One of the most annoying usability issues with the SAP business One client is the lack of good shourtcut navigation. MS Winform have a very good solution for this in that it is possible to navigate via ALT shortcuts to labels
These are known as & (Ampersand) shortcuts. Example (u201CPoint:u201D written u201C&Point:u201D in order to tell that ALT+P will go there).
If you try the same in SAP Business One you just end up with showing the Ampersand
And not getting the shortcutu2026 The Ampersand shortcut system already work in SAP Business for Folders, Buttons and Checkboxes, but providing it for StaticText could give so much better functionality. The way it could be implemented would be to allow all items a Taborder (not just EditText and Combobox an then if a staticText Ampersand shortcut is pressed then focus the statics taborder+1 = the Field).

Hm, ok, tried that - but in Safe Mode, ALT+S still is dead. Maybe some other "default" setting got messed up by an extension?
Did you change to post via ALT+S or did you try ALT+Shift+S, which works for me too?
Even tho the problem persists in Safe Mode (weird...), here my extensions:

Alt shortcuts not working for alt-left/right or for é, í etc

Hi guys,
I've had this problem for a while now… Essentially, the issue lies in the alt-shortcuts for left and right where one is usualy able to 'word jump', and the creation of accented characters like é and í using the alt-e shortcut. All other alt functions appear to work fine for the moment. The alt-left/right shortcut still works when shift is held down, and highlights all the characters that have been passed over, as it should. The output for alt-e is completely blank, and the alt-left/right output is nothing, unless shift is also held.
I have a British English MacBook Air keyboard on Mountain Lion, and I have set it to that layout, and I regularly switch between this and greek for scientific formulæ. I've fiddled around with language and input settings trying to get it to work again to no avail, and there are no shortcuts programmed to that to my knowledge. I have checked on a guest account and it seems to be account specific. Ideally I'd like to keep this account without migrating everything over - does anyone have any ideas with regards to how to track down where the problem is?

If only alt + e is not working, double check system preferences/speech to make sure it has not been set as a trigger for text to speech or speech recognition or whatever.

Hide "alt+*" shortcut hints

I've got a somewhat strange problem - I don't know how to call (or google) it... I'm using awesome wm and a few gtk apps (like xfce thunar). So the gnome-settings-daemon is running in the background... this setup worked quite well for over an year now. Yesterday I noticed that these "alt+*" shortcut hints started to appear constantly in all gtk applications (e.g. thunderbird). What I mean is that all dropdown menus have underlined characters which indicate what shortcut is assigned to the respective menu item. Normally this underlines would only appear if I keep pressing down the alt key. Is there a default setting for this somewhere (probably in dconf) that got changed?

Both my Win 7 machines (x86 and x64) have IE 10 which was installed through Windows Update. If you're running SP1 Win 7 IE 10 is the latest and it IS officially supported, or they wouldn't install it through Windows Update.
BTW Alt+ Left and Alt+Right are navigation shortcuts to change pages IN THE BROWSER (example: you're three pages into a site, it will go back to the previous page or forward if you've already gone back).
Since PDF's open in a single page with the reader plugin, there IS NO previous or next page in the browser to use the shortcuts to navigate to, hence the standard shortcuts will not work.

Ctrl-Alt shortcuts to switch modules not working

I'm having trouble with LR 4.1 (Win 7 64 bit) recognizing keyboard input properly. Sometimes it just stops "seeing" ctrl-alt-n (where n=1, 2, 3...) to switch between modules (Library, Develop, etc.). I can do everything else with the keyboard (Tab to show/hide panels, rate, keyword, etc.), but it just doesn't recognize the module shortcuts (or the arrow key versions to move to next/previous). I can change modules with the mouse, but I'd prefer to use keyboard shortcuts. This is a US keyboard on an English-language system. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Nope, can't say it's happened to me. But I tend to use "d" for develop, or "g" (or "e") for Library.
Could it be that your numeric lock got toggled somehow? What number keys are you using (keypad, or top row)?

