  • Is it possible to combine SDN account into OSS account?

    Hi Friends,
I had a SDN account and now I got my OSS account.when I want to go to http://sdn.sap.com and I will login this forum with my OSS account automatically. It seems it is because of my setting of SAP Passport in my OSS profile. It is not so convenient when I want to check/manage my threads, which were posted by my SDN account. So I want to know it is possible to combine my SDN account into my OSS account. (for example, accredit all my SDN thread into the name of my OSS account, or link my oss account to SDN account, etc).
    Thanks very much.
    Joe

here you are: Merge - User Accounts!!

  • General : new user ID not linked to my old user ID on SDN forum

I used to have a user ID on SDN forum & recently I recieved a request from SDN to collaborate my SDN account with SAP Service market place.
I accepted it & since then, all the questions that am posting into forums are being posted with new user ID & it's not the same as the one that i used earlier.
Basically, my old user ID got wiped off after this process.
How do I make sure that my new user ID posts tie with my old user ID.

  • Just wanted to say "Wow" - the new "Coffee Corner" is a great idea.

Apart from solving certain difficult "policy" problems so well, the new "Coffee Corner" is living proof of the idea that SAP is a great company as well as a successful and rich company.
To be a great company, a corporation must tolerate intense scrutiny from its "loyal opposition". We all know SAP gets intense scrutiny from the "disloyal opposition" (if all the rumors about Oracle staff with SDN accounts are true).
But intense scrutiny from the "loyal opposition" is in some respects much more difficult for a company to endure and deal with, because "insiders" know the exact locations of a lot of the closets that have the nastiest skeletons in them.  (I don't mean "insiders" as in SAP staff, but external "insiders" who work with SAP products every day and therefore know how they can still be improved, even when quite mature.)
I hope that many many SDNers use the "Coffee Corner" because it could become a "seedling nursery" for many little plants that might someday become beautiful trees in the SAP landscape.
I'm not only talking about new "killer apps" here, although it's quite possible that some could develop out of scribbles on napkins at the Coffee Corner.
Nor am I just talking about new "approaches" that help to improve sales and use of the new technologies that SAP is currently marketing.
I'm also talking about "new approaches" that help to keep a small corner of SAP focussed on real IT and real business computation, so that SAP doesn't wind up sacrificing one kind of core competency for a newer kind.
Of course, I also agree with Mark Finnern (in his first post to the "Coffee Corner")  that the "Corner" should be a casual and care-free place as well as "heavy" place for serious discussions.
But however SDNers choose to use it, they SHOULD use it.
And SDN management/adminsitration deserve all the congratulations and admiration they SHOULD get for setting it up.
    Peace out.

For the record, I've been using Yahoo Music Engine (PlaysForSure software) and Creative Zen players since September, 2005, with great success. I rip my own CDs, have purchased downloads, and have over 000 subscription tracks transfered to my players. I have over 20 playlists I update. Some almost daily.
The Creative Zen Micro we had in September 2005 was stolen in November 2005. Replaced it with a Zen Microphoto. I just picked up a Zen Vision: M several weeks ago.
    All of them work.
Here's the things I would recommend:
Go to the Creative Support site and download all of the other support software. Don't just download the firmware. The supporting software may have updates too. I had to do this with the Zen Micro because PlaysForSure was a firmware update I had to apply for myself back then.
Download the Windows Media Player 0http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...0/default.aspx
    Try Yahoo Music Enginehttp://music.yahoo.com/musicengine/
Both are free. The subscription music services cost extra.

