SD card slows down or hangs N96
Something is wrong with data exchange between a phone and a SD card. My N96 often used to hang and was slow till I found a note in these discussions about using SD card. Now I have removed it and problems have stopped. Additional SD formatting didn't help. Now I use it for periodical backup only.
where did u get the card from/

My computer slows down and hangs after installing oracle 10g
My computer just slows down after installing oracle 10g. I have a pentium 4 3ghz with 512 memory (32 mb used by graphics built in card). It slows down and hanged even if I agjusted the swap memory to 800 mb. I have two swap file/page file - in drive c and drive d. I even cannot shut it down because it takes maybe 30 minutes just to see the "shut-off/log-off" screen.
Before starting up Oracle, when you go to the task manager, how much RAM does it show actually free? 512 MB is pretty small to run Oracle in the first place-- Windows and Office can use a fair chunk of RAM themselves, depending on which Office apps you are running. You may also be suprised by the amount of RAM that a web browser, email client, and the various other apps that folks generally install can use.

Query slow down when added a where clause
I have a procedure that has performance issue, so I copy some of the query and run in the sql plus and try to spot which join cause the problem, but I get a result which I can figuer out why. I have a query which like below:
Select Count(a.ID) From TableA a
-- INNER JOIN other tables
WHERE a.TypeID = 2;
TableA has 140000 records, when the where clause is not added, the count return quite quick, but if I add the where clause, then the query slow down and seems never return so I have to kill my SQL Plus session. TableA has index on TypeID and TypeID is a number type. When TablA has 3000 records, the procedure return very quick, but it slow down and hang there when the TableA contains 140000 records. Any idea why this will slow down the query?
Also, the TypeID is a foreign key to another table (TableAType), so the query above can written as :
Select Count(a.ID) From TableA a
-- INNER JOIN other tables
INNER JOIN TableAType atype ON a.TypeID = atype.ID
WHERE atype.Name = 'typename';
TableAType table is a small table only contains less than 100 records, in this case, would the second query be more efficient to the first query?
Any suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance...
Message was edited by:
user500168TableA now has 230000 records and 28000 of them has the TypeID 2.
I haven't use the hint yet but thank you for your reply which let me to to run a query to check how many records in TableA has TypeID 2. When I doing this, it seems pretty fast. So I begin with the select count for TableA only and gradually add table to join and seems the query is pretty fast as long as TableA is the fist table to select from.
Before in my query TableA is the second table to join from, there is another table (which is large as well but not as large as TableA) before TableA. So I think this is why it runs slow before. I am not at work yesterday so the query given in my post is based on my roughly memory and I forget to mention another table is joined before TableA, really sorry about that.
I think I learn a lesson here, the largest table need to be in the begining of the select statement...
Thank you very much everyone. -

You help is much appreciated.
ThanksIf a reboot is clearing some of the problem, you ought to check the capacity and use of your hard disk. How full is this? Anything less than about 20% space may begin to slow things down.
As for the Flash plugin, these do tend to slow Macs down with some sites. You might want to try Click to Flash to restrict the use. And as for CPU use, I saw 120% on a friend's MacBook Pro a couple of days back: too many Facebook games running at the same time. -
IiPad 2 has slowed down with ios8 copy paste is not working it hangs when you try to fill up forms ,Apple engineers you need to do something fast
Apple engineers do not participate here. Have you updated to iOS 8.1 which was just release yesterday? Have you done any other troubleshooting? If you haven't start here.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
Now close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If those three things made no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
If all of that fails, restore the iOS software. Backup your iPad before you restore, then restore the backup when you are done. If that still doesn't help, restore your iPad as new and start all over again. Most purchased content can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID and as long as the content is still available in the store.

I'm running Win 7, Firefox 10.0.2 and all my plug-ins are up to date. I'm having issues with Firfox slowing way down or hanging, let say like when going to Youtube or site that just has a picture that uses Flash. I go to task manager and have multiple sessions of “plugin-container.exe *32" running at anywhere from 2,000k to over 300,000k (only one at the larger amount and most at 2m to 8m). I have to kill the multiple processes to get it running right again.
Hi kb11,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-slow-or-takes-too-long-start performance troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of good information in there that should help.
Hopefully this helps! -
Can the wireless card in my mac wear out and slow down internet connection??
can the wireless card in my mac wear out and slow down internet connection??
Yes the WiFi card can wear out but not what you would really call wearing out like a pair of pants do. It can start to fail causing the connection between your computer and your Wifi router to slow down, IE transmit and receive less data in a given time period. And then it will fail completely.
But as to your internet connection being affected by a failing WiFi card no that can't happen.
If you turn the WiFi off and connect the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable does your internet browsing and downloading speed increase? If it does then there may be something wrong with the WiFi card in your computer or the WiFi section of your router. Hard to say which.
If after connecting the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable and your speeds do not increase then it is a problem with the router or on your ISPs end. -