Alt shortcut in Reader XI not working in Explorer

When opening a pdf in Explorer with Adobe Reader XI installed you can't use the "Alt" shorcuts.
To activate and use menus you can use single key shortcut but eg. forward (AltRight arrow) and back (AltLeft arrow) can't be activated.
We have tried to go back to REader X and this is working.
It is tested on several win 7 versions and a couple of win 8.
I need to activate the Explorer menus with the old Alt+"key" shortcut.

Windows Alt shortcut for Rectangular Marque is not working on CS6

I'm using windows CS6 and was trying to shrink the selection around an object with a solid background. I selected the object using the rectangular marque and then held down the alt key and clicked inside the selection on the solid background. Nothing happened. This used to work on my older CS2 version. What's up? Did they change the shortcut?

Maybe your were doing something like ths:
1. Make the selection with the rectangular marquee tool as you described
2. Switch to the Magic Wand Tool
3. Hold down the Alt (Option) key and click on the background color within the selection
The Magic Wand Tolerance value can affect the selection

Ctrl and shift alt shortcuts not working in Illustrator CS4

Can´t seem to get these keys to work properly.
For instance while drawing with the rectangle tool then pressing shift to get a square does not give me a square, all I get is a tooltip balloon saying "shift" same goes with ctrl and alt and spacebar. This only happens while using my wacom graphire 3 not with the mouse. Trying to use the up and down arrows to shange the number of points in a star also not working. But if I FIRST click the shift key then start creating a square its working, but not if I first start creating the rectangle. Photoshop cs4 does not give me this problem. Using Vista 32 bit swedish language, latest Wacom driver 5.0.8-6, latest keyboard driver and a swedish microsoft natural pro keyboard, latest logitech mouse driver. Any help is appreciated.

Fonts... there are probably the most guilty of that cases. Ask yourself: when you add (drop, be forced) new fonts in your system, by management spoftware (directly into font folder)? Notice when web browser "ask" you about access to your fonts on your HD in last time (so often last days). When you "dig" somthing in a system, at any way, you disturb his "sacramental peace" (Ohmmmm...) and it flow in other case like sensitive Illustrator or others - I think all other "movements" eg. reinstaling, deleting, etc just "cover" problem by something others (for a short time) or don't resove it at all.
So, first try... rebuild you system maintenace privilages (do this every month or often! Try Atomicbird Macaroni or Titanium Onyx or so, than...
try rebiuld/refresh/clean your font cach ( I use for this, and manage, FontExplorer X Pro) and should be fine.

Clickbox Shortcut Alt + Not Working

I have an application that I am doing some training simulations for. The shortcuts in this app are all based on the Alt key + another. When I enter an Alt+ shortcut on a clickbox object, it doesn't work in Cp5. It had been a while since I had done it, so I first I thought it might be some Windows update or something; but I went back and started with a fresh Cp4 file and a fresh Cp5 file, added the same objects and shortcuts, published to swf and indeed the Cp4 works and Cp5 doesn't.
I had originally sent this as a bug (~2/22), but have not received any response. Does anyone know if there is there a fix for this?

"The problem is with actionscript 3. It does not send “Alt” keydown messages to event listeners in actionscript inside browser. In actionscript 2, there was a utility class named “Key” which has since been removed in Actionscript3. Using “Key” class we could determine whether “Alt” key is down in AS2. Now we have don’t have those means."

Is there any possible way I can use the keyboard controls/shortcuts of Microsoft on the Mac version or PhotoShop?

I am very used to using a PC for Photoshop and just recently changed to Mac. I tried plugging in a different but the keyboard shortcuts arent like Windows version

This is pretty horrible advice. 95% of Photoshop works the same on Mac and PC. Almost all of the keyboard shortcuts are identical except that Ctrl becomes Command and Alt becomes Option (same key anyway). The menus are all the same.

