SCXI Switches not showing up in NI-Switch Soft Front Panel

Hi,
I have an SCXI 1001 chassis containing about a dozen SCXI 1160 switch modules. The first switch module is connected to a PXI-4060 DMM card in a seperate PXI chassis. MAX 4.0 was able to auto-detect the switches, and they show up under the "Devices and Interfaces" folder. However, when I run the NI-Switch Soft Front Panel application, the SCXI switches do not show up as selectable switches. Are there additional properties that need to be configured in order for the Soft Front Panel to detect the SCXI switches? Is there an online manual/guide for doing this?

If you have the option of using a DAQmx supported device as the controller for the SCXI chassis, I would recommend changing your SCXI configuration so that your SCXI devices show up in the Soft Front Panel.
If the PXI-4060 (which is not supported under DAQmx) is the only SCXI chassis controller you have, a workaround is to use the Traditional(Old) Soft Front Panel. The Old Soft Front Panel has not been updated with switch modules since NI-SWITCH 2.4 and is not currently supported. But given that you have SCXI-1160s in your chassis, it should work for your use case.
We install the Old Soft Front Panel at Program Files\IVI\Drivers\niSwitch\OldSoftFrontPanel

I have a PXI chassis with, among other modules, two PXI-2350 switches. Using the Switch Soft Front Panel, it seems the names assigned in the Active Device list ( the two 2350's in this case ) are backwards to what I expect. Is there a way to reassociate these names to the physical 2350's ?

That is an interesting issue that I have never seen before, your devices in Soft Front Panel should be linked to the devices as labeled in MAX. I was wondering, when you say "Using MAX, we can select a route that connects the power source to the DMM using "Switch 1" ( for example ), and we can see the voltage reading show up on the 4071 Soft Front Panel as expected", what exactly do you mean? If you were to select your hardware device and click test panels, the NI Switch Soft Front Panel loads. Are you saying that when selecting test panels and loading Switch Soft Front Panel from max works as expected, however opening the application outside of MAX does not work?
Or are you talking about the Test Panels that you open up within NI Switch Executive? The test panels for NI Switch Executive refer to the NI Switch Executive virtual device name, not the DAQmx device name. If you had named the NI Switch Executive Virtual device name in a similar manner, this could be part of the confusing problems that you are seeing. See images below:

My photos are not showing up as layers in the layers panel, only as one layer, so I can't make any changes to the layers. Does anyone know why this is happening? Am I downloading them from my camera wrong?

Photos from cameras or scans have only one layer (the 'background' layer).
You can start with that 'background' layer and duplicate it or add other layers in the editing process. For instance you can make a selection of a subject and put it on another layer; a common use is to desaturate the 'background' and to keep the color in the selected subject in your newly created layer.

XMP data not showing up in the custom file info panels when upgraded to CC

For several versions of Photoshop, I have been able to use a modified custom file info panel to input, update, and track psd files. With each version of photoshop there are always some changes in the way the object data is handled. The lastest challenge is:
1. XMP data not showing up in the custom file info panels when upgraded CC from CS6.
2. Raw data is not visible in CC in the File info panel.
3. This occurs in new documents where we create the xmp wrapper while the file template is built.
4. When metadata is manually entered into the file, the data is not added to the XMP wrapper when it is recreated on the save.
5. When a file that was created in CS6 is opened that contains the Metadata in the file info template. It is visible. the Raw data is also visible. Once the XMP wrapper is recreated - write and then close. The data is no longer available. the Raw data will not pull up in the file info panel.
Any feedback or a direction will be appreciated.

I have a script that the user runs to input xmp data into a Customized version of the generic file info panel. it is data that is gathered from the user when the psd file is created. once the file is open in photoshop. the information is visible in the File info panel , the raw data, and as a schema addition in the advanced tab.
in CC the nodes and the children of the XMP packet have changed positions. so that the XML -this.XMP.child(0).appendChild(this.createNode())
is no longer the node that can be appended.
Where XML.child(0).elements().length(); would enable the xmlns to be added in CS6

it is visible in CC as namespace in a different arrangement. XML.child(0).child(0).namespaceDeclarations().toString()) and the children are XML.child(0).child(0).elements().length().toString()); There are now 7 child nodes where before there were 1.
with all shifted, the initialize of the values and the delete XMP packet wrapper and create new or the amend to the XMP packet wrapper is undefined.

NI DMM Soft front panel did not detect any ni-dmm

Hello,
has anyone seen this failure? I can´t open soft front panel to setup the dmm. I tried to reinstall VISA and NI-DMM without success.

