Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt Adaptor is very slow on new MBP

I have new mbp 13" md101 and Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt Adaptor + seagate go flex 1TB, and speed is only 16mb/s tested with black magic and 13GB files copy. I did software update too, but the result is same, Whats wrong with this new MBP ?

Just in case someone else comes across this… The reason you're seeing slow speeds with a thunderbolt adapter is that you have formatted your disk with NTFS. Macintosh computers cannot recognize this format natively but you can use NTFS for Mac (http://www.paragon-software.com) which will allow you to use the disc with both platforms. I did this and found no benefits whatsoever. It is MUCH better to dedicate a USB 2 or USB 3 external drive for windows use only. I formatted a 1.5 TB drive with NTFS then installed the NTFS for Mac software. The drive worked fine HOWEVER, when you do a search with the Mac to find a file or something it cannot search the NTFS drive. So basically, anything you place on the NTFS drive from your Macintosh you will be unable to find when searching. That's a big deal! The other limitation I found was using the drive on my new Seagate thunderbolt adapter. Unless you're booted natively in to Windows on your Macintosh, Windows cannot see the drive. Secondly and very important of course, it's very very slow. It took forever to copy the information I had stored on the drive to other drives… Reformat and use the drive as a Mac external. The data transfer is ridiculously slow and reformatting the drive from NTFS back to Mac OS extended journaled also took a very long time.
To summarize, formatting a drive with NTFS so that you can use it for both Windows and Mac sounds like a great idea but in reality it's not so great unless you're okay with slow speeds and the inability to search the drive with the Mac.

Chaining 2011 MBA to Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt to DVI monitor

I'm currently using a macbook air with an adapter to connect my LG 24" LCD panel. What I am wondering is if I can take advantage of the thunderbolt port for my external drive using the Seagate dock (GoFlex Desk STAE127) then chain onwards using the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter.
Any help would be appreciated.

Seagate Goflex Thunderbolt passthrough to a Dell 24 Inch monitor (using Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter cable).
Both the Seagate GoFlex and the Dell 24 inch monitor work :-)

IBooks Author VERY slow on new, late 2013 iMac

I have an iBook that is about 100mb that I am writing. The book is tediously slow to work on. Moving widgets around takes on inordinate amount of time and sometimes blows up the formatting of the book. On my old Mac Pro Late 2008, I never experienced this.
I am running Mavericks 10.9.1 on a late 2013 iMac 3.5GHz Core i7, 16gb RAM, 500GB SSD.
Has anyone else have this problem or know a solution?

I'm in the same problem.
iBooks is became unusable.
I have published numerous ibooks, but an old update of iBooks (already with Mountain Lion, don'tv remember when), is became very very slow, with the same Mac.
Now I have update to Mavericks (now 10.9.1) hoping to solve the problem, in vain.
I have a MacBook pro 17" later 2011, 2,5 Ghz, Intel core i7, 16gb ram and i work only with iBooks Author and OpenOffice.

Premiere elements 13 very slow in new mac book pro

Good Morning
I've just bought and installed premiere elements 13 in my new mac book pro (yosemite 10.10.2) 16gb RAM.
The program is going very slow and the user experience is terrific
I have also big problem with three -way color corrector: when apply this effect never change in image.
Any suggestion?
Maybe there is big incompatibility with Yosemite?

Very SLOW connection - 5 mbps download

Since November, 2014, I've been experiencing very slow connection.
Redlands, CA 92373
5 mbps download 30 mbps upload
Called the call center 5 times. Each time, just a bunch of rebooting the router & speedtest.net checking
A new Verizon router was installed and didn't improve anything.
Technician 1 visited and mentioned that there is a network hardware problem in the area and many people called in for slow connection issues. The technician rebooted the ONT box and said if the speed goes down again, the ONT box should be replaced. The speed went down as soon as the technical left.
Technician 2 visited and replaced the ONT box. Later that day, the speed went down to 5 mpbs for download.
It's so slow at the time of writing this that Facebook page is rendered with texts only.
Are there anyone from Redlands, CA area who have been experiencing the slow connection for a while?
I don't want to call in again to go thru another around of 1 hour long rebooting / resetting the router and chekcing the speedtest.net exercises.
I feel I am being ripped off because I am paying for 75/75.
I'm running out of patience and am considering to switch to Timewarner.

Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt to boot iMac

im going to buy the new 2012 imac but im not interested in the fusion drive, because i already have a ssd. my original idea was to mount it in the internal sata port, but once i saw the teardown, ive changed mind and im thinking to connect it using this adapter: http://www.expansys.com/seagate-stae...or-mac-235442/
my question is if it is sata 2 or 3, and which are differences between STAE121, STAE126, and STAE128. it seems to be all the same product but nowhere i can find differences and if is sata 2 or 3. thanks

The teardowns we have see so far have been for the 21.5" only. There is always the posibility that the 27" uses a different method to remove the screen.
You have a long chain going from your SSD to the system. And the systems bottleneck will always be at the slowest point.
SSD (SATA 2 or 3 im guessing), enclosure (is it SATA 2 or 3?), thunderbolt cable, thunderbolt connector, iMac.
Even if any of those factors are SATA 2 you will not see a large difference in overall speed. It will still be faster than a normal internal 5600 rpm drive, but will come at a cost. Looks to be about $100+ tax for the enclosure, and another $50 for the Thunderbolt cable (not included). I would recommend just spending the extra $100 and getting the fusion drive and then disabaling the software and using the drives seperatly.

