SD card inserted in disk slot, disk inserted on top of it
Slipped SD card into disk slot by mistake, couldn't fish it out and it fell in, now way to eject. Eject and restart with mouse doesn't work, the Utilities/Terminal instructions posted here didn't work for me. Slipped a blank dvd in to see if it would drag the SD out with it upon eject but will not eject with any of these methods either. Please help.

IPhoto crashing with camera card inserted into reader......
I replied to another thread regarding iPhoto crashing this morning, the first time that I have attempted to import photos into the newest iPhoto. After posting my replies, I noted that the question had been answered and I don't want this topic to die because it's still an issue with me to a certain extent. So here goes again... I have had 6 crashes this morning when I attempted to import photos with my camera card inserted. It crashed each time. Four of the 6 times I was able to report to Apple about the crashes- the first 2 times the report to Apple box didn't come up after clicking on Report. My work around until Apple fixes this bug is to not have iPhoto open when my camera card is inserted. I drag my photos from the camera card to my desktop, remove card, open iPhoto and import the pictures. Of course the downside is that I can't 'split' the photos into different events...... I hope Apple comes up with a fix for this bug. Judy

You can split into events when importing from the Finder/Desktop. Go into iPhoto's Events preference section and check the Finder check box. They will then be split in accordance with the criteria set in that section, i.e. 1-day, 1-week, etc.
To try to find the problem try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, from your User/Library/Preferences folder.
Next, if necessary, boot into Safe Mode and see if you can import successfully. If you can then your account is at fault. In that case one possible fix is the following:
Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
If that doesn't work then a reapplication of of the 10.4.10 COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions might do the trick.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
I stuck a flash drive in the disk slot. Any ideas on retrieving it???

Was there a memory card inserted at the time the error appeared?
How is the printer connected to the computer?
What operating system does the computer use?
Does the printer still function or does the error prevent it from functioning?

I've acquired a n800 few days ago (through Nokia's website), but yesterday the External slot stopped to be recognized by the N800.
The card used for it work (both on my PC & in the internal slot), but won't be recognized when plugged in the external slot of the n800. I always have the "No memory card inserted".
I did not misused the n800, just played some MP3 and browsed the web.
After this happened I wanted to investigate a little more and installed Xterm. Here is what I have in /etc/fstab:
rootfs / roofs defaults,errors=remount-ro.noatime 0 0
/dev/mmcblk0p1 /media/mmc1 vfat rw,noauto,nodev,noexec,nosuid,utf8,uid=29999 0 0
Where is the other SD slot?
Is it a software problem? or is it hardware?

MaxMax, you are not alone.....
I have two Transcend 8GB SDHC Class 6 memory cards installed. BOTH of them have crashed. I'm not sure when but my music disappeared and when I went to CONTROL PANEL then MEMORY it reported no memory cards were installed.
Take out both cards.
REMOVE THE BATTERY for 5 minutes to kill the hardware power.
Replace the battery and reboot the device.
When reboot is over, install the internal card
Install the external card
Open Control Panel
Open Memory in Control Panel
See if it now sees both cards like mine does.
I hope this crash was not normal. I think we have a hardware/OS bug.
My OS2007 is fully upgraded to the latest revision. -

Hello. I bought on Dec. 17th 2007 at Orange shop in Beausoleil (south France) an iPhone with the option of unlocking the Sim (100 Euro plus). I followed all instructions. Everything was perfect, on Dec. 24th I was able to unlock the iPhone and used with Orange sim, MonacoTelecom sim and Vodafone sim. BUT the iPhone had a problem: when in sleep mode it did't received calls. So Afer 24 hours I stopped to use, UNSAFE. After Christmas holidays I called Apple assistance, they send me UPS and I returned iPhone to Apple (Jan. 4th 2008). I received a NEW iPhone on Jan. 8th 2008, VERY RUSH. Perfect service, I thought (...making terrible error...). The iPhone was LOCKED and I wasn't able to use. Now starts all the problems and for this reason I'm writing.
I called Apple and Orange many times. Orange didn't received the documents from Apple for the changing of IMEI and Serial, for them I had the first iPhone. After many cals finally I asked Apple to send something official for the changing.
....Days goes on and on.......
Every day two times I called Orange, but evert time I received different versions of my situation. Everyday I tried to restore the iPhone but still simlocked.
On Jan.15th after a meeting with a lawyer I decided to make pression to Apple: infact I returned them an unlocked iPhone and I received back a locked one.
I finally was able to speak with a "supervisor" (Mr. F...) and he tried to solve the problem.
On Jan. 16th I spoke with another "supervisor" (Mr. J...) and he told me to make another time the restore, because they changed the firmware.
From now I tried to make the restore many times with Orange sim. Everything seems to go well but when I put another sim on iTunes there is a white page with:
"THE SIM CARD INSERTED IN THIS IPHONE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SUPPORTED. Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please etc etc....".
So the iphone is locked!!! Maybe is country locked, I don't know.

From Apple they told me to wait someting from US, but until now ..... nothing, I received no news from Apple.
The bad situation is that after more than 30 days after the buy I am not able to use the hardware I bought!
I hope that someone from Apple can read this post (sorry if is so long, but with this details I think that in Apple can understand the problem).
I send in warranty an hardware with certain features that I payed to Apple and I received back it with different features.
That's not serious.
After many days, next week I think to go by legal means if Apple France is'nt able to solve the issue.

