Search bar in itunes store not working

I tried to transfer my songs from my old ipod to the library on my new computer and that was an utter failure.  So today I am merely trying to purchase some new music for my new ipod.  The search bar in the iTunes library does not work.  I type in "beck" or "Rihanna" and I get a blank screen. Would appreciate some insight here.  Thank you!

Strangely, changing the date on my computer fixed the search issue.  Bizarre.  If anyone can help with the song transfer issue that would be great.  Thanks!

  • I have done everything I can in all discussions. Itunes store not working.  I have Windows 7 , 64 bit.

I have read all the replies to the "Itunes store not working".  I have done everything I can to use any of the solutions.  This is my 5th day.  I give up.  Need some help.  As I can see there seems to be a lot of those problems.

I spent some time on the phone this morning with Apple. Here's a link they sent me: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
It's more than just uninstalling Itunes; there are 5 other apps that have to be uninstalled and in specific order. This particular Knowledge Base article applies to Windows Vista or Windows 7. For other Windows versions you'd have to look up the article for Windows XP.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't fine the search bar in iTunes Store using latest iOS on iPhone 4S?

Where is the search field for entering search terms in iTunes Store?

This is great.  It works if you open the iTunes Store app.
It does not work if you enter the store by clicking in the store link in the music app.
So much for integration and the user experience.  Feeling like a MSFT product launch!

  • Using search bar in itunes when not connected to internet causes problem

I just upgraded to the newest version of itunes and I haven't had this problem before, but when I use the search bar in itunes to find something in the library (when I'm off line)I get an error report to send. Does the new itunes require being online even to look up something in the library or a playlist?

I'm getting a similar problem, not the exact error message, but one telling me I need to connect to the internet to buy itunes, when I am connected, so I'll be interested in the answer to your question too

  • Why is my iTunes store not working

    my iTunes is not working?

I could also access the library but not the itunes store. itunes store was just a blank white screen. I could not check for updates either. I unsuccessfully tried many other suggested fixes, including proxy server, Norton settings and itunespref.xml file. The problem was linked to the parental controls for this user. If I turn off parental controls for that user through administrator, itunes store works perfectly. Unfortunate to have to turn the controls on/off/on/off, but at least we can update our devices and software when we need to.

  • App Store and iTunes Store not working

I am on the latest possible update on my iPhone 3gs. The iTunes store randomly, will not connect, and when it does it has no images. The app store can sometimes connect, but again has no images. Search facility is randomly broken and working. I have noticed when trying to install Skype, whilst the store had no images it actually installed it with just a blank icon, no skype logo?. Random websites dont work, www.apple.com, www.nasa.gov with 'you are not connected to the internet' message. Streaming services like nasa tv dont not work any more. All the is fine on my wife's 3G. Very frustrating indeed.

LOL. Now iTunes has a ♫ symbol for everything, Videos. Video section 'Cannot Connect to iTunes store' even though everything else is? Is there trouble at the Apple ship? Are you now so rich you cant be bothered with ever the simple stuff? How can something that has been working flawlessly for years suddenly stop working properly?

  • Previewing video in the iTunes store not working

When I go to preview any video in the iTunes store, I just get a blank pop-up square but the video never play. I also have this problem in Safari 5 (some videos work, some don't - those that don't work in chrome).
    Would appreciate any help.

Is it an issue connecting to the store, or signing into your account? For example, can you browse through the store and preview songs, search for artists, etc, but you can't purchase anything, or sign into your account? A lot of people... namely Starbucks employees, have been having trouble siging into their accounts due to a free song sampler they received. It had two codes, one for a small song playlist (the sampler) and another for a free song download. We've ALL had a problem signing in after entering the code for a free song. It's now become much more trouble than that one song was worth. Keep e-mailing them and maybe we'll see some results.

  • Why does listening to music samples in iTunes Store not work?

When listening to music samples in iTunes Store does not work this may be caused by the security settings in your antivirus software.
In my case, the GData Antivirus Kit supported the realtime check of HTTP content. Obviously this caused a timeout in iTunes and the sample didn't play. There was no error message in iTunes store, just silence!
Deactivate the realtime antivirus check of HTTP content and everything works fine.

Any similar difficulties in other Antivirus- / Internet Security packages?

  • Where's the search bar in itunes store

Trying to search for songs to download but can't find a search box!  Can anyone help?

I just resolved this issue by doing the following (Please read the entire post before performing):
    Quit iTunes
Open Finder and click Go > Go to Folder... (or press Shift-Command-G)
Type the following (or copy and paste) and press return:
    ~/Music/iTunes
Move the file "iTunes Library.itl" to Trash. DO NOT empty Trash yet (because if this does not resolve the issue, you will want to put this back)
Relaunch iTunes and see if you now have the top bar in iTunes, including the search bar in the top-left.
NOTE: Removing the iTunes Library.itl file can cause you to lose Playlists, and even cause your music on disk to be unrecognized. It is highly recommended that you back up with Time Machine before performing this task.
If you know where your music is on disk (most likely still somewhere withing that iTunes folder, possibly just in iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media) you can still drag this music back into iTunes for it to reorganize and recognize the music. There is not much you can do about Playlists other than manually recreating them or quitting iTunes and putting back the iTunes Library.itl file.

  • Itunes store not working

For some reason, I tried connecting to the iTunes store because I got a Touch for christmas and when I try connecting it, It loads for a long time and says iTunes cannot connect to the Itunes store, please make sure your network connection is active and try again. The internet is active and works fine on everything. I use AOL 9.0 Security Edition and McAfee for my security. I tried every firewall setting I have and none of them let it load. I also tried every cookie setting and none worked.I also tried the DNS flushing thing and that didn't work. I turned off pop-ups and everything. What do I do?

  • ITunes Store not working since update

I cannot load anything from iTunes store since the update.    I keep getting the message "The network connection was reset.  Make sure your network connection is active and try again"

    Hello there, Ahonan.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great troubleshooting steps for your issue:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
    Specifically:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • PLEASE HELP! iTunes store not working, network connection?

oh-my-gosh, i've been working with iTunes for the last few hours. i cannot figure out what is wrong with this. i've been trying to read the other posted messages but i don't understand what the problem is. every time i go to connect to the iTunes store on iTunes it says that 'iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. make sure your network connection is active and try again later.' i've been waiting pretty patiently, with no results. i'm so frustrated. i can't sign in on iTunes or anything. i'm becoming soooo mad. i just got this for christmas and i'm ticked. someone please help me?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!? i'm desperate!

I know this is not much consolation, but please remember that it's Christmas with all those nice, new iPods, all the people who want to use their iTunes gift cards that Santa put in their stockings, etc. It's called the store servers are on overload & it's going to be tough making a connection the next couple of days. This happens every holiday season, so hang in there & keep trying.
