Sd card slot no longer functions

I think i may have accidentally corrupted/deleted my sd card driver from off my wince 5 device as it no longer read sd cards or show up in explorer. Can a hard reset fix this problem?

Satellite L500D SD Card Slot not working

Hi! I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 as recommended by Toshiba and found that the built-in SD/MMC Card Slot no longer works. When I put in a card, the screen goes black. Then I uninstalled the device and when I tried to reinstall it, Windows reported that it could not load the driver (Code 31). I have no luck locating a newer version of the driver and all Driver Scan products I've tried seem to think the driver is up-to-date.
Before I send the machine in for a service, could you please let me know what I should do first? I bought the machine in Australia (not sure whether it has any bearing). Thanks!

First of all you should check the device manager if the SD slot in installed properly.
If the yellow exclamation mark occurs in the device manger in the SD area so there is something wrong. Usually the driver is missing. In this case you have to install the SD host controller driver and SD memory card driver. These drivers you will find on the Toshiba website.
If the device was installed properly and the device manager doesnt show any exclamation marks so you have to use a supported and compatible SD card.
Please check you users manual for supported SD cards.

HP Pavilion DV7 1240us Express Card Slot Stopped Working

My express card slot stopped working.
The tech I was working with for the HP tuner card seems to think it is a driver or hardware issue.

I tried all I know to get the slot to work, but I do not know which driver for it.

Without inserting another device into the slot the only thing I can think of is checking device manager for the drivers for that express slot and see if they are installed or reinstall the drivers.
If the device works on another laptop but continues to have problems on the first one then there must be something going on with the express slot on the first laptop.

Could it be missing or corrupt drivers?
Is there a way to test the slot without a device, checking drivers etc..

Yes it is connected directly, it does not even get recognized by device manager.
No default beep when plugging and unplugging.
IT USED TO WORK NO PROBLEM.
It will work in another laptop.
I am a tech by trade, so if I have to edit the registry, etc.. let me know.
Right now I am baffled, what can I do.

Are you making sure to connect the 1500 directly into the express slot in the laptop and into a usb converter?
When it is plugged in does anything appear in device manager with a yellow mark next to it? Is it being listed under sound, video, game controllers at all?

Can you explain more on this issue? I see by the emails the Express card slot is not functioning. What you are using in the card slot? Is the the HP TV Tuner card? If so, do you have another express card handy so you could test to see if it was the card or the slot? If your missing the driver you will need to use the HP Recovery CD to reinstall the TV Tuner driver.

USB ports and memory card slots not working

My Pavilion a6120n desktop has worked brilliantly ever since I purchased it. As of last week the 2 usb ports in the front and the 2 unused usb ports in the back have stopped working. My printer is plugged into one rear port and my wireless mouse is plugged into a second rear port and these work fine. I generally use a memory stick for data swapping or the card reader slots (which have also stopped working). I no longer see the memory card icons in the "Computer" window. When installing something new the "New Hardware Found" statement pops up but the driver install always fails. I think it is a software issue but there are no usb drivers to download on the HP/support site that I can find. . . so . . . Below is what I have tried so far.Run antivirus software. Full scan & memory scan - no issuesRun malewarebytes full scan - no issues I have tried restarting several times with no success. Restore to several previous restore points = failedRestarting computer in repair mode = failedRun the repair disk that I had made = failedChecked the power management for each usb port to see if the power was routed properly = okRemoved the case cover and carefully inspected the wiring and connectors.finally I tried uninstalling the usb drivers = failed Upon restarting the computer the last time the startup file must have failed and after several hours of attempting a repair I had to reinstall the Window 7 completely. Is there express card slot to install eSata ?

According to the pictures of my product I posted below , there is no express card slot. So eSata is out. And as I was said, there is no real functional difference between an enclosure and a cable. Is there a very good option to have eStat port?

As you said my HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex Entertainment Notebook PC support does NOT have [B]eSATA/USB combination port. So, I really don't see any eSata port on the case of my laptop, such as USB3, USB2 ports, and other connectors, such VGA, and HDMI, and so on.
However, my question is as long as my my HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex Entertainment Notebook PC support does NOT have [B]eSATA/USB combination port, then I don't know if my existing internal Toshiba HDD drive is connected to an eSata interface port of my laptop or not.
Moreover, What I know is that an eSata port can be a port inside a PC, and not shown in the left/right side of the case of a PC like USB3/2. As a result, if I want to convert my existing internal Toshiba HDD drive as an external HDD to be connected to a USB 3.0/2.0 port, how could I do as long as my existing internal Toshiba HDD drive has only eSata interface port, or otherwise it cannot be installed inside my laptop via eSata port.

Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded OnyX and ran the cleaning function. After restarting, I opened Help and once again the first screen appeared fine. But again most of the links did not work, though those under the "What's New" heading did work. I might add that I had previously tried a variety of suggestions posted in another thread, which included deleting from the caches folder in Home>Library several files such as com.apple.helpui and help.plist in the Preferences folder. (As noted in my previous post this evening, I also created another user but that also did not have any effect.) Any other ideas? Thanks

The SD card slot has hidden my pictures - how can I access them??

But now all the pictures are no longer visible in iphoto/finder/my camera - the files themselves are not there in the finder. If I take new pictures, those pictures are visible on my camera viewer, and then when I use the SD slot only the new ones are visible until I eject it. There's still space taken up on the card so I don't think they've been deleted - but how can I access them? I don't plan to use the SD card slot anymore, but now I'd just like to be able to access those pictures.

Card Slot Door

This is pretty silly question, but maybe someone could help me out!? Yesterday I tried plugging the stereo into the MBP - the room was dark though and I first pushed the plug into the card slot by mistake. No big deal of course, but I pushed the door of the card slot open and now it won't close. I imagine if I had a card handy I could plug it in and remove it and the door would close - but I don't. Before I go playing around with poking wires into the slot, is there anything I should know about what I am looking for? Any advice on what I need to trip to get the door to close? I know it doesn't affect the functionality of the machine, but I would like the door closed to prevent dirt and particle-stuff from getting in there.

The 800w is a new device, at this point I'm not sure if 3rd party retailers have any replacement parts available especially like the one you mention. But a good place to start is www.pdaparts.com or www.usedpdaparts.com

Akeva62, welcome to the forum.
The front cover, just below the red line in the photo, that has the HP logo should slide down. Once it is down it should reveal the card reader. I know that is the way my HP Envy Phoenix works.

This new expansion Express Card slot for notebooks has two sizes: Express Card/34 and Express Card/54, whose widths will be 34 mm (1/8) and 54 mm, respectively. Both are 75 mm long and 5 mm thick. The idea is the same of the PCCard, only that by using serial communication instead the parallel one, it uses less pins (only 26 pins, against 68 pins in the PC Card) and that permits the manufacture of smaller expansion boards.

SD Card Slot / USB Ports

I have a....

I have had the notebook for the last 5 years and so far the notebook has been amazing and never ever let me down, however....
Recently the SD card slot on the left, no longer recognises any SD cards either size or brand.
In addition, the USB slots x 3 (2 on the left and 1 on the right) do not recognise any SD card reader with a SD in it.
** The top right and bottom left recognises my white SDHC integral SD card reader as the red light comes on, but then the red light goes off. Once off, "My Computer" recognises another drive, but when clicked, the notebook asked for something to be plugged in.
The USB port on the top left and top right, recognises my USB connected portable hard drive.
*** I have googled the condition and I have completed the following...
1. Right clicked and deleted ALL USB slots in device manager and reinstalled.
2. I have deleted ALL windows updates for 2014, in case these updates dis-armed the SD card slot and USB slots.
3. I have also downloaded and updated the BIOS with the latest edition from the HP.com website.
I am now at a loss, with the SD card reader slot not recognising any size or brand SD card and the USB slots do not recognise any SC card reader plugged in, but read my external hard drive.
Could I ask if anyone has any suggestions or maybe downloaded the drivers at the date of the original purchase.

Your notebook has three usb 3.0 ports. Have you connected a device that draws more than 100mA to one of the ports? That could overload the port and make it inoperative. Some ports can be limited to 50 mA. It depends on the notebook's systemboard design. High power usb devices that are optionally powered by an external power supply should always be used with an external power supply. There are limits to the power capacity of the traces on the notebook's systemboard.

Water + electronics do not mix. Something was damaged insode, and the logic board may be corroding as is.
Take it to a Genius Bar for an evaluation and repair estimate.
This is accidental damage and not covered by warranty.
