SE K750i phone to Mac thru USB: Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

I sync and transfer files to and from from my SE K750i cellphone via Bluetooth most of the time and it works great.
The other day I tried using the USB cable (came with the phone) and to my amazement, it opened iPhoto to download the pics I had taken with the camera feature on the phone. Also, it mounted the Memory Stick the phone uses as a Mass Storage device on the desktop.
Here's where it gets weird: Just like it worked perfectly before, now the Mac won't recognize the phone. I can still sync and transfer with Bluetooth beautifully.
I tried using the Image Capture application and the phone is listed on the "Devices" list, but it won't connect.
The USB cable is connected to a 4 port USB hub, which is in turn connected to the USB port in the rear of the Mac (along with a digital camera, PDA and printer. They all work and connect fine).
Any ideas?

I figured it out.
Seems the K750i wont mount as a Mass Storage device and iPhoto wont launch as long as its connected to an USB hub. If the USB cable for the phone is connected straight into the G4 USB port it will work just fine.
I have no idea why this happens, but at least the issue is solved.

Ichat 4.0 Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

I have asked many firewall questions on this forum before. At this stage, what seems to work are the appletest servers, both video and voice. But...I have many friends that have accounts that sometimes work, sometimes don't. With no changes whatsoever to the firewall or computers. These users that I try to contact run the gamut from aim on windows, to ichat on tiger, to ichat on leopard. And again, sometimes will work, sometimes not.
I found an article on the web that states that multiple computers on your home network with the same user id's could cause this issue....Is that true? I have a 5 mac household, and the user id's are all the same. Now I'm only logged into ichat as me on my computer, so I'm not sure how that could happen.
I have read the docs about ports to open, and I have opened them all, and then some, because I have found that sometimes ichat demands a port to be open that has nothing to do with those listed.
Any clues?

I have comcast as a service provider. They provide the modem. I have my own computer based router, running freebsd. I have full control over the firewall. I am running NAT inside the firewall. I have seen this behavior with both the firewall disabled, and with the ports I have opened. What is crazy is that while watching the security logs, when I test an account that doesn't work, I'll get a UDP deny on some arbitrary port that isn't supposed to be used by ichat.

Sound sometimes works, sometimes not

The sound on my computer sometimes works, sometimes not. I have an HP pavilion touchsmart laptop running on windows 8. I'm not really tech savy and hesitant to try troubleshooting too much on my own. Support and suggestions would be helpful. Not sure if it has to do with updates or why it sometimes works and other times not.

Personally I'd suggest running through the procedure I detailed in my initial post as it's fairly straight forward and in all likelyhood, you'll on need to remove the particular update ( KB2962407 ) and then hide it upon reboot.
At the end of the day, only you can decide what you feel comfortable with and if you're notebook is still under warranty, help from Staples or HP should be free of charge.

Syncing of Notes is very inconsistent - sometimes works, sometimes not

The syncing of notes is inconsistent. Sometimes it syncs properly, sometimes not. I had a note with a food list, deleted stuff on the phone, and the sync brought back all the stuff I had deleted. I tried syncing with Mail not running and same deal - sometimes it works, sometimes not. It seems to work better if I edit the note on the Mac. In that case the changes always seem to work.

It sounds like your touchscreen is erratically functioning for you. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.
If it comes down to contacting Apple with the above link, I would recommend you backup and restore your iPhone as a new device:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
If it seems to function correctly after that, I would restore the backup and either verify that it still works, or isolate the issue to the backup itself.

OK... Soundfonts sometimes work, sometimes not

I am new to Soundfonts. Downloaded SoundFontSynth that comes with a bunch of stuff, and also downloaded some individual soundfonts that can be used in DSLMusicDevice. It did take me forever to figure out where to put the soundfonts as the instructions are less than helpful.
I've been experimenting in GB and have a question.
When working with a midi file in GB and I want to change one or more of the instruments - Why do soundfonts sometimes work and sometimes not? Either it plays at its default instrument and won't change, or no sound at all, or sometimes it works fine.
It does work fine with my usb keyboard.

