Search bar too wide

The search bar is just too wide. Is there any way I can decrease the size?

Perfect. Thank you very much. I did, indeed, have tool icons there. BTW, I found that once I resize the ratio of address & search bar, I can return those icons to the center without any noticeable effect.

  • Navigation bar too wide for template graphic after creating new page

    I want to stick within the templates, but I have a lot of pages and don't want them all in the nav bar. When I flagged a page to keep it out of the NAV bar, the NAV bar get messed up - not properly displaying at the edge of the template, like it made room for the hidden page's link then re-adjusted itself too wide for the background graphic. I've got the problem in the elegant template when displayed in IE on Windows (1024X768). Safari on my mac looks OK. Are there any other setting changes I can make to be better compatible?
    Thanks

    It appears to have been a cache issue or some such. I no longer see the problem

  • Update to version 31.0 made address bar too wide which hides bookmarks, can't be changed in settings

    i expect to control the size of the address bar when settings are open but i can't. it takes up the whole width of the page.

    You can use code in the userChrome.css file (or use Stylish) to repair this regression.
    Add code to the <b>userChrome.css</b> file below the default @namespace line.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/userChrome.css
    <pre><nowiki>@namespace url("https://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
    #nav-bar-customization-target > #personal-bookmarks {-moz-box-flex:1!important;}
    </nowiki></pre>
    The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the <b>chrome</b> folder in the Firefox profile folder.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Editing_configuration
    You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    *Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
    *Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) TEXT file in the chrome folder (file name is case sensitive)
    *Paste the code in the TEXT file in the editor window
    *Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
    *Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as TEXT. Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working TEXT.txt file

    Just updated from iOS 6 to 8, I find the tool bar in the iBooks too wide as it blocks the running title of my books. Anyone experienced this? Any solution?

    In the last few days, it seems that my computer has all of a sudden caught a virus.
    As others have pointed out, this isn't malware. That should not be your first (or even fifty-first) thought when your Mac starts misbehaving. For more on this topic, see my Mac Malware Guide.
    I know the last ditch effort (after cleaning and maintenance of disc verification and permissions and repairs, is to reboot from the system disc.
    You mention "cleaning and maintenance." Have you been running utilities claiming to do those things? If so, you may be the victim of an overly-zealous cleaning job, which has removed important files and damaged your system.
    If I'm understanding correctly, you're unable to open any applications at all... is that right? Do you have any backups? If you don't have backups, you're in a sticky situation, as it will be difficult to make backups in your current state, but you shouldn't try any kind of repairs without them. (Actually, you shouldn't do anything with your computer without backups, but this is especially important when something is going badly wrong.)
    If you have backups, reboot from your Snow Leopard install disc. From there, first, repair the hard drive with Disk Utility. Once that is done, assuming repairs were successful, reinstall the system. You can simply reinstall it on top of your current system, and it will replace any damaged or lost system files with new copies. (You'll also need to update the system via Software Update after reinstalling.)
    If you don't have backups, or if Disk Utility can't repair damage, or if the problem continues even after a reinstall, post back with those details.

  • My menu bar is appearing too wide.

    My menu bar is appearing too wide, thus I can't see the menu bar and dock on the desk top at the same time.  To see all the menu bar I have to slide it left or tight, but can never see it all at once.  To see the dock I have to slide the curser up or down.  The whole desk top moves up and down to see the bottom or top of screen.  This old lady could use some assistance, please.

    Check in System Preferences>Universal Access and see if Zoom is on. If you have toddlers or cats this can accidentally turned on by hitting a group of keys that include Option + Command + 8.
    To prevent this being accidentally activated in the future go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Universal Access (Accessibility in 10.8) and uncheck all the boxes.

  • How can I make the search bar wider?

    My search and address box are on the same line. But the search bar is just long enough to write in maybe three words.I'd like to extend it. Taking space from the address bar is fine because 'it' takes up half the browser length. Thanks.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I placed theaddress and search bar on the same line as the menu.

    If the location bar and search bar are next to each other then you can place the mouse between the location bar and search bar to resize both bars.
    That only work if there is nothing between the two.
    You can set a min-width for the search bar to force a larger search bar:
    <pre><nowiki>@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
    #search-container {
    min-width: 200px!important;
    </nowiki></pre>
    Add the code to [http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css userChrome.css] below the @namespace line.

  • Since I moved to this new version, the bookmark bar is much too wide. Can I shrink it back down to its old size?

    I have a lot of sub-bars under the headings in the main bar, and in the new Firefox version, I have great difficulty moving over to them with my mouse. You have widened the main bookmark bar too much. I want to go back to the size that it was in earlier versions.

    Do you want to remove the icons?

