SDHC extreme or SDXC card work in Portege R600

Does the R600 support the sandisk "extreme 30 MB" or the SDXC card?
I ask because they seem to the only ones with 64Gb capacity. I need the maximum additional capacity possible
TIA/gary

Hi
As far as I know the SD card reader supports the SD card up to 2GB, SDHC up to 16Gb and mini SD card (with adapter) up to 2GB.
I didnt find any details about the usage of bigger SDHC cards and I think you will have to test it yourself. But in my opinion there could be a problem using such cards!

  • Sandisk 64gb micro sdxc card works in 701

Following on from user Roveel's post about his use of this sdxc card in the N8 I got one for my new 701. Once formatted to Fat32 in my pc (used the same utility that Roveel used) the card works in the phone.
The phone saves pictures to the card, views them, and also plays back music stored on the card fine. The only bug I can find is that the phone will not format the card, fails with an error message. Formatting the card reduces the capacity a little to 59gb but that is still better than my old 32gb card. See picture attached.

    64 000 000 000 bytes isn't 64GB
it was some fight some years ago... i believe than we shoud try fight back again becouse
    64 000 000 000 bytes is:
    64 000 000 000 / 1024 = 62 500 000 KB
    62 500 000 / 1024 = 61 035 MB
    61 035 / 1024 = 59.6 GB
that is the reason of 59.4 GB
    i hope that explain
    but resuming it works

  • Can not format my SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC card using Disk Utility

    Hello!
So, I have a problem with my SD cards.
I have an 27" iMac where I can read, write or format my SDXC SanDisk Extreme Pro cards for fun.
As soon as I insert them into my MB Pro, I lose that capability. I can only read them.
The option for format the cards gets greyed out.
I must get them working on my MB Pro since I am leaving in a week with my camera and laptop and absolutely have to be able to format the cards in the laptop, since I own a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera where that is not an option in the camera.
I have OSX 10.9.5 on both computers.
There does not seem to be a problem with other external drives that I own. My Western Digital Passport can be formatted, read and written on my MB Pro.
    What do you guys think?
    Regards,
    Atli

I have found a little workaround for this stupid thing.
If you remove your SD card and then log out of your account. Then in again, insert the card, open disk utility and then everything should be okay!
Worked for me on both SD cards, but I have to do this every time I want to format a SD card.

  • X220 SDHC/SDXC card reader--speed with UHS-1

The X220multimedia card reader in the x220 works on the PCI bus and can read SDXC cards. I have seen comments here that it reads the UHS-1 cards. Can it make full use of the read/write speeds of the latest cards, such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro? Also, does it matter whether NTSF or exFAT is used when the card is used as a backup device, not intended for use in a camera? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using SDHC/SDXC cards for backup?

  • IPad 4 with camera connection kit doesn't work with 64GB SDXC card on iOS 7.1.1

I have an iPad 4 and official Apple camera connection kit. Even though ios 7 was supposed to provide compatibility with SDXC cards there is obviously an issue. I'm using 64GB SDXC and 32GB SD cards - both Sandisck Extreme Pro with RAW Canon 5D Mark III files. The 32GB cards work fine - thumbnails appear quickly and pictures import fine. After inserting the 64GB cards thumbnail holders appear very slowly but the thumbnail images do not appear so I cannot import. I'm a pro photographer and I need this functionality so that I can show pictures to clients on location. Any ideas?

Are the photos on the 64GB card in RAW format? If so, this may apply.

  • Will airport extreme card work on other wireless systems

will airport extreme card work with other networking systems such as time warner cable with a router?

Note, Airport Extreme on PowerMacs is limited to 802.11g.  If you find you get a router that is 802.11n, and have devices that need 802.11n speed, they should be on a different wireless network.  Otherwise you can set the network to be 802.11n and 802.11g for both 'n' and 'g' devices to hook up to it from the router in question.  Be sure the PowerMac in question does support Extreme, and not just the original Airport by visiting this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1621
And identifying your Mac in this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3082
If you can't find your Mac on the article, go to Apple menu -> About This Mac and tell us the Machine ID. If it is a notebook, the name of the machine is on the screen frame. If it is a machine with a display and a built-in optical drive that has no name, it may be an iMac.  That is significant as well.  Since you posted in the PowerMac forum, without telling us your machine, we can't help you further until you do.

