Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?...  or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

  • Internal Card Reader Driver Will Not Install -- Pavilion g4-1319tu

    1. Product Name and Number: HP Pavilion g4-1319tu
    2. Operating System installed: Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit
    3. Error message: none
    4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred: none
At first my card reader did not show up at all in Device Manager until after I actually inserted an SDHC card yesterday 17 jUNE 2012. Windows recognized the card and installed its own driver, Microsoft driver version 6.1.7600.16385 dated 21/6/2006, with the device's manufacturer being listed also in Device Manager as only "(Standard disk drives)" at Location 0, with the status shown as "This device is working properly". The card reader worked (and still works) and appears -- but only with the SD card inserted, otherwise it does not appear at all -- in both in Device Manager and in Computer>Devices with Removable Storage. I went to HP's Support Wizard site to update the driver. The site detected my product correctly and offered an update, "Realtek Card Reader Driver -Version: 6.1.7601.85" (sp55030) to download. I downloaded it and installed it. The newly downloaded driver shows up in Programs and Features. However, even after many uninstall / re-install attempts, the new driver version refuses to show in Device Manager's driver properties for the device. It also does not show when in Device Manager I try to manually update by "Browse my computer for driver software>Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer". All that shows is the old generic Microsoft driver named above. If while in Device Manager, I try to update the driver manually by "Browse my computer for driver software>Search for driver software in this location (folder where it is saved on my notebook)", it shows, but still will not update / install. A message pops up saying there is no driver in that location. In addition, after I eject and physically remove the SD card from my notebook, the device and driver also disappear from Device Manager until I re-insert the card, even when Device Manager is set to "Show hidden devices". Please advise.

    Hi, Ken:
The parts list for your notebook indicates that it has an Atheros 9485GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 3012 Bluetooth 4.0 combination adapter.

    Give these a try...
When a notebook has a combination wireless/bluetooth card, you install the corresponding model bluetooth software for the model wireless card your notebook has.

  • Jabber 4.4 "Graphics card or driver not supported" error on one machine but not another.

Hi, I looked at the KB document but the email link on it no longer works.
I have two end-users using Jabber 4.4 on identical machines, same specs, same driver build and OS image. One gets the  "Graphics card or driver not supported" error, the other does not.
    We have two DellOptiPlex 7010's,
Both had 2 instances of AMD Radeon HD 7470 - they are dual monitor machines.
In both cases the driver version 8.922.0.0, Driver Date 12/6/2011. This is the latest Dell has on their website.
On one machine when I run a fresh install for Jabber for TelePresence 4.4 it works fine. But on another the user first gets
    "supportabilitytest.exe has stopped working
A oriblem cause the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."
Then when that's closed out we get:
"Graphics card or driver not supported!
New features in this version of Jabber Video are not supported by your computer's graphics driver.
Update to the newest graphics driver available and run Jabber Video again."
I can't believe it's just a matter of upgrading the drivers because in this case one machine with identical drivers works.
I appreciate any insights, thanks !

    Hi ksouthall,
It sounds like the openGL supported version did not install on the one that is failing.  There isn't much we can do regarding that error.  Best practice is to always upgrade to the latest manufacturer's available driver.  Client requirements are below.
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit), Vista, or XP (SP 2 or newer), with OpenGL 1.2 or newer.
For 720p HD video calls, Intel Core2Duo @ 1.2GHz or better.
For VGA video calls, Intel Atom @ 1.6GHz or better.
Webcam, built-in or external. You need an HD webcam if you want other callers to see you in HD.
Broadband Internet connection with a recommended bandwidth of 768kbps upstream and downstream. You need about 1.2Mbps upstream and downstream for 720p HD video calls.
    Regards,

  • Will Beige G3 SCSI card and drive work in a BW G3?

My wife's G3Tower died with data on the scsi hd. I've picked up a bw G3 (which on the serial # tag states Ultra2 SCSI), but no scsi drive is inside, nor is there a scsi card.
Can I take the SCSI card and drive out of the Beige Tower and put it in to the BW G3? Is anything special needed to be able to get the needed files off the disk?
I later plan to upgrade to Jaguar (I've got the disks), but the files come first.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ps - I looked through Apple's faqs and kb, but didn't really find anything.
    Regards,

"Can I take the SCSI card and drive out of the Beige Tower and put it in to the BW G3? Is anything special needed to be able to get the needed files off the disk?"
You can do that, but bootability will be a problem because the B&W G3 is based on the New World architecture or ROM-in-RAM. While the beige G3's ROM was wholly contained in the ROM card, some of the B&W's ROM code is contained in the Mac OS ROM file, which is written to the System Folder during the OS installation. The OS installation performed on the beige G3 won't have the necessary Mac OS ROM file. The file could be extracted from the installer tome on the Mac OS 9.x installer CD, but that would require the use of TomeViewer (downloadable utility). Do you have another working Mac in the house? Incidentally, what component in the beige G3 failed?

