the task and open LabVIEW. Place the DAQmx Task Name constant on your block diagram found in All Functions >> Data Acquisition >> DAQmx... the task name constant is a purple colored box. Clicking on the box once its on the block diagram will expand a menu that will let you choose your task. Once selected, right click on the task name and choose Generate Code >> Example. This will automatically generate the code necessary to run the tasks. Simply hit the run button and enjoy!
    Thanks,

  • SCXI-1102/SCXI-1303 not detected in SCXI-1000 chassis

I am using a setup with SCXI-1303 module in a SCXI-1102 within a SCXI-1000 chassis to take voltage and thermocouple measurements.
Until recently, everything was working fine. but it now appears I am unable to communicate with the interface. I have tried two different computers and the hardware is not detected in MAX. The power light and fan on the SCXI-1000 still comes on, there just appears to be no acknowledgment of the connection to the computer.
A few more specific error codes:
    * When I double-clicked the DAQ Assistant in the block diagram window and clicked "Test" on one of my inputs, I received the following error:
"Error -88705:The specified device is not present or is not active in the system."
    * I have also gotten the error code "Error -89130: Device not available in NI-DAQmx" in the DAQ Assistant test panel
    * When closing the DAQ Assistant test panel, I see the error "Error -89130: Device not available for routing"
    * In MAX, if I try to "test" the chassis or module, I have seen errors either saying that the device is not detected, or that the device needs to be reset or is in the process of being reset, or that Traditional DAQ drivers need to be reset (I've tried these reset suggestions with no result)
At this point I'm wondering if the board or the cable is shot. I unfortunately don't have another 68-pin cable to test at the moment.
    Thanks in advance...

Thanks guys, I was able to resolve the problem. For anyone who might come across this,
    * I noticed in Windows Device Manager that two PCI devices were listed as not being installed properly.
    * After trying to update the drivers, I couldn't start the computer; got BSOD after BIOS load.
    * Some research prompted me to pull out the two PCI cards that I was not using, and I also moved my DAQ card to another slot to force a hardware reinstall.
    * Booted up, loaded the drivers automatically, and off I went.
Doesn't explain why it didn't work in the other computer, but in the words of Spinal Tap, the authorities said it was better left unsolved at this point.
You should move the DAQ board back and verify whether it still works. Perhaps one of the slots went bad.
You didn't notice that you had two PCI devices that were not installed properly before?

  • Swapping hard drives between PXI-8115 and PXI-8105 won't boot up

I have a test system running Windows XP on PXI-8105.  I've upgraded the entire test system for another project and need to upgrade my existing systems; the upgrade runs on Windows 7 and PXI-8115.  I have new hard drives with Windows 7 and the new test software which were loaded/configured/tested on a PXI-8115, but I need to retrofit the PXI-8105 with them.  This doesn't work.  Windows begins to boot but fails and tries over and over again.  In an effort to take the PXI-8105 off-line to troubleshoot, I replaced it with one of the PXI-8115 and the old (WinXP) drive.  This didn't boot up, either.
Here's a summary of my situation:
An old system has PXI-8105 running WinXP
A new system has PXI -8115 running Win7
A hard drive (with Win7) from the PXI-8115 won't boot on the PXI-8105
A hard drive (with WinXP) from the PXI-8105 won't boot on the PXI-8115
What is different between the two PXI controllers that keeps me from swapping hard drives?

    A couple thoughts:
    1. Windows 7 probably works fine on a PXI-8105. Although NI never officially supported or shipped that configuration, I suspect that the default Windows 7 installation contains enough of the driver support needed to boot up.
    2. In general, Windows is not very tolerant of swapping hard drives between completely different systems, especially with Windows XP and prior. Consider whether just installing fresh and copying over what you need is faster than trying to do this, but if you must, I would suspect that Windows 7 would be more tolerant of the swap.
    3. As a debugging step, try pressing 'F8' during the boot process to launch the Windows boot menu and try safe mode or some of the other options.  More information here.
    4. If all else fails, Google is your friend here as there's nothing particularly specific about this being an NI product that you need to know when attempting this operation. Any information you find online about swapping hard drives between PCs should be relevant to your situation. Searching for 'swap hard drive to new computer windows 7' gave some useful hits on the first page. Beyond that, you can also look into using the 'sysprep' utility to try and clean the system and prepare for swapping to a new PC.