BPM sometimes works sometimes "hangs" forever

Hi all,
    I'm currently facing an estrange issue on our productive system when using BPMs. The things is that, a bpm, sometimes works and sometimes it is fired but it does not continue executing.
    Let me describe the issue with an example:
         Right case:
          A msg arrives           -> BPM instance starts executing.
          BPM reaches the end -> BPM changes to status: "Logically deleted"
         Bad case:
           A msg arrives                    -> BPM instance starts executing
           BPM execute some tasks -> It just hangs for ever without even showing an error. And lates task shows "Completed"
      I find this issue when some msg appears on the sxmb_moni with status: "Being sent" for a long time.
     I have already checked customizing (swf_xi_customizing) without any luck and this behavior is really strange as it only happen "sometimes".
     Have you ever had and issue like this?

I answer my shelf.
The problem was that the WF was dumping due to housekeeping in some wf tables. The tables were so big that the time needed to perform searchs took ages and therefore the work process dumped.

My logic x now crashes all the time . when i change plug ins sometimes and somtimes just like this . Sometimes all plug ins are loading normal (also via32Bit Bridge from Sound Radix) to use the 32 older ones still ...
Sometimes no plug in is working, and say contact supplier for latest verision tough i have latest version and original.
Can be that this has to do with the 32 bid bridge ? i have latest logic update 10.0.6 and Mountain Lion 10.8.5 , 16gbram I7 3,4Gh
also i cant find were i can register my logic x on apple homepage, only i macs and stuff but no logic x registration to my name and my account. ??
2nd Problem
ES1 Synthesizer is modulating when i make low fast bass notes like 3 in one 4/4 bar on 150bpm is modulating tough in es1 is all normal set up for no modulation and normal (ADSR Button on the right choosen , but es1 play 3 completely same notes with same velocity all bit different , not much but too much for using for bass production.
Also old Channel strips from logic 9 when i load is the same tough always was normal and suddenly in logic x the es1 modulates a bit , i mean plays every note a bit different somtimes with a bit more attack sometimes less ... or cutoff whatever , ??
pffffffff , is really hard to make music spending more time fixing that i can work .. hope there is any freak out there what can help me ... i m really worried

I'm happy to find this discussion about this problem, because I just don't know what can I do. Also, I'm new to logic (and asking myself these days why I switch...!)
So, I did everything I found on different forum about the system overload problem. Reset my 828mkII, delete my logic pref, clean my hard drive, changed I/O Buffer and exs pref, bla bla bla ...
I though that the problem was the exs sampler because I found information telling that big samples in this plugin can cause system overload, so I deleted it, but same problem. But I did the same thing with my NI Battery... oh... no crash, but I only have 3 samplers in it!
But, not all my project using NI Battery crash!
The smaller one crash and, it contains :
- 1 ES2 with 7 plugin FX
- 1 ES2 with 5 plugin FX
- 1 Native Instrument Battery (3 samples in it) with 1 plugin FX
- 1 EXS sampler with 4 plugin FX
That's it !!!
The difference between all my projects (I'm new so only have a few) is that I add an AVerb plugin in the Battery Channel on the one that always crash.
So, I deleted the AVerb in the NI Battery channel... Holy S**t it seems to work fine. WOW!! I'm looking the Jesus right now!!!
I'll have to make more test, like use FXs using BUS insteed, but Logic looks to have a problem using plugin on NI Battery 2.
I will probably crahs logic again and send another report telling them what I did!

IPhoto doesn't see my camera, but Finder does. Sometimes works, sometimes not.

Sometimes, when I connect my camera to my iMac via a USB port, iPhoto does not see the device. Normally, iPhoto starts automatically when the camera is connected. The problem occurs whether or not iPhoto is not running and is initiated manually, or is already running when the camera is connected. In all cases, Finder sees the device and shows it in its list of active devices.
I have been using this camera and this iMac for a few years without any problems. This problem has only starting occuring in the last two weeks.
Any ideas?

In response to a similar problem reported, it was suggested to repair disk permissions using the disk utility. I did this, but it had no effect. However, after restarting my iMac, the problem was resolved. So, don't know if repairing disk permissions had any effect, or whether simply restarting cleared the problem. Next time it occurs, I will simply restart to see if this is all that is needed.

