SD-R6372 drive recognized as Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ830S

Hello,
(sorry but I'm not very good in english)
I have a TOSHIBA SD-R6372 DVDRAM in my laptop computer, but windows (XP) recognize it as a MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ830S. So I can't write DVD-R and DVD-+RW. And when I wan't to updtae the firmware with SDR6372-1732.exe it's return the error : "The target drive is not found".
I suppose is a driver fault, but I can't find the driver anywhere.
Please Help me.
Thank you :)

Hi
As far as I know there is no special driver for any drive and it will be used standard Microsoft driver. Just for DVD-RAM drive must be installed DVD tool. To understood your problem a little bit better it will be useful to know which notebook model you have.

  • How to remove IDE MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-820S - Tecra A2?

My Tecra A2's DVD-RAM unit has stopped working (produces lots of controller errors in the Event Log and FAIL in the Toshiba utility). I'm pretty sure it's only the flexible cable (got trapped once when not closed carefully).
Whether the cable needs replacing or the whole unit, it should be a fairly easy DIY job, but I cannot find detailed dismantling procedures in the manual or anywhere on the web. Would anyone know how to obtain a service manual for the A2?

    Hi
    perhaps this URL

  • Mat****a DVD-RAM drive in Sat M55-325 is not working correctly

The DVD drive from Mat****a (uj-840s) is not working correctly.
One symptom of the problem is that its icon does not appear in 'My Computer'
anymore and it does not recognise CDs.
I went to the Drive's properties through the Device Manager and saw the following message:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
Following the Troubleshooter instruction, I have tried updating my driver through
the Device Manager but it tells me that the current driver is the most up to date version.
In the Drive's properties I found that my driver version is: 5.1.2535.0
I have RecordNow from Sonic/Roxio that came preinstalled on the computer.
Is this a simple problem that has a solution?
I can not think of other actions to find the root of the problem.
    Thanks

    Hi
Check please this Microsoft page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320553
I have had similar problem. The ODD (optical disc drive) was not shown in Windows explorer. Method 1 from this page solved the problem. Please try the same and let me know if ODD works again.

  • Mat****a DVD-RAM drive in Satellite A100 is not working correctly

When I insert any type of disc, the drive lights up, but the system cannot access anything on the disc. I have tried all the fixes that have been shown in the forums but nothing works. The message that I get is : D:/is not accessible. I/O device error. Curiously the only disc that it reads without any problem is the recovery disc. Unfortunately a system recovery did no solve the problem.

    Hi there,
if you got still warranty then it would be necessary in your case to bring/send your machine to a local toshiba servicepartner for a hardwarecheckup. But even if you dont have warranty anymore you should do that because your issues sounds like a hardware failure.
If you need some help finding a service partner then I can provide you a link where you can find the nearest one:

  • Mat****a DVD-Ram UJ-841S comes up with multiple error messages

My laptop is relatively new, I've been Burning some Video files to DVD-RWs and suddenly my DVD drive has stopped working. It come up with multiple error messages ''format failed due to media damage'', ''format failed due to general failure'' and ''the disk inserted is READ ONLY''.
I also can't rip music from disks.

By ODD the simply optical drive is meaning
You could try to remove the drive from the device manager. Then reboot your unit and then the drive should be recognized again. Check if you can burn another medias
But if you are not able to burn ONLY the DVD-RW in my opinion its not a hardware malfunction.
The RW medias must be firstly formatted before burning.
    > 'format failed due to media damage'', ''format failed due to general failure'' and ''the disk inserted is READ ONLY''
The error messages in your first posting bake up my suggestion
Furthermore you have to check different brands. Not all medias are supported!

*Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.*
I have checked and there was no solution.

  • Mat****a DVD-Ram UJ-841s unable to read CD-R`s

    Hi,
I purchased my Notebook about 8 weeks ago but I am unable to view any pictures on any discs that I have inserted in my laptop.
When I insert a cd-r in the drive the laptop recognises there is a disc in the drive but when I open the D drive there is now images inside.
I know it is nothing to do with the picture package because one of the cd-r`s was made using the same package as the one I have on my laptop.
Also I am able to watch DVD`s and listen to music cd`s.
I would love to hear any advice on offer as how I can fix this strange problem.
    Cheers,
    Dave.

    Hi Dave
Sorry but I am a little bit confused with your posting. You wrote you can watch DVDs and listening audio CD. I presume your drive works fine. Please be sure that all pictures are saved on CD as data. I dont know what you mean with picture package but if the CD is created as data disc there should not be any problems.

  • Drivers corrupt for "MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ820S

    Hi
Need SERIOUS help on finding the drivers as i cannot use my drive at all :(
    Please PLEASE help.
    Thanks again,
    Brad :)

    Hi Brad,
You don't say what operating system you have but if you are using Windows 2000 or XP then you should not need any additional drivers for your DVD ROM.
I suggest you delet the DVD ROM from Device Manager and then use the Search for new hardware option to let the OS find and reinstall it.

