Search a particular forum?

Greetings,
when I am in a given forum, I need the ability to search that perticular forum; not the entire Adobe site and not all forums; just that particular one.  How can I do that?
Thank you

Ditto.  I hope the priority for fixing this is set very high.
Ditto. (Default should be current forum with subforums, checkbox option for all forums, and link option for advanced.)
Ditto to not user friendly and high priority.
I will also say that the small box and user unfriendly sort order for selecting forum in the "more options" search is what adds to the frustration of this poor initial implementation.  The visible box is small so it is hard to scroll quickly/scan it, and the organization is like the old adobe forums list - an odd assortment of alphabetizing by "Adobe Premiere" and "Encore" etc. (I don't really recall the examples.)
The alpha listing on the main forum page in the "Product, Player, and Reader" forums is a great improvement and what I'd like to see here - meaningful alpha and drop down with enough vertical size to scan quickly.  But that single list is only that area, and does not include this general forum, etc.
I wonder if separate forum/subforum selections is needed to make it easier to scan as well.  The main forum page selection is only forums (correctly so), but a search needs to go to the subforum level.  (And yes, that raises the sub-subforum level issue.)  But putting subforums in the same list with forums invites more complexity than many users are going to be comfortable with.

  • Any way to search a particular forum?

I suppose I should know this by now...
I can't find a way to search a particular forum.
I do see the "Search Communities" in the upper right, but it is too broad. Example: Right now I'm trying to search the Pages forum for information about the format sidebar in the new 5.0 version, but I'm coming up with threads from 7 years ago in unrelated topic areas.
    Am I missing something?

How do I initiate the results from a particular forum? Other than by using the general search box in the upper right?
Donnie ~ Perhaps there's a better way, but this is how I do it...
Click on THIS and bookmark it as a general ASC search for future use. Then put an "x" in the search field and in the Restrict to a Community field, type in Pages and choose which Pages community to search and click Search. Then bookmark it as a Pages search for future use.

  • Where is the 'Search Acrobat Windows Forum' button?

I've largely dropped out of this forum since it changed format (no particular reason, I can see the improvements, but it just seemed to take a bit more time to review and do things), so maybe I'm being dense with my subject line?  The first thing I usually want to do when I enter a forum is search for a topic that may answer my question already, but all I see are options to search Adobe globally (no thanks) or all forums (no, I'm in the Acrobat forum because I have an Acrobat question).  Once I've returned a list that uselessly includes all forums I get a new Search bar and a dropdown list of Adobe applications, so then I can narrow it down, but I've already used my daily allocation of mouse clicks and am losing interest. Am I missing something?

    Bon dias,
You are at "top" of Acrobat Windows Forum.
Enter a string in the Search field.
Click the button at the right.
    Wait a moment.
Search returns are presented from all Forums.
Click "More options" (under Search for: <you query string>
    Observe the "Where" List.
Select Acrobat Windows (nested under Acrobat) - this is the third line item from the top.
If desired - provide a "When" &/or a "Who" filter.
    Click the Search button again.
Search Results are listed for your query string from the Acrobat Windows Forum.
Retain the list by opening a new Tab in your browser when viewing a result.
Review the Search Tips to learn more about what is available with this particular search engine.
While search engines share many features in common, often they do no process the feature exactly the same.
In sum - rather adequate search of specific forums is available.
We might natter about the user interface but for most queries, the forum search is adequate.
    Be well...

  • How do I change the default "date range" when searching in the forums?

    Hi all,
New to the SAP forums...  How do I change the default date range when searching in the forums?  I am getting a 90 day search by default.  Then I have to change it and search again.  Argh!
    Thanks,

    Hi Amy,
the default date range cannot be changed by users. It is defined system-wide.

  • Why can I no longer search a specific forum?

It doesn't seem that long ago that one could drill down in the technical discussion forums and then search a specific forum.  Now, all I can see is that, no matter what forum I navigate to, I can only enter search terms for the entire "community".  99.9% of the time I really don't give a s__t about iPads and iPods, yet answers regarding them are always in the top results.  Put another way, how can I specifically search Using Mac OS 10.7 Lion for answers?

Once you get the search screen up you restrict the forum to search and/or the person:
Unfortunately to get this window you have to do the first search from the search communities box. What I do if I know I will  be restricting to one community is do an empty search which brings up the above window, then I enter the search term, the community and the person then search.]
It would be nice of you could just get these options right from the get-go but at least there is a way.
    regards

  • Dear Oracle: PLEASE improve the SEARCH on these forums!!!

