Sd card erased itself when using the windows 7 partition on bootcamp
I just recently set up bootcamp to benefit from some of the features on Windows 7. I followed the procedure and installed the WindowsSupport folder (part of the bootcamp process on an SD card - which was loaded with loads of other files).
I noticed a tricky part of the installation when the Windows 7 disc started to install in that Windows wouldn't install on the bootcamp partition because it wasn't NTFS format. I chose the option to convert the drive to NTFS and the installation completed fine.
I then opened the WindowsSupport folder that I had chosen to have installed on the SD card which contained the bootcamp software and drivers and started the 'setup' process which all looked to be going fine. Next thing I find is that the SD card is blanked and the bootcamp install software reported that it couldn't find the required .msi file.
The reason for this was that the SD card appeared blank. I then selected the option to scan and fix problems which didn't work and just hanged (so I cancelled it).
I am now faced with an SD card with some important data on it that is not recognised (not even registering as there) when put into the SD slot on MAC OSX Mountain Lion and when insterted on the Windows side it just says that it needs formatting (which I haven't done) in order to be usable.
THis all leaves me with a few questions if anyone can help:
1, Can I recover the files on the SD Card & if so, how do I do this when OSX doesn't even recognise the SD card anymore?
2, In my pursuit to complete bootcamp installation, if I were to install the windows support files again from the OSX partiiton, how do I prevent the files from being deleted again? i need to do this to complete the Windows 7 installation as I currently have only the very basic functions with no drivers etc.
3, I previously had an old Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion & Windows Vista and could leave the SD card in the drive and use files on both operating system. As Windows 7 is using NTFS, does this mean I risk having the SD card data deleted everytime I access something from the WIndows 7 side?
Any help would be much appreciated.

How was the SD card formatted (and why did you not follow the Boot Camp Directions (use a USB thumb drive formatted as Fat32, or use a DVD)

The files have probably been lost, it was unwise to compound the choice of incorrect media by using media that had 'important data' on it.

Reboot into OSX and read the directions for Boot Camp installation, then follow them exactly

The card must be formatted as FAT32, I would invest $10 in a USB thumb drive, it's cheap.
And I would read the Directions before doing anything else!

Wierd noise when Using the XP partition
Hey guys,
When I'm using the XP partition I would also plug in another monitor while working. I would get this weird sound (like a robot) followed by pauses or short freezes when in the middle of my work. It doesn't happen all the time but only when i'm playing audio or scrubbing videos.

How large should I make the Windows partition in Bootcamp?
I've just taken delivery of a shiny new 17" Macbook Pro and I am planning to install Windows 7 on it and run SolidWorks 2010 as well as all the Mac side stuff (Adobe CS4, vectorWorks etc). The question I have is what do the experts here think I should set as the Windows partition size? I have a 500GB drive to work with.
Also, is it best practise to separate Windows files (eg the SolidWorks files) and the Mac files? Should I aim to have all the Windows native app files on the Windows partition or is it OK to mix and match (ie keep everything on the Mac side and access them from Windows)?right. I've installed both the 64bit and 32bit versions of Windows 7 and Office 2010 CPP (plus all OS/driver updates from Windows Update as well as other necessary apps (like anti-virus, DropBox, 2GB of personal data)) on a 60GB BC partition and wound up with about 43GB free. I'm not sure what everyone else is installing but you do NOT need a huge partition/drive for Windows 7. 60GB will do you just fine (and believe it or not, Windows is my default OS. I use Snow Leopard for iTunes, Photos (all multimedia), web cam/skype, and have the lion share of my 500GB drive allocated to OSX.
Things are working very well with this configuration. -
Can you use disk utility to resize the windows partition in bootcamp
I've successful done everything for bootcamp, but I think I made the partition size for windows too small. I read you can use the disc utility on mac to resize it, is that true and does it work fine? I haven't installed anything on the windows part yet so it's not like I need to worry about losing anything
No. If you do then neither your boot loader nor Boot Camp Assistant will be usable. You should use a tool like Paragon Camptune X 10 to make resizing easy.
Boot Camp Assistant would require you to first remove the partition then create a new one. -
ITunes keeps stealing focus from itself when used with Windows Live Messenger 2011
Dear Community,
I've always used WinAmp as my default music player, which worked like a charm both at playing music and showing my 'Currently Listening To' in WLM 2011.
However, I personally think iTunes has better library management, and since I bought an iPod Shuffle (4GB, small stick without buttons, think 3th gen?) I needed it anyway just to be able to listen to my music when I'm in the bus or train, so I made the switch.
It really works quite nice after you get to know the program, minor flaws here and there, but no really big deals. (except the lack of FLAC support, had to recode like 60% of my library, I like lossless audio without a proprietary codec)
At least, not until I used it to show the currently playing song in WLM2011.
Since upgrading from iTunes 9 to 10 (10.4.1.10 to be exact, and upgraded after a clean install of Windows 7 SP1, so to make it clear, iTunes 9 was not installed at the time I installed iTunes 10, nor were there any files or leftovers) it just keeps stealing focus. Not from my browser, or other apps, but from itself!
Whenever I try to edit a song's information and WLM is running, it keeps popping back to the main window, which makes correcting songs (like putting the artist in the right column) a real pain in the ***.
I'm running W7 x64 SP1 (build 7601), all drivers are up to date, WLM 2011 (build 15.4.3538.513) and, if it makes a difference, WLM Plus 5.03.0.716.
I already have it as 'Default Program' for all possible file extensions.
I have looked through these forums to see if there's a similar problem and found many, however, they all apply to older versions (iTunes 6 and 7 or MSN 7 and 8) and don't seem to work with this new version.
If any of you know a way to keep iTunes as my default player and show the currently playing son in WLM2011 without iTunes stealing its own focus, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks in advance!hi there, i've had this same issue too for a while...so basically...the problem only happens if you run windows live messenger with compatability mode and while you tell windows live messenger to show what music you're listening to.
SO the solution to this problem is to:
1. turn off compatability mode
OR
2. turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" to on windows live messenger
personally i'd rather just turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" because windows live messanger tends to crash a lot when compatability mode is turned off. -
Set a timeout for crystal sessions while using the Windows.Forms.Viewer?