  • T60 HDD res. partition, USB ports and DVD-RAM drive no longer recognizing data/media!

I have a base installation of the IBM T60.. I made no modifications to the setup or configuration of how the HDD is structured nor have I downloaded and installed any strange drivers... only automatically downloaded drivers from Microsoft update and manually downloaded driver updates from the Lenovo website.
One day everything was working fine.  Next day, my USB devices, reserved partition (can't remember what this is called) and the DVD-RAM drive stopped working but power was still getting to these devices.
My DVD-RAM drive is seen as a DVD-RAM on first bootup.  When I insert a CD or DVD media in the drive, the Explorer tree changes DVD-RAM to CD-ROM in the Explorer (really strange).  It behaves like there is no media in the drive.  Cannot boot with that drive either.
In addition, I have external USB HDD and Flash drives as well.  None of them work on this T60 anymore.
When I plug in an external USB HDD or Flash drive, I get "not formatted" error message and a prompt to format my drives?!
I tested these USB external drives on a desktop machine and verified that they are working 100% fine.  So the problem has something to do with my IBM/Lenovo T60.
It almost seems like something broke on the motherboard perhaps?  I downloaded and installed the latest BIOS updates as well to no avail.  Please help.  Thanks in advance for your time and consideration of this issue.

  • Tecra M7 DVD: CD/DVD RAM drive does not work since installing Vista

I did a clean installation on my Vista Ready new M7. It had XP tablet to begin with and the DVD drive worked fine. Indeed I used it to install Vista (Home Premium).
Now it does not work at all. It spins but does not read. Device Manager tells me device cannot start. Tried to update driver and it told me that it has the most uptodate driver.
Downloaded all the drivers from Tosh download centre for Vista upgrade of M7 (which got bluetooth, screen rotation etc to work fine). But none of the downloads seemed to be a driver for the DVD-Ram drive. Can not find a driver anywhere else (including Panasonic site).
    DVD drive is Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-841s
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
On the Toshiba driver page you can find the DLA for Tecra m7.
Did you try to install the XP DVD-RAM driver from the Toshiba page on the Vista OS?
    Maybe it will works
But listen the CD/DVD drive uses the common Microsoft drivers which are included into Vista or XP.
Therefore an additional driver should be not needed!
    One additional proposal;
Remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager and reboot the notebook.
After new reboot the OS should install the drive again and should renew the software.
    Other hint:
    - Start the registry
    - Choose the registry key;
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    - In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters and LowerFilters then click Delete.
    - and restart the notebook

  • A50 DVD-RAM drive problem

    Hi,
when I try to burn into 8x DVD-R, Nero tells it can burn only at 2x. It should normally 4x.
    The drive is Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-820S, FW version 1.0
I think the firmware update should solve this problem, but I cannot find it anywhere.
    Adrian

    Hi Ado,
Did you checked any other DVD-Rs for writing? There could also be a problem with the medium (meantime problem of every DVD Writer manufacturer).

  • UJ862AS DVD-RAM doesn't recognize -R discs on Satellite U400

For some reason my DVD drive wil no longer recognizes -R discs.
    I have a MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ862AS drive.
    Any clues?

    Hi
Found some interesting info in user manual.
    *Page 78*
There you can find a list of tested and good functioning disks from these manufacturers.
    CD-R:
TAIYO Yuden Co Ltd, Mitsubishi KAGAKU Media CO LTD, Ricoh CO LTD, Hitachi Maxwell LTD.
    DVD-R:
DVD Specifications for recordable discs for general version 2.0
    TAIYO Yuden Co Ltd,
    Matsu****a Electric Industrial Co LTD.
There is also an notification for DVD R:
There are two types of DVD-R disks: authoring and general use discs. Dont use the authoring disks. Only general use discs can be written to by a computer drive.

  • Equium A60: DVD-RAM not being recognised properly

    Hiya!
I have a EA60 and my Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-820S is being not being recognised by the Notebook properly. When I go into Device Drivers it says the driver has loaded but comes up error code 41. I've reloaded the Driver and the Device and this makes no difference.
I also bought a new Pioneer DVD-RAM and this comes up with the same error code.
Anyone out there can help me please?
    [email protected]
    Regards,
    Gary

You could try this method, maybe it works:
    Start Registry Editor
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor and restart your system. Now windows should recognize your ODD correctly.

  • I want to replace DVD-RAM UJ-846S for Qosmio G20-127

    Hi
    I want to replace my Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-846S for G20-127.
Anyone knows its apare part # and any sugestion wich RAM is compactible for my machine and best plase to get it?

    Hi
You should know that you cannot use all possible CD/DVD drives due to master/slave/c-sel settings.
Using an drive with not compatible settings you will get an IDE#1 error and the BIOS will not recognize the new device
In my user manual I could find a list of compatible CD/DVD drives for my notebook.
Check your user manual and possibly there would be also a list with compatible CD/DVD drives.
Otherwise you could contact the ASP in your country and could ask for compatible ODDs
