SD card getting burning hot ?

I inserted a SD card into  the SD card port and within 3 seconds it was burning hot. I removed the card quickly burning the tips of my fingers in the process. Why did this happen? and How do I fix it? I have a G60-235DX Notebook PC and running Windows Vista

  • 3GS gets burning hot during calls

For some reason, and ONLY OCCASIONALLY, my iPhone 3GS gets burning hot during phone calls. I'm definitely in a 68 degree cool environment, no direct sun, my phone was cold to the touch when I picked it up. But by 10 minutes into the call it's nearly too hot to touch. There's something about CERTAIN CALLS that this happens on. Other calls will be just fine. Often I can hang up with the person, call them back and the phone is fine.
I've even had the phone thermal-shutdown on me in the middle of a call, because of ITS OWN - SELF GENERATED heat.
Naturally this rips battery life to shreds. I get about 15 minutes of talk and I'm done. Even ON CHARGER, it continues to lose battery and will shut down. So the phone module is drawing more power than USB charging can replace.
How do I fix this? Or is the iPhone just junk?

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar - http://apple.com/retail/geniusbar . The heat is coming from your battery.

  • Macbookpro gets burning hot!

My Macbook Pro gets unbelievably hot whenever I watch a video, especially when I watch it in HD. Is this normal behavior? I'm concerned of the actual hotness level. It literarily burns.

The aluminum case of the MBP acts as a heat sink to dissipate heat from the computer. You should not use the computer on a bed or other such soft surface. If you are using it on your lap place it on a piece of board or one of the USB fan devices. Otherwise the heat will build up in the computer.

  • Adapter / charger gets BURNING HOT!!

MY ADAPTER GET SO HOT WHILE CHARGING, TOO HOT TO EVEN HOLD. AND MY MACBOOK FAN GOES ON CONSTANTLY. IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBELM?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I had a similar problem with my MacBook power adapter. I contacted Apple, and they shipped a new one to me straight away. I suggest you do the same, so long as you are within your one-year warranty, or have the AppleCare Protection Plan. If you have a local Apple Store, you may wish to bring it there, and I assume they will swap your old charging adapter for a new one, also.

  • Ndivia 320m video card getting very hot

I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro from mid 2010 with the nvidia 320m graphics card and lattely the computer has been very warm. Namely, during normal work in Mac with iTunes, Safari, iCal etc. open the computer performs well (at roughly 2000-3000 rps for the fans). But the minute I open iPhoto or play a video from a website using Safari the fans really kick in (sometimes as high as 6500). The problem gets even worse in bootcamp with Windows 7 64bit installed. When playing videos from the internet the graphics card temeprature reaches 70-75 degress with the fan also running at high. What can be a cause for such a problem and some ideas on how to solve it?

Also, if this makes any difference, here are all of my readings currently:

  • Tecra 8100 CPU gets too hot

Well, some could remember my previous post about fan activation in my Tecra 8100.
This notebook came to me as a gift by a customer, because screen didn't work. After a bit of research, the problem was the internal cold cathode, that was broken. Once replaced: yup! a free notebook for me!! It was a Pentium III 650 Mobile, with 64MB of RAM and a 12GB hard disk. I replaced all those componentes (that are now for sale, btw) and it now has a Pentium III 850 Mobile, 512MB of RAM and a 40GB hard disk. Some one gave me a PCMCIA 11Mbps WiFi card, and now how it is working, with Windows XP Professional and updated Toshiba utilities and drivers downloaded from Toshiba USA.
What's the buzz? SpeedFan, Motherboard Monitor and other monitoring utilities reports temperatures of up to 72?ºC in the CPU. I opened the notebook and put thermal paste instead of the sticker the heatsink has. Temperature keeps high, and Toshiba Utilities even at "high performance cooling" settings doesn't make the fan cool the cpu...
I have not hangs at all, but notebook case and pcmcia cards get too hot even with the system working with no apps running. Lowering the CPU clock or ratio doesn't help at all.
I'm thinking of putting an extra fan somewhere to force air flow and that way cool the cpu, unless that...
...Toshiba could develop an utility that allows to directly control fan speed. I don't know if thermal management is hardware or software driven. If it's software driven, it should be easy to create a utility that access directly to fan and temperature registers. That would be MUCH better that simply let the computer decide when and how long to activate the fan.
I'm sure that Toshiba engineers are busy with more important things that will not allow them to create the utility for us, so...
...what to check or do to cool down the CPU to more appropiate values?
    Thanks all!

