Sd card not formatted after ovi maps update

Hi.
I have a problem with my N82 Series Nokia.
I wanted to update my maps via Ovi Software. I do this and it worked fine.
Afterwards I tried to check the new maps but only a green area appeared. I accessed the sd card in the phone and only get the message "card full" (or something).
Now I turned off the cellphone and put the sd card into my pc. But Windows just ask to format the card because it is not formatted.
This is really very "unfunny" ... all data on the card are lost? I just wanted to update the maps. On a other thread I read that only a few maps (maybe not whole europe) can stored on the cards. That ok, but the Ovi software has to take care about this not the user. The sw has to check the free space and what you want to download.
If windows says, that I have to format the card than I have a other chance or is there no chance to get the card with the stored data working?

Hej again.
I tried now Recuva. Thanks for this tipp. It´s an excellent program!
But this does not help!
Recuva restores 5 files (only mp3 / wav files).
They are all for the navigation with the maps.
My interpretation:
The Ovi software downloaded the maps and just store all on the sd card and store and store and does not proof if the disc is full or not?
And so it copied all on the card until it was "overfull".
I am a computer scientist and I can´t realize why this will appear in a "crash" of the sd card (maybe the partitioning and index is corrupted) but why?
Maybe the ovi software has a failure and just copied all to the card anyway if there are other files or enough space or not ...
Another problem (maybe) is, that I download it via Bluetooth. I don´t realize in the bginning that the cards are so big and the SW said don´t break the connection while downloading. So it takes a few hours.
I think your development team for the Ovi-Software have to check this case and here are my information to reproduce the problem:
Nokia N82 cellphone
Data from: *#0000#: V 20.0.062 28-02.08 Nokia N82 (96.01)
Computer:
Windows XP Media Center Edition SP 3 (on Dell Notebook)
Connection via Bluetooth
Updating on Ovi Software
What is the next step now?
It is ok when I just format the sd card and put it back in the phone? Create the phone on it´s own a directory-structure (maybe for images from the cam and so on ...)?
When I have to format it ... in which format? I saw in Recuva that it is/was FAT16 formatted, is that right?

SD Card not showing after Mountain lion Update
Since the update to Mountain Lion, the SD slot does not show up in Finder.
Someone gave a fix using the killall in Terminal, and that worked only once.  I have not been able to get that fix to work again.
The only saving grace for me is that my SD Card us is always from my Nikon camera, and Nikon ViewNX 2 software is able to see and read from the card.
Killall may have worked partially in that I no longer get the error message telling me that I have removed the SD card improperly, and need to dismount it first.
However, Finder still cannot see it.

Those are basics ... Been there, done that, first.
Then you should hava posted all the troubleshooting you already accomplished.
Does the card show up in System Information? Or is that another one of the "basics" you've already looked into?
Does it show up in Disk Utility? If so, have you tried formatting it there to determine if it is a formatting problem?

  • Airport card not detected after s/w update was interrupted by power outage

    Hi Folks,
My G4 was connecting to the internet thru a wi-fi AP at a B&B I am staying at. Bought the SP's access card from front desk and got online.
Started updating software and the network went down due to a power outage.
Since then was not able to get online as G4 refused to accept the DHCP address from the AP. Tried the latest security update for 10.3.9 and now the bluetooth and airport card are nopt detected even though the Sys Profiler says they are present.
Dont think I need to re-seat the airport as nothing was physically wrong.
Please Help! Is there a way out other than a reinstall of the OS ??
    Thanks,
    Powerbook G4 15"   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Don,
There are aironet AP's installed all over the B&B. Just need to get connected to the n/w and start browsing. when one starts browsing the login page comes up which needs the info contained in the purchased card.
Have not had a chance to do more as am relocating as part of a new job and have been very busy. So what you suggested at my end (not on AP end) has been done by default : )
I also tried rolling back the system config to a previous backup. that helped recover the bluetooth and airport h/w. it was showing up and detected but the DHCP issue did not go away. I tried a complete reinstall (erase and install)of 10.3 and the DHCP issue is still there.
now a self assigned IP is being used and for some reason the DHCP address is not being accepted/used by the laptop.
everyone else in the B&B is doing well. and all are on windows
is there anything else i could try??
    thanks,

  • X-6-00 is not recognized after OVI software update...