  • Want to seek for guidance/suggestions/opinions from all of the developers

    Hi to all,
I'm not really that new to Java, in fact, I learnt Java in my Polytechnic last time. I learnt it for about 1 and a 1/2 years, and I did not use it for my final year project, not even work in related field for 3 years. Until currently, my desire to master Java keep on popping out from my mind and I really wish to know what is the best way and attitude to master Java.
I try to pick up from downloading the Java Tutorial from this site and try to re-learn everything once again, as well as new technology, despite of my busy schedule. I'm currently thinkng of learning it all over again from J2SE to J2EE.
I'm not sure whether I'm suited to be a Java programmer, however, I do have a strong interest in developing for both Java web application and stand-alone application. Due to the popularity of Java mobile application, my interests also grow there.
My question is quite simple, I don't need to master it in the shortest time possible, as I always bear this in mind, to be a good Java programmer/developer, I need passion and hardwork, and years of hands-on and working experience; I only want to know from all of you, who is good in Java, be it the senior or those junior or even people younger than me, even though you might be younger than me, or junior than me, but to me you all are definitely more experienced than me, so please tell me what can I do to learn Java the best way?
How to plan my daily life to learn Java properly, and slowly progress from one platform to another platform (e.g. J2SE to j2EE, etc)? How can I make sure I learn in the correct manner and right attitude? What are the tools needed for my learning and how should I monitor and test my own understanding, knowledge and skills?
Last but not least, which platform to start from?
    Thanks a million,
    Yours faithfully,
    Jenson

    Hi ChuckBing,
Both of them? Before this I actually learn J2SE using one of the free IDE called JCreator Lite, they have a paid version though, more powerful than Lite version. But definitely not in my lists as I'm looking for free IDE.
Meanwhile, I'm also looking for free resources except for future certification courses or exams, which I can't run away from paying. I'm not a Java Programmer but I want to equip myself with Java as it's my all time favourite whcih I never get the chance to practice or use it for at work, which is a bit disappointed. I would only be able to learn and practice Java during my free time at home, and I'm thinking of putting myself working on real world applcation that people would need and use it as my "Personal Assignment" or "Test" to keep myself familiarise with the language as well as up-to-date and never stop learning, else I would be ended like what I am now, learnt Java in the past and give back all the knowledge and skills to lecturers. Which I really thought that it's a waste.
It's good that I finally made up my mind to at least stay with one Java forum, that can helps me in learning, as well as contribute back to all the forumers within my abilities and knowledge.
I choose this forum because I always visit Sun Java site and I happen to browse to the Support Page and saw this support forum. It's not a bad place to say, I told myself. Thus, you see me here after I registered myself as a member of forum, I used to keep my SDN accounts all the while so that I would make myself always visit back and update myself with Java development whenever I'm free =)
Great place here! And great people and very helpful, but is the people here asking about programming and technical problems here? I would love to see some forms of interation and socialising threads once in a while to relax a bit or de-stress after a long day or days of programming tasks ;)
I think I will heed for your advice, download both the Netbeans and Eclipse.
BTW, one more question. Shall I download J2EE SDK, or J2SE SDK? Any other things to download and install before I embark on the learning journey, I wish to keep them so that I can follow the path from J2SE to J2EE, etc etc...
I'm always hesitate to download J2SE as I found out that J2EE do come with J2SE? Do I need to download the API and Tutorial for both the J2SE and J2EE too? Advices are needed. =)
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Jenson

  • Licence required for Business Package download ?

    Hi,
I like to download the "Business Package for Employee Self-Service (mySAP ERP 2004)" for the integration to the SAP Enterprise Portal.
    I found it here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio
But instead of a download link I can only see that a licence is required for the download.
I think that my company already has (or will buy) the licence.
But what steps are now needed to activate the licence for my SDN account?
Or whatelse must be done by my company to download the business package?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
in case you are sure that you hold the required license, please check the following:
    - you need to be signed with your S-User ID (the ID to Service Marketplace) at SDN
    - additionally, you need to maintain User Mapping for this ID for the data source 'Service Marketplace' in 'My Profile'
If you still do not see a download icon, please check with your SAP account manager if you hold the required license.
If there are other technical problems, you may also contact [email protected]
    Kind Regards, Anke

  • Live cache backup

    Hi Experts,
I am beginner to SCM and Live cache technology.
I have sucessfully installed SCM 5.0 and Live cache 7.6.29 on two different HP-Ux 11.23 servers.
My first requirent is to take live cache backup. But there is no tape drive connect to any of the server,
local file system assigned as  backup space, accordingly I have successfully taken online backup of SCM database by modifying entries like backup_dev_type to tape in  init<SID>.sap.
Know I am facing a challenge to take live cache backup on local file system , infact dont know how to take online live cache backup.
Another question is database manager gui is needed in unix environment, if yes please let me know the procedure how to configure this as In transaction lc10 upon double clicking database manager gui system generating error.
Please help to solve the above two problems.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Maqsood Ahmed

