Hi Prasad,
SDM (Software Deployment Manager) GUI tool is used to Deploy/Undeploy Business Packages, Portal Applications and other archives on the WAS J2EE Engine. You can deploy/undeploy multiple files using this tool at one go.

I'm afraid the only tool delivered is the DeployView tool in the NWDS.
I guess you can try to install NWDS with a minimal set of features just to get deployview, but I haven't tested it.

To start SDM GUI, execute the following script file in the usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE_NAME>/SDM/program directory:
RemoteGui.bat for Windows hosts
RemoteGui.sh for Unix hosts

SDM GUI freezes after login

Hi all!
I have a problem with my SDM Remote GUI. After starting SDM via RemoteGui.bat, I can log in and the password is accepted.
But from now the GUI is blank. I see a sandglass and nothing is happening anymore.
Here are the SDM Logs:

I am also facing the same problem , and also read the SAP note . But I am facing two problems.
As given thread explain that Search for ComponentName 2 but when I serarch my Sdmreposiatry.sdc I found nothing.
Second I also unable to unserstand The concept of List L1 L2 ...Ln .
Pls explain step by step.

MDM Business Package : Deployment problem with SDM GUI

Dear Experts,
I want to deploy the MDM Business Package on to the j2ee engine.However, when i go to the SDM GUI and select the first SDA(com.sap.mdm.tech.mdm4j.sda) file for deployment, it just hangs and nothing happens after that.I feel something is wrong with the SDM GUI.
Please let me know any possible solutions/alternatives to this problem.

Hi Karambir,
1) Are you trying to deploy the sda from your local machine or from a network drive? If a network drive, try copying it to your local machine and then deploying it.
2) If the SDM is connecting to a remote application server, it can sometimes take a long time to get a response.
3) Can you deploy other deployable archives via the SDM, or is only mdm4j.sda causing a problem?

Problem to install mysql-gui-tools

Hi all.
I'm trying to install mysql-gui-tools but I get the following error:

that means that there is an error in build().
Can you please help me?

It's the successor of mysql-gui-tools. http://www.mysql.com/products/workbench/. It provides all you need for ER diagrams, SQL development and DBA tasks.
Package available in the community repo.

Oracle Performance monitoring GUI tools

hi,
We have Oracle 10g / 11g database on which SAP instances are running. Whenever, any bottleneck issue, I used to logon as ora<sid> and look for processes / space/ file system space etc.
Wondering, if any Oracle GUI tool available to monitor. I am not very familiar with oracle tools.

Login Attempt Failed
Error: Could not establish connection to server otisap03 at port 50218: Connection refused: connect
I gave the same password in J2ee_admin.

Are you using NWD2004s?. Are you able login through Visual admin. if not do the following stepsTry opening Visual Admin if your not able to login with username(administrator) and password. Problem with NWD2004s do the following steps.
C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC01\j2ee\configtool->configtool.bat->open it
1. Click on Secure store
2. Right you will find :
admin/password/J2E->retype your admin passowrd which you gave during installation=>SAVE properly
Restart the server and try login visual admin
See this thread if you gave different psswrd during installatio.

Please go to the below location.
/usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGXX/SDM/program
If your SAP system on windows than run RemoteGui.bat & if your SAP system is running on Unix than run RemoteGui.sh under the above mention location.
How to Run SDM gui.
On windows
Login as <SID>ADM &Double click on RemoteGui.bat.
On Unix.
Login as <SID>ADM &Set the enviornment variable using below command
export DISPLAY=<Your system IP>:0.0 ( if you are using KSH shell)
& than run ./RemoteGui.sh

A blob storage backup is scheduled to run daily, target is say mybackup. I'm wondering whether there is a Gui tool to automate revolving snapshots of mybackup. For instance day 1 to day 7 and the day 8 will replace day1?

GUI Tool for Image Analysis (delimited ascii file)

i've created a Java GUI Tool for Image Analysis. It does length calculation and locate the coordinate of centroid of an image...the problem now is how do i save the results in a delimited ascii file??

Create a FileOutputStream, use that to construct a PrintWriter, then use the PrintWriter as you use System.out. Print out the data, then append the delimiter manually after each set of data.
To get the file, the simplest ways would be to hard code an output file name or at least have a text field so the user can enter it. If you want it to look more professional, use a JFileChooser.

All of my training and self-study has NOT included a GUI Tool. While I'm comfortable with Java, I've never used a GUI Tool (like Visual Age, JBuilder, Visual Cafe). I'm confortable with Layout Managers and the Event Handling model.
I find tools un-intuitive and a daunting learning curve.
I fear learning a tool will distract me from increasing my real world expertise with JFC/Swing, yet I don't want to miss out on significant productivity gains.

here my opinion: using a GUI-tool might be easier in some straight-forward-situations, like just draging and droping some components to the positions where you want to place them and you see directly how it looks like - wysiwyg! While handwise you have to create them, add them, define the positions, and compile and run the program to see how it looks like.
BUT also with a GUI-tool you must still be aware of LayoutManagers, EventHandling etc. to use all the advantages Java offers. And there I made the experience that our Gui tool (I used Visual Cafe some time ago) was quiet uncomfortable. I would have needed more learning and training for using the tool than for Java itself... that's not the purpose of a tool!
So: if you are comfortable with handwriting, just continue with that!!!