Hello,
reinstalling the nidmm and visa will cause several reboots of the system. That was no solution
for me and my problem.
After starting the nidmm, the window with the information, that the 4072 won´t be found shows
a RESCAN button. By pressing the RESCAN button, the error code -1074118656 and the message,
that the device ist not recognized and this version or driver wont fit my 4072.
Should I install the only install the delivered driver or could I update to the actual version?
Delivered was Version 2.5 of NIDMM, installed on my system is the actual one from the NI homepage.
I think, I try to deinstall the NI-SW completely and install "only" the delivered SW. Hope, this will solve.

My Websites are not showing up on the Creative Cloud Control Panel

Hi guys,
For some reason, just recently, my websites that I have hosted with BC, that I have built for clients, are not showing up on the right control panel? Usually when I load up CC, it shows the Website text as ...loading, then my sites appear... now, nothing.

This seems to be a bug with Creative Cloud. I am encountering the same issue. We've gone ahead and notified the product team, but for now, you can access your websites by directly logging into Business Catalyst: http://www.businesscatalyst.com/admin/Index.aspx. Use the same log in information that you use for your Creative Cloud memberhsip.

How to show or hide a control in front panel

Hi All, I am revising the code from someone else, and a control in front panel seems to be hidden until you click something to make it show. I tried to use right click in front panel and it did not work by clicking something related to show or hide. Since I don't quite familiar with property nodes, this hidden setting may be related to that.
In the picture it shows the front panel and its two property nodes, could anyone advise me how to change the setting to show this control? Thank you!

If you right-click on the the control's terminal, you will see an option to "Hide Control" or "Show Control". This is what you should use when editing the code. The property nodes set to Visible are for when the application is running.

LV 8.0.1 'NOT RESPONDING' and/or 'split' and unusable front panel while scrolling

Hello,
Is anyone aware of any display or front-panel glitches and bugs with LV 8.0.1? I have been using LV for years, but I have never seen the front panel tear itself (literally) in sections while I use the standard scoll bars at the edges of teh screen, then become completely unusable and go into [NOT RESPONDING] mode (???). In other words, my front panel displays have always moved as one continuous piece when scrolling. During these recent episodes, I would use the scroll bars and parts of my front panel displays would not move while the other section(s) tore away and scrolled as I commanded. When this happens, my entire PC would slow down, the CPU usage would rise and a approach 100%, and the VI was unusable. I have been writing a particular VI for several months, starting in LV 6.1, then LV 8.0 PRO-DEV, and recently upgraded to the LV 8.0.1 'maintenance' release. The problem that I describe here began to occur within two weeks of the maintenance upgrade. The problem seemed to be propagating to my back-up version after I opened each VI in unsuccessful attempts to find a VI that did not appear corrupted. It seemed as if any VI that I opened was going to be plagued by the bug that I described above and I thought that I was going to lose months of expensive work and my job!!!!. In a last ditch effort ( and a stroke of pure genius) I started saving some of these coorupt version as 'PREVIOUS' in LV7.1 format. This seems to have turned the situation around, for now, and saved my VIs from becoming corrupted and completely unusable.
Please let me know if anyone else has seen this. Also, please let me know how to avoid this, in the future. Does this indicate corruption of my LV 8.0.1 PRO-DEV environment or the VI files (or both)? Does NI have tools to correct these corruptions?

Thank you. I can only point to the following events/ techniques that were somewhat different from my previous experiences/ techniques:
1) Performed 'SAVE AS... ' new file name to these files over several months and several times a day using similar filenames with only one number character different between them
2) Logging long data files to the root C: drive and closing in on less < 5GB HDD remaining (could this be overwriting soem temp files that LV uses to manag graphics???)
3) After saving to LV 7.1 and re-opening with LV 8.0, I get a message that is new to me that explained something about wiring a Boolean constant to a case structure and how LV 7.1 or previous used this to keep a sub-vi in memory (???). Unfortunately for me, I did not capture the exact syntax of this message and I do not wish to intentionally repeat this graphical feature.
4) I copied a small block of code that contained a 'cloned' sub-vi from one block diagram to the a similar VI that , shortly afterward, exhibited the front-panle 'tearing' feature. This is something that I usually do not do, and, again, is one of the only new actions from anything that I have done in LV for the past several years.
5) After the message described in (3), above, the rescued LV 7.1 version had moved a handful of the most recently added indicators to a very remote location, about 30 seconds of edge-scrolling time, to the left of my front panel graphics. I perfromed a 'drag' operation by selecting these and bumping them to the right edge of the screen for about 30 seconds to get them back to the vicinity of my front-panel graphics. I have never experienced a VI that shifted inidcators so far off the edge of the screen.
These are the only ' unique' events that I can recall before the 'tear; effect.

