SDDC-In-A-Box in Freedom of Choice

Wondering If there is customization tool page for EVO:RAIL to build with specific vendor hardware!

Hi there,
Thanks for your question.
The way the configuration gets onto the EVO-RAIL is using .JSON file - which is text file that contains the customers VLAN, IP, IP Ranges, Hostnames - in fact all the variables that would be required to stand-up a vSphere/vCenter/ESX/VSAN/Log Insight environment.
The supported partners will collect this info, encode it into the JSON, and the ship to the customer. If the customer wants to customize the build they can do it or they can use the JSON to just go...
The configuration process and management are viewable from some videos - some our Lead Engineer made, and some that I recorded myself the other week:

  • Suggestion for freedom of choice ? DDNS-services..

    Serveral linksys products make in the standard firmware, a very small choise voor D-DNS servers..
    My suggestion give clients more freedom to make there own choises about whitch D-DNS services they want use..
    Like
    DynDNS
    NO-IP
    SOLOLINK
    It makes for a lot of my customers a lot easer to do give them what the want..
    In my case I have 10 differend Linksys wlan routers WGS54G and not al the firmwares are the same, (differend versions, dirrerend firmwares)
    So make my life easiers and make this modification  to al firmwares..

    what i like about linux is progress does exist, albeit in steady, slow time lines, for the reasons you (OP) gave.  i find the "progress must be quick and keep up with xyz competitor" to be a flawed logic when it comes to open source.  it's the difference between having natural growth (ie, jungle/forest type of environment, where success is measured in terms of survival and adaptability) vs planned growth (ie farms, particularly big corporate ones, where success is quick and effective, but one little bug that is unplanned for or not predictable can bring the whole thing down).
    so while some things in linux will grow and show "success" (in the latter sense) and wow the public, most of linux/unix has been steady, tried-and-true methods of success which have lasted us 20+ years.
    and to comment on some hardware devices not showing a lot of success, this is a separate argument, as other OSes (MS/apple) have the benefit of the hardware manufacturer providing specs, whereas linux et al do not.  on a level playing field, i guarantee you the quality and 'success' of OSS over closed systems would be equivalent or might even surpass the closed systems.  as far as the variety of packages, different software doing similar but slightly different things, etc.  again i must use the analogy of jungle/forest life (ie natural setting) where similar creatures exist and live off similar resources, some survive and adapt, others fall off the wayside.

  • On "JavaTM Technology: Freedom of Choice"

    Has anyone else wondered what this means?
    http://java.sun.com/features/2001/08/choiceletter.html?frontpage-headlinesfeatures
    The first two paragraphs are OK but then I fail to understand anymore.
    "Demand that Microsoft include the Java platform in their XP operating system."
    What on earth does that mean??? Can M$ legally use the new Java2 products, like swing and collections?
    quote from http://java.sun.com/lawsuit/:
    "To protect developers and consumers using Microsoft's outdated version of Java technology, Sun has agreed to grant Microsoft a limited license to continue to distribute its current version of the software, provided that all future versions of such products pass Sun's compatibility tests. This part of the agreement lasts seven years. Beyond that date, Microsoft can not distribute Java technology or use any of Sun's intellectual property."
    So.... Why would the users and we, the developers, want M$ to keep supporting Java? If I understand correctly that quote above M$ supporting Java is the last thing we want!
    What is the motivation of that letter, then?
    Also the thing about opennes... When will there be a proper jdk written for BSD systems? Why is it taking so long? I am sure that if the JDK was really open under a GPL style license many developers would be happy to work on porting it to those systems - for free.

