SD or HD for Training Video

I'm producing a training video that teaches employees various aspects of using an XP program in our business. I would like to incorporate several moving screen captures. The cameras I have available for this job are:
1 HVX200 HD or DV
2 GL2 Canon DV
I plan to output to DVD.
I'm new to the HVX200. It seems to me that I should just capture everything in DV - edit in DV and output to DVD in DV.
I suppose I'll get to start using the HD at some point but not yet.
The moving screen captures I would like to use are of an XP program and it seems that the screen capture programs for XP like Camtasia or Screen-Recorder Gold produce an AVI file. Can I bring this AVI file into my FCP timeline and mix it with my DV video footage easy enough?
Thanks.
Mike

I see
many people shooting HD then down converting to edit
in DV.
yes, i will originate a show in hd to sd broadcast in real time and in the hardware downconversion will get screwed when the color space conversion takes place because i won't have a net return to judge my colorimetry by, typically because it's all about money, not quality.

  • Need recommendation for training video software and Flash

Can the experts here please recommend some product to record a computer screen session that then imports well into Flash?
I want to build training videos that record the screen session and my voice and am looking for a software product that can do this.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks,
    Jay

Thanks for the link but this did not meet our requirement and I hope that
some expert here in this forum can help. There are hundreds of
solutions out there but most are just screen session recorders without voice.
A couple have a feature to add voice seperately.  What we need is similar to
an actual video recording including voice where both go hand in hand with any
    seprate integration.
A video camera would not be practical, but certainly there must be some software
that would provide similar recording, both the screen session and sound?
This woule be a recording of the screen session with a person speaking into a microphone.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks again,

There is an official YouTube app for the iPhone on the App store. The 3rd Party YouTube app for the iPad seems to work well in a general sense, but then again might not be suitable for your specific needs. Worked well for general search and viewing of videos.

    Rithu,
This would be a good place to start: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff628958(v=office.14).aspx
There are also several videos on Youtube as well. I am not sure if there is a 'structured' course available for Project Server 2010

  • Can not see training videos - message "We can't find the page you are looking for, please return to the Apple Support homepage?

Can not open Training Videos shown on Apple Site - message comes us " we can not find the page you are looking for - please return to the main Apple Site"? Help

You've used the wrong name for the folder that holds the html page.
    http://web.mac.com/artworksforyouth/iWeb/Site/Home.html
Is what it is trying to find (and it doesn't exist).
www.artworksforyouth.org redirects to www.artworksforyouth.com which then redirects to your iWeb page.
Rather than the word "Site" in your URL you need to use ArtWorks%20for%20Youth

  • I visited a Chinese website for a training video, since playing it all my Google apps are in Chinese!

I visited a corporate website to view a CAD training video in Chinese. Now all my Google Apps in Windows 7 are in Chinese.... Google Transalate, Docs etc.
I have cleared my reinstalled Firefox and now cleared my cache with no effect.
Other non-Google sites work and the video did not use any Google apps.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

  • Training Video/Book for Color?

    Hi there --
I am looking for a training video or book so I can learn how to use Color. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

For strictly just learning the Color interface I strong suggest http://store.creativecow.net/p/66/stopstaring_and_start_grading_with_applecolor. There's nothing in it about actual grading or color theory or anything like that, but after watching this DVD I went from knowing zip to understanding what each and every button in Color does. It's a very good, very in depth guide to Color's settings and UI.

  • Adobe Connect training video for the Learner and their engagement in virtual sessions

I am looking for a short Adobe Connect video on the Learners' role in virtual collaboration, communication and their engagement in virtual sessions: their use of the tools, expectations, etc.  A training video for the virtual learner.

I am currently having the same issue, the only difference is that I am publishing Captivate projects into Connect courses/curriculums.  The Captivate (v5) projects are basically a demo and I want the attendee to receive credit for viewing the demo after the demo window closes (the setting at the end of last slide).  I have tried to enable/disabe the Quiz reporting along with other settings with no luck.  After the demo closes I receive a pause icon and I want a green check mark.  Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thank you.

I will need good videos for new people on my team.
In general, videos (that as of a few days ago were available through the "Training" link from the Creative Cloud) are old and out of date. They are still advertised in a link to the right as "New Tutorial Videos."

  • What are the URLs for Apple's Snow Leopard training video's?

    Hi,
Anyone know the URLs for Apples instructional vieos for new Mac/Snowleopard users switching from Windoze?
My 86 year old Mom just got the Mini I ordered for her and she is a bit confused...

Can you take her to an Apple Store instead/first for their 'Switchers' classes...that would be far better, and it would give you both a chance to be closer to a resource you can enjoy over time.
That said, one source for related videos is here:
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/
Search on 'switchers' across the Apple corporate site otherwise, including iTunes. You might want to pay particular attention to anything dealing with 'Universal Access' as well.