This is also (mostly) incorrect advice.
If you look in the Keyboard system preference, and you click Keyboard Shortcuts, you will find a shortcut called "Move focus to the menu bar." Once this happens, you can type ahead to menus and commands, much like the alt menu shortcuts in Windows. If you wanted to open the Duplicate command, it would be Ctrl-F2 to activate the menu bar (edit that shortcut if you don't like it), then type I and Enter to drop the Image menu, then type D and Enter to open Duplicate. If there were two D commands, you would type ahead until the letters are different. You can use the spacebar instead of Enter, and Esc does the same as Windows. I just tried all this in CS5 and it works fine. The advantage over Windows is that you do not need to memorize the alt shortcuts, because it's based on the command name you want instead of an arbitrary letter in the middle of the name.
As jasdril said, you can simply edit the direct shortcuts too. But in most cases there should be no need to because as I said, most are the same anyway.
In short, there is plenty of keyboard-driven flexibility there for anyone willing to adapt just a little tiny bit.
The second advice that is not so good is recommending a Windows virtual machine. That'll slow down Photoshop, in addition to using up a lot of RAM and CPU that Photoshop really needs. The Mac version of Photoshop being native, would run at a proper speed.
The last possibly bad decision in this thread is TTro787 deciding to take the Mac back to the store, ignoring a quarter century of history of the Mac as a well-established graphic design and photo workstation. If you don't think the Mac is going to work well for Photoshop, it isn't going to be because of the Mac... the Mac is not just for Starbucks posers. Too many smart scientists (who want to use the Unix-based OS) and competent designers use Macs.
In short there is a whole lot of intolerance and assumed differences in this thread by both Mac and Windows zealots, which is too bad. Photoshop is mostly the same on Mac and Windows unless you're trying really hard to make it not work.

BUG: Ctrl+Alt+ number to switch modules only works with number pad

Really annoying, since this worked nicely in the beta. If, for example, you hold down Ctrl+Alt+1 (pressing 1 on the top row of the keyboard) to switch to the Library Module, it doesn't work. If you use 1 on the numeric keypad, it works fine. What's the big deal, you ask? Well, try using the number pad on a laptop - you either get to use the number keys or the regular keys, so this shortcut is essentially useless on anything other than a full-size keyboard.

Windows treats Ctrl + Alt shortcuts as special. They are used as hotkeys for desktop icons, and if a key is used for that purpose, it overrides any use within a program. I did a little research, and setting a desktop hotkey to 3 will cause your LR symptoms, where you can't used the normal numbers and have to use the keypad to switch modules. On the other hand, you'd probably be seeing the effect of using the non-number-pad keys (they'd launch a program), so it's a mystery.
In my testing, I noticed that the Firefox browser uses that key combination to switch between its tabbed sessions. If you're running that program, you could test to see if it exhibits the same symptoms.

Alt keys in Xorg keyboard

I have a following problem, or a wish I'd say:
I would like to have both alt keys working in xorg (ratpoison WM) as they do in console.
What I would like to accomplish is to have my Alt keys working in xorg in ncurses based program where I need to change tabs with alt+numbers. Unfortunatelly, the only thing I get after pressing alt+numbers is: a plus-minus sign, superscritp numbers etc.
Any help wolud be appreciated. It seemed to be an easy task - disable some alt shortcuts, but I am completely stuck with it.

Not sure if I completely understand this - both Alt keys work for your curses program in console but not X.Org? If this is the case I think maybe you need to "reassign" your Alt keys if X.Org is somehow changing them. Your keycodes may vary.. try using 'xev' to identify them if so.

Or maybe just assign Alt_R as Alt_L if that's the only one recognized during X. Just some ideas, anyway. Also make sure your .ratpoisonrc doesn't have the Alt+number keys mapped to something else, although I don't think this is a problem if you're getting output in your curses program.