Graphics card sometimes work, sometimes it doesn't

I'm going nuts with this, I have a Mac Pro first gen, running with a clean Snow Leopard, 5 gigs of ram, and an ATI X1900XT, and when I turn on my mac, sometimes I get video in my monitor, and sometimes I don't. The problem is, how can I be sure that the problem is the graphics card, or something in the OS?

Swap out video card for something else. If you have a PC and have Windows installed; or for a "mere" $349 the ATI 4870 (but more support for later technology). And swapping monitors and cables.
If you had been keeping it dust free (every 3-4 months), AND running the fans slightly higher (800 rpm) while monitoring temps of the system... every new OS X has pushed both RAM and grahics slightly harder, more stress and heat, and what was working but maybe marginal then failing.
If you kept Leo or Tiger around you could boot from those and see if the issue is still present, though that seems unlikely.
I don't put much faith in AHT as being that useful or helpful, let alone definitive unless it does find something (not finding doesn't mean there isn't a problem).

Why AbstractAction sometimes work sometimes doesn't work ?

In my program I need to use the Esc key, so I did the following to implement it, sometimes when I started the program and press the Esc key, it works as I intended, but other times after the program starts and I pressed the Esc key, no response, but if I minimize the window and restore it, and then I press the Esc key, it would work fine. I create an application and I redo again but I have hard time to figure out. I don’t want to cop the application.
If anyone wants to share, please let me know.
This is long story:
I am developing an application that includes 3 pages.
In page one, a report with edit button that associate with own row (same idea master detail form). Add button directs to page 2 with a form with empty (same idea Crate button of master detail form).
In page two, the form with data that can change and history of the notes (report).
There are three buttons: Cancel, Apply Change (same idea master detail form). Add Note button direct to page 3.
In page three, vertical shows the report from page one and reports of the Note history (from page 2). Between the reports, user can input new note and Cancel button (direct to page2) and Add button (insert New Note).
A Master Detail form includes several of the features that have been covered so far. The Master Detail wizard will create two application pages. One page is a report and the other has a form and a tabular form on the page. There is the option of separating the second page into two separate pages. At the developer’s request, the wizard will put the form on one page with a standard report, and another page will have a form to edit a single detail record for a total of three application pages.

Printing Sometimes Works, Sometimes Doesn't

I have the most unusual problem, and I'm not expecting any answers. I was wondering, however, if anyone had any ideas about figuring this thing out.
On one computer network (mainly running 1.4.x with Windows 2000) I can print my JComponent absolutely normally with expected results. On another system (NT 1.4.x), the print dialog sometimes comes up/sometimes not. For some, it prints. For others, nothing doing.
I'm mystified and would appreciate any help and ideas. Stuff that breaks some of the time is hard to debug.

If anyone wants to know the cause of this problem, here it is:
Java can't print to one of the printers. There are multiple printers on the network, all the same exact model. For whatever reason, one of those printers does not work. It's very weird.
If the bad printer is set as the default printer, the print dialog box won't even show up.
Very weird.

Connecting to Internet over open network sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

I don't have internet where I live so I have been using an open network in the same building to connect. Sometimes I can connect to the network and the Internet, but sometimes I can connect only to the network and not the Internet. In this case AirPort status in System Preferences - Network says something like 'AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet.' Why am I sometimes able to connect to the Internet but sometimes not?

So it sounds like I can only use it when other people aren't? Or no more than a fixed number of computers?
Sounds to be the case, (any idea how many might be connecting?), but just thought of one more thing to try, when it's available but can't get an IP, choose "Other..." and type in the SSID.
Might give a try when it does get an IP, with this tool, to get an idea...

ALSA randomness, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

I'm having some very strange problems with ALSA
I updated my system and had some issues with it, so changed to OSS. Then found more problems with OSS because my programs aren't compatible with it and I just want to go back to ALSA.
I can do an 'alsaconfig' command in the terminal and sometimes it'll find the card, sometimes it won't.
on bootup sometimes ALSA will initialise and i'll get sound the whole session, but on a reboot I won't.
I've followed the wiki pretty well and everything was working for 4 months then an update has stuffed it up
I'm on a clonezilla backup at the moment and this one is even playing up, for some reason i've got sound coming out of my virtual box, but not arch, this will usually happen if i try to play music out of Rhythm Box. That gives me the error " Couldn't start playback, The autoaudiosink element is missing."