Hi Ahmed (no own SDN account? ).
I'd like to make a few remarks on this:
    1. Backup to local filesystem w/o moving it to another location afterwards is next to useless. What happens when (when not if!), the local disk crashes? What backup can you use then?
    2. You can perform liveCache Backups from DB13C/DBACockpit after you've integrated the liveCache instance (DB59).
    3. If you like to administer the liveCache via DBMGUI - just install DBMGUI on your Windows Workstation and connect remotely to the liveCache. Actually this is the way how it was thought up.
For detailed information how to work with liveCache I propose you check:
The documentation [Backup/Recovery SAP Library - Database Administration in CCMS: SAP liveCache Technology|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/e9/dc1c3e46903b2ee10000000a114084/content.htm]
The SDN Content on liveCache [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache]
The SCM Technology pages in the SAP Service Marketplace [https://service.sap.com/scm] -> SAP SCM Technology
    Good luck,

  • Hey! it looks like cloning of humans is possible!

in the "Database & OS Platforms" forum, we have a nuisance called Manu Jain.
    - this guy keeps on asking basic questions
    - this guy never searches
    - when he gets an answer, he asks more basis questions
    - he gives 10 points to the last poster to "allow him" to create new topics.
    - he likes to be spoonfed.
    - and if this is not enough, he created a new user ID and switched them constantly:
Manu Jain has a clone! his new name is "Raj"
Check how Manu and Raj keep on changing their ID but looks like it is the same person...
    add image in sap
and, this "Raj" guy acts exactly the same... like assigning 10 points to the last poster...

    Hi Amit,
As a programmer, you will know that you cannot always think of all eventualities which a program (on it's own, out there in the wild) might encounter.
I am not the guru on this, but looked into it once before when I noticed it...
My understanding is that while the merger of S-accounts was happening, it can also happen that a "merged from" account logs back into the SMP and branches to SDN (which creates the SDN account again). If this happens while the merger is happening, then the posts total took a knock. I suspect that the merger uses a "post x of y posts" logic to convert them all, and when "y" changes then "z" happens...
To my knowledge, there are less than 5 but not 1 of these "special" users at SDN and they date back to a time when the account merger requests first appeared. I have not seen any since, so I suspect that the original problem has been solved using a guestification call-back...
So, yes... you can think of Subhash as a hero, in the pioneer sense of the word.
    Cheers,
    Julius

            Ajitha Buvan

Hello Srinivas,  I would have responded yesterday but for some reason my SDN account was locked and I couldn't log in.
Our current ERP-to-MES feeds involve sending MATMAS, BOMMAT, LOIROU, LOIPRO, CLFMAS, and a few others.  The ERP is typically configured to send these upon saving their respective business object (material, BOM, routing, etc.) using change pointers, but that's not my expertise.  In some cases, we supplement the data from the IDOCs with RFC calls - e.g. revisions on the material.  We have a few other download feeds being developed now but since I don't yet know what will and won't be included in the next release, I won't mention them.
We use xMII to take the IDOCs using either the built-in IDOC listener or as a SOAP message to another xMII transaction.  The IDOCs are persisted so if any connectivity or system failures occur, we can retry them later.  Depending on the complexity of the mapping from IDOC to our MES object model, we may use only an XSLT to transform the IDOC or we may use a combination of the xMII BLS and our XSLTs to perform the transformations.  Some data enrichment may take place using the xMII BLS - some is necessary for building some MES required fields that the ERP doesn't provide and others are deployment-specific.
The resulting XML is suitable to send to Visiprise Manufacturing - we wrap it with SOAP and call the appropriate VM web service.  Note that VM requires WS-Security which puts authentication credentials in the SOAP header and, as of xMII 11.5 SR02, the xMII Web Service action doesn't support SOAP headers.  We used the HTTP Post action and got creative with HTTP headers to inject the required SOAPAction header.
For the MES-to-ERP interfaces, we support the typical operation confirmation/scrap BAPI calls.  We also provide manual backflush if desired.  These are implemented by either synchronous or asynchronous web service calls from Visiprise Manufacturing to xMII.  VM uses JMS internally to disassociate the user thread from the confirmation to support asynchronous handling.  These confirmations are collected in xMII and batched according to the manufacturing style: for discrete manufacturing confirmations are batched by order; for repetitive manufacturing they're batched by production version.  The appropriate BAPI is then called and status reported back to VM via a status/event notification web service.
When discussing these interfaces it easy to lose track of the bigger picture - the actual business scenarios you're trying to solve.  SAP is the system of record of Materials, BOMs, Routings (not all the time!), and Orders.  Visiprise Manufacturing, as the MES, is the system of record of all WIP (work in progress) and As-Built information (exactly what components were assembled into which finished products).  Often the most valuable scenarios are those which require orchestration between both systems to produce an answer to questions like,
Q: "Where is Customer X's order?"
A: "3 units are assembled and packed, 1 is at Operation 0090, and 2 have not been started because component 123 is on back-order."
    or,
Q: "Where is the component with serial number ABC and which customer received it?"
A: "Component with serial number ABC was assembled onto MES control number 999 on 3/17/2007 at 3:30PM by Joe P.  MES control number 999 was marked with serial number XYZ and completed on 3/20/2007 and moved to warehouse 001 on 3/21/2007.  It was shipped to Customer Z on 3/22/2007, ..."
    and so on...
The existing IDOCs/BAPIs can answer these questions, but things start getting interesting when you explore SAP's new SOA push - in particular the ES architecture around MES.  In my opinion, it's not all there yet, but I participated in the ES MES community workshop a few weeks ago and was encouraged that SAP was listening to our ideas.  I look forward to the day when Visiprise Manufacturing and SAP web services reside together in the same registry/repository and are orchestrated via BPEL.