  • Card reader driver for Satellite M30X-134

    Hello,
where can I find the flash card reader driver for my M30x-134? None of the support page seems to make it and i cannot find out who is the manufactor.
    Thank you,
    Patrick

Thank you for your advises. Unfortunately I still cannot find the driver. On the canadian site i was able to download some files called "SD Format" and "SD Driver Set", but Windows XP didn't accept them. I have in mind that this is a 6-in-1 card reader, so it should support more formats then the SD. There are two unknown entries in the Device manager, both are called "PCI FLASH-MEMORY". When i started the notebook for the first time (with OEM Windows XP) the card reader worked. Now i have an own license installed which didn't come with the notebook. Could this be the reason? Does anyoneone know who is the manufactor of the build-in card reader?

    Hi:
    Try this driver.
If this driver doesn't work, and you want to run W7, then you will have to install W7 64 bit, for which there are graphics drivers.

First issue: I want the driver of (mass storage controller).
Second issue: I have card reader but it doesn't work.

First issue: all you need you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
Second issue: I presume the hardware is not installed properly. For that you need to install TI 5 in 1 Card Reader driver.
If you can not configure all this please use delivered recovery DVD and install OS. After doing this everything will work again.

  • K8T Neo crashes pc with 3d card's driver

I recently bought a pc containing a K8T Neo motherboard with an Athlon 64 3200+ cpu and 2x512mb 3200 DDR400 Ram.  It came with a standard VGA driver installed, so I went into safe mode (it has Win98 SE installed), removed the standard driver, restarted and installed the driver for my Geforce4 Ti4200.  But when I restarted my pc again, I got all sorts of problems : windows protection errors, blue screens, the pc just freezing (sometimes with all sorts of colours on the screen) or messages that there isn't enough memory available to run Windows .
I tried using both the AOpen driver and the Nvidia Detonator one (45.23), but both had the same result.  I also tried this with a Geforce2 MX card, but with no change either.  I also removed my soundcard and am using the onboard sound and networking.  I installed the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers and all Win98 SE updates I could find.
I already formatted my hard drive twice and everything installs perfectly until I try using the card's driver.
It's possible to install a Super VGA card and Super VGA 1024x768 monitor driver, but whenever I try to switch to more than 16 colors and restart, I get a message that the adapter type is incorrect or the settings don't work with my hardware, and it gets set back to 16x640x480.
Is there a BIOS setting I should change?  Or maybe there is a problem with a Via chipset combined with Nvidia cards?
And why does the system find a "PCI VGA compatible adapter" when I have an AGP card installed?
That's the third day now that I'm doing nothing but restarting and seeing error messages.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    (sorry for the long post)

I installed the 4-in-1 drivers, then my card's drivers, after which ... my whole C: drive became corrupt and I had to format and re-install Win98SE.
During this install I got a BSOD but Windows seemed to install correctly anyway.
I did the above step again (installing the Aopen Ti4200 drivers and software) and got a black screen after restarting and 2 cursors, blinking randomly.
Do you want me to tell you voltage values from my BIOS?
And if so, where can I find these?
I got a 350W power supply which came with my Aopen A600A case btw.
Are you suggesting my card/pc isn't receiving enough power to work at full blast?
I indeed get most of the problems resulting from too little voltages as mentioned in the link you gave me.
And if by a "sirene" they mean a constant beeping sound, then yeah it's most probably a voltage problem.
    [edit]
Here are my 350W power supply voltage settings :
    +3.3v  28A
    +5V  30A
    +12V  16A
    +5Vsb  2A
    -5V  0.3A
    -12V  0.8A
    (+3.3V & +5V = 220W Max)
And in my BIOS they fluctuate as follows :
    Vcore  1.552V
    +5V  5.168V
    +12V  11.923V
    -12V  -12.071V
    -5V  -5.077V
    Battery 3.520V
    +5V SB  4.993V

  • ESATA card w/ drive connected causes Windows 7 bootup to hang

I installed the NewerTech MAXPower eSATA 6G PCIe 2.0 card in slot 2 (PCI Express 2.0) of my Mac Pro (January 2008). My Mac Pro is configured with Mac OS X 10.6.x. It also has 64-bit Windows 7 installed via Boot Camp.
The NewerTech eSATA card works fine with Mac OS X. However, if an external drive connected to the eSATA card is powered ON at the time I natively boot-up to Windows 7, booting up hangs with the following message:
    Marvell 88SE91xx Adapter - BIOS Version 1.0.0.1003.
    Initializing...
If the external drive is OFF at the time I boot-up Windows 7, boot-up doesn't hang. I get the following message during bootup:
    Disk Information:
    No hard disk detected!
Then, my Mac Pro continues to boot up into Windows 7; it does not hang. However, I can't use the drive. If I turn on the drive (a LaCie D2 Quadra 1 TB hard drive) after logging into Windows 7, it is not detected by Windows 7. This is different behavior than with Mac OS X. If my LaCie drive was off when I boot-up into Mac OS X, and I turn on the LaCie drive after logging into Mac OS X, the drive is detected properly and shows up in Finder. I also have the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro Qx2. If I turn it OFF prior to booting into Windows 7 (to prevent a hang), and then turn it back ON after booting into Windows 7, then Windows 7 recognizes the Qx2.
So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to bootup Windows 7 natively while an external drive is connected? I reported the problem to OWC and they said that their "engineers are working on it", but it's been weeks, and it seems nothing is being done. BTW, I only tried slot 2 on my Mac. Wonder if it will help to try another slot.
    Thanks.