    The purpose is to make the entire issue appear to be Microsoft's fault (the old "pile on" syndrome). Microsoft is under the gun, so everyone feels free to blame everything on Microsoft.
    There is plenty of blame to go around here, on both sides. Microsoft attempted to "pollute" Java by optimizing it for the Windows platform, but in the process ran afoul of Sun's licensing restrictions. As a result, Sun sued and won. Under the terms of the suit, Microsoft can (not MUST, but CAN) continue to distribute it's version of the VM for 7 years. After that, it's pretty much up to the lawyers what can be done, but from the language of the settlement it looks like Microsoft would have to stop distributing Java technology (it's own or anyone else's). If that's the case, then it does make sense for Microsoft to go ahead and drop Java, and leave it up to a third party to "bundle" Java with Windows. A perfect opening for Sun to step in and save the day (not to mention that fact that Windows users are currently stuck with an older VM, which seems to me a reason for developers to avoid the Microsoft VM anyway).
    My problem with Sun in all of this is the assumption that Java is enough of a standard that it should be included with Windows by default. Java is a Sun product, regardless of how it is being managed. If Sun wants Java on Windows, Sun should negotiate with Microsoft to include it, just like others negotiate with Microsoft. If Sun doesn't want to negotiate with Microsoft (and who could blame them), Sun needs to come up with a distribution mechanism - perhaps negotiate with the OEMs to bundle Java in new machines?
    Just because a lot of developers like Java, and some web sites use it, that does not make Java a standard (by those criteria, ActiveX is also a standard). Sun needs to re-think it's Java approach, and either 'fess up to Java being proprietary or completely open it up - relinquish control to some non-Sun entity.

  • I'd like to create 2 choice boxes in applet, how can I can it ?

    I have done a choice box in applet like this:
    Panel p2 = new Panel();
    p2.setLayout(new GridLayout(3,0));
    choice.add("Leftfoot");
    choice.add("Layer1");
    choice.add("Layer2");
    choice.add("Layer3");
    choice.add("Layer4");
    choice.add("Rightfoot");
    p2.add(choice);
    This choice box shows all components of a furniture, but now I'd like to add another furniture in the applet, and it also has several different components. I want that when user selected the furniture name in first choice box, then the second choice box will automatically and only shows the components the furniture u selected has. so how can I make the actions between the 2 choices. Thanks in advance.

    look at the function addItemListener in choice and then look ate the interface ItemListener.

  • Combo Box Choice Calculation

    I have 3 fields.
    Field 1 is a combo box that provides the choice BZ7 or BZS.
    Field 2 is a text box (Monthly Gross) that calculates another boxes "Base Salary" * 26 pay periods for BZ7.  I want it to be set up so that If i choose BZS that calculation will change to 24 pay periods and for BZ7 the 26.

    You can set these numbers as the Export Values for each of the options in the combo-box, and then simply use the built in Product calculation option to multiply the value of the combo-box with the "Base Salary" text field.

  • Using a dropdown box to change the specified value of a radio button?

    I have a form that generates the body text for an email.
    First there is a dropdown box in which the choices are either "red" or "blue"
    Further down the page, there is a radiobutton list with 2 items "available" and "unavailable".
    The specified values for these items (as defined on the binding tab) are "have blue hats" or "do not have blue hats".
    This value is concatenated in the email body textfield which is to be copied by the user to an email body:
    Concat("Dear", NameField, "," We ", RadioButtonList, " today. ")  // Dear Persons Name, We have blue hats today.
    Is there any way to change the value of the selected radio button based on the selected dropdown choice?
    So if the user selected "red" in the dropdown field, the radio button values could become  "have red hats" or "do not have red hats"?
    Or perhaps there is a better way from the start?
    Thanks!

    Ok, so now I've done that...
    But is there a way to change that value with another field (ie when a user chooses "red" or "blue" in a dropdown box) so that the concatenated message reflects both the users choice of color and the availibility?
    I'm guessing I should probably use an intermediary text box and put
    InterText.rawValue = Concat ("We have ', dropdown1, " hats today") in the change event of the available radio button and:
    InterText.rawValue = Concat ("We do not have ', dropdown1, " hats today") in the change event of the unavailable radio button.
    then concatenate that box in the final textbox.

  • In Numbers, how do I change numeric to alfa in a formula from a slide box?

