SD card in CD slot!

I have foolishly put an SD card into the CD slot by mistake and it has disappeared. Any tips as to how to retrieve it would be most welcome. Thanks!

Hi there, some success has been achieved with a "L" shaped hook made from a cereal box. Go in higher than the SD card and get behind it, then lower the "hook" and slide it out. Don't force things, be gentle and patience will pay off.

Happened to me too. Just before I went on holiday and I was clearing off my SD card for my camera. I left it there until I got back (having to buy a new card at the airport) then did a quick search. Found this clip on youTube featuring an L-shaped piece of cardboard trick which worked perfectly for me on second attempt.
You've got to really blame Apple for the design of the machine when you consider the sheer amount of people who have made this mistake. At least I won't make it again.

First problem is that SD cards go into their own slot. If you put it into the CD/DVD slot, you need to extract it. Do a search in these forums for sd card in dvd slot and peruse the hits.

  • HT204384 When i put the sd card in the slot nothing happens-why?

    Help!

What were you expecting to happen? Show on the desktop? Show in the sidebar? Start a program to grab photos?
You have to enable the ones you want. The first two are in Finder > Preferences > (General and Sidebar, respectively).
The third one is controlled inside Image Capture, but the option won't show up unless there is a card in the slot, and you select the card in the DEVICES list, and you click the little reveal trianle at the bottom of that column so it points down. That will give you a popup labeled "Connecting this camera opens:" and a list of applications on your computer that can import photos (one being Image Capture itself).

  • I brought a iphone 5c from ebay, when i recieve the i item its loked with i cloud, and also had a tmobile sim card in the slot...now i cant access the phone because its locked with i cloud,i do not have the owner details to contrac him,,

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • Wallstreet won't recognize DVD card in lower slot, but OK in top slot, ideas?

I've had this Wallstreet since it was new, and it came with the DVD drive and card. It's performed fine over the years- though the DVD is a bit touchy when it heats up. I've replaced the PCMCIA cage twice. Since installing the 2nd one, the decoder card isn't recognized by the machine when I put it in the (proper) lower slot. It shows fine in the upper one, but that's not where it goes if I want the DVD player to work. I can get other cards (a USB/Firewire card and an Aria extreme card) to show up fine in the lower slot. In short, I can't tell if it's the card, or the cage that is the problem. Or if it's something else.
I replaced the PCMCIA cage the 2nd time (about 2 years after the first replacement) as it would no longer accept cards, and if I touched the machine wrong when playing a DVD, the screen would turn an ugly muddy green color and I'd have to reboot. It would also sometimes do that on its own without being jostled. It got more finicky as it got hotter. Could something on the logic board be a problem?
I've tried using the player in both 8.6 and 9.2.2, but the card doesn't appear when in the lower slot in either one. Any ideas before I fiddle with trying yet another card cage?

    Maureen,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
It is curious that the DVD Decoder PC card would stop working at the same time you replaced the card cage. According to Apple, if other PC cards work in the lower slot, then the problem lies with the DVD Decoder card.
Just out of curiosity, shut down the Wallstreet, then perform a PRAM reset from a cold start. After releasing the keys for the PRAM reset, immediately press the shift key so no extensions load. If you then insert a PC card in either slot, you should get a message like "the necessary software to support this card is not present...do you wish to eject it?" Click 'no' and the card should still mount on the desktop with a generic icon. See if there is any difference when inserting the decoder card in the lower slot. Possibly a PRAM reset and/or extension conflict is causing a problem.
Are you sure you have all the DVD software components loading?

the new iPad with 4g does it have to have a sim card in the slot for it to work so sometimes i can have4g and sometimes i cant

For it to work(iPad) no. You do have to have it in to get data when your not connected to wifi. If it doesn't say 4g all the time that is because of the location your in. If your connected to wifi, the iPad will use the wifi connection first before using your data plan.

  • HT204392 Mistakenly dropped media card into DVD Slot..How do I get it out?

Help, dropped a media card into my DVD slot.  How do I remove it?

ok..I was able to remove the media card by propping up the computer on its side on two 4x4 lumber, then reached
in the slot with a thin feeler guage and pulled it out.  The slot has a flexible boot of sort which inhibits the
    media card from falling out.

  • TS2097 SD card in CD slot

I inadvertantly slipped an SD card into the CD/DVD drive slot.  Can't see it but it's close to the slot, maybe dropped a little.  Anyideas beside taking it in to a service center?

Gently use an unbent paper clip - into a L sort of shape - and "fish" it out.  Will take a few goes - GENTLY does it.  I've done this twice now - and wish the SD slot wasn't so close to the CD slot!!
