SD card set to read only and I can't change it

I bought a brand new 64GB SD card and used it for the first time today. I inserted it into the SD card slot on my mid 2010 MBP and copied the files to my drive. When I wanted to delete the files however, I couldn't. I tried using cmd+backspace, dragging it to the trash and even trying to erase/format the card in Disk Utility to no avail - everything was greyed out.
I've looked around to try and find a solution but can't. Does anyone know what's wrong or what I shoud do?
I've also checked if the lock switch was set to lock on the card, which it isn't. The card also appears read only on a Windows machine, and I can't change the permissions on either Mac or PC. I've also reset my PRAM as I saw this as a possible solution by another use but it hasn't worked.
Please help!

SD card is suddenly read only (and it never used to be before).

I'm not tech-svvy at all, so I'll try to be as detailed as I can with my problem and hopefully some patient soul will be able to give me some step by step instructions on how to fix this haha.
I've had my MacBook Pro for about a year now and I haven't had a problem with transfering photos from my phone and camera onto it. My camera has an SD card and my phone has a Micro SD.
As of a few days ago, I've noticed that when I insert my SD card into the slot, there's an icon to the top left side of the window when I open it that never used to be there. It kind of looks like a pencil with a line going through it, but it still let me transfer photos to my computer, so I didn't think anything of it.
When I tried to transfer photos from my phone's Micro SD, it does the same thing. I can still transfer pictures to the computer without a problem.
The issue becomes when I want to transfer photos from my computer to the card for my camera or the one for my phone. I've tried to look through similar questions on here and elsewhere on the internet, but all I've been able to gather is that the little pencil with a line through it means my cards are in "Read Only" mode as opposed to the "Read and Write" that they should be in.
I don't recall making any changes to any sort of settings on this computer and I haven't had any recent updates to the software.
Also, none of the cards are locked. I know there's a little swtich to the side of them that manually makes them read only, but I never touch them and they're always 'unlocked' as it were.
Can anyone guide me through getting these settings back to the way they were?
(Since I'm technologically illiterate, I have no idea what operating system I'm on, so I apologize if this is an important factor in helping me.)

The contact inside the SD card slot could be dirty. you can try to clean them by shutting the system down, get some electrical contact cleaner and put a small amount on the SD card contacts and push it in and out a few times. Let it dry for a few minutes (most of these type contact cleaners alcohol based and dry fairly fast) and power up the system. See if the cards are now Read+Write.
Also check the cards to see if the little switch hasn't been pushed into the Lock setting.
Even though these card may work in your camera and or phone they may be at the end of there life cycle. Try a NEW card and see if that makes a difference.
As a last resort you can always buy a external card reader and connect it to a USB port.Some SD cards come with a small SD card reader that plugs directly into a USB port. The only problem I've had with them is that some of them do not go in all the way on MBPs. The case of the MBP stops them from inserting all the way and or if you have something else plugged in to the other USB port there isn't enough room, right to left, to insert another device. Or you could spend some more money and have Apple Care fix it, that is if none of the above work.

Permissions on Android AT200 removable SD card set to read only

Recently the removale SD card on my at200 has been set to read only for all but a few applications. This mean that when editing or trying to save, copy docs on the SD card I get the "not enough permissions" message. Any editing by these applications requires shifting files to onboard SD card and back again.
Toshiba file manager is able to rw OK, but my other file manager fails, as does ezy PDF.
Reading the attributes of the SD card show that it is set to rw for data.p (permissions XML). But looking at info from file manager shows sdcard directories and files set to dr- or -r-.
Is there some way of getting this changed to allow access for all my installed apps? Or even some?

Found this note from zc2 on the xda forum dealing with the same issue December 2011.
"The owners of Honeycomb-powered tablets experience a problem writing to the external SD card, because since v3.2 the permissions for the files there were changed from sdcard_rw to media_rw.
According the file /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml, any application with declared permission "android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" should be included to that media_rw group.
But that won't happen.
I made a test application to show the group membership (it just executes the "id" command), and according to its output, the application is not member of the media_rw group, despite the "android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" permission is mentioned in its manifest.xml"
This is somewhat confirmed by a comment returned to me from the AntTek File Explorer developers on an interum work around for this problem (a common one since 3.2)
"While waiting, the simple solution, if your device is rooted, is as follows:
1. Using AntTek File Explorer, active Native mode from application preference.
2. Navigate to /system/etc/permissions.
3. Open platform.xml and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
4. Add an additional group definition for this permission: <group gid="media_rw" />. It will grant AntTek Explorer (and other applications) permission to writing to removable SD Card. After edited, it will look like:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE">
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
5. Save the changes to the file.
6. Restart your tablet."
My tablet is not rooted so this was not available to me, but it appears this is a major issue for Honeycomb, including the version on the AT200. Is there any plans to fix this bug do you think? Or is there a date for the promised update to ICS for the AT200, another prime selling point.

External Hard Drive says its Read Only and wont allow any changes

My IQ505a has an external USB drive attached which is an Western Digital 3200JS USB External Disc Drive and for some reason I am unable to make any changes to data on the drive because the system has apparently marked the whole drive as "Read Only".
I have set my account to that of an Administrator and belong to the Administrators Group with all of the usual permissions except that I am unable to unset the Read Only marking on this drive.
I have also attempted to logon and make these changes with the Administrator Account but to no avail.
This problem is only with the External Drive and not the onboard drive.
Any help would be most appreciated ith this frustrating problem.