Adobe Bridge CC very slow on New Mac Pro

Im running both Bridge CC (6.1.0.115) and CS6 on my New Mac Pro
the Bridge CC is obviously slower than Bridge CS6.
CC also very easy to get the spinning ball every click on Bridge CC, very annoying.
Also Im using Dell 4K monitor, If I load monitor size preview will be really slow, even on the New Mac Pro. is there any way We can set a specific size of the preview? which can speedup the preview loading

Express very slow with new MacBook Pro

I have a 2.4Ghz MacBook Pro, a Mac Mini and an AirPort Express. When I connect to this network with a 1st gen Core Duo (802.11G) machine, transfer rates between computers run at typical G speeds. When I connect with the 2.4 Ghz machine, transfer rates between it and the Mini are much, much slower - less than 20% as fast as the 802.11G MBPro.
All machines have updates and show four bars of signal strength. I have no idea why the new MBPro is so dramatically slow.

1. Restart the router. Restart the computer.
2. Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
    Select "Library" and then "Caches".
    Right click "com.apple.Safari" and select "Move to Trash"
    Relaunch Safari.
4. Reset Safari.
    Click Safari in the menu bar.
    From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
    Uncheck the box next to " Remove saved names and passwords".
    Click "Reset".
5. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
     Turn those off, if any.

Safari, mail, software update very slow on new imac

I recently upgraded to a 21.5" i3 imac and transferred everything from my old imac (core 2 duo, os 10.4.10)
anything involving the internet is painfully slow, safari 5.02, firefox, mail, even the software update (but once it "catches"- downloads are fast)
I have tried the following:
1.) Repaired disk permissions
2.) Changed DNS
3.) Reset Safari
4.) Restarted computer
5.) Disabled all plugins (only had one which was an adobe reader)
No improvement- when I hookup my old computer- internet is fast.
Now for the really disturbing part- when I run windows 7 inside parallels 6, internet explorer is quick!
Help!

Finally- the problem has been solved
on the second call to the cable company they flashed/reset the modem and now it is working perfectly (roadrunner wideband)-
the first time I called they just ran a diagnostic which appeared ok.
the second time they flashed to modem.

Using iPad, iPod and iPhone with ATT uVerse. All devises are downloading at the correct speed - 10-12 mbps. Macbook pro, however, is very slow - 2-4 mbps. Can someone suggest the nature of the problem?

Reason for Macbook Pro super slow download speeds, when all other Apple devices in the house are downloading correctly. I am not attempting to use multiple devices at the same time. What could be the problem with the Macbook Pro?

Resetting SMC could solve the problem.

Render times very slow on new Mac Pro and Premiere CC

I have a brand spanking new Mac Pro (specs below) working off a G Studio r 24 TB array. Rendering anything in Premiere is taking an age (2 minutes timeline is taking 30 minutes). I am cutting 4k Sony F5 footage (XAVC). I have done tests with 1080 material and this doesn't make any difference.
I have spoken to Adobe support and reset permissions plus all the basic workarounds suggested: but there has been no improvement. I was due a call back but have not heard anything.
Can anyone suggest a solution - i have several important deadlines coming up, and can't really deal with the downtime.
I understand 3rd party apps take longer, but even with PP effects, rendering is taking way too long: especially with a super fast system like this.

In Design CS3 - runs very slow on new Intel iMac

To open an existing In Design doc, or a a new doc takes forever. Has Adobe got problems with Intel Macs? Or is there some simple fix?

Adobe CS3 product line are Universal Binary apps and should usually run a lot better/faster on Intel-macs as the CS2 ones.
But also said that the CS3 apps are hungry for RAM, so how much RAM do you have ?

Fcpx very slow on new top spec i mac 5k

I have just bought a new i mac 5k. it has
4ghz i7 processor
32gb
AMD Raedon 9 4gb
and despite everything I was told by apple it is struggling to use Final Cut Pro x. Its not like I'm loading it up with multi cams. The clip I'm editing at the moment is two mins long, has separate audio and a few shots of b roll, nothing major at all. It just can't keep up, dragging clips around the time line is so delayed. Any ideas if there might be an issue with my mac or if Apple were wrong and the spec isn't high enough. Im editing in better performance too, my old laptop didn't struggle this much. help!

Battery detoriates very fast in new MBP with Leopard installed

My just obtained MBP (3 days old) seems to have a peculiar problem. I started 3 days ago with the calibration cycle as advised by Apple. Now 4 cycles later only 87% of battery capacity is left. The battery drains during normal operation within 1.5 hours which i think is rather short. Furtheron since today the keyboard started to disfunction, not all the time but once a while, quite frustrating.
What can be the reason behind these strange behavior manners?

Windows 8 Pro running very slow after upgrade

I ve just upgraded to windows 8 Pro (64-bit) from Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) on macbook pro retina 15 but windows 8 is running very slow on my MBP whereas windows 7 was lightning fast. Now in windows 8 i have to wait till my app is active for click and also sometimes the apps take long time to load .. has anyone experienced this kind of problem in windows 8 .. i ve restarted it many times but its not quick as compared to windows 7... bahhhh i was expecting high performace on core i7 2.6 GHz 8 GB RAM machine

Remove the installation and start again, it's Wndows, treat it like Windows.
