Seagate Wireless Plus / Ipad and Sky Go?

I'm thinking of buying a Seagate Wireless Plus device for use with my iPad. Does anyone know if you can use this device to store and watch content from Sky Go? (I already have a Sky Go Extra subscription but no room on the iPad!)

Yep, that's about it. That's why it's advisable to buy as much storage as you can afford.
You can offload other pictures and videos to your computer and delete apps that you no longer need, or at least don't use often. Check in Settings > General > Usage to see what is using the most space on your iPad and go from there.

  • Has anyone used the Seagate wireless plus with an iPad?

I would like to use this wireless external drive to store videos and then stream them to my iPad.  Has anyone used this drive and if so how do you like it?

    Hi everyone,
I am frustruated with the Seagate Wireless Plus. I think most of you just download movies in it and then watch it on your tablet. I thought this can be my external storage for everything including the content of my iPad. Not so easy!!! I can't see anything from the content of my iPad when I connect it wirelessly to Seagate. I wrote to Seagate and apparently there is another thing called WebDav in order to do it. I think Windows are winning here how easy it is to connect devices. Simply, I can see the demo stuff from the Seagate on my iPad but nothing the other way, no pictures, no music, no videos stored on my iPad can be seen from the Seagate. If there is somebody who can explain to me how to do it before I will return the Seagate to the retailer please do it in a way normal people understand. Don't say "I think" as most of people in these forums do, please say only "I know" and lead me step by step what to do. I have the latest iPad mini with iOS7, 32GB WiFi & Cellular with Retina display. I've already updated the Seagate OS to 2.2.0.005 exactly as they advise by installing the 2.1.0.014 prior to that.
Please forgive me for the tone but those 10 hours I spent so far without any results are too valuable to me.
    Thanks in advance. Danny.

  • I would like to transfer the movies purchased in iTunes to my Seagate wireless plus external drive.

    Hello,
I had purchased movies from Itunes on my iPAD 2 and when I ran out of space I simply deleted them. When I open my itunes on my Macbook Pro, I find these movies under "purchases" with a cloud icon. This means I can re download them. But what I essentially want to do is download these movies or transfer my itunes movies library on my newly acquired Seagate wireless plus, which I understand is compatible with Itunes. What I would like to know is, will I need to redownload the movies on the macbook pro first before transfering my itunes library to the SWP EHD or is there an alternative?

Is it your intention to move the whole library to the external (easy) or just the movies (not so easy but possible)?
Alternatively, make two libraries, one for music the other for movies.  I don't really see the need to have them all in one library since I know I rarely want to play a song, have it jump to a movie, then another song without interruption.

  • Using webdav to save from Pages to seagate wireless plus

Hi, I would like to save directly from pages (iPad) to my seagate wireless plus. I know it should do it but I cannot seem to make the connection to the webdav server. Can anyone help?

    Hi,
this depends on the Wireless Plus model. There are new models which were introduced in 2014 (having Firmware Version 4.0.0.x) where I can't tell you how it works because they have changed it obviously.
For the older models, the webdav connection data is:
    IP address: 172.25.0.1
    username: leave empty
    password: leave empty
    path: /dav

  • Trying to download movies to seagate wireless plus

II'm trying to download movies and songs to seagate wireless plus, but only thing that is transferring is pictures

Image Capture should work. You can also try importing it thru iPhoto. Connect your device to your computer, launch iPhoto, select your iPhone from the Devices list, an Import window should open.

  • Want to backup a Seagate Wireless Plus to my Time Capsule via Time Machine

    Hi,
I currently have my macbook and an external drive with movies backed up via time machine to a Time Capsule.  I want to replace the storage device with a Seagate wireless plus in order to both store and stream data with other platforms in the house.  I still want to regularily back up this wireless storage device to Time Capsule as a safety net.  Can I do this wirelessly or does the new Seagate drive need to be physically connected to my Mac or to the USB port on the TC?  I don't want it to be part of the TC, I just want it to be a disk available for back up to the TC.

Have a long hard think about this.
Reading the review of the seagate, the problems with using a wireless device like this are great..
This device is trying to be a network device.. that is the only way you can connect to wireless.. but at the same time, provide some access to the internet.
Wireless on your computers/idevices cannot connect to two wireless AP's at the same time.. That makes the Seagate useless.
    Read the review. http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/seagate/wireless_plus_1tb_hard_drive/457705 /
What it is apparently doing is providing a link to your main wireless router.. ie the TC.. so you can have internet at the same time.. but note.. this is extremely slow.. as noted in the review.. the internet speed is really poor due to the lack of proper networking. You are using a box which is effectively a hotspot.. but is linked by wireless to your main router.. If you want a definition of how NOT to use wireless in a network this is it.
Without ethernet connection forget it. To simply have a wireless hotspot to carry around with you.. IMHO there are lower cost and superior ways.. since wireless is not of much use and will be slow.. plug a 2.5" drive directly into your computer. Or use cloud services with a 3G or 4G modem or tether to your phone. Don't forget you can carry around a pretty big store of files now in SD cards.
I also like the idea of being able to take the wireless portable drive wtih me so I can edit photos or view photos from my other laptop on the road.
So you cannot plug the USB drive into the other machine?? Wireless hotspot usage without 3G connection for on road seems to be an expense for not much gain.. but of course if you want it for this great.. just don't expect to put it into the network easily other than by USB. And for that to work I would need to study the specs more closely.. but if you cannot format it HFS+ don't bother. Using iphoto on non-HFS+ drives is not recommended.
If I go with a NAS drive - I can connect that to the TC for connectivity, but then how to incorporate the data on that NAS drive onto the TC as part of the backup.
CCC is $40 software.. it will do whatever you like.
but losing the photos and home videos would be:(
You must be very careful with iphoto library.. and videos more than likely.
    iPhoto: Issues with FAT32-formatted drives
iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users
    This article states..
It's recommended that you store your iPhoto library on a locally mounted hard drive. Storing your iPhoto library on a network share can lead to poor performance, data corruption, or data loss.
You are playing with fire using the Seagate to edit iphoto library.. and it is important you realise the risk.