Is 64gb memory card can slow down xperia z1?
I wants to buy a 64gb memory card, but somebody tell me that 64gb sd card may slow down your mobile. help plz
RayhanI have a Sandisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC UHS-1 compatible and my phone has never been laggy since the start that I have no memory card inserted.
But with Android 4.3, TRIM support is now enabled, meaning all the files coming from the eMMC (internal memory) and the SD card will now be faster to be indexed than before. (Search TRIM support for more details). -
I recently completed a clean install of snow leopard and added some RAM to my MAC
when I open a QuickTime file... my MAC slows down, I get the rainbow pin wheel and screens and menus that I try to access start to "smear"... leave behind artifacts
ultimately the movies flutter and don't play properly, and I have to restart my MAC to reset my desktop
I suspect it may be related to my RAM because I've never had this issue previously although it only seems to occur when I use QuickTime
... also I installed "flip for mac"
I purchased the RAM from OWC
thoughts? The codec info should have been listed before the comma that precedes 640x360. Seems to be a bug in the recent versions of QT 7. If you have QT Pro you can still find the codec name by opening Movie Properties and checking the video format that way. Anyway, since Perian cant play it I suspect you are out of luck in MacOS x. Not all avi decompressors have been ported to OS X. It may be that the compressor is one of the old Indeo codecs and those definitely will not work in X. They will work in the Classic environment but a lot of you folks have given up on Classic. Just in case here is a link to the Indeo codecs for Classic: Indeo codecs for Classic
Have you tried playing it in VLC. If it is not an Indeo file VLC may play it.
The Mac version of WMP doesn't play avi or mpeg files -- mostly it plays wmv or asf files and not even the most recent versions of those formats. -
Upgrade to Yosemite Slowed down computer substantially
Hi All,
I recently upgraded my MBP (mid-2009) to Yosemite. I noticed that people have been using EtreCheck to determine what is the root cause of these Yosemite upgrade slowdowns. My issue is that I am having difficulty interpreting the output file. Any help and recommendations would be appreciated.
Here is the file:

N73 + MEMORY CARD + SLOW APPS
Hello,
i've been reading a lot of the previous posts, but still have some questions.
1. i'm going to get a 2GB ScanDisk II miniSD for my N73, is this one of the better options?
2. Will this make my phone run any faster? It generally lags a little between opening apps and moving through the different menus.
3. When i get the card should i put all of my media files on the card? Again, will this make things runs faster?
4. [not listed in the subject] i live in the US and wanted to find out my Firmware version for possible updates, but i can't use the standard function, *#000# i think. is it listed in the phone somewhere? or can i find it some other way?
thanks for the help!

External monitor slowing down my MacBook pro
I recently hooked up a brand new external Acer G205HV monitor to my 15" MacBook Pro (4gb RAM) using the mini display port to DVI adapter from Apple. I have an GeForce 9400M graphics card with 256mb ram. Whenever I have the monitor plugged in it slows down my computer tremendously. When I do not use the monitor, my laptop is back to being lightening fast.
Expose` and the dashboard lag a ton, and basically the internet craps out. I can barely load websites and streaming video has become virtually impossible. I have tried running with the laptop open and in clam mode. Same result. At first I thought I had a virus, which would be very very rare, but after using the laptop without the monitor I realized that the monitor was slowing me down.
The max resolution that I am running the monitor at is 1600x900 @60Hz. The DVI adapter is supposed to support a much higher resolution than this. Is my graphics card the issue? Any help is appreciated. thanks!I have the same problem with a spring 2008 MacBook (4,1) with 4 GB RAM running 10.5.8. Using a DVI external monitor, the wireless speed drops by at least half and usually more. This is the case whether using a Samsung 2443 BW at home or a Dell at work. I've tried different DVI cables, changing channels from 11 to 1, no difference.
Took it to the local Apple store where they had only a VGA monitor to test with and, strangely, the wireless was unaffected. It was a small ACER monitor, a 15-inch or so, not wide-screen. Have had no other opportunities to try a VGA monitor, as I don't have a mini-DVI to VGA adapter.
But I wonder if there's something there?

Serial instr. (VISA) VI slowing down performance
Hi,
I tried to use the serial VISA Vi´s of LabVIEW 6 to install a communication
between a "Master" (PC104) and some "slave"-devices via a multi-RS-232 card
(PCM-3643). After writing a command, the master is waiting for a short
respond of the slave, indicating the execution of the command.
I´ve used the property "Termination Character" to detect the end of the
respond. I hoped to minimize the system load by this way, but I realised a
100% system workload while the VI is waiting. With portmon you can see
thousends of status calls to the port instead of few receive events. This
extra-load seemed to slow down the overall performance (and increases the
CPU temperature).
Is there a way to minimize the activities in the waiting
period, or should I
better use the old Vi´s from the Serial Compatibility palette to build my
own loop, including some additional waiting time.
I´m not a very experienced labview programmer (nor a programmer at all).
Thank you
Hans-JoachimHi Hans-Joachim,
I like your comment about "and increase the CPU temperature".
Make sure you get a copy of the latest and greatest version of NI-VISA.
A while back they fixed an issue where NI-VISA ate up all of the CPU. This sounds similar to what you mentioned.
The suggestion regarding checking the number of bytes at the port first is always good advice.