    I am creating a sizing chart for oil filters and in the formula I have a selection of element material that have a alfa code ( A , B , BLS and F) I have created a slide box to select the choice but need this to populate the calculation with a constant (eg B=0.00011, A=0.00067 etc) how can I do this? I tried applying rules but this did not seem to work any ideas?

    If you already successfully have the alfa code in a column as a result of your choice mechanism using the slider, perhaps try using a lookup table to retrieve a constant for use in a formula.  Here all the formula in the selected cell B2 does is look up the relevant constant and multiply it by 10. But it may give you an idea how to retrieve a constant for use in your formula.
    To select A, BLS, F, B, etc. I used a pop-up, not a slider, but assume you have some way of using the slider enter a numerical value and place the desired alpha code in a column.

  • How do I save a font and it's size and color in a text box as a default

    I am using Adobe Acrobat XI for Mac and can't figure out how to set a default font for text boxes. I don't seem to be able to access the properties to set the default by highlighting a properly formatted text box and pressing ctrl-e. Is there another key combination for Mac? Or another method for setting defaults? I'm finding I have to set the font, size and color every time I open a new Acrobat doc and want to add a text box. Also, the choices are not even saving with the document. The fonts already typed save correctly, but on reopening, I have to reset if I want to add more text.
    Thanks in advance for any help,
    Tom Carlson

    Thanks for the suggestions. I've got a Logitech G700S Mouse with a right click button, so right-clicking isn't an issue. Unfortunately, the I can't seem to find the menu to "Use Current Properties as New Defaults." I may not have described the problem correctly.
    I am adding text to a pre-existing pdf document, not creating a form. I would like to be able to set a default font, size and color for text, so that when I enter text in a text box onto the pdf document, it has those properties. If I select the text box that is properly formatted (not the text, but the box) and right click, the only choices I get are:
    Cut
    Copy
    Delete
    Select All
    Deselect All
    Arrange>
    Edit Using>
    So I gues my question is if one can even format a text box as a default or a "style" or the like. I tried setting a default font, size and color for "comments" also in the Acrobat preferences, but even that didn't seem to stick when I opened a new doc. This all may just be a Mac / Mavericks interaction flaw. Anybody have any other ideas?

  • Combo drop box calculation?

    I'm dont work with acrobat much so please excuse my lack of knoweldge. I have been reading all week and have learned a lot about performing calculations. I have no issues with creating simple add and subtract etc. I have been using mostly text feilds but thought this might be easier using a dropdown combo box. What I'm trying to do is have a a calculation for whichever choice is picked in the drop down. But I can't get it right. I own a window cleaning company and charge more money for multiple level homes. So I have set my drop box to list the choices of 2,3,4,5. I charge $50 per addtional level. So if I picked 2 the amount should equal $50.00. The price rises by $50 per level so if I pick 3 the price should be $100, 4 =$150 etc. But I can't figure out how to make the choices a set price. Right now all I can do is multiply or subtract, devide etc. Which is not working because if I choose 2, then the price =$100. If I choose 3 it =$150, 4=$200 etc. I have tried adding a subtraction calculation at the end of the script of -50 but that does not work as it automaticlly places -$50 in the results field which I don't want because I don't want the customer to think they are receiving a discount with that part of the service. I don't care if I have to manually place the numbers in the field. So if I should be doing this as a text field that would be ok also. I just can't figure out how to get this one working.

    Last night I realised there's a small bug in the script I gave you. If you change the value of the combo from something else to zero, the price field will remain the same instead of changing back to zero (which is what I assume should happen). This will fix that:
    if (event.value!="0") {
        this.getField("price").value = (event.value-1)*50;
    } else this.getField("price").value = 0;

  • The best PDF choice for sending pages to iPhoto?