    Hi
Like in you previous posting described the Toshiba power saver controls the CPU and fan usage.
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=12585
This software works great and if you use the notebook as prescribed, you shouldn't get any problems and overheating issues.
The problem is that you have changed all devices and parts on you notebook. The new parts are efficient but produce more warmness.
On the notebook you can cool the CPU with one little fan and if it doesn't last out, it's necessary to decrease the CPU performance.
This is a simple fact. All these functions can be set with power saver.
Furthermore it's very important that your cooling module is clear and no dust and debris handicap the fan working.

  • My Ipod touch 2nd gen. was working fine but when I tried to charge from my PC the Ipod start getting too hot and the screen turn black and doesn't  work anymore.Maybe is burn?

My Ipod touch 2nd generation was working fine until I tried to charge again from my PC,when I connected the Ipod was getting too hot and smelling like burn cable, the screen turn black and doesn't work anymore. any ideas about what happen?

    You can try here:

However, from your discription, I suspect that something is broken.  Maybe a dead battery.  In that case. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and see what they say.

  • When i play dirt2 my iMac gets super hot to where the top will burn my hand is that normal

    is this normal

When your computer gets to hot it will shut down. Your numbers after playing a game for 30 minutes are about right and isn't putting to much strain on your computer.
In the summer months I have seen my iMac get above 180. If I'm compress a HD video and using all of my cores my fans kick in at over 2000 rpms.
The above image the iMac is not really doing anything... nothing to worry about. I've never had my iMac shut down from being to hot.

  • BlackBerry Torch Getting Extremely Hot

The past few days for some unknown reason, my BB Torch has started getting extremely hot when in use, particularly when making or receiving calls. The phone then also starts to “Call Fail” when it gets so hot. The phone gets so hot it almost burns your skin if you put the phone in your pocket. If I don’t use the phone at all, it then cools down again, but as soon as I start to use it again it heats up. Also when I charge the phone it starts to charge then stops, then when you pull the charger out and plug it in again it charges again normally.
It does not get extremely hot all the time. It might work half the day normally, then all of a sudden it will just start heating up and start “dropping” the calls.
I took it in to my Service Provider today and they sending it off to Blackberry for them to look at the phone to see what is wrong. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this with their phone at all?

On device go to Options, Device, Application Management is a great way to see what your apps are doing with your CPU usage on Smartphone. Just slide top bar to CPU and see what is going on. Also touch the CPU menu to see other time variables. I found out that an app was eating away CPU cycles on mine
Disable Compression on media card? go to Options, Device, Storage
using a custom theme? try it for a day the factory default one to rule out your theme
remember the esc key closes most apps, except for GPS and some chat clients. the other apps need to use menu and then exit or close. The farthest key to the right is a home key and does not close any apps per se but will end calls.

  • My Macbook Pro 15 inch gets super hot when surfing the web... What is wrong?

My Macbook Pro that I got in April this year gets superhot when I'm surfing the web, especially when I'm using Safari. Also when I'm using photoshop, which I can partly understand since it's a heavy program, but it gets so hot that it burns my hand if I touch the underneath, and that can't be right, can it? This is despite having it on a flat surface.
Also, I do not know much about RAM and stuff, but when I'm just surfing the web on Safari it uses 1 GB of the RAM memory, and I've tried with Firefox and it uses 500 mb. I don't even think photoshop uses that much when I'm editing big files. What is normal, and can that have something with my computer getting as hot as it gets? It also gets really, really loud.

    Install istat menus:
    http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/
Open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and set CPU to display values from high to low.
When the MBP gets hot, post images of both istat pro temperature display and Activity Monitor for evaluation:

No, if it's too hot to hold, you may want to have it evaluated by someone at the Apple store. Good luck!