  • Can my music on my I Pod Touch be uploaded to a Seagate Wireless Plus. My computer was fried so I am without right now.

My computer was fried, my music is now only on my IPod Touch. Can my music be
Uploaded to my Seagate Wireless Plus (mobile device storage). I am with out a computer right now.

No, you can't export music from the iPod's music app via the Seagate wifi device.
You can export both iTunes purchases and none-Tunes purchases via USB connect to a computer

  • Problem with Seagate Wireless Plus

I have been using the Wireless Plus drive without problems and allways with password protection.
Recently I found out that it appears on the finder window as a shared network which I can browse WITHOUT the need for a password. How is that possible?
If I can see the drive without a password this means that other people nearby can have acces to it. What can I do to protect the drive other than having a password?

..and this is exactly how I use the Wireless Plus drive. With my ipad.
As I clearly said in my question, the problem is that other people seem to have access to it although the drive is password protected.
Anyway, I think I might have found the solution.

  • Airport extreme: my macbook, cannon wireless printer, ipad and iphone cannot connect to internet when Apple Tv and/or PS3 is connected

Please help!  I have an Airport Extreme (model A1143) as my router, and I have several devices connected to it wirelessly and wired.  I have my Macbook, Macbook Pro, iPad 1, iPhone 4S, HTC Thunderbolt, Cannon wireless printer, and Apple TV (gen 1) connected wirelessly.  I have my PS3, an external hard drive and DirecTV connected via ethernet cable (but sometimes my PS3 is also connected wirelessly).
I began to notice a few months back that my wireless printer had connection errors and could not print.  And I noticed soon after that, from time to time, the internet connection on my Macbook and iPad was extremely slow, to the point that I could not surf the web.  I tried several different printers before realizing that this problem was happening only when I had my PS3 turned on.  I tried both PS3 wirelessly and wired, but the problem persisted.  I figured it was a problem with the PS3, so I just made sure that PS3 is off when I need to use the wireless in the house.  But I recently bought an ATV (gen 1) and also noticed the same problem when it was connected to the Airport Extreme (wirelessly) - i.e., Ican't print, and my internet is super super slow on macbook, ipad, etc.
So, it must be that my Airport Extreme is the problem, not the PS3 or the ATV.  Is there anything I can do to fix this (i.e., some setting that has to be changed)?  Or do you think that my Extreme is just dying out on me and it's time for a replacement (I bought it about 5 years ago)?

This problem, for reasons unknown to me, has resolved itself on its own. After several attempts finally everything decided to work. How does stuff like this happen? Thank you.

  • Seagate Backup Plus Drive No Search Option

I have the 500GB Seagate Backup Plus Drive, and Finder will not perform a search on the files in the hard drive.  When I try to search, the folder becomes blank as if there are no files.  Then when I ask finder to search a folder on my native hard drive, it works normally.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks,
    David

  • So I bought "Seagate Backup Plus" to back up my files

Everything seemed to have been backed up fine I guess. It probably didn't work out the way I would have hoped for or something probably went wrong with it but to my knowledge, it said the backup was complete. But anyways, I'm using Time Machine with it & I thought Time Machine backs up everything hourly or something? I didn't know that you have to plug in the Seagate Backup Plus external hard drive every time you want to back up your computer? It says no backup in 19 days. And besides, when I go to the Time Machine windows to retrieve files that were supposed to be backed up, everything in the finders folder is grayed out and it seems nothing is backed up. So every time I want one little files backed up I have to connect the external hard drive? Time Machine just doesn't back up hourly or something? I connected the "Seagate Backup Plus" earlier and Time Machine was stuck on "Preparing to Backup" for about a half hour. And remember I already set up the Seagate Backup Plus external hard drive 3 weeks ago. That's the last time it backed up my whole computer. at leased I think it did. Why would it...
Well that's as much information I have. Can someone please give me some answers on this stuff? Time Machine and what not. I need piece of mind knowing that my files are backed up and any new files will be backed up. The Time Machine came with the external hard drive to back up any files.

I bought an external hard drive called "Seagate Backup Plus" From the Apple store to back up everything on my computer and anything new on my computer. It came with Time Machine. The external hard drive disk had 1 or 2 Terabytes. Time Machine says "next backup: When disk is connected." "Oldest backup: July 2, 2014." & Also "Latest back July, 2."

  • Airport Express and sky broadband - wireless?

I recently changed from BT to sky and since changing have not been able to get my AX to work wirelessly.  It seems too much of a coincidence that it should have given up the ghost at the same time but who knows.....
I have the AX plugged in in another room and connected to my AVR via the jack plug to optical cable i/p.  The AX light is solid green and i can see it is connected off the AX utility on my iPad and also on iTunes onthe iMac.  I use it primarily to stream music from iTunes.
I can also see light coming out of the optical end as per normal but the AVR does not seem to be receiving anything.  It does not hold the digital chanel when polling, nor will it pick up a signal if forced to look only at the optical i/p.
    Help please!

Could I use Airport Extreme as the main router, and then use the Sky one to extend the signal?
No. Since the Sky router is not compatible with Apple's WDS that won't work.
You could connect the AEBS via Ethernet to the Sky router. Disable the Sky router's wireless interface. Configure the AEBS to act as a WDS main base station. Configure your current AirPort Express (AX) or another AX to act as a WDS remote.