    For years I used InDesign (CS3) to design pages for iPhoto books. I simply used the "Save as PDF for iPhoto" choice in the InDesign print dialog box and, presto, the pages appeared in my iPhoto library, ready for insertion. However, when I switched to Snow Leopard, new security features disabled the PDF choices in the InDesign print dialog box. Adobe's workaround is to export the InDesign page as a PDF to the desktop, open the PDF up using Apple's Preview, and send the PDF to iPhoto from there. Works like a charm. However, when I export the page out of InDesign to the desktop, the Export Adobe PDF dialog box offers me several choices of PDF presets and here is where I get confused. The best two choices appear to be "High Quality Print" (supposedly for desktop inkjet printers) or "Press Quality." When I compare them on the screen, the "HIgh Quality Print" PDF looks superior--my black and white images have snappier contrast and rich whites and blacks. However, the "Press Quality" PDF, while flatter, retains more information in the shadows and highlights and, who knows, maybe Apple's printing presses favor this for a superior outcome. Anyway, calls to Apple yielded contradictory recommendations. Anyone have any experience or insight as to which PDF setting would be best? Thank you.

    I use goodreader, which is fairly good, and alows for folder creation.
    In my quick, unscientific test, just now with a 60+ page pdf with lots of graphics in it, if you spend more than a second or two on a single page, the next one displays right away. If you try to swipe through a bunch in a row, really fast, you get the checkerboard pattern until the new page loads.
    AS you are looking at sheet music, this would work as you would definately be staying on a single page for a 1/2 minute or more (dpeending on the tempo of course).
    I would still google for sheet music apps that might be more of what your looking for. A coworker (thats left for the weekend already) has sheet music on his ipad and I can ask on Monday what he prefers.
    Till then

  • Changing xy graph scale using combo box selection

    Hello,
    I have a xy graph with x scale set to 10k and y scale set to 6 by default.
    I have a combo box which i use to select what the graph will display. For example in combo box i have 3 choices, A, B, C.
    If i select A, xy scale is set to 10k and 6. If i select B, xy scale is set to 2.5k and 8, if i select C, xy scale is set to 4k and 10 respectively. Is there some functions that i can use to do this?
    Thanks.
    Solved!

    Like this (attached)?
    Of course, if the data actually follows these mins and maxes, you could just turn on auto scaling and it would do it automatically

  • Pull down box/gui

    The following is also posted in "java programming", but since I am working with swing I decided to post here too...
    I need to make a pull down box with a gui in it.
    ex) when you click on a text field, a box will slide down underneath with a gui in it. After clicking on the gui & setting up info (which consists of combo boxes, etc), then you choices will appear in the text field.
    I have implemented this using a dialog box that will show then the text field is clicked. Unfortunately, the user has to close the box & we don't want any people to loose this little box behind another window & screw him/herself up (we all know there are some stupid people in this world).
    Therefore, I would like to have this as a little pull down box that can't be moved and will automatically disappear when all choices are filled.
    ...So my problem is, I Don't Know Where To Begin! I searched through the java 1.3 api and can't find a class to help me. Any suggestions would be a great help!

    You want something that acts like a combo box, but it has more components on it than simple text. Like a calendar that pops up like a comobox, but instead of a list of text items there is a calendar component there. Is this right?
    You can still use a dialog box, if you make it modal and parent it correctly. Then the dialog box won't be able to get behind other windows. You could even use a JOptionPane which you pass the JTextField in as the component and it will center on the JOptionPane over the JTextField. JOptionPane's are much easier to parent correctly than JDialogs. They also let you control their display them with more than just a quick text question. They also take care of a lot of the expected behavior of regualar dialogs.
    If you don't want to use a dialog box for this. And, you want to get fancy. Put what you want to display on a JPanel instead. For testing, you can add the JPanel to a frame or dialog box to test the layout and the look. You can also put the JPanel on a JOptionPane if you so choose to do that. JPanels are much more flexible than JDialogs.
    To get the panel into your app, look into using the drag layer, or glass pane of the JTextfield's encompassing frame. Frames and dialog boxes have three different layers to place components: content pane, drag pane, and glass pane. You can use the SwingUtilities methods to get the surrounding container of the JTextField to put your JPanel on it's glass pane.
    Attach keylisteners or mouse listener to know when to remove your JPanel from the surrounding container's glass, or drag layer.