Subject: Dear Oracle: PLEASE improve the SEARCH on these forums!!!
I have been getting frustrated using the search on these forums. I find the content very useful (especially as I cannot seem to find any other forums for Oracle Portal) but the search facility is very poor.
Firstly, the Search will on search for an exact match in the body of the messages, not the subject at all! This is very annoying as people usually sum-up there question in the subject and often do not repeat the subject in the message.
Secondly, the search looks for exact matches of your search string, so searching for more than one word become difficult. Bascially, it does only an exact match, not a word search, so forget about using keywords to search on as you would do in every other search engine and be very carful of the order of your words, you'll get a completly different set of results by swaping the order of your words... :(
eg. Selecting "ALL FORUMS", try searching for "Customizing Change Password Page". no hits? ok try "Customizing Password" still no hits? ok try "Customizing the Password". still no hits? ok just try "customizing". You get 10 Pages of 20 (Oracle conviently puts them over 10 pages so you cannot view them all on a html page and do your own secondary search using CTRL-F). Well, this is too many, lets just try "Change Password". again 20 x 10+ pages. At least this time we've got some that also have the work customizing in the subject. If only we got here on the first search... Don't even think of adding the word "PDK" or "Example" to your search...
I have already provided feedback to Oracle on this matter (and am still waiting for a reply). If you would also like the search improved, please also send Oracle some feedback and make this forum more useful. If enough people pester them they might think it's important enought to change. link below:
    http://otn.oracle.com/contact/htdocs/feedback.htm
    Cheers,
    Tim.
P.S. In the meantime, does anyone know of any other good Portal forums?

Couldn't agree more, if only the search was as good as on Metalink...

  • Search the discussions forum

so... we used to be able to search the discussions forum. Maybe I'm just missing where that feature went to. When I use the Search at the upper right corner of the page it searches all of Apple.com, but strangely enough rarely hits the forums. Please point me in the right direction.

  • Problems with searching in this forum

Is anyone else finding that the searching in this forum is no longer bringing back the same information that it used to? The problem seems to have started in the last few days. Any advice would be appreciated. I hope Sun fixes this!

It looks like they are redesigning the search and they have a link to the beta version on the page. I tried it but it doesn't search just the forum we're in like the current search used to do. I don't like the new search page at all!
I told them that on their feedback link also.

  • Searching on the Forums

When searching, it is helpful to first understand the structure of the forums. The discussion forums are organized in a hierarchy starting with category at the highest level and then discussion boards, and then topics within each board. A category is an area in which multiple boards reside. Within a board, you will find numerous user created topics. Within a topic, you will find the original post and the subsequent replies.
    Searching from the Homepage
When searching from the homepage using the search box located under the main navigation at the top right of the page, you are searching all categories.
    Searching from a Category Page
Currently, our categories consist of Most Active Software Boards, Most Active Hardware Boards, Additional NI Product Boards, and Special Interest Boards -- as well as 9 various language boards. If you are on one of the category pages you will see the default search option is set to search only the boards within the category you are viewing.
Click the dropdown menu to change in which section of the discussion forums you would like to conduct your search.
    Searching from a Board Page
If you are on one of the board pages - such as the LabVIEW board - you will see the search option is set to search only the topics within the board you are viewing.
Click the dropdown menu to change in which section of the discussion forums you would like to conduct your search.
    Search Filters
Regardless of the scope of your search, once you are on the search results page, you can make use of the filtering options on the left sidebar for advanced sorting.
The filters include changing the location of your search, filtering by author (username), date, solved or kudoed posts, type of post (only applicable when searching entire discussion forum), and topics with images or attachments.
You can also make use of the advanced search form to search for exact phrases, topics including or excluding certain words, and viewing your results by topic or specific posts.
    Spellcheck in Search
When you are performing a search, the search strings are spellchecked using a weighted dictionary specific to the forum context. When you are conducting a search, your original search string is used as well as a spellchecked version. Depending on the outcomes of the two searches, the search results page displays either the results for the original string or the corrected one, i.e. if one search seems to have better results than the other.
If you receive spellchecked results and wish to instead search by your original search query, click on the text Search instead for query under the search box.
    Searching for Users
From any search box, click the dropdown menu to change the search scope to users only. You can search by partial or whole usernames. Use the advanced search options to find results on biography or rank.
    Navigation Search
On every page, in the main navigation, you will find a search box that allows you to search the entire ni.com site.
Searching here will yield results from the KnowledgeBase, manuals, tutorials, and more.

Yeah, I dont know, this whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  Call me crazy but you would hope that when you buy an expensive phone it would last more than 15 months which is pretty far from forever..  Its ridiculous...  Consider me an unhappy customer.
    Thanks

I need to search a MSDN forum like "Windows Embedded Compact Native Application Development". Let's say I want to search for "project properties". I've selected the forum at the left pane. Now I entered the search phrase in the field

All I get as answer where any forum posts that contain either the word

    Hi,
Currently there is no way to use AND in the search feature. There have been plenty of complaints about this, hopefully we'll get an updated search feature in the future.