The sending, requesting and distributing of Copyrighted Material by any means other than legally purchasing of said material is illegal and against international law. Continuing in such behaviour may result in legal action.
Suspension of your SDN account and lose of all points may occur as well.

I have nothing against interview questions being asked; if the person has demonstrated that they have tried to find the answer themselves and would like help on a specific or even a general aspect.
@ RAGAVA Reddy: These threads are mostly in the wrong forum, and you have shown no intention to follow-up on the questions asked. I have also written to you in the past, but you have ignored the warnings.

    Jürgen,
FYI some months ago (I don't remember when, but I think it was 2011), the SCN forums suddenly began displaying my First Name/Last Name from my Profile in my posts, instead of my Display Name from my Profile.   As I recall it lasted for less than a day.  Nothing I could do changed the way my name displayed.  It eventurally switched back to 'normal' without me doing anything special.  One thing I did try was to change my Profile first name/last name, but it had no impact.
Yesterday, there were evidently some issues with the SCN, because I kept getting site certificate errors in my browser when I tried to log on.  FYI I don't use a certificate to access any of the SAP sites.

  • Moderator simply delete my sdn awared account !!!!

My previous account were deleted on June 10 by a moderator due to suspect for participation in points gaming in the forums.
    My previous SND ID P1073960.
Why moderator din't suspect or email any notification for justification because we are on same network and directly delete my account ?
    Why ?
But when i report this issue to SDN , SDN only reply me " I am afraid this action is not reversable."

So, when you feel personally and unprofessionally attacked, you respond unprofessionally by attacking the original poster. I do not consider Otto Gold's post either unprofessional nor an attack on you. Rather an attempt to explain the perception you have generated.
I was the moderator who noticed suspicious point awarding. I reported it to the controllers of the forums, and they agreed that it looked very much like point gaming. I.e. questions being posted by a secondary account or by a friend, which you answered, and then were award the points. So your account was summarily deleted. Note - the action was agreed by a group of moderators and by the administration of the forums. It was not a single person's decision. It is not an action taken lightly.
There are certain offences in these forums which warrant such action. One is point gaming of course - the illicit accumultion of points by unfair means. Another is copying and pasting someone else's work without correct attribution. No warning is given, because it is assumed that the culprit is well aware that what they are doing is dishonest.
Your best approach is to simply to create another account, as you have done, and respond to questions. Familiarise yourself with the rules, endeavour not to break them, and avoid questions posted by your colleagues. As you say points aren't your motiviation, I don't really understand what your issue is.
