Search and replace in Pages for ipad

Does Pages do this? Or anything else in the app store?

Try this:
Turn on Show Invisibles in the View menu.
Select (highlight) the double para breaks.
Use Command-E  (Find using selected text).
Open the Find dialogue box (Command-F) and select Find & Replace. The selected para breaks will be in the Find text entry box, but will not be visible!
Click in the Replace text entry box.
Select (highlight) a single para break.
Go to the Edit menu / Find and select 'Use selection for replace' (it will not show in the Replace entry box).
In the Find & Replace dialogue box, click on the Forward or Back arrows to highlight the selected items (e.g. double para break) where you wish to start replacing in the document.
Use the Replace All / Replace & Find / Replace buttons as per usual.
Not a nice solution, but I hope it gets you going until Apple restores the previous functionality!

  • Tables and cells in Pages for iPad

I am using Pages for iPad. I am writing in a table and when I write a large content in a cell, it desappears on the bottom of the page.
Is there any way to make the cell to split automatically when it reaches the bottom of the page?
    Thank you for your answers.

You could send your need to Apple and maybe they will add it.

Also, I read that Microsoft may soon provide and Office version for Apple's iDevices.

  • How to use  font Symbol and Zapfdingbats. in Pages for iPad

Pages for ipad has font options of Symbol and Zapf Dingbats.  I would like to use one of these fonts to place arrows in lines of text. Does anyone know how to do this? I am using IOS6 and ipad 3

Does Pages on the iPad have an Inspector panel? In the Mac version, it's a round blue button in the icon bar at the top of the window.
If you've got that in the iPad's Pages app, then you can use it to manually raise or lower the baseline of one or more characters, then use the font size to make them smaller. Superscripting after a numeral can be automatic (in the Mac version) by setting that in the Prefs.
You can probably tell I don't have my iPad yet.

  • Search and Replace DQXI Transform for Status Codes

I've been tasked with creating a Search and Replace transform to convert DPV status codes into the textual equivalents.  For example, a status code of "S20000" would convert to "A different city was assigned."
There are over 200 possible combinations, so I'd like to know if someone else has done this, and would be willing to share their code.

You could store all your patterns in a Map. Then iterate over the map inserting the patterns into a regex.

  • Search and replace a clickbox for a transparent button?

Is it possible to replace all click boxes for transparent buttons in a project?
Why? Because you can style a transparent button. You cannot style (as far as i know) a clickbox.
    Ton.

LOL, so Transparent Buttons aren't really what you want. Well, technically they may be, but you really don't want an honest to goodness transparent button.
Because you will need to re-create the functionality of the button, I might think it would be simpler to just add either a Rectangle Drawing Object or a Highlight Box and layer it over the top of the Click Boxes. But that's just me.
No, there is no functionality I'm aware of that will magickally transform all Click Boxes to Transparent Buttons. But nothing is stopping folks from requesting it via the Wish Form.

  • Search and Replace in Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver CS3has a nice search and replace tool allowing for search and replacement of very large text strings.
Does anyone know of a good notepad editor that can handle that large of replace text strings.
Seems like most cant handle that much code in terms of search and replace.
    thanks

If you're looking for something free/cheap that handles multi-line search and replace in source code, then there's always TextWranger if you're on a Mac:
    http://www.barebones.com/products/TextWrangler/
There are plenty of Windows equivalents, but none I've used extensively and could recommend. This one is free:
    http://www.htmlkit.com/
...and has a button to expand the find/replace fields for multi-line content.
That being said, they're not really going to do anything DW can't if you're already using DW.

  • How do I search and replace for invisibles in Pages 5.5.2?

Three related problems all involving search and replace for invisibles.
    1. A block of text where all double returns need to become single returns.
    2. A block of text where all returns need to be replaced with a single word space.
    3. A block of text where all double word spaces to be replaced with a single word space.
Pages 09 could do all three this handily. How can these be done in Pages 5.5.2?
    Appreciated.

Here are screenshot of my attempts to make reducing double returns to one. First up selection of a double return:
Copy to the clipboard. Do a Command-F. Here's the resulting dialogue:
I paste in the contents of the clipboard:
Note the Search field no longer has an empty slot selected. Something is clearly in there, but no instance of whatever is has been found. Nevertheless, I proceed to set up the Replace field by selecting a single return:
Copy that to the clipboard and paste into the Replace field:
Nothing to search for and therefore nothing to replace. Am now wondering what that little scoop to the right of the eyeglass icon might indicate. Clicking on it reveals this:
Definitely not "a solution that just works."