Let me begin by stating that I have used Illustrator for over 15 years, and I have become accustomed to using the drag + alt shortcut to copy an item. However, when I try this now (this has only starting happening within the past week) it simply moves the shape, and I have to go through the extra steps of copying and pasting in place and then moving the new shape. Also, holding shift while moving a shape no longer constrains movement by 45 degrees any longer, in fact holding shift has no effect whatsoever. On top of all of this, the spacebar shortcut to activate the hand tool and further zoom tool when control is held down no longer works either. I have tried deleting my preferences folder to no avail, and I am only using one language (English) version on my new iMac OSX, in case anyone thinks these my be contributing factors, as I have read in other forums. How can a click box support CTRL/SHIFT/ALT in Captivate?

Hi all,
    How can a click box support CTRL/SHIFT/ALT in Captivate ?
    i.e., It can support click, double click, and right click, can it support "CTRL/SHIFT/ALT" when clicking?
    I need this feature because some user operation requires this.
    We're using Captivate 5.
    Could anybody give me some suggestion? Tahnks.

Although you can add Ctrl, Alt and Shift shortcuts to click boxes, they may or may not work, depending on the context where the presentation is running.
The following comments relate to Captivate 5 presentations.
If you publish the presentation as an exe file, Shift and Ctrl click boxes will work, but not Alt click boxes. Right-clicks won't be detected, either.
If you publish as htm + swf for viewing in a browser, you can avoid the right-click problem, but which shortcuts get detected depends on which browser is being used.
I have tested Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari, with the following results:
Alt: No browser passes Alt shortcuts through to the Flash player. If the Alt shortcut is meaningful to the browser itself, that's what happens (e.g., Alt+T will display the Tools menu in Internet Explorer; otherwise nothing happens). Note: Alt click boxes work when you test the presentation in an F8 preview window, but they don't work when the presentation has been published, so the F8 preview is misleading.
Ctrl: All except Internet Explorer pass all Ctrl shortcuts to the Flash Player, so they are generally safe to use if you can ensure the user will not view the presentation in IE. IE keeps most Ctrl shortcuts for itself, but there are a few (e.g., Ctrl+G) that IE passes to Flash, so you can use Ctrl+G freely, knowing it will work in every browser. Ctrl+M and Ctrl+U are two others
Shift: All, including Internet Explorer pass Shift shortcuts to the Flash Player. I have sometimes therefore set up a simulation with click boxes that look for a Shift+ shortcut key instead of Alt+, and included an apologetic prompt to tell the user to do so.
It's a mess! It is essential to test your simulation in whatever environments it will be used in, and adapt it if some shortcut you really want to use doesn't work.

How do I clear multiple overrides at once?

I have hundreds of text items that are tied to a paragraph style. Somehow I accidentally changed the font on most of the objects (the style still defines the correct font). Now most text objects that use this style have an asterisk in the Paragraph Styles panel. I know how to clear the override on an object-by-object (i.e., reapply the paragraph style or choose Clear Overrides), but is there a way to do it to hundreds of items (that are scattered on different layers)? I thought Select | Same | Appearance would work, but it selects objects with different paragraph styles. I hoped I could select all objects and choose Clear Overrides, but the command is only active when one object is selected. I'm now hoping I don't have to go through every object one at a time...

It would be beneficial if it worked that way, but it doesn't. As soon as multiple text objects or different paragraphs are selected, the Clear Override command is unavailable. Also, the Ctrl-Alt shortcut does not do it here.
However, there is a somewhat hidden loophole:
1. Highlight a paragraph that contains at least one override.
2. In the Actions palette, start recording a new action.
3. Go to the Paragraph Styles palette menu and execute the Clear Overrides command.
4. Stop recording the action.
Now select any number of text objects that involve some different style overrides and apply the action. All overrides will be cleared.
That's no consistent behaviour, of course.