  • My search bar have been hijeck by mp3tubetoolbar . I try too much solution over the google . Let me know if any one works. Thanks

    '''My search bar have been hijeck by mp3tubetoolbar '''

    Hi Imran411 - I would like to second Jscher2000. Could you let us know if his advice has helped?
    Usually if a browser has been hijacked that is usually an indicator of spyware or malware intrusion. Have you tried running a scan for malware etc.? If this does not resolve the problem, you could try:
    Running a deeper scan or scan with another software, such as Avast or AVG as these are free to use,
    Repairing Firefox installation in Programs and features (control panel/programs/programs and features/Firefox) or
    Restore your computer to an earlier point in time with system restore (control panel/system and security/system protection/system restore)
    If all else fails, then you can uninstall and reinstall Firefox using programs and features.

  • How to type a URL if Google search bar removed for privacy

    Because it appears that in Safari it is impossible to remove the Google Search Bar that's off to the right at the top without also removing the now connected URL Location bar to its left, I removed both. I had noticed that when I did this in Camino, I could still go to a web page by clicking Command L for Open Location (found in the File dropdown menu of most browsers).
    But in Safari just now, when I remove the Google search bar that Apple has hard coded to be inseparable from the Location bar to its left, I find I cannot use the File / Open Location command (which I mentioned is Command key - L) and therefore -- is my browser useless if I do not want to document my travels on the world wide web with Google's databases by having the Search Bar up?
    In other words is it not possible to enter a URL into Safari in a blank and open the URL Location if you remove the Google Search Bar?
    Is the only way to get to a webpage after removing that item to use one's old bookmarks to get to a page?
    Or is this a bug and is my "Command key - L" (Open Location command) supposed to be working? I also started to test this with Firefox but it appears my Firefox browser does not have this problem so my Open Location bar remains even if I remove a search bar and the removable search bar it does have is not tied to google in particular, I don't think, in Firefox even if I remove the search bar though I never use a search bar anyway because I don't care to go to any search engine unless I type their URL into my Location bar personally. That's just my preference because I don't trust having third party search bars forced into the browser design.
    Is this really true as it appears that there's no way to open a Location in Safari without having the annoying Search Bar up? Is Open Location disabled without the Google Search bar?
    If so, it looks like that, of my several browsers, the only one that won't allow me to Open Location (go to a webpage that I type into a Location bar) if I remove the Google Search bar is Safari. I am finding I can successfully extricate myself from Google search if I use Opera, Camino, and Firefox and select Remove after right clicking on the search bar.
    Why would the industry be trying to force this Google data mining and surf habits info collection on people? Evidently because Apple would rather take the money from google for forcing google into our browser than protect its customers privacy? I hope this disease does not spread to the other browsers left for me to use. What a monopoly google is building. Too bad antitrust litigation is dead.
    (If this is true, this is depressing to me because I had set Safari to be my primary browser. But it seems the least secure browser anyway (compared to using NoScript with Firefox) so I guess I'll have to avoid using it (except on those few pages that won't work without it) until Apple starts taking people's privacy a little more seriously instead of sneaking in more and more features that force us into an unholy logging relationship with Big Brother Google. And I'm disappointed in this development also because I used to like Google before I realized its lawyers were so dedicated to writing privacy policies that are as vague as possible and as unprotective of privacy as possible. I would like to use Google more if they would just stop taking 100 miles when a person gives an inch by using their search engine. I get nervous any time I have to use anything connected with them as things stand and I really wish that would improve and that google will improve its privacy policies rather than finding new ways to log every movement a person makes on the Web.)

    The question posed in this thread was:
    How do I type a URL such as "www.apple.com" etc. into a blank in SAFARI to go to the URL if I remove the Google search bar?
    I cannot seem to get Open Location (Command - L) to function if I remove the Google search bar. Removing the Google Search Bar seems to also remove the location bar to type into. This is not the case in Opera, Camino, or Firefox, so I am wondering if my Safari is just corrupted. If the only way to have the option of Open Location (Command L) is to put the Google Search bar back in, which means the two are connected, does that mean that Google is able to record all url's typed in the Location bar even if you don't use the Search bar? I believe the story used to be that any time you type a url into a google search engine, google records your IP and search; so I'm wondering if Apple has now set up the Location bar in Safari in a deal with Google to let Google track every URL you type into the location bar if it is the case that the Location bar is inseparable from Google Search.

  • Address bar too long

    How can I list addon icons in a row as in Firefox 30?
    See attached picture for detail.
    Update 1: If you customize icons, they will stand in a row, as expected. However they squeeze after firefox restart. Moving around search bar doesn't seem to help. When addon icons are too wide they seem to squeeze to a drop-down list automatically (after restart of firefox), regardless of what addons are there.