  • In Pages, how to search and replace text involving invisible characters?

In Pages documents, how to search and replace text involving invisible characters, colors and font sizes—a task which is so easy in Mircosoft Word?

I read that an older version of Pages allowed users to enter special characters in the search/replace fields, but this did not work for me.
    Here: http://www.macworld.com/article/1156533/pagesspecialcharacters.html
I still am looking for a way to do this.

  • Search and Replace on master pages

Is there a way to do Search and Replace on masterpages.
Example: There are 30 files in a .book document.
On those 20 files the header and footer must change.
The header and footer are on the master pages.
Can you p. e. change "Haeder1" to "Header1" with Search and Replace?
Right now we do it on this way:
    Open all files in book
Set view to Masterpage manually file per file (30 times).
Search "Haeder1" and replace with "Header1" (option search in book)
Is there a way to do it faster?
    Thanks in advance
    Sander Gheldof

Thanks for your help...but the headers aren't variables...
It may be that your solution is to bite the bullet today and do the page-by-page change of your headers to variables.
System header variables can, for example, contain text from a paragraph style such as a level-[ 1 | 2 | 3...] heading. Or other values received from a FrameMaker named paragraph style.
User-defined variables can also be used in headers and footers, although they can't be made to do the zippy automatic things system header/footer variables do...
The essential point being that after doing it the hard way today, you may never need to do it again tomorrow. Or, alternatively, subsequent changes can be effected by changing the value of the variable and importing that into the desired target chapter files...
    Cheers & hope this helps,
    Riley

  • How do you highlight text in Pages for iPad? The document I want to create and highlight is a pages document

I am trying to create a document in Pages for iPad and want to highlight various bits of text but can not find a function in the inspector for this. Can anyone help, please?

    Hi stuartdj,
I'm not finding a way to highlight text as one can do with iBooks (hold and swipe for black text, background yellow for example).
One option is to actually color the text itself.
Select the text, then in Style tools, tap the Font name at the top which shows the Text Options sheet where there is a Color option.  Would changing the font color to Red, Green or Purple accomplish your goals?
If you do want black text on a colored background (highlighted) it would need to be text in a text box where you can change the fill (background) color.  Style, Style Options, Fill.  But this is not inline text and doesn't flow like just coloring the font itself.

  • Will there be an update in Pages for ipad that will allow for sub scripts and superscripts

I am a chemistry professor who loves to work on the ipad. The problem I have is that the mathematics I use and chemical equations is use in my writings need both super scripts and subscripts. I would love to use my ipad for this, but presently, the only way I can do this is with a third party app that allows me to create the formulas and the paste them in the document I am working on. Will there be an update to Pages for ipad that will allow subscripts and super scripts. I would love to move away from my Office 2010, but the support is not there yet.

We cannot speculate about future Apple products. We know no more about this than you do at this time.
You can suggest it to Apple at Apple Feedback.

  • Changing Document Title in Pages for iPad and VoiceOver

Is there a trick to changing the name of the document in Pages for iPad when voiceover is enabled. I can change the document name when voiceover is turned off but there doesn't seem to be away of getting to the label when voiceover is turned on.

What makes this difficult is that I can export the documents in PDF format, but then I cannot view them in Pages on the iPad as they cannot be uploaded into iCloud and Pages cannot access documents in other cloud storage sites. Pages uses the Word templates best.
I've considered Quickoffice, but don't want to spend the $$ on an app that may not work.
I've even thought about Team Viewer and accessing the documents on my Mac at home, but why remote access another computer just to view native files?
    Thanks for the responses.

  • Pages for iPad is not recognizing the password I assigned to a document.  I included a hint, and I know I am entering the password that goes with the hint.  Is there anything I can do to access my doc?

Pages for iPad is not recognizing the password I assigned to a document.  I included a hint, and I know I am entering the password associated with the hint.  Is there anything I can do to access my document?  i quite the Pages app and restarted it.  Now I guess I'll reset the iPad and see if that helps.   Thanks!

Interesting that one does not need the password to delete using Finder.
The Pages password protects the contents of the document.  If there were a Finder password, it would protect what you might think of as the "file wrapper" ... the stuff around the file content.
Glad it's not vital.  I have to say I only pasword protect those Pages documents that are, in fact, vital.
    Best of luck.