  • Does the MBA 2012 support SDHC and SDXC Cards ?

In the store only SD-cards are mentioned in the tech-specs for the MBA.
In comparison to that : The specs for the MBP are talking about SDXC-card reader.
    Thx for your answers

The MBair supports SDXC cards at least back to 2011.  It's not mentioned in the store but is mentioned in the user manual.
    From the 2011 user manual:

  • Portege R600 - SD Cards detected but can't browse or format

    Hi
I have problem on my Portege R600-10U (Windows 7 Ultimate) with SD card reader. When I put SD card in to the slot it is detected by the system but I can not brows it nor I can do format.
I did installation of RICOH_Media_Driver_v2.07.01.00 from Toshiba support site but when I check driver for SD card reader it is showing some default generic driver from Microsoft.
Also I am not sure if that is important, but I can see sd reader on the list of devices only when I put card in to the card reader.
I even tried to do manual installation of driver by selecting extracted content of carc-20091103162555.zip (RICOH_Media_Driver_v2.07.01.00 folder) but windows didn't found any appropriate inf files in it.
Am I missing something, are there any prerequisite before I do installation of card reader driver or maybe card reader it self is not working properly.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Igor

I am trying to use Kingston class 4 SDHC with 4GB capacity. A far as I know r600 should be able to read it without any problem. Card it self is ok since I use it in my camera.
I don't have any warnings on device list with or without Ricoh media driver installed. When you check SD Host Adapters, you can see SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller and driver provider is Microsoft.
Problem is I am not sure where to look in order to see if Ricoh drivers are used and not some Microsoft default driver.
    Cheers

  • Testing the latest crop of U3/UHS-1 SDXC cards in a 6D

I need to upgrade to faster storage medium for my 6D.
If anyone is using one of the newer U3/UHS-1 cards, would you mind posting a simple test for me.
    1.  Type of card.
    2.  At 4.5 frames/second, please specify the number of RAW (not mRAW or sRAW) images that the camera will complete before it slows down (buffer full).
    3. If possible measure the camera reduced frame rate after the buffer fills.  Count 10 frames after the buffer is full while watching a clock with a second hand.  (12 seconds for 10 frames is 1.2 frames/sec).
    4.  How long does the buffer take to empty after you release the shutter button.
I tested my Patriot LX series 32GB class 10 SDHC cart and had the following results:
    14 frames at a full 4.5 frames/sec.
    20 seconds for the next 10 frames = .5 frame/second.
32 seconds to clear the buffer after shutter release (light off).
I was shooting the wall clock I was using to time with for this sequence.
I'm looking at the Transcend 64GB U3/UHS-1 (claimed write speed of 60MB/sec.).
Thanks for taking the time to test and posting the results.

Hi Cicopo,  thanks for your input.
I had found this website earlier today.  The author is kinda biased towards Nikon (7 different models) and only one Canon.  Never the less still an awful lot of useful information presented.  Looking at the Nikon D600 tests. I suspect it and the Canon 6D are very similar in the speed of their UHS-1 interface.
    Another interesting site is:
    http://www.thessdreview.com/hardware/flash-drives/samsung-pro-microsdxc-uhs-1-u1-card-review-64gb/3/
The author has done in depth testing on a number of the newer SDXC cards.  He concludes his articles with a "real world write test" using a Canon 6D (lucky me).  The test is fairly simple, count the number of frames @ 4.5 frames/sec until the buffer fills and then time the buffer offload.
What I got from both sites is the new Samsung Pro offers the biggest bang for the buck (2 more frames/sec in the 6D. before the buffer fills over the SanDisk Extreme).  According to their website the cards are hardened much like the SanDisks, but doesn't say anything about ECC circuitry.
If anyone has any input or opinion of the Samsung Pro vs the SanDisk Extreme please do.