I am looking for a way to set the timeout for the crystal report sessions when using the Windows.Forms.Viewer in a .NET application. I guess that the default value is 20 minutes (like in the entperprise installations) but we cannot afford to keep many sessions open for that long. Is there a registry entry which can be set? Or even a way to do this programmatically?

we are talking here about a standalone .NET application where the reports are installed locally (like the application itself). We are not retrieving the reports from a server. The whole thing was developed using the crystal report viewer model probably because it was easier to do so. Is there a method in this model to tell the crystal runtime to do the clean-up work either for a report (like the ReportDocument.Close() ) or for the entire runtime instance. Dispose() does not seem to help us. If you say that there is no other way than redesign then we have to consider this option also.

PS: What I was thinking of (as Plan B instead of using the ReportDocument object model) is to instantiate the crystal report viewer object in a separate process (.exe). Please note that we open a new crystal report viewer windows for each report, which is displayed. Closing the viewer window (ie. terminate the process) will at least then clean up and release the crystal DLLs and hopefully close the database connections. Or am I missing something here?

UDESEncrypt Errors when using the JAVA engine (NW IDM 7.0)

I'm seeing an error when I use the uDESEncrypt function with the Java Engine in NW IDM SP2 Patch 3.
The error I am getting is:
runFunctionsInString($FUNCTION.encrPWD()$$) got exception
org.mozilla.javascript.EvaluatorException: uDESEncrypt: Key should be exactly 24 bytes long.
The code calling it is:

1) setting key empty and it will look into %DSE_HOME%\KEY\key.ini
which should be C:\Program Files\SAP\IdM\Identity Center\Key\key.ini on default installation path.
2) or setting the key to something like = 6D5A2AF59B1CDD7F9592484F178331C891537A3F9B91D362
a 24 byte key...
Also when using DES you should ensure that in Identity Center underneath Options/General
you have encryption algorithm set to 3DES.
Normally if you intend to use this for password provisioning in IC you would also
on the identity store (for instance 'Enterprise people') underneath 'password policy' check
of for 'enable password provisioning.'
By doing so the MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD with be set when operating through
workflow (3DES encryption version of the MX_PASSWORD) which allows you to obtain password
when provisioning to other target systems... -
How can I force mount a dvd that isn't even seen by Disk Utility? I can see it on the Mac when using my Windows 7 partition via Boot Camp, but not in Lion, which is how I would rather be running.
Well if there is a EFI block, then running a program in OS X isn't going to do a lick of good.
After all EFI was designed for Trusted Computing and Digital Rights Management, to act between the OS and hardware, can read drives, contact the Internet and everything.
Windows doesn't use EFI, will have UEFI in Windows 8 though. -

I have tried in-installing safari but it seems not to help. I have tried installing it to a third, newly installed pc and come to the same result.
All PCs are fully up-to-date as it regards Microsoft and Apple patches. Any ideas as to why this might happen?Still having the same problem. Ever the optimist, I submit the following info.

When using the migrate tool to migrate from windows to mac, can you use ethernet to connect the computers to each other? In the Migration tool, I was only given the option of choosing the computer when it appeared on the same network, and didn't see an option to connect them to each other. Even though they're both connected to the same network with a wired connection, the migration is painfully slow.

Just installed windows 7 Ultimate using Boot Camp. Problem is when I choose to boot the windows partition, I get the windows icon on the screen showing that it is starting, but few second after, I get a blank screen. I suspect a driver (screen) issue, since I also installed Parallell using the boot camp partition and that works fine.
Do anybody out there has an ideal of what to do to solve this issue.

When using the internet, my web browser window goes blank
It does this quite often:
When using the internet, the web browser screen will go completly blank after 2 secs of loading.
I will see the page, then after two seconds it is gone, and the web browser is completely white.
Once, one page or tab does it, all the others start doing it.
It is very frustrating, and happens quite often.