Many thanks if someone help me.But who has to make another unlock? Orange told me that for them is ok and the phone is unlocked. I read on other pages that Apple has a world-database with Imei numbers. So seems Apple can also do the unlock, even for the fact that they returned me a locked phone, different from the one I sent them. The warranty is with Apple, I forgot to warite in my first post that first of all on Janauary I went to Orange shop where I bought the iPhone but they told me for every problem is Apple that has to solve.

This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked.It sounds like you or someone else hacked the phone to unlock it. Updating it locked it to the original carrier.
How did you unlock it? The ONLY legitimate way is to ask the carrier it is locked to to unlock it. Any other way requires hacking or jailbreaking the phone. -
Got a clicker-wheel iPod and it's playback of music is being interrupted by sporadic freezing when the unit goes into some sort of photo download routine and then comes up with error "No Card Inserted". I see there are others out here with this issue, but there seems to be no answers...from the community nor from Apple. Is there a fix posted somewhere that I've not scoured?
And the 5-R's don't do it. I'm on iPod software 3.1.1 (the latest). I've got Photo Import set to OFF on the iPod...why do I even have this dang option since this iPod doesn't even do photo's? Perhaps, APPLE, this is the bug??? Can it be so simple?

G4 DA and Pismo Panther and TigerI have the same problem, it started right after I plugged into a Logiix charger that a bud had. His ipod is also suffering the same problem. Too bad for me we figured this out later. Have you ever plugged into a non Apple charger?
I also tried reloading an older version to no avail as it gave me the error message when I disconnected the ipod from the computer.
Is there a way to completly clear the ipod hard drive, other than a restore. -

Ipad won't connect to itunes with sim card inserted
I have an interesting situation.
I bought a second hand Ipad 32GB WiFi + 3G from a user who was upgrading to the iPad 2. They kept their SIM card and we purchased a replacement SIM card from AT&T's website. (The original SIM card was also from AT&T)
Without the SIM card inserted, the Ipad works perfectly, the same as my other WiFi-only Ipads do. When I insert the SIM card, however, even with the 3G service turned off in settings, Windows & ITunes will no longer even recognize that the Ipad is connected (that's to say powering off the Ipad, installing SIM card, powering Ipad back up and then connecting it w/ the same known working USB Sync cable).
Anyone have any ideas? Right now I'm not even worried about using the 3G, I'd just like to have the SIM card installed so that the 3G can be setup & activated if / when it's needed and we're out and about. Besides not being recognized by the PC, the Ipad w/ SIM card installed works perfectly well on it's own, but (obviously) I'm unable to sync anything to / from it, or back it up in iTunes.
Hoping someone can point me in the direction of something obvious that I've missed.The only idea/suggestion I have is that you do a reset of your iPad, with the SIM card installed: Press Home + sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until the white Apple logo appears.

I have an iPhone 3GS and was trying to restore it...
Now it won't let me activate my phone and my itunes tells me I have no SIM card inserted when I do.
Any ideas on how to get it working again?This means that the phone was previously hacked to carrier unlock (unauthorized unlock), and when you restored, the hack was removed and it became re-locked to its original carrier. It will now accept a SIM card only from that carrier.
Your only option is to contact the carrier it's locked to and enquire if they will provide authorized unlocking. Not all carriers will unlock and those that do usually have requirements and qualifications - i.e. you have to be a current or former customer in good standing. -

Hi all--
Bought an iPhone 5 off ebay. It's totally wiped, and when I go to activate, I get a "Sim Not Valid" error on the phone, and "sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported" in iTunes.
It is an AT&T phone, and has an AT&T sim in it. Talked to AT&T, and they said it just needed to be unlocked. I got the seller to go through that process. However, the last step for unlocking is:
1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have Internet connectivity.
2. Ensure the original SIM card that came with this device is inserted in your iPhone.
3. Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
4. Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes.
I assume ideally, the seller was supposed to still have the phone and complete the unlock himself. But I have the phone and cannot backup and restore because I get the sim error in iTunes which blocks me from doing anything as far as I can tell.
Am I missing a step? Is there any way for me to complete the unlock, or do anything at all to get this phone working even as an iPod, other than sending it back to the seller?

The symptoms you describe are typical of a phone that was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it at some point. Very often after doing so, when the phone is restored, it becomes completely unable to activate even on the carrier it was originally locked to. -

what can in do?Well unfortunatly that advice does not always work. I bought a unlocked iphone4 from apple several years ago and went to att on a no contract basis. Six months later the phone crashed while updating the operating system. Apple replaced the phone with a new one. All is fine till I got a iphone5 and gave te phone to my cousin. The phone is now locked to att but att says the IMEI number is not a valid ATT IMEI and therfore cant unlock it. Apple says there is nothing They can or are willing to do so now I am stuck for a 600.00 phone that can't be used.
If anyoun knows a way naround this situation mI would appreciate a heads up. -
Ipod 30 GB and Canon SD450 - No Card Inserted
I have a 30 GB Color ipod and recently purchased the photo connector. My Canon SD450 digital camera is listed as one of the compatible cameras, but when I connect the camera via the cable/connected, I get this message "No Card Inserted" message and the photos don't get imported. Has anyone run into this?

There doesn't appear to be any way to cancel a post but you can delete all the content by editing it within 15 minutes.
You should see an icon to the left of the usual ones (Replay & Email) after you have posted which you click to go to edit mode.
