Search bar in iTunes 11.1.3(8)

I'm stymied. I'm using iTunes 11.1.3 on my MacBook Pro with Mavericks. However, I can't search within iTunes, as I can't find a search bar anywhere. It doesn't matter which part of the iTunes Store I'm in (overall view, Music, Books, etc.), there simply isn't a search bar. Can anyone tell me where it might be or how to access it?
Thanks!

While you are viewing the iTunes Store, you should be able to use the search field in the toolbar of the iTunes Window to search the store.

    Go to this address: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?country=AU
Item 24 lists 3 installable major search engines for Australia.
You can also restrict your search in Google by including ''country:au'' or ''location:au'' or ''city:perth'' (for example) in your search terms. Example: ''city:sydney plumbers'' in the Google search box will list plumbers in cities named sydney.

  • Using search bar in itunes when not connected to internet causes problem

I just upgraded to the newest version of itunes and I haven't had this problem before, but when I use the search bar in itunes to find something in the library (when I'm off line)I get an error report to send. Does the new itunes require being online even to look up something in the library or a playlist?

I'm getting a similar problem, not the exact error message, but one telling me I need to connect to the internet to buy itunes, when I am connected, so I'll be interested in the answer to your question too

  • Search bar in iTunes 11 doesn't work properly

    Hi,
I've been having this problem with the last three versions of iTunes 11 for Windows 7. When I search for something in my library using the search bar, with the option "search in all the library" activated, the results appear normally, but when I try to click on one, nothing happens. Besides, the little arrow with the extra options doesn't work either. And I also noticed that that little arrow doesn't appear anymore when I roll the cursor over a song.
I tried to repair the instalation, and to uninstall and install it again, but the problem persists. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Same problem for me on Windows 7, on iTunes 11 and now after updating to iTunes 12. Not very optimistic though seeing as there's apparently no solution after one whole year.

  • Where's the search bar in itunes store

Trying to search for songs to download but can't find a search box!  Can anyone help?

I just resolved this issue by doing the following (Please read the entire post before performing):
    Quit iTunes
Open Finder and click Go > Go to Folder... (or press Shift-Command-G)
Type the following (or copy and paste) and press return:
    ~/Music/iTunes
Move the file "iTunes Library.itl" to Trash. DO NOT empty Trash yet (because if this does not resolve the issue, you will want to put this back)
Relaunch iTunes and see if you now have the top bar in iTunes, including the search bar in the top-left.
NOTE: Removing the iTunes Library.itl file can cause you to lose Playlists, and even cause your music on disk to be unrecognized. It is highly recommended that you back up with Time Machine before performing this task.
If you know where your music is on disk (most likely still somewhere withing that iTunes folder, possibly just in iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media) you can still drag this music back into iTunes for it to reorganize and recognize the music. There is not much you can do about Playlists other than manually recreating them or quitting iTunes and putting back the iTunes Library.itl file.

  • How to select songs using the search bar in iTunes for Windows 8.1

Just today (8th May, 14) I couldn't select songs when using the search bar in the top right hand side of iTunes. I patched it but it didn't solve the problem, however once I ran as administrator it did fix the problem. Is there a way to not have to run as administrator every time I want to open iTunes and/or is there a way to fix this problem? I have iTunes pinned on my taskbar so by default it does not open iTues as administrator. Thanks

    Hi,
    This should be compatible issue.
Please try to install the driver in Windows 8.1 compatible mode:
Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows
If you still find unknown device in your Device manager, right click to update the driver to see what's going on.
For further troubleshooting, please post back the C:\WINDOWS\INF\setupapi.dev.log
    here for our research.
You can update it onto OneDrive or the similar network device and share the link here.

  • Search bar in itunes store not working

I tried to transfer my songs from my old ipod to the library on my new computer and that was an utter failure.  So today I am merely trying to purchase some new music for my new ipod.  The search bar in the iTunes library does not work.  I type in "beck" or "Rihanna" and I get a blank screen. Would appreciate some insight here.  Thank you!

Strangely, changing the date on my computer fixed the search issue.  Bizarre.  If anyone can help with the song transfer issue that would be great.  Thanks!

  • Down-arrow icon appears next to search bar, and iTunes freezes!!!

    Hi Everyone,
For the past few days, whenever I open iTunes a little download arrow icon appears next to the search bar (see attached image)  after about 1 minute, and then the program becomes unresponsive. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? I tried disabling the genious, but it didn't seem to help.. Please help!!
I'm using the latest iTunes, with 11.0.4 (4), Mac OS 10.8.4.
    Thanks very much!!!

Actually I think I figured it out. I think I was using a faulty link for one of my podcast subscriptions that was messing everything up (Tiny Desk Concerts Audio Podcast)
    Thanks all!

  • Can't fine the search bar in iTunes Store using latest iOS on iPhone 4S?

Where is the search field for entering search terms in iTunes Store?

This is great.  It works if you open the iTunes Store app.
It does not work if you enter the store by clicking in the store link in the music app.
So much for integration and the user experience.  Feeling like a MSFT product launch!

  • Weird White text at the bottom and in the search bar of iTunes

So my iTunes (ver.10) somehow has a weird white colored text at the bottom where it tells you what your song count, days, and gigabytes in your library are? And the text is a super light gray in the search box in the upper right hand corner...what the heck? Does anyone know how to change this?

    Thanks so much!

Either the iPhone has crashed in some way to cause it to corrupt badly enough to need restoring to work (either hardware issue or software corruption) or it has been connected while holding down the Home button.
Try resetting the handset (Hold Home & Power together for 15secs until Apple appears) and if it still goes back to recovery mode it means there's a major software issue or a hardware fault

It is else it would not have been able to be selected to import.
The simple fact that it shows up in iTunes Search means it is in the iTune library.
It is a bug where some imports do not show up in the iTunes library (but they usually show up in Recently Imported playlist) until a restart of iTunes, which usually fixes it.

  • ITunes 7 : where is the search bar ?

    Hi !
I can't find the command to display the search bar in iTunes 7 (you know, the bar that allowed the user to choose on which field the search criterias was applied : song name, artist, ...).
Am I missing something or has the feature been dropped from the new iTunes ?

    Previous post:
I agree, the search criteria bar was a great feature that really made it an Apple program, it is a feature from the OS, that they migrated into iTunes. It really seems like Apple dropped the ball on this version, maybe they lost the source for iTunes 6 and they were working from a previous version, BSing it as they go? Maybe they outsourced this version?
It really reflects poorly on them, in my opinion.
I get the same impression on having started this version from the wrong version of the source code, bizarre as that seems. Lots of tweaks seem actual steps backwards for no real reason. And some of the bugs we're seeing are just simply daft - and feel like they were fixed ages ago. Some of the stuff I've seen just shouldn't have been broken by the changes they did make.
(Like how can you suddenly not notice you've completeed the last track in a playlist, so you'll just sit there not completing... and not marking playcount/last played.). I wonder if for some key components of iTunes they picked the wrong version off the shelf?

  • Search bar goes black

sometimes the search bar in iTunes store goes black. I press the home button twice, tap the minus sign to end the iTunes app turn off the phone. I leave it off for 30 seconds then turn it back on and my search bar is back and I can enter text again. Is this a problem with the app or the phone? I don't have the same thing happen in the search bar for the app store. The phone is new, just over a week old and other than the above I love it..BTW I have the latest OS update...
    iPhone 4S 64GB
    thanks, Blair

    Hi wenyang steven,
If you are having issues with your iPhone showing a grey screen when you try to do a spotlight search, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