I haven't had any problems using the card other than Windows 7 bootup hanging if an external drive is connected to the card. Do you think it's a good chance that it's an issue with the external drive having the USB/eSATA/firewire interfaces, and not the card itself? Unfortunately, all my external drives (all of which hang during Windows 7 bootup via bootcamp) have the USB/eSATA/firewire interfaces.
I did some write tesing (large video files) using the OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro Qx2 (4 drives in a RAID 5 config), which has a USB/eSATA/firewire interface. Using the eSATA interface, I was getting 202 MB/sec. Using Firewire 800, I was getting 65 MB/sec. So the eSATA was 202/65 = 3.1 times faster than Firewire 800. So, eSATA is certainly desirable to use. Not sure how much better I'd get with an enclosure that has only eSATA, and whether or not I'd get rid of the Windows 7 "hanging during bootup" bug.... Not an easy test to do given how much these external enclosures cost.
If anyone has any suggestions on alternate eSATA cards that work with Mac OS X SL, Windows 7 (natively via boot camp and via Parallels), let me know. Driverless would be great. I've done a lot of searching around for an ideal eSATA card, but seems that each one has different pros/cons.
    thanks.

  • Upgrading Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0 Ram/Video Card/Hard Drives

    Hi there,
Ok so I am an avid Mac user, but have neglected one of my machines lately. This old Power Mac G5 just pushed the 3 year mark and I had a bunch of repairs done to it (New Logic Board, Hard Drive, Power Supply) before the Apple Care ran out. I used to do all of my editing and stuff on it but haven't had time this past year so it has just sat here and not gotten any use. I felt as if it was time to get back in the game so I picked up another Apple 20" monitor, some M-Audio studio monitors, a 11" Wacom, but feel the machine is too outdated to do anything.
Ok first off, I am looking to upgrade from the four 256 sticks (1GB) that I have in my computer with some 2 2GB kits (1GB x 2) (4GB total) and have been looking at the ram that Crucial suggests for this machine (8 Slots). Is there anything that I should look for in ram that will help me get through all of my 3D motion design faster (HD Final Cut too). I don't know a lot about ram when it comes to buffers and such, just how to buy compatible ram. Any suggestions?
Second I am looking to upgrade my video card. I currently have the GeForce FX 5200 with 64 MB of VRAM, which is completely unacceptable. I am looking for a card that can handle all of my motion work along with rendering in Final Cut, something with 256MB of VRAM or more.. I want something that has 2 DVI connections so I don't need an adapter like I currently do with this card to hook up both Apple displays. Suggestions?
Lastly I am looking to up my storage space on this beast. I currently have a brand new 160GB main HDD (Courtesy Apple Care) and a 250GB Maxtor internally. I would really like to have at least a TB of storage. My question is wether I should just keep the 160 for the main boot up drive and apps along with minimum documents to keep the speeds faster, and get a 500 internal and 500 exclosure, or get two 500's for internal?

    Hi-
With RAM, fancy isn't necessary, compatible is. Buffers aren't supported, so stick with the recommended memory. Memory should be 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMMs that are 2.5 volt, unbuffered, 8-byte, nonparity, and DDR400-compliant (PC3200).
Important: DIMMs with any of the following features are not supported in the Power Mac G5 computer: registers or buffers, PLLs, ECC, parity, or EDO RAM.
For two DVI outputs, and the power to run your software, the only choices are the Geforce 6800GT and the Geforce 6800 Ultra. For a bit less money, but requires an ADC to DVI adapter for second DVI, the Radeon X800XT will help with the softwares needs. These benchmarks will help you see the performance of the cards.
For storage, the 160gb will work for OS and applications, but you might as well add two 500gb-750gb drives. The new, enterprise drives have great performance, and though larger, will most probably work faster as a startup drive than the 160gb drive. These benchmarks are from a Mac Pro test, but the results illustrate the speed of the larger drives.
The Western Digital SE16 series, or the Seagate ES series offer excellent performance and reliability. See Storage Reviews. For a 1tb drive, see this article.
Of course, whatever you install, add enough external for full backup capabilities.

The Life Drive sees the card ok and it is visible on the Life Drive Manager, however, it is not showing when in Drive Mode.  Using XP, my computer only shows Life Drive but not the card.
