SE09 vs SE10, SM30 vs SM31
Hi,
I do not find any reason behind attaching 2 diff transactions to same programs in SAP.
SE09 & SE10 have been assigned to the same program RDDM0001 screen 100 and authorization object S_TRANSPRT.
Similarly SM30 & SM31 have been assigned to the same program SAPMSVMA and screen 100.
Hi Anand,
Check teh below threads,

Exact difference between se09 and se10
Hi all,
i want to know the exact difference between se09 and se10 .
i know
SE09 is the workbench transport requests transaction - here the developers can track changes to all ABAP workbench objects (dictionary, reports, module pools, etc). This is a developer-specific transaction and mostly all developers have access to this transaction.
SE10 is the customizing request display transaction - this displays all the customizing requests in the system. Again, this could be restricted to Business analysts if required, since they would be doing most of the customizing changes in the system.
but i think this is not the correct answer which is already appear in the thread list
recently sombady has answer like the one which i have mentioned above but the interviwer said that this is wrong.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE EXACT ANSWER AND HELP ME OUT.
Regards
fareedHi Fareed,
First of all, i would say its a nice obsevation. As soon as i saw your post i started checking both transactions in seperate window and i found something interesting.
My Observation is as follows:-
When we create a Transaction, apart from the Transaction Name, Program Name, Screen Number etc., we also can give someting called "AUTHORIZATION FOR CALLED TRANSACTIONS", under the menu: UTILITIES of the window.
Also we can use TRANSACTION:SE97, Maintain Transaction call Authorization in CALL TRANSACTION. Here we maintain the list of TRANSACTION CALLED for our Calling Transaction.
Now if you see, this list for Transaction SE09 and SE10, The Authorization for Called Transaction Differs a lot. Hence the difference bettween SE09 and SE10 is mainly the AUTHORIZATION Objects.
NOTE: This is my own observation, so there are chances of misinterpretation from my side, accounting to the human err. But this is something new to me too.
Thanks and regards,
RAVI :).
PLEASE AWARD POINTS IF YOU FEEL MY SOLUTION TO YOUR QUESTION IS RIGHT $-). -

Yours trulyNo difference anymore.
Earlier i think they were different, but now no difference they both call the same report.
Earlier... it was like this(alteast in R/3 4.0B):
The CTO comprises the following transactions:
· Customizing Organizer (SE10)
· Workbench Organizer (SE09)

SE09 transaction is for workbench transport request wherein the developers can track their changes or modifications to the workbench objects .
Whereas SE10 is a customising transport request transaction.this is used for displaying customising requests. Sometimes this may be restricted to business analysts.

Please let me know the difference between se09 and se10
anyone please let me know when we will go for transaction se09 & se10 and what is the difference between these two transactions, difference between customizing request and workbench request.
Hi,
SE01 is the main screen of the Change and transport Organizer. From here the administrator can acheive all tasks related to transport requests - such as create, change, view logs, display client/delivery transports, etc. SE09 and SE10 can also be accessed from here. However, not all developers might be granted access to this transaction.

Whats the difference between SM30 and SM31
Hi,
Just curious to find why does SAP provide SM30 and SM31 transaction. The tcode looks same and for the purpose of table maintenance.
any idea why?
Regards,
VijayendraHi Eddy & Venu,
Thanks for your replies. Indeed appreciate that.
Eddy ~ could you provide some more details?
venu~ Thanks for the information. I have couple of questions for you.
Actually i am descently good in ABAP so am aware of the use of table maintenance dialogs and the generated objects and all the complexcity associated with it. However i was not aware of the availablity of two tcodes. As you have mentioned about the difference that one is absolete and one supports a longer object name then the other.
I just tried to create a table with the maximimum possible length and also tried to create maintenance dialogs. I was successfully able to maintain the table in both SM30 and SM31. So i think both the tcode supports longer object names. I also checked the menu and other functionality everything looks same not sure why one is obsolete and why one is new. I just checked the program names associated with both these tcode and surprisingly both the tcode looks up to the same program SAPMSVMA.
So am not really convienced why there are two tcodes.
Anyways thanks for your time and truly appreciate your response and the useful link.
Thanks and take care,
Vijayendra -
Does anyone have some links/guidelines for the transactions SM30 and SM31? Thanks

Hi eXPERTS
Could anyone tell me the diff between sm30 and sm31??
From wot I know is that both are used for checking the tables, in ove we directly write the table name and in other we write with V_table name.
Is there any thing else?
TIA
KKThere are more than 8000 tables provided during the Sap installation. If you are learning sap, don't memorise just like that. If you just memorise the table names you cannot remember it for long time.
So, when you configure in SPRO (IMG Steps), you can check the important table names by clicking F1 and in Technical Information field the table name will be there.
There you can see the views and normal tables. Views (v_table name) contain data from several tables & table contain data from one table only.
By this way, you can remember the table names easily.

Hi all,
Can anybody please say me the difference between se09 and se10
Thanks in advanceIn earlier versions se09 used for workbench request (client independent)and se10 used for customizing request
(Client dependent) and SE01 is extend view of both workbench and customizing request.
But now ( from 4.6 ) se09 and se10 are same and has both workbench and customizing request and se01 is the extend view of the same like you can directly enter the request number and display the details of the same or get list of request created by user in particular client, etc. -

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME THE EXACT DIFFENECE BETWEEN SE09 AND SE10
Hi,
Workbench Organizer (SE09) Correction and Transport System
Customizing Organizer (SE10)
Task and Change requests are released from the system using SE09 or SE10.
SE09 - Workbench Request and it is client specific what we BW consultants develop in workbench.
SE10 - Customizing Requests which is Global. It affects to all the clients in the system. Generally Basis team use to develop it.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/57/38e1754eb711d182bf0000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
At least in later versions of SAP, SE09 and SE10 are identical - both calling screen RDDM0001 screen 100
Thanks. -
In BW/BI
SE09 - For Transportations of Developer requests (Workbench requests)
SE10 - For Transportations of Customizing requests .
What is the difference between customizing requests and developer requests ?
Thanks
Lisahi,
Customizing request
Changes to Customizing settings are recorded in the Customizing requests. Automatic recording of configuration activities in the Customizing work for a client can be activated or deactivated for each client with Client Control. If automatic recording is active, a query window appears when you change Customizing settings, asking you to specify a Customizing request.

Workbench Request -
Changes to cross-client Customizing objects and to Repository objects are recorded in Workbench requests
In workbench request .... it can be programs(repository objects) and cross client data (ie not specific to one client).