Search the Internet and found many others with external drives, Vista, and this issue.
Found this fix (fix?):
Go to computer, right click on the drive icon, Properties, Tools, Check now. Deselect both boxes and click OK.

The read-only setting on folders has nothing to do with the read-only status of the contents. It's used by Windows for its own peculiar purposes. Basically, it's none of our business.

When I click the lock in the bottom right corner it prompts me for my password but after unlocking it it doesn't allow me to change privelages or give me any new permissions.

[SOLVED]External HD: Auto-mount in read-only and only root can access

So I followed the advice in http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 88#p583088 regarding using udev to auto-mount my external 60gb harddrive, and it works. The only problem is, it is being mounted read-only and I can only view the contents via sudo or as the superuser.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction I need to go to get this changed? I have already once tried to recursively chown everything on the harddrive, but that didn't seem to work. The syntax I used from that above article specifies "rw" as one of the options for the mount command, so I am stumped as to why this happened.

You can set them up with your Apple ID if you want to. You can also set them up with their dad's Apple ID. Depending on how old the boys are, you can even let then have their own Apple ID's. The one thing that you don't want to do is have them use more than one Apple ID on their iPads.
If you want to be able to share purchased content, then setting them up with either your ID or your husband's (?) ID would be the way to go. If the boys share an ID with one of you, they can download content that you have already purchased without having to pay for it again.
If you and have the financial wherewithal to allow them to purchase their own individual content, I would recommend letting them have their own Apple ID. This way, as they grow older and eventually move on, they will have their own accounts, their own purchases .... No ties needed to your ID or to dad's ID. FaceTime and Messages will be a little easier to set up if they have their own ID's and they can have their own iCloud accounts as well. However, they must be 13 years old in order to have an Apple ID and iTunes account. If they are under 13, then it's a no brainer you will have to use yours or their father's ID.
Whatever you decide to do, just don't switch from one ID to another ID on the iPads. That gets confusing and they could end up locking themselves out of one of the ID's for 90 days if they download a past purchase using a different ID.

Change field from read only and override calculation based on radio button

Hi,
I have a form in which one of the fields has a simple sum calculation and is set to read only so the user can't change it as it sets a print amount as well.
But if one of the radio buttons is ticked there is a chance that the print amount needs changing but it can be different based on a few other options so I have managed to set the field so the user can edit it depending on an option but the calculation that sets the value overrides what the user enters. I would like to know if it is possible to change this?
I use
this.getField("Quantity_Boxes").readonly = false;
So the user can edit the field when they select the radio button 'yes' under Mesh_b
and
this.getField("Quantity_Boxes").readonly = true;
So the field goes back to read only when the user selects the 'no' under Mesh_b
and in the Quantity_Boxes field I use:
Quantity_Curtains / csn
Just as a simplified division sum with the decimal places set to 0 so a whole number appears.
csn is just a hidden field that has an amount set depending on the size of curtain.

I have found a solution but caused another problem (well more of an irritation than a problem)
I have made it so the can field throws a dialogue box asking how many of the item fit into a box, the only problem is that the dialogue box will appear more then once.
For example I have made a new size know as bespoke and when I select that size and hit return the dialogue box pops up which is fine but when the amount of the product is changed it throws the dialogue box again. I guess this is because the calculation has to be run again but is there anyway of stopping this?
Here is the code I use in the can field which defines how many curtains are in the box and is used to calculate how many labels need printing out.

How to set the read only property for dynamic ALV column

I have built one dynamiv ALV and I have one name column inside that ALV for which I have to set read only property based on two column fields that exist in the same ALV,say IS_SP and IS_CORP of type boolean.
If any one of the flag is 'X',i have to make that name column as display only and
If both flag are not set,it should be displayed as ediatable column.
I have written one method as INIT_ALV which gets called when ALV is loaded.
Code is as follows:

Drive Partition and Format
1.Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.

Making a field read only (and bound) or editable depending on some criteria

Hi,
I am using Netweaver 2004s SP15 and Adobe Lifecycle Designer 7.1 with Web Dynpro for Java.
I am generating a PDF that contains a number of fields that are bound context values attribues.
Now I know according to certain criteria if any given field will have a value....
Now if such a given field has a value then it must populate the Adobe form and make that field read-only - so it can not be changed.
However, if that field has no value.. instead I need to make it editable.
I am re-implementing the application this will be used within; and the previous version had 8 different interactive forms to cater for the 8 different possible combinations of fields that would not have values.
I would really really prefer to have one interactive form to maintain with logic in it that determines dynamically if a field should be read-only or editable. (For example I could have a boolean context node that could be used)
Am I doomed to have to create 8 different forms? Or is there a way of doing this smarter?

I did a search through the forum using the phrase "javascript" and it turned out a lot posts that indicate that this should indeed be possible.
I am boggled, the original application was developed by an Indian outsourcing company that is well respected. The developer who took over maintenance of it told me that it was impossible to change the read only nature of the fields once set at design-time.
My search through the forum has turned up much to indicate that this design was idiotic and the "facts" I was given completely wrong.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... I am marking this as answered now. I will have to learn some javascript.
Are there any caveats for using it within WDJ?
I am assuming I can do something simple in pseudo-code.. (I will need to work out the Javascript version).