Itunes does not show my audio cd on the left panel

Hi,
I have a Dell Laptop with Windows 7.
When I put an audio CD into the DVD/CD-drive, I can hear the music with every program on my computer except from iTunes.
The audio CD is not shown on the left panel of iTunes.
The CD does not have a copy protection because iTunes on my father's computer does show the CD.
However, when I run the diagnostics, there a no errors. iTunes recognizes even the tracks on the CD etc. - everything is fine.
Only the CD is not shown on the left panel and I cannot hear the tracks of the CD nor rip it.
I have already checked the support sites, I have already checked the DVD/CD-drive filters, reinstalled iTunes, downloaded the latest firmware and the drivers etc. etc. (and everything else what is recommended on Apple's support sites).
Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem?

Menus not showing up in folio builder or overlays panel

Hello everyone!
I've been trying to find the solution to my issue for a few days now! I've been trying many of the solutions to this, but i'm stumped. I'm using Indesign CC and i'm attempting to build a digital magazine but it's not giving me the option to create a new folio or to even use the tools associated with DPS. I've tried reinstalling CC and rebooting the machine. Any help would be much appreciated.

I had the same problems after the latest InDesign and DPS tools updates. The Adobe Help guys (via chat) were very helpful. I have managed to fix all problems with CC updates and InDesign. First try to find your problem in Adobe Help (http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html) and than use the chat if it still unclear.

Installing PCI-6052E having trouble loading driver module - Switch Soft Panel

I'm having trouble installing my PCI-6052E card in a Windows 2000 environment. After installing the card in the computer I boot up the computer, from there I click on the Start button, programs, NI Switch and cannot get the NI-Switch Soft Front Panel to work. When I click on the icon I get an error message returned that says "Failure Loading Driver Module". Any ideas?

If you are trying to use the NI-Switch Soft Front Panel, please make sure that you have a switch module installed.
If you are trying to bring a test panel for the PCI 6052E, then you will need to open the Measurement and Automation Explorer which is found in Start >> National Instruments >> Measurement & Automation. Right click NI PCI-6052E under Devices and Interfaces >> NI-DAQmx Devices and select Test Panels...
If you only have a PCI-6052E installed, then what you are seeing is expected behavior since the NI-Switch driver is only for National Instruments Switch modules.

PXI-2503 SFP not showing correct COM"X" number?

Hi,
I have some PXI-2503 that I am using for the first time. Using it in 2-wire 24x1 mode
1) It seems to me like the SFP is always showing "COM0" whichever channel is used. My understanding is that it should be routing signals via COM0 for chan 0-5, COM1 for chan 6-11 COM2 for chan 12-17 etc and measurements show that too. But in the SFP it always indicates routing via COM0?
2) Question; is the pinout number of the TB2605 screw terminals, the asme as the numbers for the pinout of the PXI-2503? It seem to be so. Can someone confirm?

1. Using the 2-wire 24x1 topology you are multiplexing 24 inputs to a single line. So you should only have one Common port. I guess the schematic on page 3 in the PXI-2503 Specifications has you confused. Please note the BC01, BC02 and BC03 relays in the schematic. If you switch to the Relays tab in the Soft Front Panel you will see that they are all closed in the mode your are using, meaning that signals from all inputs can reach com0.
If you change the topology to "2-Wire Dual 12x1 MUX" you will notice that bc02 turns open and in the Schematic tab you will now have an option to change bank in the top right corner. In this case Bank 0 uses com0 and Bank 1 uses com2

OS X not showing up in boot camp control panel

Hi, I am using mac book pro with OS X mavericks. Recently I installed windows 8.1 with boot camp assistant. It was all running fine. I partitioned my windows 8.1 drive to a new volume. When I did this,my OS X disappeared in bootcamp control panel. It not showing up in the list of OS's when we boot the machine. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are not seeing the OS X partition while holding down the option/alt key during a restart, it appears your Boot Camp installation damaged the OS X partition, which is probably why it is not showing up in the Boot Camp control panel.
Do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then select the Macintosh HD partition and re-install the OS.

To enable iCloud on your Windows PC, first set up iCloud on your other devices, then install the iCloud Control Panel for Windows (Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 or Windows 7 required).

OS X not showing KBPS?

I noticed "get info" is not showing me the KBPS for my music. The only way i can see it is if i get it into itunes and click "get info" from that, but its kind of a pain. any solutions?