    Good Morning mykejb,
As I stated your specifications do not state the exact cards it supports.  I regret that  I am unable to give you a yes or no answer.
If you check around the card reader itself, sometimes on the bottom of the notebook, it will list the supported card types.  If not all I can suggest is try and see.   If it seems if the card is too small for the slot, you may need an adapter for an SDXC card.
Here is a link to SD/SDHC/SDXC Specifications and Compatibility( from scan disk support).  Please note this quote"NOTE: Internal card readers on laptops from 2008 and prior may NOT support SDXC cards. SDXC cards will work in SDHC compatible readers (not SD readers) if the computer OS supports exFAT. For more information on exFat see: Operating Systems that support the exFAT File System"

  • Run Windows 8.1 Pro on a SDXC card via VMware Fusion

    Hi everyone,
I'm kinda new to the whole Mac story.
Have been using iPhone and iPad from day one, but never could get myself to go off Windows.
    Well, a few weeks ago I bought myself a 13.3" MBP (Mid 2014 - 11.1 model).
It's the retina one with a 256GB SSD in it.
    Now my question is...
I have a license from work for VMware Fusion 7, and I need some programs to run on Windows.
But I don't wan't to partition my drive and run it via bootcamp, I want to keep my Mac clean.
Does anyone have experience or know if I can run this on a SDXC card?
I would use a 128GB SDXC card with 60MB/s write and 80MB/s read.
Can I stick this SD into the slot, install Windows 8.1 Pro via Fusion on this card and let it run on a decent level?
    Thanks in advance,
    And with best regards,
    Sonicje

Thank you for the fast responds.
I took a look into it and you are right.
The read/write speed is much higher and cheaper.
But, like I said, I'm nog willing to share my drive with Windows.
So I'm going to buy a 64GB USB stick (less than 60 euro) and going to install it on that source.
With 64GB I've some extra space for the futher if I need to work with more Windows only programs.
    Thanks again for the advice!