    Hello,
some days before, everything was so fine until ove player decided to update itself on my pc. and on its way, it updated the cable driver, and since then my X6 device is unable to connect via cable !
    that is so frustrating really
    please help
    i am using windows vista
this is the error i am getting:
    - Make sure that the USB data cable is compatible with your Nokia device. For more information, refer to your device manual or to the Nokia Ovi Suite web page.
    - Make sure that you have selected to use the PC Suite mode or default connection mode on your Nokia device. To change the mode, disconnect your device and reconnect it to your PC. For more information, refer to your device manual.
    - Make sure that the connectivity cable and the cable drivers are properly installed. If the installation of drivers has failed, they must be reinstalled. For more information, consult the Quick Guide for Installing Nokia Connectivity Cable Drivers.
    - Try connecting the cable to another USB port. Avoid using a USB hub unless it has an external adapter to supply enough power for connected devices.
    - Restart both PC and the Nokia device and try to create the connection again.
    - If the connection still cannot be established, consult the Nokia Ovi Suite FAQ Search on the Nokia web site.

it is solved, i uninstalled the cable driver from the control panel, and then installed the driver directly from the CD

  • SB04100 Sound Blaster Card not working after computer rebuild

=SB0400 Sound Blaster Card not working after computer rebuildZ I did a full disk format and reinstall for a friend on a Dimension 3000, running XP SP3. There is no sound at all. Speakers are good, tested on another system. Model number on the back of the sound card is SB0400, so I assume this is an older 24 bit PCI SoundBlaster card. Although I reinstalled all drivers from Dell, I found no drivers for this. The Creative site has no listing for this model.
Computer does not seem to recognize the card. Have not opened the box yet but I assume if I were to remove and then reinstall the card it would be recognized (?) I then have to find an SB0400 driver.
Does anyone know where I can find an SB0400 driver ? Does the strategy of pulling and reinstalling the card make sense ? (I have really avoided tampering with any of the hardware on this box -- since it is not mine.)

Re: SB0400 Sound Blaster Card not working after computer rebuild? Thanks much for your response. Problem solved for now. I removed the board and then reinserted it, after which I was able to download the drivers directly. Some of my difficulty with this whole process has been ) I didn't know there was no working speaker in the computer and 2) I apparently misunderstood the BIOS settings for this. I re-set it up as an add-on board during the troubleshooting process. After loading the driver, I went back to the original setting (don't recall what it was but it was for integrated sound). The setting for integrated sound works fine, with external speakers and the new 24 bit driver. Still some noise (popping and static) but this board shares the bus with 2 other cards one of which is a wireless network card. May be a PCI latency issue but I'm reluctant to change that because the network card is a bit shaky anyway.
Everything works for now -- I'll be glad to get this particular computer out of my house !

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Yes, it's probably the new 3.06 official release that you have got via the Ovi Suite update which became available for N8 on the 7th Dec.
A newer beta version of 3.06 continues still to be available at Beta Labs. It contains some additional features compared to the current 3.06 release, e.g. downloading of street maps directly to the phone.

  • Windows could not start after SP-3 update

Windows could not start after SP-3 update
After I updated Apple Software Update to 2.1 and then updated to BC 2.1 successfully I D/L & Installed SP-3. Even got the Wizard & seemed to go OK. Got prompt “Installation Complete, Need to restart.” I did. I got a black screen with text:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\Windows\inf\biosinfo.inf
You can attempt to repair the file by starting Windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM. Select ‘r’ at the 1st screen to repair.
I used the power button to shut down Windows & then booted into Mac OS X normally.
I think I need to restart my Mac into Windows (using the Option key ) WHILE THE WINDOWS XP installation CD is in the optical Drive. Then maybe I’ll get a choice to select ‘r’ to repair at the 1st screen?
Has anyone done this with a similar error & successfully repaired their Windows installation? I don’t know if this is a Boot Camp problem or not. XP SP 2 had been working just fine.
    Thanks for any help.

Solved! It apparently was NOT a Boot Camp Issue. The fix was to obtain the file “biosinfo.inf” and from the Mac side, go into my WIndows XP HDD & add that file to: Windows/INF folder. (Yes, it was missing). Why my XP SP2 installation worked fine w/o this file is beyond my knowledge. Perhaps this file is needed only when doing a type of major update yet not needed for simply starting & running Windows? There are web pages stating that upgrading to SP 3 can cause this problem if using 3rd party software such as Norton Anti-Virus (I don’t have that but DO have Zone Alarm). There are also various complicated, long fixes out there. For me, replacing that file did the trick & everything seems fine now. (As far as where one “obtains” that file--long story)