    Does it has effect you you position the search bar right next to the location/address bar or temporarily move it to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list (right-click the search engine: Move to Menu)?
    Note that this can be caused by extensions that show variable data on the Navigation Toolbar, so if you notice any that behave like this then try to place them after the search bar.
    Note that you can easily remove items from the Navigation Toolbar to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list and back again via the right-click context menu.
    If you right-click a toolbar item in normal (non-customize) mode then you can remove this item from the toolbar.
    * "Remove from Toolbar" will remove this item from the Navigation Toolbar and moves it to the Customize palette ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize)
    * "Move to Menu" will move this item to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list
    * "Move to Toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list will move this item to the toolbar

  • Centering div makes design view too wide

  • How to remove the search bar in the tab strip?

    My latest firefox update includes a search bar IN THE TAB STRIP on top of the page (not the one in the navigation toolbar). It takes up too much space for the tabs and it is useless (since there is already a search bar below it in the navigation toolbar). How do I remove it?

    I was able to fix the problem in Safe Mode. It was an extension disguised as a Firefox original part, named itself as "firefox default tabs." I am not sure how I got it since I have not downloaded anything recently. My Kaspersky did not block anything as well. But, huge thanks!

  • Safari is saving every site I've been on into the search bar on my MacBook AIR OMG soooo MAD!! Help PLEASE!!!!!!

    Today I went to PowerPoint and then I clicked Insert > Slides from > Other Presentation
    Now a box pops up and says "Choose a File" on the title bar. Then it says Choose a file containing slides you want to insert
    So now it says: search:    This Mac   Home    Desktop    Contents   File Name with    "this mac" and "contents" highlighted
    And then in the search bar to the far right with the magnify glass I typed the phrase "nos.." by accident...then I noticed almost EVERY webpage/instragram/youtube I've ever been on comes up, some of them listed numerous times.
    I see all these random youtube videos Ive watched, all these websties, and the worst peoples instagrams that Ive been stalking LMAO!! Like when I type in for example "ashley" it comes up ashley9234 (for example) instagram 6 times in a row listed, but some pages only once, all these webpages everything omg I cant sleep knowing almost every site Ive ever been to is there..and you cant click it or delete it, I just dont like to see it.
    And I did click "Reset Safari" , clear history everynight before I turn off my computer, but you see that is not the problem...the problem is that why stuff Ive visited from even 7 months ago show up , and why some are listed numerous times like 6 times in a row...omg Apple...you have let me down big time. Now I can never sell my mac ever!!! So next laptop is soo gonna be Sony or something..guys please..I really really really need your help Im losing sleep over this
    Can you guys try it...I just incidentally happened to see this when I was tryna do something search with PowerPoint and typed in the word "nos" and it came all these listings with beginning "nos"
    Try it out guys!! See if it happens for you and tell me the way to get rid of all of that under content finder, or search this Mac....PLEASE I wanna break my laptop!!!!!! I am soo mad Not that I visit any bad sites but I do like fb and insta stalking sometimes ahaa and i just dont like these peoples names or kardashian blog websites showing up for myself..even though no one will ever see it ..it makes me not ok.

    Yes, I do that every 30 minutes, thats not the issue tho, because it shows like for example, 4 months ago i search a celebrity on wikipedia ONCE, and it shows up if you type that first name in the search bar......
    Is there ANYWAY to get rid of this bug..or does Apple Mac come with a defect....is this happening for other people, can someone please check, I asked my friend it comes for her too, but way less results, and sometimes when she resets safari hers goes away for the moment, and comes back later when u search...hmmm strange...
    need help!!!

  • How do I add a google custom search to my search bar

    Hello, I am currently trying to figure out a way to get this: https://www.google.co.uk/cse/publicurl?cx=011443679866246468437:ejnincolk1e custom google search engine to work with my quick search bar and have no idea how to go about adding it to the list of available search engines.
    Is it possible to do this? If so could someone please help me get it set up?
    Thank you!

    Hi guys!
    Thank you so much for you're replies.
    @Epicaleb:
    I already tried to use the 'add to search bar method' however, When I then try to search for anything via the newly added search bar, I just get directed to the search bar page as if a search has not actually been performed and I have to type the search into the actual webpage again instead of using the quick bar.
    @cor-el
    "This makes the search page available as a bookmark with a keyword that accepts search terms as an extra parameter and that you can invoke via the location bar"
    I'm not really sure what you mean by the above part!?
    As for the add on you linked me too, It does not seem to work for the reason listed @Epicaleb. It's really annoying!
    Do either of you know of another way this could be achieved?

  • Can I shorten the search bar in the navigation toolbar?

    In the navigation toolbar, right after the settings icon, is a long search bar. Can I shorten this or get rid of it completely?

    The location bar and search bar have a flex property that makes them take all available space on the toolbar. If you remove the search bar via View > Toolbars > Customize then the location bar will take that space. If you place the mouse pointer between the location bar and the search bar then you can change the relative wide of both by dragging the resizer left or right.