How do I get the training videos to run so that I may learn how to use photoshop elements 11?

Just go to tv.adobe.com and you can watch them there. It's much simpler than trying to hassle around with the problems with installing AIR and so on.

  • Is it possible to record the output of a Windows Laptop in iMove to create training videos?

I have been asked by my company to look at creating some training videos of the software we make. The software itself runs on a windows platform. So I am looking for a way to capture the video from my work windows 7 laptop and import this into iMovie.
    Thanks
    Paul

I think you would be better off using a program like Camtasia on the Windows PC and doing a "screen capture" right there in the PC itself. Camtasia has some editing capabilities as well. It might save some time trying to transfer the video to the Mac as well. Just some ideas.

  • Questions about buying a new Mac Pro for 4k video editing.

    Hi everyone,
I'm currently looking into buying a new mac pro and I have a few questions. I'm a filmmaker/freelance editor looking to get a system that can handle any/at least most 4k formats that I might throw at it, and will hopefully last me around 7 years or so, like my last mac pro has. I've saved up about $5,300 and am becoming more obsessed with getting it asap, but am willing to wait a bit and save up more if necessary. I also play the occasional elder scrolls or civilization game, and might run windows on the new system as well. So here are my questions:
    1. I've read rumors that a newer build could be released this year, with newer processors and graphics cards. Is there anything to point to when? I tend to buy things a month before a newer version is released, and I'd like to prevent myself from doing it this time around..
Here's the Build I'm looking at:
    6 core
    2 D700s
base ram to be upgraded myself to 32Gb (2x16Gb cards leaving 2 slots empty to expand to 64Gb later)
    512Gb-1Tb internal hd
    2. Should I be considering the 8 core? I'm not too excited about the additional $1500, but I want a system that will last.
    3. Is getting the two 16Gb chips of ram and leaving two slots empty a bad idea?
    4. I currently work with FCP studio 2 and love it. Not sure whether to go with FCP X, or adobe. Any thoughts?
    5. I'm not finding many deals for cheaper ram and hard drives. OWC's prices seem to be comparable to Mac's. I want to do the ram so I have room to upgrade to 64Gb later, but are there any hard drives out there that would make it worth upgrading it myself?
I appreciate any insights you might have. I plan on getting a decent raid and 4k monitor in the next year or so, but for now just want a base system that will keep me editing and will be ready for 4k when I take that next step.

The late 2013 Mc Pro uses Intel Xeon ECC processors (error correction), and as far as I know Intel has not announced any newer Intel Xeon processors than those in the late 2013 Mac Pro.  I would not expect to see an update to the 2013 Mac Pro until the end of 2015 at the earliest and probably later than that.
If time is not an issue, then you should be quite happy with the 6 core 2013 Mac Pro.  It will do an excellent job with 4K video footage. And, yes, I would suggest getting the best raid system you can afford.  That is actually more important than processor speed since I/O is frequently the bottleneck when doing multi camera video or 4K video.
I have the latest version of Adobe's Premiere Pro 2014  CC installed on my late 2013 Mac Pro and i have used it a bit without problems.  However, I find it much much slower to edit with than FCP X.  Also be advised that if you Google you will find several individuals on the Adobe Forums who purchased the late 2013 Mac Pro and have not been able to use it with Premiere Pro CC because of either a hardware incompatibility or software issues between Premiere Pro CC and BMD's Resolve.  It is quite possible that I have not experienced these problems because I have not made very demanding projects with Premiere Pro CC on my 2013 Mac Pro.
I strongly recommend FCP X.  Apple released FCP X before it was ready, and many early users were unwilling to take the time to learn how to use this very different NLE which is not track based.  Apple has over the last 3 years since FCP X was released, issued more than 10 updates (all free), and the program is stable and blazingly fast.  I urge you to check out the FCP X training offered by Ripple Training and/or Larry Jordan. Both are inexpensive, and worth every cent.  Watch their training videos and you will be up to speed in FCP X in no time at all, and you will wish you had switched a long time ago.
If you can afford the 1 TB of PCie internal flash storage on your Mac Pro, then by all means get it.  For me 1TB is well worth the cost.
As far as editing 4K video, the format of the video will be important to the ease of editing.  For example, I am able to edit in its native format (XVAC S) several streams of 4K video form my Sony FDR-AX100 with no problems.  If I were editing Sony's XVAC format used in their professional 4K cameras, that might pose a problem that would require transcoding.  Similarly for other 4K formats. XVAC S is an easy format to edit natively because it is essentially a high bit rate h.264 format.
Best of luck on whatever you decide to do, and happy editing.
    Tom