  • Airport card works in 10.1, HW test passes, but not detected at all in 10.4

Ok, Hi. I'll first admit this is my first post so go easy on me!
I just bought a used iBook G3 and it was working fine for a while until about a month ago when all kinds of weird things stared happening. Some of which those problems I solved from reading previous topics from these forums - but anyways, I'll skip all my other problems and get right to my current one.
First off here is the complete specs:
12.1" iBook G3 "dual USB series"
    500MHz PPC processor
    128+256MB ram = 384MB RAM
15GB hard drive (NOW 160GB HARD DRIVE!)
No Airport Card (NOW ONE HAS BEEN ADDED!)
Multiple OS's - OS9 and 10.1 were included (have original disks)
I also have a set of 10.4 Tiger CD-ROM disks
Anyways, here is basically what is happening. I bought an Airport card off eBay for my iBook. I installed it about a week ago. I booted into 10.4 Tiger and it did not detect the card. Tried to do the manual setup with the wizard and it said there was no card attached. I went into the system profiler and is said No info available under the airport section. I then booted to my "apple hardware test disk" and ran the full/extended test. It passed everything (including the Airport card) so I know that is not the problem. I then booted into OS X 10.1 and lone behold the card is detected and is working without any fooling around with! Instant wireless internet! So I know that the card is working, but I want to use it in Tiger as 10.1 is almost worthless. So I boot into Tiger again knowing that the card is working, and Tiger still does not recognize it! I even booted into OS 9 and it detected the card (although it was having some connection problems, but at least I know that it IS detecting it.)
Here is what I tried (so you can cross these suggestions off your list! lol)
I've deleted the Airport "ktext" files, etc. (can't remember the actual names of the files, but I've cleared all of those caches and still no luck.)
    I've zapped PRAM
    I rest NVRAM
    I rest the PMU.
I did a Arcive and install of 10.4
...All of which did not help. Again, the card worked in 10.1, but 10.4 is completely blind and can't find it!
Now we are caught up to today. I was having many other odd problems and it all lead to my hard drive probably being bad. So toady I finally bit the bullet and bought a new hard drive from Best Buy. It took me forever to install it, but I did it, and it works! Now I have 160GB (make that only 128GB detected) of space. I partitioned it 4 ways as well:
    "Tiger" - 80GB
    "Other OS" - 30GB
    "Extra Space 1" - 10GB
    "Extra Space 2" - 8GB
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- 128GB Total
So now that I have a new hard drive (that I was told would fix all of my problems because my old one was "bad" I thought I would have it working today, but no. So I put in the brand new drive, partitioned it, booted off my Tiger disk, installed it on the 80GB partition. The install went fine. So I now have 10.4 on the new drive. Seems to be a lot faster then my old drive! I did the combo updater (which I downloaded on my iMac and transfered to a flash drive and loaded on to my iBook) Ran the updater, and now it is running 10.4.11! But then I realized, the Airport card is STILL not detected in Tiger!!! - I thought the new hard drive would solve all my problems as I was staring from scratch, but no, there is still a problem!
I ran the Apple hardware test disk again, full test, and it said my Airport card is still fine. I didn't reinstall 10.1 yet (nor did I want to, I was hoping Tiger would work for what I wanted) but it seems now that I might have to go back and install 10.1 again. I don't know what it will prove - other then it will work again, but I don't want to use 10.1 so I'm not going to bother doing all that again.
Anyways, after looking into this further, I brought up the system boot log (of tiger) and found these lines interesting, and hopefully useful to you guys:
localhost kernel[0]: AirPortFirmware: start Sta f/w download
localhost kernel[0]: AirPortDriver: F/W download failed
localhost kernel[0]: AirPortFirmware: start Sta f/w download
    localhost DirectoryService[64]: Lunched version 1.8 (v346)
localhost kernel[0]: AirPortDriver: F/W download failed
it then lists the eithernet address and then ramblers on about other nonsense. If anyone needs the other "stuff" i'll try and save the whole log file and attach it here if anyone needs it.
So could anyone please help? It seems as if i've done everything, and still can not get an answer on why it is doing this, and how to fix it!
    Please Help!
Thanks you so much, and sorry for the long yet detailed message!!!
    -Scott

Hey, just wanted to post an update to let everyone know what I ended up doing.
Bottom line with the airport card I had is that is was "bad" - well only kind of. I got an email from a guy from a local PC repair shop. He told me he had just gotten one of those cards in and had it for sale for only $25. So I was chatting with this guy and he said it would be alright if I brought my iBook right in his shop, swap the cards and try it before I buy it. So I did so. Very nice guy and we swapped out the cards no problem. Right away it recognized his card and worked! I then downloaded the Airport update and ran it. (remember before, when I tried to update my card, after it restarted it was no longer recognized.) So we did the update with HIS card in and after it restarted, it STILL worked! It also added WPA support as well! We then booted into to Tiger (remember the old card wasn't recognized at all in tiger) and it ALSO worked in Tiger! I also had WPA support right away! So I bought the card and was all happy that it was all working again! I then figured out what the problem was with the old one.
My original card was one of the "original" originals. Then, Apple "changed" the original cards and replaced ones with "128bit" support. (this is all before the extreme cards) I then found out that the newer original cards (the one the guy just sold me) are worth MORE because these are the cards that are compatible with the newer update (128bit WEP, and WPA) The cards looked exactly the same, but the newer card has "128 Bit" printed on the bottom of the card.
SO, it ended up, I was "asking too much" out of the card I had - as the card I had did not support what I was trying for it to do. Where as the newer card I bought IS compatible with the update, and worked like a piece of cake. So all in all, the first card I had isn't "dead" it just wasn't working with what I wanted it to. So I'm going to end up selling it. Hopefully craigslist, but I will get more for it on eBay. so that is what I'm going to do. I'll just make sure to tell people this "story" so they don't try and do the same thing I did. But for someone with an even older laptop, an older OS, or an older router, this card will work just fine for them.
So thats basically it! Looks like I got everything working!
